As Zika arrives in U.S., Dems who blocked funding over Planned Parenthood demand action

Hot Air:

The first four cases of Zika transmitted directly by infected mosquitoes inside the United States were announced Friday by the Florida Department of Health. CNN reports:

“While no mosquitoes trapped tested positive for the Zika virus, the department believes these cases were likely transmitted through infected mosquitoes in this area,” according to a statement from the Florida Department of Health.

“As we anticipated, Zika is here,” Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Friday, adding that “all the evidence we have seen indicates that this is mosquito-borne transmission that occurred several weeks ago.”…

Officials believe the local transmission is confined to a small area north of downtown Miami within a single ZIP code.

Now that the disease has arrived, Democrats are demanding the GOP hold an emergency session of congress to pass new funding.

There’s just one problem with this fresh outrage from Democrats. They are the ones whoblocked the Zika funding bill last month knowing congress was about to leave town for a month. Why did they do this? Because the GOP bill cut Planned Parenthood out of the Zika funding. From the Wall Street Journal:

Obama also was upset with the Zika funding bill.
It wasn’t generous enough in his view.
He looks at every bill as an opportunity to use taxpayer money as a slush fund for his liberal buddies.
I guess Planned Parenthood was one of those he wanted to be generous to with other people’s money.

BTW, the logic in FLA of banning blood transfusions until the medical officials know how to deal with accurate testing for Zika in blood sounds suspiciously like Trump’s idea of temporarily ceasing Muslim immigration until we know how to deal with proper vetting, huh.

The DNC needs to all get Zika after all their acts of treason and crimes against humanity they need to get realy sick but not die hell already has too many and heaven dont allow for traitors

“Now that the disease has arrived, Democrats are demanding the GOP hold an emergency session of congress to pass new funding.”

So tell me John Sexton, you lying sack of fill in the blank, why did republicans add a provision barring Planned Parenthood funding to the Zika legislation to begin with?

Zika Bill Fails Largely Because of Planned Parenthood Debate

“The bill includes an ideological rider blocking access to contraception for women in the United States, including women in Puerto Rico, even though this is a sexually transmitted disease.”

Indeed, sexual transmission cases in Florida have now been verified, as well as mosquito transmission.

This kind of moronic crap is why your republican-majority House and Senate now have a 12.8 percent approval rating.

@Greg: What does it matter? Unless Democrats want innocent babies to be born with birth defects due to Zika infection, they need to vote for the funding.

That’s how the liberals have worked it for about 10 years now. How do you like it turned on you? Vote for the bill or hate babies. Those are your choices.

Zika in america do you suppose its becuase of all those so called refugees Obama the Fink and the Useless Nations is bringing in?

@Spurwing Plover: I think I predicted this several months ago due to the uncontrolled immigration of illegals from south of the US border. This is another example of the unintended consequences forced upon our country by the left wing ideology. If the blame is assigned fairly upon Obama’s illegal immigration, FL my move more towards Trump.

U.S. officials provide stopgap Zika funds, Congress urged to act

Federal health officials, scrambling to fund efforts to combat the spread of the Zika virus in the United States, said on Tuesday they have provided more stopgap money to various locales while calls grew for Congress to cut short its recess and act.

President Barack Obama in February asked the Republican-led Congress to approve about $1.9 billion in emergency funds to fight Zika at home and abroad and pursue a vaccine, but lawmakers have not passed funding legislation.

“These awards are a stopgap diverted from other public health resources until Zika funds are provided by Congress,” the CDC said in a statement.

CDC provided $25 million last month in similar stopgap funding.

Republican Florida Senator Marco Rubio, seeking re-election this year after an unsuccessful bid for his party’s presidential nomination, called on the Senate to interrupt its summer recess to pass Zika legislation.

“I hope we’ll return to Washington quickly, take a day and just pass this funding measure so we can start to get funds flowing,” Rubio said on Monday in Clearwater, Florida.

…because continuing to politicize the issue is crazy. Maybe republicans should have chosen that guy.
