Democrats Urging Biden Not to Debate Trump

Loading

Democrats around the country have begun to pressure the Biden campaign to call off all debates with Donald Trump due to the coronavirus pandemic, they say.

In truth, the reason they don’t want Biden to debate Trump is that they don’t think Trump will play by their rules. The president would take over the debate and make it about what he wants, not what Biden wants.

Democrats are also worried about Biden’s mental stamina and his ability to remain engaged for an hour and a half during a debate.

Newsweek:

Democratic strategists and supporters of Vice President Joe Biden are urging him not to debate President Donald Trump in the lead-up to Election Day, citing Trump’s publicity stunts and disregard for the rules in 2016. Meanwhile Biden backers, including some conservatives, applauded the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan for cancelling their scheduled debates over COVID-19 concerns.

Former White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart joined several Democratic Party strategists in bluntly advising Biden, “whatever you do, don’t debate Trump.” Speaking on CNN Saturday, Lockhart said Trump shouldn’t be given another platform which will enable him to “repeat lies,” which he said occurred in the 2016 debates against Hillary Clinton.

Trump has a knack for exaggeration and hyperbole that Democrats don’t like. It’s very effective in debates and Biden would spend most of his time on the defensive.

“We saw in the debates in 2016 Hillary Clinton showed a mastery of the issues, every point she made was more honest and bested Trump,” Lockhart told CNN. “But Trump came out of the debates doing better I think because he just kept repeating the same old lies: ‘we’re going to build a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it,’ ‘we’re going to keep all those Mexican rapists out of the country,’ and ‘we’re going to make great trade deals’ — none of these things have come to pass.”

Campaign promises that don’t come to pass are not lies. They may be failures, but they’re not lies. The fact is, Trump is building a wall and has renegotiated NAFTA — both promises made during the campaign in 2016.

“Biden shouldn’t feel obligated to throw Trump a lifeline by granting him any debates at all. This is not a normal presidential election and Trump is not a legitimate candidate,” Petkanas tweeted last week, expressing his “opinion that no one asked for.”

Well, it takes a special kind of idiot to say that Trump is not a “legitimate candidate.” He was elected legitimately, has served legitimately, and is running for re-election legitimately. Not to recognize that is to substitute an alternate, liberal universe for reality.

Of course they are. Biden is a disaster. If there is a debate, it will be on one of the liberal flagships and liberals will be watching. Unlike the ongoing suppression of what Trump has accomplished and the propaganda lies about a failure to ably attack the epidemic, a debate will be visible to all and no matter how they would try to spin it, Trump mopping the floor with Bumbling Biden would be undeniable. The one hazard Trump would face would be being viewed as being cruel to dumb animals.

@Deplorable Me:

Agree but creepy joe is not a dumb animal, he is a glorified sexual predator. he is still sniffing the halls of congress to find a vp.
the democraps do not understand that President Trump will not debate the idiot, pediophile biden, his son Barron will be debating him to level the playing field. the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan did not cx the debates because of the virus- BOTH UNIVERSITY ARE MARXIST IN TEXT AND ACADEMIC TEACHINGS. 89.8% of faculty in ND are registered demorats. both socialistic university would look bad to the democraps and alumni

If Biden cannot deal with Trump, he is entirely unfit to be President

Biden shouldn’t give Trump an opportunity to pull things down to his own level on national television. There’s nothing to be gained by it. Let the playground bully show up by himself.

@Greg: Biden is totally incompetent and the last thing the DNC wants to do is advertise that fact. I predicted long ago they would never allow a debate.

You don’t deal with the playground bully by letting him set the terms of engagement.

@Greg: Poor little Democrats; screwed over all the other candidates only to have your chosen one come down with a bad case of stupid. Now the man that stood down Korn Pop is afraid to be on stage with Trump. How do you expect him to deal with Kim or Putin or Xi or Khamene? Sure, Biden knows how to make a quick buck off of peddling US influence, but can he defend our national security? If he can face off with Trump, someone you all depict as a bully (isn’t the prescribed cure for a bully to face him down?) he’s worthless as a proposed leader.

Some choice you’ve set yourselves up with; either prove Biden is too incompetent to debate by turning chickenshit and running or prove he is incompetent by allowing him to debate. Well, that’s what you get.

@Deplorable Me:

If biden consistently does not know where he is, how can he possibly engage in substantial debate for more than 20 seconds?

@July 4th American: Seriously they cant hide his mental condition much longer expect a change of horses asses for this race.
Gregs excuse of You don’t deal with the playground bully by letting him set the terms of engagement. Does that mean An old sick and smelly woman can handle the bully, but Fingers who faced off with straight razor armed Corn Pop cant.

President Trump should have Tara Reed in the front row….

Trump has changed his stories often enough that he should be perfectly able to debate himself.

@Greg: Bidens caretakers are chicken. So are you, admit it biden has no mind left, Trump would be mentally sparring with an unarmed man.
Biden is 1 step from catatonic.

@Greg: What about Chris Wallace? Is he a bully, too? Biden is afraid to face him as well. Probably because he wouldn’t get the answers to the questions in advance.

@July 4th American: Biden probably wouldn’t remember who she is.

biden is in such cognitive decline a debate let alone three will be elderly abuse.

@July 4th American: One is all that would be needed, maybe just a partial one.

“We saw in the debates in 2016 Hillary Clinton showed a mastery of the issues, every point she made was more honest and bested Trump,” Lockhart told CNN.
Donna Brazile made sure of that now did’nt she.

@July 4th American:

But Joe can walk down gently inclined ramps. That might offset Trump’s astonishing ability to draw a clock face and distinguish between a rhinoceros and a camel.

Check out @ time index 6:46:40

Live feed of the Dragon splash down.

@Greg: I would like to see Biden walk down a slick ramp in leather soled shoes. We really don’t have any evidence he can still walk on level ground. We know he no longer generates original thoughts.

Again… why is Biden afraid of Wallace? Wallace isn’t exactly a rabid conservative.

@Greg:

But Joe can walk down gently inclined ramps.

Seems like Bargain Basement Joe can’t even manage walking on a flat sidewalk without help. Is Joe blind now?

Is Joe blind now?

Not as blind as you seem to be, concerning the perfidy of Donald Trump.

These P.O.ed republicans just aren’t letting up. Moms, from the Lincoln Project, around 4 hours ago. Over 100,000 views per hour.

The violent nightly confrontations in Portland seem to have let up since Trump’s enforcers were pulled back. Can you see some relationship?

A couple of days earlier: We Will Vote

Maybe Trump should appoint James O’Keefe as Minister of Propaganda. O’Keefe might make a surprise comeback.

@Greg: They cleaned out the park and side streets where they stash their weapons til dark.
She said police gave people three seconds to grab their belongings after they began to walk through the park and pull down tents, though they did provide a 24-hour notice that the parks would be cleared.yes we see what is happening, fool.

Your Patient Candidate that would get lost if not dragged by the arm wont debate Trump his nurses wont allow it.

@Greg:

Right, Comrade Greggie. Your candidate can’t even get to his ride without assistance. Boy, did you Democrats scrape the bottom of the barrel with Bargain Basement Joe.

@Greg:

These P.O.ed republicans just aren’t letting up. Moms, from the Lincoln Project, around 4 hours ago. Over 100,000 views per hour.

LOL…polls and views…polls and views.

Any substance? No.

Trump wins the Popular Vote and EC, handily.

Maybe Trump should appoint James O’Keefe as Minister of Propaganda.

He should appoint you, since Baghdad Bob is long gone.

Biden says “If I am elected I will do the following:

Create millions of good, union jobs rebuilding America’s crumbling infrastructure from roads and bridges to green spaces and water systems to electricity grids and universal broadband…

Create 1 million new jobs in the American auto industry, domestic auto supply chains, and auto infrastructure, from parts to materials to electric vehicle charging stations…

Provide every American city with 100,000 or more residents with high-quality, zero-emissions public transportation options through flexible federal investments with strong labor protections that create good, union jobs and meet the needs of these cities…”

What is wrong with these grand promises? Simple. The President of the United States has no authority, or money, to do any of these things. That authority (and money) belongs solely to the U.S. Congress. So here is what these promises really amount to.

Biden really says “If elected I promise to do the following:

Beg Congress to do something about America’s crumbling infrastructure. I will propose a big plan but what they do is up to them.

Implore Congress to somehow create a lot of jobs in the American auto industry. How they do it is up to them.

Bug Congress to build a lot of zero-emissions public transit stuff. (What they do is up to them.)”

Not quite so grand sounding, are they?

He’s a little lost on the concept of “president.”

@Greg:

The violent nightly confrontations in Portland seem to have let up since Trump’s enforcers were pulled back. Can you see some relationship?

Ah, the stupidity. Trump threatened to send MORE, as in the National Guard if the local authorities did not get control of the situation. The next day, Portland and state police moved in and cleared out the terrorist base camp that was in the park across the street from the federal court house THEN the violence subsided, though it arose in other areas of the city WHERE THERE WERE NO FEDERAL OFFICERS. The federal officers was just an excuse the left offered, and so many dumb people believed, to justify their want for violence.

@kitt: Yeah, wouldn’t the police just LOVE for some moron to show up and admit they were part of the terror campaign by wanting to claim their Igloo and lawn chair? No doubt, many will be stupid enough to try.

@Nan G: They had to destroy the economy so they could make promises that would be better than the current situation. The problem for them is that Trump’s economy didn’t crash due to economic pressures; it was simply turned off and, just as simply, it can be turned back on. Remember the 4.5 MILLION jobs in one month after the economy just CRACKED open? The protests and riots had to be unleashed to cause the spread of the virus to explode in order to try and keep the economy closed. And please explain how any transportation system can ever be “zero emissions”? Biden will simply give morons like AOC the encouragement do demand and shut down more.

Biden is a disaster in the making, but if he is ever even going to get to the point to wreak his damage, he HAS to be kept hidden and that means NO DEBATE.

@Deplorable Me, #28:

Ah, the stupidity. Trump threatened to send MORE, as in the National Guard if the local authorities did not get control of the situation.

I agree. Fortunately somebody managed to talk him out of it, he backed off instead, and things quickly quieted down.

@Greg: Oh, so he threatened to send in the National Guard but didn’t and the leftist terrorism just went away? I thought it was the federal officers that showed up after 50 days of violence that caused the violence? You need to get your lies together, bud. Your story is falling apart.

Trump’s enforcers, teargas, and truncheons appeared, at which point nightly violence centering on their location rapidly escalated. It persisted for as long as they remained, and promptly settled down when they left. From this, you conclude that Trump’s threats brought peace to Portland.

There are those who might question your logic.

Eh, the thread is about debate with bumbling biden

Joe Biden’s quotes read by a beat poet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DQu25z8bJE

He cannot debate.
He cannot even communicate to a friendly crowd, er, small group.

@Greg: They haven’t left. They simply only come out when attacked. The local and state police cleared the leftist terrorists out, so there was no reason for the federal officers to come out. It is the left causing the violence, not those reacting to the violence and enforcing the law. You have a leftist terrorist way of looking at things.

@July 4th American: You think ANY leftist wants to talk about Biden? He’s a joke and they know it.

HUSH! Donald might hear you.

August 8, 2020 – Trump campaign adviser: ‘Biden is actually a very good debater’

Jason Miller, an adviser to President Trump’s reelection campaign, said in an interview published Friday evening that Joe Biden is “actually a very good debater,” appearing to run counter to the GOP’s confidence that the former vice president would hand Trump an embarrassing gaffe that could spark a negative news cycle.

“Joe Biden is actually a very good debater. He doesn’t have as many gaffes as he does in his everyday interviews,” Miller told The Washington Post. “I would make the argument that Joe Biden would even be the favorite in the debates since he’s been doing them for 47 years.”

The Trump campaign and its Republican allies have been eager to alter a news cycle that has focused on the inability to push a coronavirus relief package through Congress and the president’s most recent controversial remarks and have floated the idea that a televised debate could be just the kind of event they need.

Biden has a long history of making offhand comments that ultimately force him to backtrack, including recently when he implied the Hispanic community was more diverse than the Black community.

The GOP is hopeful that a similar mistake would be made in a debate watched by millions of Americans. Trump’s campaign is so eager to debate Biden that it asked the Commission on Presidential Debates to either add another debate to the three already scheduled or move the last one up on the calendar to ensure that at least one match-up is aired before early voting begins.

The Commission ultimately rejected the request.

While Miller noted that Biden is a strong debater, he also said the former vice president’s campaign may be wary of the risk of a gaffe and could limit his appearances with Trump.

“I would be highly surprised if Joe Biden actually went through with all three debates,” he said. “I think their strategy will be to show up to one, show that he is able to function and then pull the plug on any additional debates.”

The first debate between Trump and Biden will take place on Sept. 29.

@Greg: He has not shown it this election cycle. In fact everytime he opens his racist mouth something really telling fall out.

He has not yet debated anyone in this election cycle.

@Greg: Really what were all the losers of the democrat clownshow doing on stage with him?
The 2020 Democratic Party presidential debates took place among candidates in the campaign for the Democratic Party’s nomination for the president of the United States in the 2020 presidential election. There were a total of 29 major Democratic candidates. Of these, 23 candidates participated in at least one debate.
You want to take your head out of your ass now ?

There’s been a steady deterioration in civility since Donald Trump was elected. He has pretty much lowered the nation’s standards across the board. I can think of nothing he has actually made better, let alone great.

@Greg: Yes the Democrats have become totally unhinged losing a fixed election. Teaming up with terrorists, trying to murder Federal agents. Major violence in Democrat run urban areas all over the country. Civilians are getting mighty sick of all the democrat communist violence and spreading virus.

@Greg: Palin kicked his ass in 2008. He suffered the same issues then as he does now, just on a much smaller scale (Roosevelt went on television to calm Depression fears in 1928). The main concern of the Trump campaign will be to assure, somehow, that the “moderators” don’t collude with Biden and slip him the questions and that they don’t take sides with Biden as Candy Crowley did with Obama.

He has not yet debated anyone in this election cycle.

Wait… what? What was that Democrat primary I saw? A mirage? C’mon, man!

There’s been a steady deterioration in civility since Donald Trump was elected.

Well, every once in a while you let your guard down and write something that is true. Yes, civility is all but gone and the LEFT is bears sole responsibility for it. Democrats promote nothing but HATE.
