And the empire’s refusal to acknowledge the legitimacy of these developments will prove utterly irrelevant.
Western media and puppet politicians can scream “Russian aggression” and “sham election” all they want, but the unadorned fact is that these regions are overwhelmingly ethnic Russians whose collective desire is to be reunited with what they view as a powerful and ascendant Russia.
In conjunction with this shrewd political act, Vladimir Putin will almost certainly announce later today a major escalation of Russian military action in Ukraine – very likely at least a partial mobilization of Russia’s as yet untapped military might.
This will result in a rapid acceleration in the ongoing process of annihilation of the Ukrainian military, its mountains of NATO weaponry, and its numerous “foreign volunteers”.
This, of course, presents the empire with an existential dilemma. The defeat of NATO’s proxy army, weapons, and leadership in Ukraine at the hands of the Russians will be viewed all around the world as an unprecedented defeat of American hegemony; a watershed moment that will carry with it profound geopolitical consequences.
As I have argued for months now, it will mean the end of NATO as a credible military alliance. It will mean the end of the European Union as presently constituted.
In other words, a decisive defeat of the empire’s aspirations in Ukraine will be viewed in Washington, London, and Brussels as an existential threat – which it is. And, as such, it is difficult for me to envision them submissively acquiescing to the outcome

Biden had to deal with the circumstances as they existed on his first day in office. There was no rolling back the sea-change of shifting tribal and local alliances that had already occurred during the year after Trump’s representatives signed the Doha Agreement on February 29, 2020.
Beginning March 10, 2020, in accordance with that agreement, and under pressure from Trump’s State Department, the government of Afghanistan began releasing 1,500 designated Taliban fighters and officials at a rate of 100 per day.
On March 19, 2020, a DoD Inspector General report revealed that 4,000 US troops had already been secretly pulled out, despite escalating Taliban violence.
On August 18, 2020, another DoD IG report indicated the Taliban was not distancing itself from terrorist organizations, as agreed. This was ignored, and on September 3, the last captive Taliban prisoners were released. That included not only the previous 1,500, but another 5,000.
On November 16, 2020, it was leaked that additional US troops were being secretly withdrawn. In response, on the following day, it was announced that US troop levels would be reduced to a total of 2,500 by January 15, 2021—5 days before Biden would be inaugurated.
On January 15, 2021, the Trump administration announced that that had been done, and that only 2,500 US troops remained.
On that day, the Vice President of Afghanistan commented to the BBC he had warned the US that trusting the Taliban without putting a verification mechanism in place would be a fatal mistake. He pointed out that he’d been proven correct.
On January 20, 2021 Joe Biden was sworn in as President. It was too damn late to reverse course. Biden could either continue the withdrawal, formulating some plan to extract as many friendlies as possible before Kabul fell, or be the guy who re-invaded. All of that US military equipment fools talk about was already gone. The Taliban already had it, or was positioned to take it.
Those are the facts. As a national and world leader, Trump was, and remains, far worse than useless. He’s a threat to the US Constitution, to the rule of law, to domestic peace and tranquility, and to every principle America stands for.
Trump remains, by numbers and empirical date, one of the best and most effective Presidents in the history of the United States.
