Confirmed: The State Department and a Leading Democrat Worked on Dossier Documents Provided by Christopher Steele

Loading

Government watchdog Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation released new information Wednesday showing a senior State Department official worked with House Majority Leader (Minority Whip at the time) Steny Hoyer in 2016 on Russia documents provided by British spy Christopher Steele.

“Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller News Foundation today released 18 pages of documents revealing former Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and Special Coordinator for Libya Jonathan Winer coordinating with then-House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer’s (D-MD) national security advisor, Daniel Silverberg to work on Russia dossier materials provided by Christopher Steele,” Judicial Watch released.

The documents were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit after requests for communications about the dossier were ignored by State Department officials. They show direct conversations between Fusion GPS’ Glenn Simpson, Winer and Nuland about getting together for a meeting about a “Russia related issue.”

From Hoyer’s office, Daniel Silverberg praised Nuland’s work on the issue and called her a “warrior.”

“It was a delight to speak today, notwithstanding the context. You’ve been a warrior on these issues, and I look forward to speaking further to preserve and wherever possible strengthen the important work you have done. I’ll follow up regarding a possible working group meeting,” Silverberg wrote to Nuland on November 28, 2016.

As a reminder, former Obama Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Evelyn Farkas admitted the Defense Department rushed to gather as much information as possible about the Trump campaign after President Trump won the 2016 election.

“I was urging my former colleagues and frankly speaking the people on the Hill, it was more actually aimed at telling the Hill people, get as much information as you can, get as much intelligence as you can, before President Obama leaves the administration,” Farkas said during an interview with MSNBC in 2017.

As the layers continue to be pulled back, the more we find out about how comprehensive the effort to take down the Trump presidency with claims of “Russia” really was and that it extended to multiple government agencies.

Multiple US agencies and multiple allied IC agencies.

@kitt: I wonder who could be at the top of this organization. Let us see. State Department, FBI, CIA, and many others?

@Randy: Its a mystery to me who would get daily briefings, and want to know everything the FBI lovebirds were doing….

HRC hired DC lawyer.
DC lawyer hired Fusion.
Fusion hired Steele.
Steele wrote fiction about Russia & Trump.
FBI investigated based on dossier.
HRC kept her mouth shut.
When pressed HRC admitted it was “Opposition Research.”
Now we know there was never any there, there.
Let’s get to the bottom of who pressed the gov’t into investigating Trump based on known lies.

Would anyone care to explain why the hell someone from the State Department and a congressional national security advisor WOULD NOT HAVE become involved when such documents came to light? The dossier materials provided by Christopher Steele raised a national security issue. Who do you imagine is supposed to become involved when something like that happens?

@Nan G: This is linked to project Cassandra https://www.politico.com/interactives/2017/obama-hezbollah-drug-trafficking-investigation
Barry wanted the info squashed and the news out of England about the Hezbollah bomb guys dont make the Iranis look bad.
Reminder, Flynn hated the Iran deal.
This is bigger than Trump who hated the Iran deal.

point him back to the FBI, is the State department an intelligence agency or do the just help make dossiers against Barrys enemies?

@Greg:

They weren’t “coming to light”. They were creating them. They were compiling them. They were inventing a story.

So, some of Obama’s people and Hoyer are cobbling together this “dossier” to weaponize against Trump, but Obama thinks there is enough evidence to authorize surveillance on an opposition Presidential campaign. Seems pretty thin for such a drastic and potentially explosive course of action.

Steele was supposedly working exclusively with the FBI. Now it turns out Congress and the State Department was involved. But Obama said he never knew anything about what was developing (though Strzok and Page state Obama wanted to be appraised of the progress). This is unraveling… FAST.

Gee, Greg. It’s looking exactly like all these investigations were absolutely nothing but a political operation. Just like we’ve been saying all along.

@Greg: The problem was they got involved prior to Steele writing the dossier. In other words, they initiated the information that Steele wrote about.

Not everyone at the State Dept was in on the joke.

Someone did the right thing and reported to the FBI the political leanings of this Jonathan Winer/Hillary spy.

@Deplorable Me: And they all lead to Biden’s boss!

@Randy: Did you ever think for a minute during one of our tours in Iraq that our own government under the direction of an American president would stoop to using some of the same tactics as Saddam Hussein?

@Deplorable Me, #8:

They weren’t “coming to light”. They were creating them.

And what evidence is there of that? NONE WHATSOEVER. It’s just another bullshit claim that doesn’t stand up to close inspection. The problem lies in the dates.

Here’s a link to the Judicial Watch article, with links to the documents they’re claiming as “confirmation”.

The earliest of all is an email exchange on September 19, 2016 between Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS and Jonathan Winer, inquirng if Winer is “in town?” Winer replies “For a couple of hours.”

The first time Russia comes up is September 26, 2016. Winer wants 15 minutes of Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland’s time to discuss a “Russia related issue.” Apparently this concerns what has been provided to Simpson by Steele, which was likely brought to Winer’s attention by Simpson on or shortly after September 19, the date of the first email.

Then, beginning November 28, 2016, there’s an exchange of emails suggesting the matter has actually been brought to Nuland’s attention in some detail.

Nearly all of the documents Christopher Steele filed with GPS had already been submitted prior to Nuland’s involvement. There’s a timeline that establishes when each individual document that was eventually compiled into Steele’s December 13, 2016 final report was originally submitted.

No doubt this is why neither the Townhall article nor the Judicial Watch article provides both the email dates and the dates Steele submitted his individual reports. When you consider both sets of dates together, the Judicial Watch “confirmation” claim makes no sense.

As is usually the case, they’re heaping together a bunch of details underneath an article title that’s actually the one thing they want to get stuck in their readers’ heads. Belief depends on the b.s. they’ve previously managed to put in people’s heads, and on the reader not carefully analyzing the article that follows. It’s all part of a disinformation campaign intended to counter a growing body do damning facts that could deep-six the good ship Trump the moment they’re all put together.

Today, we’ve got this—Trump openly acknowledging that he would ‘want to hear’ dirt on 2020 rivals from foreign governments, and suggesting he wouldn’t contact FBI about it.

That would be not only unethical, but illegal. Have they not yet figured that out, after all that’s happened, or is he just letting the world know that he doesn’t really give a damn?

@Greg: The Steele dossier was just a misdirection ploy to cover up the Obama illegal spying on US citizens Rodgers had already identified. This was the “insurance policy ” that the two FBI lovers discussed in their memos.

@another vet: The difference here is that a deck of 52 cards will not be large enough to include all the illegal actors photos! We would have to add a lot of Jokers!

@Randy: Canasta played with more than 1 deck of cards. I do think some were dupes. Like Gregs last comment?

That would be not only unethical, but illegal. Have they not yet figured that out, after all that’s happened, or is he just letting the world know that he doesn’t really give a damn?

Hillary solicited and paid for this stuff and he had his thong in a knot about Trump just commenting about it thats pretty dense. Might be something big coming out and the media just took the hook with their faux outrage. Let them explain it to their TV watching dolts why its so bad, only to find out Stinky and Barry did it in spades by actually asking our allied IC agencies to dig on Trump and his campaign people. There is an investigation in Italy right now.

@Greg:

And what evidence is there of that? NONE WHATSOEVER. It’s just another bullshit claim that doesn’t stand up to close inspection. The problem lies in the dates.

Um… what evidence is there that it isn’t true? NONE WHATSOEVER. By your own and Mueller’s system of justice, that alone means you can’t PROVE it untrue, so, therefore, it is TRUE.

But, aside from that, NONE of what they collected together and then used as evidence of reason to suspect Trump of collusion and investigate him and his campaign was true, so SOMEONE made it up, didn’t they? And here we are with some of the same folks that thought making up a story about some protesters of a video planned ahead for a “protest” well enough to collect hundreds of heavily armed “protesters” for a coordinated attack as well as having heavy mortars pre-sighted for targets would be a better story than an al Qaeda attack on the Benghazi consulate. The entire regime operated under a culture of lying.

As is usually the case, they’re heaping together a bunch of details underneath an article title that’s actually the one thing they want to get stuck in their readers’ heads.

Nah. It was just left out for “brevity“. It doesn’t change anything about the fact that the Obama administration was hip-deep in an attempt to cobble together lies with which to wreck the Trump campaign and then Presidency.

Today, we’ve got this—Trump openly acknowledging that he would ‘want to hear’ dirt on 2020 rivals from foreign governments, and suggesting he wouldn’t contact FBI about it.

If you had listened to the interview instead of simply taking the liberal translation, you’d have heard him say he WOULD have gone to the FBI. When asked if he would use the information or go to the FBI, he said he’d do both. If you would recall, Hillary collected HER Russian provided “research” AND talked to the FBI about it. She must have thought there was something wrong about what she did because when asked about it she, as usual, LIED about her association with it.

@Deplorable Me, #17:

I guess you can’t grasp the difficult point that emails exchanged with a State Department official after Steele had already submitted his reports to GPS can’t reasonably be viewed as confirmation that the State Department was helping him to write them.

@Greg: You can’t grasp the concept of what in the hell is the President of the United States and the State Department doing being involved in opposition research on an opposition candidate? Why was the powers of the federal government being used to attack a political opponent of the party in power? This indeed included illegal surveillance because we now know THEY knew the information was false. They just wanted to get into his campaign and did so through illicit surveillance. We also know the vast number of people that “scandal free” administration surveilled and had their names unmasked.

And at the same time you falsely accuse Trump of merely saying he would do exactly what Hillary, Obama and the DNC actually and absolutely DID.

@Deplorable Me: There is a lot in this world that Greg can not understand. I do not believe Greg can be as stupid as he appears. He is much more than a resistance drone. I believe that he is part of a subversive organization. Why else would he attack everything that this president accomplishes. He continues to state there is no border crisis even though there are more than $1,000,000 illegals pouring into this country every year now. What else can he be but a subversive?

@Randy:

I do not believe Greg can be as stupid as he appears.

Anyone that has to be a surrogate for the liberal agenda has to, by definition, look stupid much of the time. When one is going to declare that a few sentences in a phone conversation that provide ALL the context to the conversation were removed from Mueller’s report to save ink and paper, they know going in that they are going to look stupid. Have you ever met anyone that actually believes Hillary deleted 33,000 emails that were under subpoena because they were “personal”? I’ve only encountered one. I just hope it pays well.

@Greg: I hope your ready to find another job, bub. Your party is running out of money, voters, and honor.

Your party was caught rigging their own primary, and all of these lies you’re paid to spout are meant to distract from that.

The Dems should start rebuilding now, instead of pretending they have any clout left.

The margin of Trump’s 2020 victory is going to be much much greater, as you know. EC and pop vote.

@Deplorable Me, #19:

You can’t grasp the concept of what in the hell is the President of the United States and the State Department doing being involved in opposition research on an opposition candidate?

I don’t know… Maybe the President and State Department were quietly trying to determine if Don the Con might be a Russian mole? There were certainly plenty of red flags. There still are, in case you haven’t noticed. Inexplicably lifted Russian sanctions, contrary to the opinion of Congress; placing credence in Putin’s comments while disparaging our own intelligence community; failure to do diddly squat to protect our election system from Russian meddling, to the extend of denying that it even occurred…

Nor did anyone in the Obama administration reveal the existence of an investigation before the election, which they certainly would have done if the objective had been to sabotage Trump’s presidential campaign. Instead, Comey revealed that Clinton was still being investigated, which seriously damaged her. So how does this make sense in the context of the right’s goofy deep-state conspiracy theory?

It doesn’t. It makes no sense whatsoever.

@Greg: Always wrong, Steele leaked to Yahoo news September 23, 2016. September is before the election, this leak was used as evidence in the FISA warrant.
The Russian meddling happened on Obamas watch.
It isnt a theory its fact, there is real evidence, testimony , notes text messages, FISA documents.
The woman at state Dept tried to warn the head of the FBI investigation that Steeles story did not wash, and his motives were political.
Comey was sort of forced to since there were classified emails on a perverts lap top. Not that there was any intention of punishing anyone for theft of government documents. Huma should be behind bars.

@Greg:

I don’t know… Maybe the President and State Department were quietly trying to determine if Don the Con might be a Russian mole?

Based on what? Hillary’s research?

There were certainly plenty of red flags.

No there wasn’t. Not one bit. Nothing that they themselves had not invented or that had come from political opponents. Only what they WANTED to believe as an excuse to SPY on the campaign.

The only “red flag” was that Hillary was a disgusting, lying, corrupt, incompetent, criminal and that might cost her the election.

Sanctions are TOUGHER, the IC has shown themselves to be members of the attempted coup and it was OBAMA that did nothing to protect the 2016 election, genius, not Trump; he was in charge yet. Meanwhile, Obama had promised Putin to be “more flexible” (i.e., follow his commands) and part of that was, apparently, to block efforts to stop any Russian interference. Trump has confronted and stymied Putin at every turn. There is NO evidence or indication any of the false accusations ever had even a hint of credibility to them.

Hillary, not Trump, had the history of accepting bundles of cash from Russians in exchange for “speeches” and “favors” (and uranium), yet were was the investigation into HER motives?

Nor did anyone in the Obama administration reveal the existence of an investigation before the election, which they certainly would have done if the objective had been to sabotage Trump’s presidential campaign.

Seriously? You think they were going to let the cat out of the bag that they were conducting illegal surveillance on Trump and his campaign? Had they actually FOUND something, they could have, but the facts of the matter was that they were merely LOOKING for something to use, by any means possible, legal or not, and they could find NOTHING. Still, after three (or is it four?) years, they can find NOTHING. It was all a political witch hunt which developed into an attempted coup which is developing into an attempted cover-up.

Instead, Comey revealed that Clinton was still being investigated, which seriously damaged her.

Well, she actually COMMITTED CRIMES. See, there’s a difference between investigating a crime committed and searching in the hopes of FINDING a crime.

Police state bullshit.

@Greg:

So how does this make sense in the context of the right’s goofy deep-state conspiracy theory?

How does the goofy Russia collusion conspiracy make sense, then? Trump was exonerated. The current hail-mary is to find something weak to charge him for obstruction, because the Russia conspiracy was a hoax.

That the intelligence community was corrupted and occupied by Democrat-bought operatives has some teeth, however.

The Trump criminal hoax is a way to cover the Obama-FBI reality.
