Benedict Romney votes to convict Trump- Updated

Pierre Delecto has decided to vote to convict Donald Trump,

“The president is guilty of an appalling abuse of public trust. What he did was not perfect. No, it was a flagrant assault under electoral rights, our national security and our fundamental values,” he declared.

after much handwringing and a consultation with God

“I swore an oath before God to exercise impartial justice. I am profoundly religious. My faith is at the heart of who I am. I take an oath before God as enormously consequential,” said the senator.

I don’t believe that for a second.

Lots of theories have coursed through the internet as to why Romney would take this action.

That’s very reasonable. But here’s a biggie. Mitt’s former campaign national security adviser is on the Board of Directors or Burisma, of Hunter Biden fame.

Joseph Cofer Black, a national security adviser for the 2012 Mitt Romney campaign, sits on the board of directors of Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian oil and gas giant that paid at times more than $83,000 per month to Hunter Biden, former Vice President Joe Biden’s youngest son.

The American Thinker, which first brought the story to light, noted it is “an odd coincidence that Mitt has as CNN puts it ‘been a lone Republican voice expressing concern about President Donald Trump’s July phone call with Volodymyr Zelensky in which Trump asked Ukraine’s President to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his family.’”

In October 2011, Romney announced that Black, who had served in the CIA since 1974, had been selected as a special adviser.

“I am deeply honored to have the counsel of this extraordinary group of diplomats, experts, and statesmen,” Romney said at the time. “Their remarkable experience, wisdom, and depth of knowledge will be critical to ensuring that the 21st century is another American Century.”

Seems that Burisma wanted to buy influence with more than just Joe Biden.

Romney did get Schiff’s endorsement. Then again, Trump is more popular in Utah than is Romney.

Now let’s crank up the Wayback Machine to 2016 and see what Romney had to say about Trump:

Romney is no Amazing Kreskin

But when he ran for the Senate in 2014 Romney sought and got Trump’s support

And how does Romney repay that support?

Stab Trump in the back. It is vintage Romney.

I expect that next Romney will switch parties and complete his journey to the dark side. The one thing that Romney does best of all is lose. Then again something that Steve Guest posted on Twitter has a point.

He’s probably right. Romney now will live in the political twilight between light and dark, hated by both parties. Expect Romney to vote against the next Trump SCOTUS nominee as well.

A**hole

And Manchin is likely politically dead

Let me see… you know, I can’t remember Romney denouncing Durbin, Menendez and Leahy for sending Ukraine a letter telling them their aid depended on them providing dirt on Trump to Mueller. Oh, and Trump was a 2020 candidate at the time. Does Romney just turn his moral principles on and off?

Then your can just Leave with the rest of you traitors

We could always count on John McCain to stab us in the back. Now we have mittens. Both could be counted on to vote with the democrats, and against republican interests. And yet, both were nominated for president by the republican party. Why is that?

Moron. Lost an election.

Enough said.

It’s pathological. He can’t shake knowing a deplorable like Trump won while he failed.

This will never end, and he’s lost his wits.

Or…he’s just representing the Utah Mormons who secretly pull his strings.

[DELETED COMMENT FROM OUR RESIDENT SOCK PUPPET GARY MILLER]

He’s only man of moral courage the GOP has left in the Senate.

@Nathan Blue: That was supposed to read “Mormon”, not “Moron”…but it’s funny how easy it is to mistype those two titles.

@Greg:

He’s only man of moral courage the GOP has left in the Senate.

You can have him.
He knew his vote would’nt make a pinch of difference but he is the news cycle.
The Democrats prancing pony of the minute long news cycle.
His little petty look at me moment.
Rip Kirk Douglas at 103

@Quartermaster:We could always count on John McCain to stab us in the back. Now we have mittens. Both could be counted on to vote with the democrats, and against republican interests. And yet, both were nominated for president by the republican party. Why is that?

In pre-Trump days many Republicans were globalists just as much as the Dems were.
Remember when the National Review had an issue called “Never Trump” and 70 of them signed on?
Bill Kristol (one of them) has recently joined the Dem party.
Romney is Mormon and the Mormons had been so inbred that they allowed blacks in just for the DNA.
Later they encouraged even wider flung marriages to foreign born mates who would broaden their dna base.
To achieve that they became globalists.
They encourage foreigners into Utah so their un-marriagable men and women can find desperate mates willing to marry in exchange for residency/citizenship.

Now as to how Utah got stuck with Mitt: Mormons cheated, bigtime!
We had a primary system in place for years where the top two ran against one another for the candidacy.
But Mitt came in THIRD!
So, at the last minute, Mormons forced in a petition system.
Mitt only asked fellow Mormons to sign it.
He stopped after reaching the minimum number and adding about 7 more signatures (just in case.)
Once on the ballot the three split the votes so that Mitt barely won the primary.
Faced with a Dem, Mitt or an Independent, we (and loads of us) voted for the Independent.
Still Mitt won because in Utah most Reps vote blindly for whoever is the R without thinking.

We just passed a bill to the gov’s desk to recall Mitt.
People here despise him, unless they are Mormons.
Mormons actually think Mitt is some Mormon messiah on a horse prophesy come to earth!

@Greg: I guess you mean “Sell out the party in order to save it.” Save it for what? To be the junior annex to the democrat party, as it has been for some years now? The question was, why are the so-called republican standard bearers simply junior democrats? Is the country best served by a single overarching political party?

@Linda Baum: @Greg: Oh, really. So, where was Mr. Standing Tall Christian Principles when THIS happened?

Menendez, Durbin and Leahy threatened Ukraine to continue investigations of Trump in 2018 and feed Mueller
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/09/24/democrats-wrote-to-ukraine-in-may-demanding-it-investigate-trump/

Jill Biden and Mitt Romney will be the Dem ticket.

An investigation based on lies and collusion into POTUS that led to a process in the House that resembled what exists in Cuba, China, Venezuela, and the former USSR whereby there was no due process that resulted in two made up crimes being sent to the Senate where they wanted to continue their one sided antics by only calling their witnesses. Stalin and the like would have been proud. 100% of the demokrats in the Senate voted in favor of this Soviet style justice system and all but one Republican voted against it and for the U.S. Constitution.

Romney, as the only ‘R’ who voted for it, needs to be held accountable. Even Susan Collins, who was threatened by unhinged dems, had the courage to vote the articles down. Romney showed he has no backbone and is more concerned about being butthurt about his failed candidacy for POTUS and pandering to the left because he wants very much to be accepted by them and take McCain’s place as their new “favorite Republican”. Unlike McCain, he will be around to be held accountable for backstabbing his constituents.

@Greg: He suckered you right in. Romney’s vote had nothing to do with Trump.

When it comes to Romney it’s always all about Romney.

The last two Republican candidates for president prior to Trump were both traitors to their party. That’s what R’s got for listening to Democrats about who to nominate. Trump smashed the system.

(I’m not a Republican.)

@Linda Baum: Your words make no sense with each other.

[DELETED COMMENT FROM OUR RESIDENT SOCK PUPPET GARY MILLER]

@Linda Baum: Speaking of spines and right and wrong, you reckon you will be getting around to addressing #11 anytime soon? I know Greg will dodge it… what will you do?

@Deplorable Me: Why are you talking to Greg who calls himself Linda so he has someone agreeing with him on the thread? he puts on a goodwill wig types his opinion then takes it off and reads it agreeing with his feminine side.

@kitt: Maybe between the two of them there’s a set of balls.

@Deplorable Me: Not something I would bet the farm on

Mitt Romney, today, explaining his vote.

“I take an oath before God as being enormously consequential.”

Maybe that one factor made all of the difference.

Full transcript

@Greg:

Maybe that one factor made all of the difference.

Says the atheist.

Romney is free to think and vote as he sees fit. Disagreement within parties, states, and societies are what a healthy republic is made of.

You’re no fan of Romney, however, so it’s both disingenuous and cowardly for you to suddenly support the man now.

Still, our government repelled a soft coup and the Dem party is scrambling to figure out who it is, what it stands for, and what to do next.

It’s next efforts to illegally remove Trump, if they actually try, will be very weak, and very half-hearted. Their spirit has been broken.

@Greg: The best soundbite today the Republicans voted to let the President run free.
\I guess thats suppose to be a bad thing.

@Nathan Blue, #22:

I admire the courage of any man who takes a public stand for his most deeply held principles, even when he knows it will anger his friends and make him a target of more powerful but lesser men—one stunning example of which currently occupies the White House.

Still, our government repelled a soft coup and the Dem party is scrambling to figure out who it is, what it stands for, and what to do next.

Your party became complicit in a painfully obvious cover-up that damaged our system of government, and the entire process was televised. Since the Senate vote was never in doubt to begin with, an attentive observer might wonder who has actually been successful at what. The answer may gradually become apparent over the next 9 months.

Democrats know what their party stands for. The process of selecting a candidate helps to define the current priorities. No doubt it’s inconvenient for Donald not to know exactly where to focus his disinformation and attacks. Maybe he can just vent his anger on Mitt Romney for a while.

Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump

Had failed presidential candidate @MittRomney devoted the same energy and anger to defeating a faltering Barack Obama as he sanctimoniously does to me, he could have won the election. Read the Transcripts!

A public confession that one’s faith requires an oath before God to be taken very seriously is not sanctimony, you bloviating gasbag. It’s a sort of humbleness in the face of the holy that you would find utterly incomprehensible. Romney lost an election. He was not diminished by that. He is anything but a failure.

@Greg: A lot of people take oaths before God. Unfortunately, their judgement occurs later when those alive can not know if the oath was valid.

@Greg: So, without an investigation of Biden’s corruption, how can Romney know that Trump did anything solely for his own benefit, despite the fact that Zelensky never knew the aid was delayed, never made any public announcement “demanded” and got the aid anyway? No, Romney was doing nothing but trying to settle some childish, personal score with Trump. In the end, Trump wins and Romney is a joke.

I admire the courage of any man who takes a public stand for his most deeply held principles, even when he knows it will anger his friends and make him a target of more powerful but lesser men

Oh, really. Have you noticed the attacks, hatred, threats aimed at Trump because he believes in this country and is willing to do the things necessary to make this nation, for the benefit of the people, stronger and safer? Try again, Scooter, that don’t quite fly.

Your party became complicit in a painfully obvious cover-up that damaged our system of government, and the entire process was televised.

As previously shown, what the sore losers accused Trump of doing NEVER HAPPENED, so it is absolutely impossible to cover up something that does not exist.

If Romney could have just stood up to Candy Crowley he might have won the Presidency. Then maybe he wouldn’t be such a butthurt crybaby.

By the way, will you be answering #11 anytime this century? Or, is that the scale of hypocrisy you simply can’t face?

[DELETED COMMENT FROM OUR RESIDENT SOCK PUPPET GARY MILLER]

@Linda Baum: Oh, AJ… answering for hypocrisy is a “silly game”? I guess having the guts to face up to your lies is a “silly game”, too.

@Greg:

Romney lost an election. He was not diminished by that. He is anything but a failure.

You’re not religious. You hate religion. Stop trying to use it now.

Statements of religious fervor by politicians are, as used recently by Pelosi and even Trump, just bullshit posturing. And he’s Mormon, so there’s another layer there that many can argue against.

God, your full of sh*t. I can’t even believe the level of garbage you suddenly “support” because you’re just trying to get the last word. Suddenly, Romney is “holy”? You’ll say anything, I guess.

Democrats know what their party stands for.

Really? Seems no one in reality can seem to figure out what that is. They are a dithering mess right now, and just claiming they are not isn’t going to erase how scattered and unorganized they are.

The current plight of the Dems:
Can’t caucus correctly – modern tech baffles them.
Illegal impeachment stunt.
Real corruption evident in both the US and the world stage.
The ex-mayor of a small town is a potential front runner.
Their platform is “free-stuff and everyone we hate is racist!”
Followers are violent and hateful, demonstrably…

The Democrat Party has NO idea what it stands for, beyond just trying to take and retain control. That’s why it’s failing.

@Greg:

Your party became complicit in a painfully obvious cover-up that damaged our system of government,

Hahaha…yeah, that phone call was “covered up”…I mean it was released and the Dems had to double down and lie.

What’s being covered up is Dem corruption in the Ukraine and abroad. That’s what this impeachment was about…like a squid inking when caught.

You know it.

@Nathan Blue:

God, your full of sh*t. I can’t even believe the level of garbage you suddenly “support” because you’re just trying to get the last word. Suddenly, Romney is “holy”? You’ll say anything, I guess.

Democrats are terribly desperate now. Every one of their coups have failed and the unconstitutional depths they will sink to in order to try and wrest power away from Trump has been exposed. They can’t even address how they can justify their own Senate members blatantly doing what Biden did and what they accuse Trump of doing.

@Nathan Blue:

Suddenly, Romney is “holy”? You’ll say anything, I guess.

In 2012, he launched multiple bigoted attacks against Romney’s religion. “Pink underwear” was a common theme. Then he accused him of income tax evasion and was challenged by ‘Common Sense’ to produce the evidence. Eight years later and he has still failed to produce it. He figures we are too stupid to remember that. No honor. No honesty. No integrity.

@another vet:

In 2012, he (Comrade Greggie) launched multiple bigoted attacks against Romney’s religion

He has also, on multiple occasions, slammed Christians en masse. Now, he demanding that they upheld their oath to G-d. He seems to have forgotten that those of us who believe in G-d were ridiculed by him. What a hypocrite.

He also seems to have forgotten that we are a representative republic and that Mitt Romney was elected to represent the will of the voters of Utah, not himself. Did Romney do any internal polling learning the will of his state’s voters? Doesn’t seem to me that Romney is interested in anyone but Romney.

Now, before Comrade Greggie starts railing on conservatives for voting for Romney, I was not, nor have I ever been a Romney fan. I think he is a self-centered globalist who, when he won the governorship, should have put a D behind his name because he furthered the goals of the Democrats in how he governed. He was a poor choice for president and I knew he would lose, which he did.

But you can take it to the bank that while the left, like Comrade Greggie, now sing Mitten’s praises, they will stab him in the back, AGAIN, like they did before as Mittens bites the hand that feeds him.

@Deplorable Me, #30:

Trump has become the evil voice constantly whispering in America’s ear. The first to embrace him were those most like him, who calculated they could use his skills as a conman to achieve greater personal enrichment and empowerment. The second were the simple-minded, always the most susceptible to any devil’s suggestions and lies, who quickly came to believe every word he utters, no matter how nonsensical or contrary to fact. He has gradually led them further down the garden path so they won’t notice how dark it’s getting. The third, and possibly the largest category, are traditional conservatives, who actually mean well but simply aren’t paying close enough attention. They’ve been sucked in by more-conventional-appearing right-wing media outlets, and generally don’t have the time or inclination to cross-check each item of information that they’re being fed. That things seem good at the moment is good enough.

Trump is mentally unhinged and now that he’s been given a pass will become increasingly emboldened and dangerous. That was abundantly clear during his Victory Celebration Speech earlier today. Clinton, as I recall, was chastened and contrite following his impeachment and acquittal and publicly apologized:

“I want to say again to the American people how profoundly sorry I am for what I said and did to trigger these events, and the great burden they have imposed on the Congress and on the American people.”

There will be no such apology on Trump’s part. He doesn’t think he did a damn thing wrong.

By the way, you’re no more qualified to judge and proclaim the sincerity of the religious beliefs held by others than the Gasbag in Chief.

@Greg: Paranoia is such a good look for the left, remember you are not paranoid if they really are out to get you, and we are.

@Greg:

By the way, you’re no more qualified to judge and proclaim the sincerity of the religious beliefs held by others than the Gasbag in Chief.

But yet, you support a Party that removed G-d from their platform and you sang the praises of a man (and still do) who ridiculed those who held on to “their G-d and their guns.”

Are we to now assume that you have become a supporter of those who adhere to their religious beliefs? Are you really going to up your level of hypocrisy that far?

@retire05: We are suppose to believe he listened to Trump today and didn’t come here with his cup of Morning Joe opinion.

@retire05: @retire05:

But you can take it to the bank that while the left, like Comrade Greggie, now sing Mitten’s praises, they will stab him in the back, AGAIN, like they did before as Mittens bites the hand that feeds him.

Just like they did with McCain. He was a racist, warmongering, mentally unstable individual to them until he went after Trump and then he was their hero, read useful dupe. If GWB ever publicly goes after Trump, he’ll be their new found hero too the guy, whom like Trump, they wanted out of office via arrest, impeachment, or assassination as well. Not exactly the type of people you can trust turning your back on. It’s no wonder they defended the likes of Bowe Bergdahl.

@Greg: Just be aware, I am tired of reading your posts about “evil” Trump. It has been the Democrats that have proven themselves evil; evil liars that put their greed for power before their constituents, the Constitution and the nation. They lied about collusion and they lied about impeachment, all while wasting millions in taxpayer money and putting the nation through utter hell. So, henceforth, unless you are making some salient point (or, on an off chance, actually answering a question) I won’t be reading your whiny, sore loser, crybaby, lying bullshit. Go back up and revisit #11 while you accuse others of lying and evil.

@retire05: Greg’s religion is deception and his deity is the almighty Lie.

@Deplorable Me:

I won’t be reading your whiny, sore loser, crybaby, lying bullshit.

There you go. Don’t give him the attention he craves and he’ll either go away or babble to himself. He has the emotional stability and mentality of an immature four year old. You’ll feel much better and have a better outlook on human nature if you don’t read what he writes.

@retire05, #37:

But yet, you support a Party that removed G-d from their platform and you sang the praises of a man (and still do) who ridiculed those who held on to “their G-d and their guns.”

It has removed sectarian bias from its platform, which is a distinction you fail to recognize.

Are we to now assume that you have become a supporter of those who adhere to their religious beliefs?

Democrats support an individual’s freedom to choose their religious beliefs or to reject such beliefs entirely, and to be free of having others impose their own religion or related restrictions upon them. We are a nation governed by secular laws and principles, some of which are intended to protect that freedom equally for everybody.

This is why you will see elected Catholic democrats supporting a woman’s fundamental right to choose whether or not to continue a pregnancy. They were elected to protect constitutional rights and laws, not somebody’s religious doctrine.

That doesn’t preclude respect for political opponents like Mitt Romney, who take their most deeply held religious beliefs very seriously in matters of their personal conduct. Anyone should respect the enormous personal courage that taking such a stand requires. Romney did a very hard thing because he believed it was the right thing. Many of his fellow republicans did the easy and personally practical thing, knowing that it was wrong. They compromised. He didn’t. He’s the better man.

@Greg:

He’s the better man.

Not really, but I’m also sure you didn’t vote for him in 2012…better man that he is.

the Republicans in the Senate flawlessly outlined why the impeachment was both invalid and completely unnecessary. Theirs was a story of facts and constitutional law. The Democrats story was complete fiction, and partisan rhetoric.

The best among us Senate won the day and rightfully acquitted Trump.

I really respect anybody for voting for what they decide is right, including Romney, but your asinine cheerleading of this man and defending his morality suddenly is completely disingenuous.

the presentation from Republican senators was so compelling and so correct it was overwhelmingly true.

@another vet: Greg’s responses are straight from propaganda HQ. For some reason the news agencies are hammering this Romney thing. He’s being paid to repeat these falsehoods… Hoping they stick with someone.

@Nathan Blue, #43:

Not really, but I’m also sure you didn’t vote for him in 2012…better man that he is.

You’re correct on that point. I also consider Obama to a man of high integrity. The deciding factor for me in 2012 was their respective positions on social issues. I would have voted for either of them rather than Trump. I would have voted for McCain rather than Trump—the nutter that the republicans saddled him with for the VP spot notwithstanding. Palin and Trump are both reality TV characters.

That so many Senators failed to take their Affirmation Oaths seriously reveals much. They could have voted to acquit, but they owed America a real trial rather than a mockery of what the Constitution requires.

Trump abused his power of office to prevent material witnesses who know the truth from testifying, and to lock down every material document under his control. The trial was rigged and the outcome predetermined. McConnell facilitated that betrayal. In the end, every republican Senator but Romney signed on. Every objective person who paid close attention knows this, even if they won’t admit it.

@Greg: President Trump’s Re-Election Odds Hit Record High Day After Acquittal, you know what that means lil one?
Do you know what that means?
The democrats got owned, beaten, trounced in their political impeachment hit job.
Not shaking Nancys hand was no accident she was pissed and sat behind the POTUS on live TV muttering to herself like a homeless baglady that lost her shoppingcart full of cats. Talk about optics!
We are still laughing at you and your pathetic math challenged party of socialist resistance.
You fools keep making re-election commercials by just being yourselves.
Romney is his own party, the party of Mitt.

President Trump’s Re-Election Odds Hit Record High Day After Acquittal, you know what that means lil one?

It means absolutely nothing with respect to the actual probability of his reelection, unless you think gamblers somehow have superior insight concerning economics, geopolitical events, and the mood of the American people.

@Greg: Gamblers never look at the horses they just pick them by the colors the jockeys wear if they are pretty.
Its the Dems that drew 3 on an inside straight and lost YUGE.They couldnt bluff their way out.
Pelosi tears up her party on live TV.
It really is hilarious. She was caught pre-ripping edges for her planned stunt. Knew she had lost when the Republicans were all chanting 4 more years another thing that added fuel to her simmering temper tantrum.
Romney is a weasel zipper that did not get SOS job, he so desired.

Tucker ran a montage of the liberal media tearing Romney to pieces for being a racist, misogynist, predatory capitalist, murderer, tax evader. Now they love him. All this confirms is that the media LIES, says anything they feel will promote the liberal agenda, even when they don’t even believe it. Now they worship him. At some point they are lying. Or both?

I see Greg still cuddles up with his blanket, teddy bear and color book instead of answering #11. AJ’s feminine side, “Laura”, has disappeared entirely rather than face up to their own hypocrisy and lies.

@Deplorable Me, #49:

Regarding #11… Former Prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko was appointed Prosecutor General of Ukraine despite the fact that he has no law degree. He was the guy who suspended the Ukrainian investigation of Paul Manafort’s money laundering. He ran a bogus investigation that helped Konstantin Kilimnik escape prosecution in Ukraine, and then allowed him to bug out to Mother Russia. Lutsenko was one of the Ukrainians who lobbied for the ouster of Marie Yovanovitch, our ambassador who was pressing Ukraine for a more serious anti-corruption campaign, and offered to provide dirt on the Bidens in return.

Did Breitbart tell you about all of that?
