In this context, equity implies fairness, justice, and impartiality, while
equality implies a sameness of result. There’s nothing at all “twisted” about the distinction.
An equitable economic system doesn’t guarantee equal results; only that the system isn’t rigged in such a way as to strongly favor some people at the expense of others who are unfairly exploited.
Given human nature in general, and the fact that some people are possessed of unbridled acquisitiveness and greed that no level of wealth will ever satisfy, any system where wealth can be used to buy more power and power can be used to acquire more wealth requires a redistribute mechanism to keep the greediest bastards from acquiring everything and ruling everybody. A progressive tax schedule serves that purpose well.

FDR’s job creations resulted in highways, bridges, man made lakes, dams, and a wide range of infrastructure. That investment resulted in marinas, motels, dining, tourism, and more. Generations of lifelong jobs were created which many are still thriving businesses today.
Obama’s “shovel ready” comment I assume refers to the 2009 $800 billion stimulus which Trump falsely claimed: “There was a very large infrastructure bill that was approved during the Obama administration, $1 trillion, and nobody ever saw anything being built. To this day I haven’t heard of anything that’s been built. They took this money and used it on social programs.”.
Aside from Trump falsely adding an extra $200 billion, this was a rushed bill because at the time, unemployment was at 8% and rising by the second, the housing market was in free fall, the automotive industry at a stand still. and the banking industry in a near predicament as the Great Depression, Trump’s claim has been easily slapped down my about every fact-checker.
For starters, the Obama admin was highly criticized for money spent on signage advertising construction areas so Trump’s lie that “nobody ever saw anything being built.” is incorrect.
The Transportation Department’s website maintained a list of stimulus projects, from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act including “initiated more than 13,000 projects through the Federal Highway Administration, improving more than 42,000 miles of road and more than 2,700 bridges.”
The quick action of Obama and Democrats is what lifted the GOP and GWB ruined economy from the ashes and ultimately handed con man Don a sound economy which he (as republicans do) promtly destroyed and left for Dems to once again repair. And again, just like in 2009, with Regressives doing all they can to sabotage all efforts for political gain.
The difference in the New Deal and the 2009 Dem stimulus from Keystone is that Keystone’s ultimate goal is to reduce cost (ultimately by cheaper transporting which equates to less jobs) in order to make big oil more profit. FDR and Obama’s initiatives ultimately created and/or maintained jobs.
