Qasem Soleimani dead and it’s way overdue

Qasem Soleimani with Zolfaghar Order.jpg

I was readying a piece about Qasem Soleimani when I got the news:

President Trump ordered a game-changing U.S. military attack that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force, among other military officials at Baghdad International Airport early Friday, the Pentagon confirmed.

Soleimani is the military mastermind whom Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had deemed equally as dangerous as Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. In October, Baghdadi killed himself during a U.S. raid on a compound in northwest Syria, seven months after the so-called ISIS “caliphate” crumbled as the terrorist group lost its final swath of Syrian territory in March.

Justice has been served. Iran is outraged:

Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif tweeted after the attack “The US’ act of international terrorism, targeting & assassinating General Soleimani—THE most effective force fighting Daesh (ISIS), Al Nusrah, Al Qaeda et al—is extremely dangerous & a foolish escalation.”

I couldn’t give a damn.

The UN is outraged

The U.N. special rapporteur on extrajudicial killing on Friday said the President Trump-approved drone strike against Qassem Soleimani, Iran’s top general, violated international human rights law.

In a lengthy Twitter thread, Agnès Callamard said that “outside the context of active hostilities, the use of drones or other means for targeted killing is almost never likely to be legal,” adding that the U.S. would need to prove the person targeted constituted an imminent threat to others.

She also took issue with the justification for using drones in another country on the basis of self-defense.

I couldn’t give a damn. barack obama killed four Americans – including a 16 year old- and the world shrugged it off. He too is probably outraged, as he loses someone he admired.

I couldn’t give a damn.

democrats are outraged that this evil monster is dead:

Several Democrats vying for the White House in 2020 condemned Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani before taking aim at President Trump for ordering the deadly airstrike that will escalate tensions in the region and was done so without Congress’ approval.

Former Vice President Joe Biden claimed that by ordering the airstrike Trump “just tossed a stick of dynamite into a tinderbox.”

In a lengthy statement, Biden said Trump “owes the American people an explanation of the strategy and plan to keep our troops and embassy personnel, our people and our interests, both here at home and abroad, and our partners throughout the region and beyond.

I couldn’t care less. They’re idiots.

There’s a reason I have looking forward to this day for a long, long time. This action is on a level with the elimination of Osama Bin Laden. Soleimani was responsible for the deaths and maiming of thousands of Americans:

The Pentagon confirmed Thursday evening that Trump had ordered the attack that killed Soleimani and other military officials at Baghdad International Airport in Iraq. Iran’s top “shadow commander” was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American and coalition service members and the wounding of thousands more, the State Department said.

I cannot begin to express how pleased I am at this and here’s why.

“Soleimani is the guy that sent the copper-tipped IEDs into Iraq,” said Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain, referring to powerful improvised explosive devices, which Marine Corps Commandant General Joseph Dunford testified last week were responsible for the deaths of 500 soldiers and Marines.

Soleimani supplied IED’s to Iraq and Afghanistan which resulted thousands of dead and wounded American soldiers.

As part of his Iran deal, obama gave Soleimani sanctions relief.

That Soleimani—who runs Iran’s elite paramilitary and covert operations group, the Quds Force—was even on the list appeared to catch some U.S. officials by surprise. A senior administration official briefing reporters on Tuesday morning didn’t have a ready response when asked when and why Soleimani was added. Secretary of State John Kerry reportedly denied that the 58-year-old general was on the list to be freed from the sanctions yoke. Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, agreed, saying Soleimani—whom the U.S. accused in 2011 of plotting to launch a terrorist attack in the United States—had been confused with someone else with a similar name.

They were all wrong—or maybe didn’t want to be right. Soleimani is, in fact, on the list, a Treasury Department official later confirmed to The Daily Beast. And his presence definitely surprised some powerful lawmakers, who are already sharpening their knives for a filleting of the Iran deal.

Obama likely financed the attack on the US Embassy in Iraq.

Pompeo got it right

“We didn’t send pallets of cash to the Iranians. We didn’t pay for hostages. We didn’t create a deal which would have given them a clear pathway to a nuclear weapon. We have taken a very different approach. We believe it’s the one that will ultimately lead to success and stability in the Middle East,”

Iran is, of course, shaking its fist at the US.

We should not give a damn. Iran is learning that the US will no longer bend over and take it up the wazoo as it did under obama.

@Deplorable Me: ‘Monitoring The Situation’ — Pelosi Blows off VP, Misses Announcement of Missile Attack, Attends Restaurant Opening.
Does Pence blow up her phone so much she cant answer for the Vice President?
Pence must have drawn the short straw.

Satellite Photos Reveal Extent Of Damage From Iranian Strike On Air Base In Iraq

Precision targeting. Several of the Iranian missiles nailed aircraft hangers. Apparently they weren’t aiming at barracks. A few missiles were knocked down, but most got past our anti-missile defenses in spite of the fact that we knew they were coming.

There’s a lesson here. It could have been much harsher.

@kitt: And she bitches about not being notified. No doubt she was too drunk to take a message.

@Greg: Iran CHOSE to not hit anything. They knew if they did, the response would be swift and merciless. Trump played them beautifully.

And NO Patriots were deployed; there was no need. It was all for show.

@Deplorable Me: Even NPR didnt report there were defense systems penetrated Greg makes shit up. NPR even misquoted what Trump said. How anyone can believe the nonsense they air.

@kitt: That’s what the IRGC told him to believe. Anyone other than those loyal to this country can make Greg and others believe anything that is critical of this nation.

I have a nephew stationed in Egypt right now. I can imagine what his wife and parents were thinking during the attacks, even though he was not in the line of fire. Imagine what people with loved ones stationed in Iraq thought when these idiots reported Iranian propaganda that they had killed US military. But, the media salivated over the possibilities of US deaths and being able to blame them all on Trump. This is what people like Greg play a part in.

@Deplorable Me, #205:

Trump’s actions have increased the threat to all of those people enormously. They’re all at greater risk because of what he has done and said.

Not once have you addressed the fact that war with Iran could cost thousands of American lives and trillions of dollars, while gaining us absolutely nothing in the long run. You’re too caught up in the words of the bombastic fool in the White House.

@Greg

Trump’s actions have increased the threat to all of those people enormously. They’re all at greater risk because of what he has done and said.

How exactly?
The greenzone around our Embassy was basically taken over by Iran backed militia personnel, not one thing was done to stop the protestors.
The PM of Iraq backed by the Iranian regime most likely hand picked by Achmed himself. I guess he wont get to choose the next PM of Iraq.
Wonder if there is any new affordable housing there…https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3785281/posts
Biden needs to be brought up on Rico charges.
You tell me how it was safer before with Iranian backed militias running loose everywhere.

This, today, from Republican Senator Mike Lee from Utah, and Rand Paul of Kentucky, following the administration’s briefing explaining why Soleimani was targeted and killed:

‘Worst briefing I’ve seen’: GOP senators slam Iran meeting (With video clip of his comments.)

“I had hoped and expected to receive more information outlining the legal, factual, and moral justification for the attack,” Lee said. “The briefing lasted only 75 minutes, whereupon our briefers left. This, however, is not the biggest problem I have with the briefing, which I would add was probably the worst briefing I’ve seen, at least on a military issue, in the nine years I’ve served in the United States Senate.”

“What I found so distressing about that briefing was that one of the messages that we received from the briefers was: Do not debate, do not discuss the issue of appropriateness of further military intervention against Iran,” Lee added. “And that if you do, you’ll be emboldening Iran.”

He has further stated that he will support a Senate war powers resolution to rein in further military actions by the Trump administration against Iran without consultations with Congress.

@Greg:

My loyalty is to my country,

Which country would that be, Comrade Greggie?

@Greg: I respect Sen Lee, it was most likely a very crappy briefing, Im sure the briefings on Benghazi and Libya were much better.
I like Rand Pauls voting record but knowing his historical stance on things like this I am not surprised. He could have a chat with someone in the security counsel and get the skinny on Achmed. There are certain members of congress I dont think could be trusted with some information, they get upset just talking about sanctions. But not about American deaths and injuries.
https://twitter.com/RNCResearch/status/1215009273580834817/video/1
How exactly are we less safe?

@Greg: greggie, Here is something that will help you from wetting your pants every time you suffer from Trump syndrome. https://www.depend.com/en-ca/incontinence-products/men
Kimberly-Clark does a good job I believe. How can 69,000,000 liberals be wrong?

Just saw this:
A young boy was telling his mother that when he grew up to be a man, he wanted to be a Democrat.

Mother responded: You need to choose son, you can not be both!

@Greg:

Not once have you addressed the fact that war with Iran could cost thousands of American lives and trillions of dollars, while gaining us absolutely nothing in the long run.

Notice I haven’t addressed the cost of a war with Russia, either. Or with China. Or N. Korea. Or Great Britain. Fact is, I am not caught up in the left wing fear mongering trying to draw attention away from their own failures by predicting recessions or wars.

So, right now, we have calm. Iran launched a flaccid retaliatory attack, giving Iraq and the US forewarning, and hurting no one. Trump has taken this as an indication that Iran wants to reduce tensions, so he held back his massive retaliatory response. Now, Iran is threatening more responses.

In the event of further Iranian attacks, what should Trump do? Tell us, O Brilliant One. If Iran breaks the informal cease fire we currently have, what would be a wise response?

I would put the matter before Congress, just as Democrats want, and put them all on record as to what they want as a response. THEN we’ll see who supports this nation and who doesn’t.

@Deplorable Me: Greg doesnt have the nads to tell us how the DNC wants it handled just screech how Trump did it wrong. Mullah Poobah is still running his mouth with threats.

@kitt: No Democrat does. They just want to cower and blame the other guy.

@Deplorable Me: Chairman of Joint Chiefs and Sec of Defense do not concur with military expert “ol bone spurs” on Iraq intent to PURPOSELY MISS.

@Rich Wheeler: Yes, they do.

@Deplorable Me:Good to see you agree with me .Bout time.

@Deplorable Me:

The Manchurian Candidate has returned.

@Rich Wheeler: Say again MC I much better than 2—number of great movies currently showing.
Just saw ACTUAL gold star parent blast Nikki’s ridiculous assertion.

@Rich Wheeler: Pity your powers of perception have deteriorated even from the dismal condition it was before.

So, where do you weigh in? Are you like the rest of the Democrats and upset that a brutal terrorist responsible for hundreds of US military deaths and thousands of disabling injuries or do you take the side of America against terrorism and terrorists?

@retire05: Apparently, the emails of what should be thought and said had been withheld for a time.

At 1:59 am 7 Jan–direct quote from Gen Mark Miley “I believe based on what I saw and what I know is that they were intended to cause structural damage, destroy vehicles and equipment and aircraft and to kill personnel.” Sec Def Esper concurred.
I’m glad terrorist taken off battlefield as are 99% percent of Americans Repubs or Dems.

I’d advise expanding your news coverage beyond Eox News.

@Deplorable Me:

Here is the problem; we will be cleaning up the disaster that was the Obama administration re: Iran for years. The media absolutely refused to report on the leeway that Obama gave to Iran to push through the JPCOA. To think that Iran did not use those pallets of cash to purchase missiles is pure idiocy. Do the Democrats think that Iran used that money to build medical clinics and create soup lines for its poor? What dumbasses the left is.

Here is one story the lame stream media absolutely refused to report on:
https://www.politico.com/interactives/2017/obama-hezbollah-drug-trafficking-investigation/

When Trump ordered the take down of Soleimani, the left screamed “WAR!!!!“. But Trump has not, and will not ask for a declaration of war against Iran, at least not now. But to hear the Democrats you would think he has as the left wing media compare Soleimani to other revered peace keepers of the past. TDS has so infected their brains that even a terrorist who has killed and maimed thousands of American servicemen is touted a “revered” Iranian soldier.

Here is what no one is talking about; Iran lobbed missiles into Iran trying to strike IRAQI military bases that housed American troop. Iran has committed an act of war against Iraq. Soleimani had so imbedded his QUDS buddies into Iraqi government (especially the social services departments) that it is now unclear if Iraq is even in charge of its own government.

We need to pull our troops out of the Middle East and let them kill each other, knowing if they go after any American interest we will turn that region into glass with not one boot on the ground. The Shi’ites and Sunnis are never going to get along. And if the Persians want their country back, it is up to them to do it.

@Rich Wheeler:

“I believe based on what I saw and what I know is that they were intended to cause structural damage, destroy vehicles and equipment and aircraft and to kill personnel.” Sec Def Esper concurred.

Kill personel? From what I saw they hit 2 hangers, the latrine and 2 other buildings, really expensive helicopters parked in nice rows were untouched. There are bomb shelters on those bases, they are not inside hangers. https://www.npr.org/2020/01/08/794517031/satellite-photos-reveal-extent-of-damage-at-al-assad-air-base
NPR couldnt even get Trumps quote correct.
So you think Trump made the right call with Achmed and the Quds commander, good man.

@kitt: What really happened is that after Trump failed to follow the Obama protocol dealing with world wide terrorists by targeting Soleimani, the Iranians were scared sh**less. The government employees as well as the Iranian military needed to save face so fired missiles towards US facilities with a great deal of effort to causing any fatalities and minimal facility/equipment loss. The government needed to save face, so contacted the Iraqi government that they were going to fire 16 harmless missiles and requested that the Iraqis contact the US to ask Trump to not return fire. The Iranian military were so concerned about US retaliation that when they saw an aircraft, they fired their anti-aircraft missiles and downed the Ukrainian aircraft. So, the US liberals go out of their minds and blame Trump for the Iranian actions. Trump defined his red line and it was acknowledged by the Iranians that they were no longer dealing with Obama. There was no initiation of war! Crack pot lefties are ignorant. This was just one government notifying another government about their foreign policy. Iran well knows that Trump can severely cripple Iran within a few hours if he had wanted to. What really happened is finally an understanding between the US and Iran that has potential for negotiations. The real war will be between the Iranian people and the Iranian government. The US left is just too ignorant to understand what is happening in the world or they actually have moved so far left that they have joined the enemies of the United States.

@Rich Wheeler: Uh, no… Democrats are NOT happy terrorists are taken off the battlefield. YOU need to pay a little attention to what your sources tell you. They fully sympathize with the dead terrorists because TRUMP killed them. If they oppose Trump, they are their allies. Never mind that they chant “Death to America”, your liberals take the side of the terrorists. 100% of AMERICANS cheer the death of Soleimani; difficult to find the Democrats that support it.

How do you intend to kill personnel when you give them forewarning to get out of the way? It was nothing but their version of your “screaming at the sky”. They know EXACTLY what would have happened if they caused ONE casualty.

@retire05:

Soleimani had so imbedded his QUDS buddies into Iraqi government (especially the social services departments) that it is now unclear if Iraq is even in charge of its own government.

Not much different from the infiltration of the Democrat party. Iran just fired 16 missiles to, as Rich believes, kill Americans, yet Pelosi pushes legislation to make any retaliation up to HER, not the Constitutionally authorized President of the United States/Commander in Chief of United States Armed Forces.

@Randy: Yeah, the established Obama protocol would have been to apologize and thank them for not killing anyone. Then, beg permission to kiss their asses.

@Randy: From a meme genius
Trump and Lil Kim at the DMZ…
Trump: Whats the matter sweetheart?

Kim: What Iran got that I no got?

Trump: Ohh, do you want me to kill your generals?

Kim: No I already did

Another
Kim on phone to Iran:
No No it no work…You send Trump vase right away.

To explain the jest https://www.onenewspage.com.au/video/20200101/12593293/Trump-Hope-Kim-Jong-Un-Christmas.htm

@kitt: Someone needs to send Pelosi a Christmas gift!

@Randy: I would send her a flaming bag of poo for her doorstep but some one would just put it on SnapCrap app .

@Randy:

Remember this ?

WASHINGTON — The White House, pushing hard against criticism in Congress over the deepening air war in Libya, asserted Wednesday that President Obama had the authority to continue the military campaign without Congressional approval because American involvement fell short of full-blown hostilities.
In a 38-page report sent to lawmakers describing and defending the NATO-led operation, the White House said the mission was prying loose Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s grip on power.
In contending that the limited American role did not oblige the administration to ask for authorization under the War Powers Resolution, the report asserted that “U.S. operations do not involve sustained fighting or active exchanges of fire with hostile forces, nor do they involve U.S. ground troops.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/16/us/politics/16powers.html

The NYSlimes went on to report that Jack L. Goldsmith, who led the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel during the Bush administration, said
“The administration’s theory implies that the president can wage war with drones and all manner of offshore missiles without having to bother with the War Powers Resolution’s time limits,”

Of course, the Democrats at the time were fine with Obama’s rationale all the while Obama was bombing the shit out of Libya and killing American citizens with drones.

Where did Obama have any success in the Middle East? Iran? Nope. Afghanistan? Nope. Iraq? Nope. Libya? Nope. Egypt? Nope. Hell, even the traitorous John Kerry admitted that the pallets of money sent to Iran would probably be used for weaponry and against us.

@Rich Wheeler:

I’m glad terrorist taken off battlefield as are 99% percent of Americans Repubs or Dems.

What do you have to back your statement up? One of the latest polls out there shows that your assertion of the “facts” is not only wrong, but grossly wrong. 47% isn’t even half of 99%. Notice the HUGE difference between R’s and D’s on approval of the strike- 85% to 30%.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/poll-47-percent-approve-of-trump-strike-on-soleimani/ar-BBYJVL4

I’d advise expanding your news coverage beyond Eox News.

I’d advise getting your facts straight before making 100% erroneous claims and then insulting people you disagree with, especially when they are right and you are wrong. Hopefully you wash your feet before sticking them in your mouth.

@another vet: #222 I was correct on statement by Joint Chiefs Chairman agreed with by Sec Defense—CRICKETTS HERE.

Tammy Duckworth “left part of my body in Iraq.”

At least Collins apologized for his disgusting comment.

You can see why I’m not here much—useless debate right wing extremists who like yourself and Trump get off on insulting people

Semper FI—-HUSKIES ARE GREAT

@Rich Wheeler: No one is insulted here if they take the time to understand the situations and adequately review wide sources of information. When someone posts here and just spews ideological comments without adequate sourcing, they may be insulted. When someone claims to have been an officer or veteran and fails to live up to their vows, I have no time for them!

@Rich Wheeler:

You can see why I’m not here much—useless debate right wing extremists who like yourself and Trump get off on insulting people

You hurled the first insult with your Fox News comment. If you can dish it out but can’t take it, you shouldn’t hurl it. The sign of a bully. You should actually be trying to straighten out your own Party which has been hijacked by a bunch of left wing extremists. If putting this country first and supporting the taking out of someone who killed and wounded hundreds of my fellow OIFers qualifies me as a right wing extremist, then so be it. I’ll take it as a compliment.

@another vet: I have not heard from greggie since I told him that Kimberly-Clark had a product that could prevent him from wetting his pants when Trump actually acted presidential instead of acting Obama-like.

@Randy: K.I.S.S.—My #222 confirms my #216—no retraction from Dep–on his #217/#221 false assertions. Totally agree wide sources of information should be accessed—don’t feel majority of Fa’ers are doing this–often simply spouting Trump/ Fox commentary.

AV My mention of Fox addiction comparable to the insults thrown at me by fellow Vets?? Think not.

Say again—At least Rep Collins has the decency/balls to apologize for his comments–Trump—never happen

@Rich Wheeler: Your quote was correct but was his assessment correct? Disagreements are not Hate nor insults, dont let the snowflakes sway your opinion at your age man. You found no humor in the latrine comment…cummon…buck up.

@kitt: Bottom line–again—Chairman and Sec Def did not agree with Trump–Deplorable said they did. Glad YOU understand that. Nuf said.

@Randy: @another vet:

You hurled the first insult with your Fox News comment.

It’s what Wheeler does best but then, when he gets push back, he complains about “insults.”

Wheeler’s hatred for Trump is so bad that if Trump had been President during Viet Nam, Wheeler would have fought for the NVC. LOLGF

@Rich Wheeler: Your entire party and all your candidates side with Iran against this nation… simply because Hillary lost. You still side with THEM? You supported Obama waging illegal war in Libya and Syria, yet you side with people who think they, not the Commander in Chief, should direct our military; how can you possibly square that?

Wow. Just, wow. I can’t imagine how a former military person can take sides against this nation. In fact, I can’t picture ANY loyal American taking sides against this country as your Democrats have. You actually think one of those candidates, who mourn the death of Soleimani, apologize to the Ayatollah, blame our President for Iranians shooting down a commercial airliner and beg forgiveness from the Iranian people should command our forces?

What am I saying… of course you do.

@Deplorable Me: @Deplorable Me: You must believe it. Rich has been off the reservation for a long time.

@Deplorable Me: Probably your biggest bunch of horseshit to date—and that’s hard to do .At least Rep Collins apologized for a similar screed
Any chance admitting you were wrong in your 217/221 false assertions? LOL

What’s certain is ol bone spurs shouldn’t command ANY servicemen—he’s an insult to all.

@Rich Wheeler: You just can not understand what Deplorable wrote and most of what is posted here because of your ideology.

@Randy:

Odd isn’t it, that Wheeler would support the very political party that left our warriors with their asses hanging out to dry in Nam?

Do you think he has dementia and has forgotten how the Democrats assured we would lose the war in Viet Nam while never having lost a battle?

@retire05: Maybe it was the weed or LSD. Maybe old age.

@Randy:

Or all three.

He loves to say what a insult Trump is but never admits that he is an insult to the very uniform he once wore. Pure Cambodian Candidate, he is.

@Rich Wheeler: So you can’t bring yourself to take the side of America or the American people. Point taken.

@Randy: Dep wrote Gen Miley and Sec of Defense Esper agreed with Trump re intent of missiles fired—-he was wrong.
Are you too bone headed to understand that Col?
Today Pompeo agreed with Miley and disagreed with DT–You miss the news conference?
He also missed where I agreed with taking out the scumbag terrorist—Kitt didn’t miss my comment.
Is he blind or simply lying? How bout you.?You, who claims to be informed–laughable sir

@Rich wheeler: I didn’t see any denunciation of the overall Democrat defense of Soleimani and the Iranians. In fact, they denounced the killing of Baghdadi. Plus, the disgusting blaming of Trump for Iranians shooting down a commercial aircraft. No, you have a long way to go to square your support for anti-American Democrats and some measure of support for this country and our military.

@Deplorable Me: You still refuse to admit you were wrong in saying Gen. Miley and Sec Esper agreed with DT—Did you see Pompeo agree wiith Miley today? Is Kitt that much more observant than you?
Why even bother with you Dep?

You really believe more than an extremely small percentage of Americans denounced the killing of Bagdadi or blamed Trump for the downing of the plane. Name a single Dem candidate for Prez who did so—you can’t.
