Did Obama tell a Democratic audience that a “fully automatic weapon” was used at Newtown?

Allahpundit @ Hot Air:

Either (a) O’s referring to a different shooting, which I doubt, (b) I missed a major update to the Newtown story, (c) he knows something we don’t, or (d) he has roughly the same mastery of gun fundamentals as magazine expert Diana DeGette. From last night’s DCCC fundraiser in San Francisco:

Now, over the next couple of months, we’ve got a couple of issues: gun control. (Applause.) I just came from Denver, where the issue of gun violence is something that has haunted families for way too long, and it is possible for us to create common-sense gun safety measures that respect the traditions of gun ownership in this country and hunters and sportsmen, but also make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon — by a fully automatic weapon in that case, sadly.

Adam Lanza had an honest-to-goodness machine gun on him, not a Bushmaster semiautomatic? That’s … an important detail, but I haven’t heard it mentioned once in the news coverage I’ve seen about Sandy Hook. (Then again, it’s not unusual for the media to overlook certain facts on this topic.) According to every report I’ve seen, including the Hartford Courant’s story just this morning about Connecticut’s new gun law, Lanza carried an AR-15. If O thinks a fully automatic rifle was used — which would explain his recent refrain about “weapons of war” — why is he targeting semiautomatics? And why isn’t Piers Morgan talking about this every night as proof of how easy it is for nuts to get hold of guns that even most soldiers aren’t allowed to carry anymore?

That wasn’t the only bon mot last night. The Standard noticed this one from the same fundraiser:

Your only defense is to parse words. Lanza sprayed hundreds of bullets and killed 25 children. 11 escaped when he reloaded so if he didn’t have mega magazines many more would have escaped. What else do we need to know?

John: 11 escaped when he reloaded so if he didn’t have mega magazines many more would have escaped. What else do we need to know?

Apparently there is a lot more you need to know. I’ve already corrected your misinformation on the other thread, John. Switching threads, and passing off the same lie doesn’t make it any more true.

Hopefully you’ve been curious enough to learn the difference between clips and magazines, so as to not further expose your naivete to firearms, or exactly what any victim can do in defense during the 4 second approx opportunity of shooting lull during magazine changes.

@John: Do you intentionally lie or are you really as stupid as present yourself? Yes, the shooter at Sandy Hook killed a lot of people, 20 children and 6 adults. The devil is in the details. And he didn’t have “mega magazines”, he had pretty common standard 30 round magazines. And he had so much time to spend committing his crimes that magazine size was inconsequential.

Your village is still missing its idiot…

Why haven’t the autopsy reports been released? There is so much misinformation to what gun(s) the nut used that only these reports can clear it up. Of course if you want to be paranoid, the feds could be doctoring them to fit their version of events. Hopefully they’ll do a better job than on Barry’s ‘birth certificate’.

The only “fully automatic weapon” here was obambi’s pie hole… which tends to go off and spray BS with a single touch of the trigger. ;-/

Is there a handheld fully automatic machine gun?
I know. There is the Thompson. But it is wildly inaccurate and extremely hard to control.
I would hardly call the Browning .30 handheld. It is crew-served.
Only in the movies can a machine gun be hand-held.
I guess that is where Zippy gets his information.
Alas.

@mathman: Actually, there are some fully automatic weapons out there; some UZI’s, MP-5’s, AK variants, M-16 variants and many others. In order to buy and own one, there are a lot of hoops to jump through legally. You cannot just walk into a gun shop and say “I’ll take that one.”
