a lawyer can still maintain his/her license while in either drug or alcohol rehab. They have a mentor or monitor that supervises ongoing work; thus, they continue to practice law. For a physician, automatic 6-12 month suspension of license, 4-week formal rehab program and repetitive urine drug screens for that time period of suspension.
