The Department of Homeland Security has just released new “Policies for the Apprehension, Detention, and Removal of Undocumented Immigrants.” Designed to fill in the details after President Obama’s announcement that at least four million currently illegal immigrants will be given work permits, Social Security numbers and protection from deportation, the DHS guidelines are instructions for the nation’s immigration and border security officers as they administer the president’s directive.
The new priorities are striking. On the tough side, the president wants U.S. immigration authorities to go after terrorists, felons, and new illegal border crossers. On the not-so-tough side, the administration views convicted drunk drivers, sex abusers, drug dealers, and gun offenders as second-level enforcement priorities. An illegal immigrant could spend up to a year in prison for a violent crime and still not be a top removal priority for the Obama administration.
In the memo, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson says his department must develop “smart enforcement priorities” to exercise “prosecutorial discretion” in order to best use his agency’s limited resources. Johnson establishes three enforcement priority levels to guide DHS officers as they decide whether to stop, hold, or prosecute an illegal immigrant.

Convicted drunk drivers, sex abusers, drug dealers, and gun offenders are of a lesser priority than those who might be planning terrorist attacks or those already convicted of gang violence, which is nothing less than street-and-neighborhood-level terrorism.
Does anybody really believe someone who might be planning a Christmas season mall bombing or who has already endangered the lives of school children in their own neighborhoods should be given the same degree of attention as those whose prior offenses weren’t considered serious enough to merit felony convictions?
@Greg:
Greg, what you leftists don’t understand is that WE DO NOT TRUST YOUR ILK. And why should we, especially when those close to Obama have allegations like this?

And you can keep your damnable “right wing website” agitprop accusation caged up, as no one with an operating neuron would consider USA Today a right wing outlet.
You collectivists don’t want to admit that your repeated lies about everything have destroyed all credibility of any democrat – we will check for ourselves if you claim the sky is blue – we will never believe anything you utter, because your default setting is to lie for the advancement of your progressive enslavement of the country. Gruber’s videos clearly demonstrate that. Obama’s repeated lies about being able to keep your doctor and your insurance plan; not raising taxes; claiming obamacare was not a tax….clearly demonstrate that.
The problem with that statement is that the article isn’t actually about President Obama. It’s about a rich political supporter who turns out to be a child molester. Such people can and do turn up anywhere.
I’m not sure how much silence there is, since Brett M. Decker is standing on a soapbox yelling about it through a megaphone. Nor do I have any reason to think that any more attention would have been received by a “Bush bundler.” Bush received bad press because people didn’t like what Bush was doing. Obama receives plenty of bad press also, for the same reason. They’ve both had their share of irrational hatered.
