Amnesty cost: $6 trillion

What is the goal of immigration reform?

As Heritage President Jim DeMint put it yesterday, “Any immigration reform should improve the lives, the incomes, and the opportunities” of those who are lawfully in America.

The Gang of Eight’s amnesty proposal does the opposite by burdening taxpayers with supporting unlawful immigrants. The Heritage Foundation’s new report estimates that an amnesty like the Gang of Eight’s bill would cost U.S. taxpayers $6.3 trillion.

“We’re advocating on behalf of those who have come here lawfully and all American taxpayers—this is going to be a huge cost to them, and it will diminish opportunities in the future,” DeMint said on “Your World with Neil Cavuto” yesterday.

The $6.3 trillion number is the cost to taxpayers of supporting unlawful immigrants under amnesty, including any taxes those immigrants would pay into the system versus the amount of government benefits and services they would take out.

On an individual level, the number is just as stunning. As Heritage experts and study authors Robert Rector and Jason Richwine write, “the average adult unlawful immigrant would receive $592,000 more in government benefits over the course of his remaining lifetime than he would pay in taxes.”

Whatever the new immigration reform requires, it should most definitely require this:

All illegal persons (as in unlawful killing, robbing or stealing), MUST first EXIT the United States completely and totally — sell their homes and businesses and get out. Separation of families should be no different than when two parents of children are apprehended after robbing a bank and their children are separated from them into alternative care (family relatives or social services). That’s for those children who are citizens. But all of those Mexicans, Guatemalans, Ethiopians, Cubans, and others who are NOT here legally should first be escorted out of the U.S. and then apply for the newly reformulated immigration requests.

There is no end to continual (every 20 years or so) amnesties and rushes into the United States to qualify for freebees. Let’s stop it now. Anyone caught, and a vigorous search and removal should take place, in the United States should be jailed and exported.

Our social services, schools, and public assistance are at the breaking point. We must have the courage to stand up to lawlessness. No one in the United States should be here without authority to be here.

Yes, it seems harsh; but remember that illegal persons in the U.S. are outlaws. Punish them and see no more freely migrating peoples from the south or north, or from anywhere. When persons illegally in the U.S. learn that there is no gain and there will be punishment for their illegal actions, they will vanish, leave, exit.

Obama and his band of merry-men are traitors to the law, conspirators of illegal acts, accomplices to illegal activity and corrupt purveyors of handouts that they are not authorized to hand out. Default amnesty every 20 or 30 years is a formula for disaster and unacceptable further denigration of our laws.
