Long-term CTH readers might remember in 2014 when President Obama claimed U.S. families had been paying too little for electricity for too long. As soon as Joe Biden took office, he began implementing the Green New Deal energy policy that, (a) directly forces higher costs for energy; and (b) is now creating massive problems.
In July I noted my own electricity bill had jumped 28% in a single month. That bill was followed by another almost identical increase this month. A review of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for July [Data Here] shows that nationally the same thing is happening. The year-over-year electricity price has increased 15.2%. However, worse still, the July increase alone was 1.9%, which figures to an annualized rate of 22.8%.
When the growth rate of monthly increase is exceeding the year-over-year result, that means future higher prices are coming. This is a serious problem that cannot be overstated. Already struggling with a doubling of gas prices, massive food price increases at the grocery store and the pain of all costs for goods far outpacing any rate of wage increase, this type of uncontrollable increase in price of electricity is going to hit the middle class hard.
Steve Cortes calls this the backside of the Biden created inflation hurricane. The backside of a hurricane is the worst because it hits from the opposite direction upon already weakened infrastructure.
The hurricane metaphor is apt because any increase in energy costs will be accompanied by the simultaneous arrival of another wave of food inflation, as the massive increases in field and crop prices start to feed into the food supply chain headed to our forks next month.
Making matters that much worse, Bloomberg is now reporting that 20 million households are now behind in their utility bills, specifically electricity bills, and the moratorium on shut offs has ended. [Paywall Article] Steve Cortes has written about the issue on his substack [Here].
One in six U.S. households, that is tens-of-millions of Americans, are now facing having their electricity turned off due to lack of payment. It is certainly understandable how this horrific outcome would happen. Joe Biden’s energy policies are destroying working class families with unsustainably higher prices.
Biden did say he was helping out with the “New World Order.”
Not a joke, not hyperbole.

When I comment on some of the left wing garbage that Meta thinks inundating me with will change my mind, I try to remind those who actually voted for idiot Biden (the copy machines aren’t impressionable) of the terrible catastrophe their stupidity and visceral hatred of Trump has wrought. Their responses shows the left of ignorance endemic throughout the left.
One woman disputed my assessment of the cruel inflation that affects the lower and middle class most severely by telling me she has seen gas prices drop $2 a gallon. When I called bullshit, she provided an article that showed a $.15 a gallon drop where she lived. She admitted her exaggeration, but obviously had somehow come to believe such propaganda. Apparently, there are those who, when idiot Biden says inflation is all gone and the economy is great, actually believe it.
But this gal was relentless. she threw every invented rumor and accusation ever created. She apparently believed them all from Russian collusion, to pee tapes, to hating veterans to making billions of dollars (himself, not Trump, Inc) from being President. It didn’t matter what pain and suffering she is actually experiencing. The only response is… “But, TRUMP!!!”
The point is, they walk among us. There are a LOT of people who will have their electricity turned off, have no baby food for their babies, can’t put gas in the cars and get mobbed on a regular basis and they will believe anything this regime and its companion propaganda media tells them.
Hopefully, there will be enough people that have the powers of deduction that can see the catastrophe that is descending upon us brought by this regime of socialists and totalitarians.
All idiot Biden had to do was reopen the economy and let the Trump wave continue, but he (his string-pullers) had to destroy everything Trump had done to try and erase the memory of a President that cared more about the country than he did for anything else.
Waiting for a Biden admin person to come out and just say, go buy a solar panel, they’re 30% off now.
Maybe power bill forgiveness is in the offing? Gotta get those votes somehow.

While electric companies have been stealing for years, I throw the breaker off when we close down camp, every month I pay for the meter, the device they need me to have to charge me for when I use electricity. There is nothing they do monthly to the meter. Its the largest portion of the bill when I use the service. I hate to complain as they are putting the lines underground now, a good idea in the woods where trees take out lines every storm.
We still are cleaning up 3 years after a big storm, 1 chainsaw vs dozens and dozens of 100 year old oaks uprooted, anyone need firewood?
