Journalists used to deploy a euphemism — “distancing himself” — to apply to politicians who offered up some kind of criticism of one of their own party.
It meant nothing. It did not advance any case against the wrongdoer. It did not call for any concrete action to be taken against the politician in bad odor.
It’s just a transparently self-serving minimum-possible-effort maneuver to keep yourself from being associated with someone you’re clearly associated with.
You’re just “distancing yourself” from the stink.
But not doing anything to clean it up.
Democrats are now doing a lot of Distancing Themselves with Cuomo.
The entire delegation of NY Democrat congressmen is now demanding that Cuomo resign.
The entire Democratic congressional delegation of New York has called on Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) to resign after an independent investigation by the state attorney general’s office found he had sexually harassed multiple women.House Democratic Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) and Reps. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) and Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.) issued a statement Tuesday, saying “the time is right” for Cuomo to resign after an investigation found that he sexually harassed multiple women.
…Most of the 19 Congressional Democrats previously called for Cuomo to resign in in March. At the time, Jeffries, Meeks, and Suozzi were the only three New York House Democrats who did not.
Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.) also called for Cuomo to resign at the time.Of course, this is all a hustle; Cuomo won’t resign, and NY AG Letitia Jones won’t prosecute. This is all just a con to allow the Democrats to Distance Themselves from “The Love Gov.”
Joe Biden, a man credibly accused of r@ping a woman (with his hand), which does count as r@pe in many jurisdictions, has now called upon Cuomo to resign.
Well, he barely did that. He was asked if he still stands by his previous statement that Cuomo should resign if found to have sexually harassed women, and he said “I still stand by that.”
Note that Cuomo hasn’t been convicted of anything, merely accused by a DA.
Pelosi also Politically Distanced Herself from Cuomo by asking him to resign, and then doing nothing else.
Think she’ll start a Congressional commission to probe how Cuomo could have gotten away with sexual harassment, and even sexual assault for years and years?

NY state senators are calling for Cuomo to be impeached, but I doubt that Democrats will actually move from Politcally Distancing Themselves to actually imposing their rules on a fellow Democrat.Democratic members of the Assembly held a conference Tuesday afternoon to discuss the potentiality for the impeachment, and many members of the Senate called publicly for his removal.”Now that the investigation is complete and the allegations have been substantiated, it should be clear to everyone that he can no longer serve as Governor,” State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins wrote in an official statement.
Stewart-Cousins also told NY1, “For the sake of the state of New York and the people, the governor should resign.”
According to researchers, as of now, 83 percent of members of the New York State Senate and 56 percent of State Assembly members have called on Cuomo to resign or be impeached.Calling for him to resign means literally nothing, as he’s repeatedly said he’s not resigning.
Perhaps they should tell the occupier of the WH to resign for groping boys and girls much younger than the ones Cuomo groped. Let’s face it, the real target here isn’t Cuomo, it’s Kavanaugh.

Democrats would love for Cuomo to resign to make the story go way because the longer it goes on, the more likely idiot Grampa Grope Biden’s own sexual abuses will become a topic. Tara Reade should be getting her hair done; she’s about to be on TV a lot (just not on any liberal outlets).
Yet to be addressed is Cuomo’s responsibility for the deaths of thousands of elderly. But, who cares? They were old. All Democrats need is their ballots; dead or alive, they can fill them out for the candidates they SHOULD have voted for (according to Democrats).
How dead is #BelieveHer and #MeToo? Dead. Dead dead. So dead it probably votes for Biden.
Gov Cuomo might be removed AFTER he gets found guilty of something other than he said/she said & innuendo.
Dems might want him gone for a clever reason:
IF he goes they get to place another Dem into the Gov’s slot in NY.
Then this newer model Dem “incumbent,” will be harder to defeat than equally untried GOP & Dem that would be on ballots IF Cuomo stays.
Yeah… MIGHT. There is no guarantee a Democrat will leave office, voluntarily or by removal, just because of a criminal conviction. After all some people (the few actually living, breathing, legitimate voters) voted for the idiot Biden after he BRAGGED ON VIDEO that he extorted the Ukrainian government to kill the investigation that would expose his and his son’s payments from Burisma, something they thought was so bad that they replaced idiot Biden’s name with Trump and impeached him for it!
No law, rule, morality, or social contract controls Democrat behavior. Those exist only to wield against political opponents, no matter how many they themselves have violated.
And just a short time ago, Republicans were gleefully seating a Supreme Court Justice who stayed so drunk during prep school that he couldn’t even remember how many women he sexually assaulted.
He remembered. The number was zero. So, you support Cuomo’s and idiot Biden’s right to sexually abuse all the women they want. Clear enough.
