Snopes is self-described as a fact checking site. It does a fair job when politics is not involved. When politics is involved it turns into a democrat ass kissing rag. Snopes is well recognized to be biased toward the left. Snopes has been reduced to fact checking memes, repeatedly fact checking the blatantly obvious satire of the Babylon Bee.

What I have noticed over the years is that Snopes generally gives a full throated approval of anything a democrat says but parses the hell out of something Republicans say.

This post is one perfect example of that.

On January 6, 2021 Snopes posted this article:

Did Trump Tell Supporters to Storm US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021?

Sounds simple enough, right?

What exactly did Trump say? This is what he said about that:

“I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

The key word here being “peacefully.” No one in the MFM ever mentions that. It’s all he said about marching.

So what did Snopes conclude?

“Mixture”

What’s True

U.S. President Donald Trump did tell supporters on Jan. 6, 2021, to gather at the U.S. Capitol and try to convince members of Congress to delay the constitutional process that would affirm Biden’s presidency.

What’s False

Trump did not explicitly tell people to “storm” or “breach” or “break into” the Capitol.

Excuse me?

It’s true that Trump tell supporters to gather at the Capitol? Why yes, but there’s one thing

THAT WASN’T THE QUESTION

They created a straw man to get that coveted “Mixture” rating.

And that “False” conclusion?

“Trump did not explicitly tell people to “storm” or “breach” or “break into” the Capitol.”?

Explicitly??

That kind of conclusion requires getting into someone’s mind. What one reads in that post is opinion being presented as fact. As Trump did EXPLICITY ask the marchers to be peaceful, this conclusion is nonsensical. They parse out and distort anything Republicans say so they can impugn it, facts be damned.

The answer to the question was NO. It was that simple.

This is why Snopes sucks. This is what just destroys their integrity.  As the Babylon Bee would say
