Why does the Democrat cartel oppose this he is preserving a tiny part of the precious Obama legacy! If Drug cartels were an emergency then why are they not now after Holder better armed them?

The issue isn’t whether or not a president has the power to declare a national emergency. It’s whether Donald Trump can conjure one up to grab $8.7 billion dollars for a pet project in defiance of the Constitution, which grands exclusive budgetary authority to Congress.

The Congress already authorized 50 billion to a southern barrier in 2006. H.R. 6061

@Greg: It doesn’t defy anything. It is protecting the border and interdicting drugs and criminals. But, Democrats stopped honoring the Constitution long ago; they only invoke it so STOP actions that make the country more secure or protects American citizens.
