For the most part, Americans have been wearing masks. That has been my experience in several states over the last 6 months. Yet cases continue to climb.
It remains difficult to take seriously these demands for masks when protests (against Trump) are not stifled, ridiculous exemptions are permitted and democrat leaders flaunt the rules they would impose on others.
The growing list of leaders who have frolicked at dinners, hair appointments, and traveled on vacations while urging Americans to stay at home includes: California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, Austin Mayor Steve Adler, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
Their violations are often met with runaround excuses, and as Hemingway noted, “it’s unclear if they just think that the rules don’t apply to them but only the little people, or whether they don’t think the rules actually matter at all in terms of public health.”
Austin Mayor Steve Adler tops the list of those jackasses:
“We need to stay home if you can. This is not the time to relax … We may have to close things down if we are not careful,” Austin Mayor Steve Adler pleaded in a Facebook live video Nov. 9.
What he failed to mention is that he was filming that video while vacationing in Cabo … after hosting his daughter’s wedding and reception in Austin.
It makes you wonder why anyone should heed anything they say. Which leads me back to masks. People give Trump a lot of crap for not hectoring people to wear masks, but there is one person who is more responsible for Americans not wearing masks than anyone else.

When the pandemic was exploding back in March, it was Fauci who told people not to wear masks.
“Right now, in the United States, people should not be walking around with masks. There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask.”

In late February Fauci said there was no reason for anyone in the US to change their daily habits.

Since then there is not a position on COVID that Fauci has not taken. He ignored the data on schools despite the data. Then he finally decided he wanted schools to open.
And people wonder why Trump has a problem with Fauci. Fauci made all the mistakes, and Trump gets all the blame.
Biden has asked Fauci to stay on. The confusion will continue.

Hopefully Fauci realizes everything he has said about how well Trump has handled the control of the epidemic is archived, though making contradictory statements never seems to slow down a liberal in full lying mode.
Every once in a while, someone will acknowledge that this was a “novel” virus which few knew exactly how to handle. Either the CCP and WHO blatantly lied about human transmission or they simply didn’t know (I think they lied) but mistakes were made. The problem is, the left is very selective as to who they allow the benefit of the doubt to. Trump has followed the “science” explicitly, yet when the “science” was wrong, Trump is blamed for every death (even those heart attacks and motorcycle accidents that killed people). Meanwhile, Biden claims that had HE been running things, NO ONE would have died. Furthermore, he promises that after 100 days of wearing masks, there will be NO MORE COVID19. Next he’ll be mandating wearing a walking boot to prevent foot damage.
It’s pretty easy to impose draconian rules and laws on the population when those passing the laws have absolutely NO intention of following them themselves… unless they see the cameras rolling.
Originally, back when not even all the medical people could obtain masks, much less the rest of us, Fauci was honest: masks won’t protect the WEARER from viruses, masks only protect those near the mask wearer from germs he/she might otherwise spread.
Then masks became widely available, especially homemade ones (not the 95 versions).
Fauci practically made it a religion that we should wear them.
Now, a study the liberal tech giants and media wants cancelled showed that 90% of all covid cases happened when people were wearing masks!
(Juan Williams was practically livid about anyone who might not have a mask on in public, even someone alone in a car. Yet Juan Williams is in quarantine with bad symptoms after getting covid!)
A few months ago President Trump pointed out how 99.99 people under 45 got better even if they got covid, so the schools should open.
Fauci contradicted him in behalf of the teachers’ union and insisted the schools stay closed.
Then, the election.
Trump has not changed his tune, he still wants the schools to open.
But, just before this covid rise, Fauci was saying Now the schools could be opened.
Fauci is the one whose “science” changes from one day to the next.
If we play Simon Says, I mean, SCIENCE Says, we’d be battered from pillar to post trying to keep up with “current truth.”
Fauci won’t wear a mask unless he feels like wearing one.

If you design a covid PCR test with a cycle threshold of 40, then you are going for maximal sensitivity – the probability of missing a case is minimized, but you’re going to get a lot more false positives than if you set the threshold at 30.

I know Joe Biden alleged, with no proof to back himself up, that we would lose 225,000 just in Dec from Covid, but the numbers don’t back him up at all.
We’d need 9,300 deaths per day from Covid alone, to reach Joe’s scare quote.
But, most of the bulk of those dead “from Covid” up until recently, were not really dead from covid.
There was a financial incentive to putting covid on a death certificate, so doctors did that, even when covid had nothing to do with the death. Think George Floyd, for a good example.
Some experts have guestimated that real covid deaths are 1/10th of what the CDC and Johns Hopkins claim they are.
And since the new tests for covid run the PCR over 40 times, instead of 20-to-30 times, many more false positives are created. If these poor sots die afterwards (of ANYTHING) they are said to “die of covid.”

But Trump NEVER said the virus was a hoax or fake news. He said the Democrat accusations that he was doing nothing or bungling the response was fake news, which it obviously was.

That on March 8th, Dr. Fauci himself is on record as stating “there’s no reason to be walking around with a mask”? Yawn. Tell me all about ‘masks’ Karen. If you think part of a recycled t-shirt is going to save you, you might want to perform a little more research.
One of the positions I held prior to retirement required me to be certified as a hazardous materials technician. If you want to talk about masks, read up on the OSHA and NIOSH requirements for masks, respirators and fit testing in hazardous atmospheres before opining too much. I had to pass a test on it.
If you buy a pre-made mask, take a look at the fine print. Every one I’ve looked at says ‘Not a medical device’. Why? That’s so they can’t be sued if/when you catch COVID since they know they don’t meet the necessary requirements to prevent exposure.
If it isn’t rated N-95 and you haven’t passed a respirator fit test with the specific device you’re wearing, your IQ is somewhere between your shoe size and your belt size if you think it’s going to provide any protection.
Not only that; lockdown states allow dentist type face shields to meet their mask mandates. My non-scientific guess would be that the ‘seal’ is not particularly effective on those and does absolutely nothing to prevent the ‘exposure to harmful pathogens’.
Those who get ‘holier-than-thou’ about masks, especially the ones that ‘pass’ the nanny state mandates, are fooling themselves.
