It’s Iran and democrats vs. America

There once was a Marx Brothers movie called “Horse Feathers” and in it was contained a skit about today’s democrat party. The skit included a song. The lyrics went in part like this:

[WAGSTAFF]
I don’t know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway
Whatever it is, I’m against it
No matter what it is or who commenced it
I’m against it

Your proposition may be good
But let’s have one thing understood:
Whatever it is, I’m against it
And even when you’ve changed it or condensed it
I’m against it

I’m opposed to it
On general principles, I’m opposed to it

This pretty accurately describes today’s democrat party. It is said that if Trump were to cure cancer, democrats would cry for cancer. Again, accurate.

democrats don’t learn easily. Often they don’t learn at all. The truth is, they hate Trump more than they love their own country. They still don’t understand Trump and they certainly do not understand the Persian mind.

There is much caterwauling on the left about Trump’s decision to terminate Qasem Soleimani. As I have argued, it was long overdue. Nonetheless, democrats are echoing Iranian talking points in condemnation of the action. First, some background.

Soleimani was responsible for 600 dead American soldiers and Marines and cost the limbs of thousands more, but there’s more. He was the architect of Iranian policy which included the following.

You will recall that Iran seized two Navy gunboats which had strayed into Iranian waters. Fair enough, but then Iran, in violation of the Geneva Convention, Iran humiliated the detainees and used them for propaganda purposes.

Over the previous six months before that:

-Sealed a nuclear deal with the U.S.

-Kept four Americans in prisons and captivity inside Iran under harsh conditions

-Has maintained its role as the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world

-Repeatedly violated UN sanctions with a series of missile tests

-Taken captive 10 U.S. Navy sailors for allegedly drifting into their claimed waters

This year

Iran attacks oil tankers

Iran shoots down US drone

Iran attacked Saudi oilfields by proxy

Iran continues call for death to Israel

In response to the elimination of Soleimani Iran says it will abandon its commitment to the 2015 agreement.

Iran officials announced Sunday they will abandon the rogue nation’s commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers after the United States killed one of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani in an airstrike in Baghdad Friday.

Sunday’s announcement, which represented the clearest nuclear proliferation threat yet made by Iran since President Trump unilaterally withdrew from the accord, came after another Iranian official said it would consider taking even-harsher steps over the killing of Soleimani.

Knock me over with a feather. The Iranians are going to abandon an agreement they’ve been violating since its inception:
Iran is violating the deal
Iran Violates 2015 Nuclear Deal
Why Iran just violated part of the 2015 nuclear deal
Evidence that Iran Violated the Nuclear Deal Since Day One?
UN reports increasing violations of Iran nuclear deal
Iran Breaches the Nuclear Deal and UN Resolutions for Third Time

They never had any intention of abiding by the deal and only a fool could fail to see that.

House democrats have decided to side with Iran

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wrote a letter to her Democrat colleagues in the House on Sunday to reveal a new “War Powers Resolution” that amounts to a pre-emptive surrender to Iran in ongoing hostilities.

Pelosi’s letter begins with the declaration that President Donald Trump’s airstrike last week targeting Iranian General Qasem Suleimani, leader of the terrorist Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IGRC) Quds Force, responsible for the murders of hundreds of Americans and for recent attacks on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, was “provocative and disproportionate,” terms suggesting the attack was illegal under international law and could constitute a war crime.

Harvard Law School professor emeritus (and Democrat) Alan Dershowitz argued in Monday’s Wall Street Journal that the strike was not only lawful, but an “easy call”: “The president has the constitutional authority to take military actions, short of declaring war, that he and his advisers deem necessary to protect American citizens. This authority is extremely broad, especially when the actions must, by their nature, be kept secret from the intended target.”

They really don’t seem to like the United States. Now pay attention here. Breitbart:

Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force whom the U.S. assassinated in an airstrike, once threated to destroy all of President Donald Trump’s belongings.

“You know that this war will destroy all that you possess. You will start this war but we will be the ones to impose its end. Therefore you have to be careful about insulting the Iranian people and the president of our Republic,” Soleimani uttered in a July 2018 speech, reported at the time by Al Alam.

“You know our power in the region and our capabilities in asymmetric war. We will act and we will work,”  he reportedly added.

Why would he say “You will start this war”? To understand this one needs to comprehend the minds of Middle Eastern leaders. To understand that, one needs to understand that it is the same reason that no American President has been able to establish a lasting peace accord in the Middle East.

They don’t want solutions. They want the issues.

Soleimani said said “You will start this war” knowing that he would continue his proxy wars and incessantly goad the US into a conflict at which time he would claim victim status. Arafat did the same thing over and over and over. Palestinians do it to this day. They launch rocket after rocket into Israel and scream “victim!” when Israel responds while the UN acts oblivious.

It is the regional motus operandi, but this time Trump called his bluff. You would think that the Iranian leadership would be pleased with Soleimani finally getting access to those 72 virgins. Maybe he could catch up with Jeffrey Epstein.

Chuck Schumer said that Trump was “bumbling” the US into a major war.

He doesn’t understand Trump. Not at all. Trump is very much anti-war. He had his doubts about the Iraq war at the beginning and turned against it after a time.  He has stated that he wants US troops out of Afghanistan by the end of 2020. Trump does not want a war but he has made clear that the US will no longer tolerate a proxy war either. He may need to play whack-a-mullah for a while.

Here was Trump’s permission slip for the current action:

The United States on Monday designated Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps a foreign terrorist organization, an unprecedented declaration against a foreign government that may prompt retaliation and make it harder for American diplomats and military officers to work with allies in the region.

It is the first time that the U.S. has designated an entity of another government as a terrorist organization, placing a group with vast economic resources that answers only to Iran’s supreme leader in the same category as al-Qaida and the Islamic State.

“This unprecedented step, led by the Department of State, recognizes the reality that Iran is not only a state sponsor of terrorism, but that the IRGC actively participates in, finances and promotes terrorism as a tool of statecraft,” President Donald Trump said in announcing the measure.

One Iranian legislator has suggested that the people of Iran contribute to putting a bounty of $80 million on Trump’s head. Or they could use more of that billion dollars in cash Obama sent them to help defray the high cost of financing Iranian terrorism.

More Propaganda 101 Rule # 2, Dr John helping the propaganda machine go to the ends of the earth to protect an ISIS freeing madman start another expensive bloodbath war in order to enhance his own reelection campaign while creating a smokescreen to distract from him illegally bribing a foreign government to help him enhance his own reelection campaign.

Can I get a “but Obama” please?

@Ronald J. Ward:

john kerry is a drunk similar to bar fly polosi and a piece of human excrement. he is still attempting to broker private deals with iran. soleimani was a butcher and rapist. I suggest you read Raymond Ibrahim’s work title Sword and Scimitar. if read, it gives one a very good view of the current jihad movement.

@Ronald Ward
Can you supply any evidence of bribery other than hearsay? Schiff didn’t, nor would he allow anyone testify who would contradict his position, nor do the Articles. He even denied members of the HJC from yielding their time for another person to speak. What is he so afraid of? About four weeks ago Pelosi said Impeachment must be done quickly lest irreparable damage be done to the US. Yet, she continues to sit on the Articles and refuses to forward them to the Senate. What is she so afraid of? Both know full well that the HJC hearings were a farce and that crap ends in the Senate where Trump will be afforded the opportunity to confront his accusers…something Schiff would not allow. I don’t care which clown you liberals offer up the year, but be prepared for an ass-whoopin’ because the American public is fed up with the BS you people are slinging around.

And this is who the demokrats and their allies have sided with. They must be elated at the bounty. They’re probably hoping it’ll do what they couldn’t do with their Stalinist impeachment sham- get rid of PT. Their buddy George Lopez said he’d do it for half the price. The SS needs to pay him a visit and if they don’t arrest him (dems never seem to get arrested) tell him that if he gets anywhere near POTUS orders will be given to shoot his ass on sight.

Hahaha…straight from the ass/mouth of the propaganda machine, itself.

“You know that this war will destroy all that you possess. You will start this war but we will be the ones to impose its end. Therefore you have to be careful about insulting the Iranian people and the president of our Republic,” Soleimani uttered in a July 2018 speech, reported at the time by Al Alam.

You do know that this was a threat to kill Trump, kill his family and destroy all this possessions, right? So, Soleimani threatened Trump first and Trump was fully justified and obligated to preemptively take the murdering terrorist out. Now, Democrats, who in the fantasies find themselves completely aligned with venomous terrorists, probably don’t care, but people who care about the country think otherwise.

@Jerry Galagher: Sorry, but AJ/Ward doesn’t speak “truth”. It’s like a foreign language to him.

The United States this last April designated Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps a foreign terrorist organization.
It’s leader is the head of that snake.
Now he’s dead.
According to the legal designation as head of a terrorist org, he was a legitimate target.
IF a replacement proves to continue his work, which is in doubt, he, too, becomes a legitimate target.
If the quds forces prove to be defanged by this one death, that’s a good thing.
Only time will tell.
So far a library was hacked.
And then there’s been a lot of bluster (and playing the victim.)

February 13, 2020 — Senate passes Iran War Powers resolution despite Trump’s opposition

The Senate passed an Iran War Powers resolution on Thursday, a rare measure that was approved with bipartisan support despite the fact that it has been opposed by President Donald Trump and aims to rein in his ability to use military action against Iran without congressional approval.

The vote was 55-45. Eight Republicans voted in favor of it: Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, Todd Young of Indiana, Mike Lee of Utah, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana and Jerry Moran of Kansas.

The President warned the Senate not to green-light the measure on Wednesday, tweeting that “it is very important for our country’s security that the United States Senate not vote for the Iran War Powers Resolution,” and adding, “If my hands were tied, Iran would have a field day.”

The White House has also issued a veto threat against it.

Despite that, the resolution, chiefly authored by Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, won bipartisan support. Several Republican senators, including Lee, Paul and Collins, signed on as co-sponsors.

Earlier on Thursday, potential problems threatened to derail the resolution ahead of an the final vote, with Senate Democrats warning that an amendment filed late Wednesday by GOP Sen. Tom Cotton — that Democrats described as a poison pill — could draw enough support to pass and possibly make it difficult for the underlying bipartisan War Powers Resolution to maintain majority support.

Ultimately, however, the Senate defeated the controversial amendment, clearing the way for final passage. The Senate voted to table — or kill — the amendment.
The resolution “directs the President to terminate the use of United States Armed Forces for hostilities against the Islamic Republic of Iran or any part of its government or military, unless explicitly authorized by a declaration of war or specific authorization for use of military force against Iran.”

It includes a provision stating that no part of the resolution “shall be construed to prevent the United States from defending itself from imminent attack.”

Despite some Republican support in the Senate, however, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has strongly opposed the measure, which is unlikely to win enough votes for a veto-proof majority.

Trump won’t take kindly to any effort to rein in his rapidly expanding powers or to safeguard against his impulsiveness. A tip of the hat to Senate republicans who crossed the line to do the right thing in spite of that.

@Greg: All Trump has to do is go ahead and launch an attack without authorization, like Obama did in Libya. No big deal, right?
