This one is a little different than usual, but I wanted to break down the news cycle around the police shooting of Ma’Khia Bryant.

Then, later that night, the body cam footage of the officer came out. It clearly shows the officer shooting Bryant just as she is about to stab another child.

At the risk of being uncharitable, it is inconceivable to me that, anything but what the officer did would have resulted in serious harm to or the death of the other girl.
But this point was entirely lost among the reporting and the conversation more broadly.

@NPR’s storytelling here is a classic case of how outlets can set narratives that are too stubborn to yield to updated information.
Look at the number of retweets for the supposed story vs. the updated, more accurate version post-body cam.

And others included that there was body cam footage but deliberately elide what the video actually shows: a police officer protection a girl who otherwise could well have been killed.

Lots of activists jumped on the cause -facts be damned- to push the narrative.

There was also a rush to equate the experience of Bryant with that of Kyle Rittenhouse.

Plenty of people just acted in bad faith. @ProfessorCrunk, @ValerieJarrett, @BreeNewsome & others tried to act like knife fights are a routine part of adolescents.

The first requirement of the Demediacrats is to assume cops are racist murderers. Otherwise, when they begin to write such garbage, they would have to pause and say to themselves, “Wait… it COULDN’T have gone down like that; there has to be more details. I better hold off. I would HATE to incite more violence and racial hatred by issuing false, inflammatory reports.”
Of course, one would also need to not have the prime goal of actually CAUSING more violence and racial hatred.
A comparison to Rittenhouse is appropriate. What saved Rittenhouse’s life? Well, he put his hands up, surrendered peacefully and cooperated with police, NOT lunge at someone with an 8″ knife. Likewise, Senator Tim Scott has recounted how Capital police has questioned his access to the Capital. How did Sen. Scott survive an encounter with a cop making a wrong assumption? Well, he didn’t attack the cop and kill him; he took the insult to a higher authority and followed protocols.
The obvious assumption is that there is no situation where a black person is subjected to law enforcement. Nothing they do should ever draw law enforcement action. If it happens, it is the result of racism, not the violation of commonly accepted laws.
Everything the left does makes society more dangerous. It could be the result of their utter stupidity and selfishness but more than likely, it is completely intentional and planned.
Facts have no place in the daily lives of Demediacrats.
FA, you are racists. Your job is to start a race war, in order to obtain broader news coverage. A justified shooting which stops a murder is not needed. What is needed is a cop shooting a black youth, so BLM and Antifa will have a reason to riot. Rioting is fun: you get on the news, you get to steal stuff, you get to destroy stuff, it is a real rush. Besides, how is Marxism going to take over without mobs?

Fox consistently leads in the ratings because they, for the most part, present the most honest, fair and balanced news presentation among the big guns. They aren’t perfect, but considering what they are compared with, they are exemplary.
Treating the consumers as intelligent people who can digest the truth and make rational decisions will get ratings. But, that’s not the purpose of the media; their job is to hide the massive failings of the Democrats and deflect their failures, corruption and crimes elsewhere, ideally to the Republicans.
