Your Mental Disorder Does not Make my Fashion Statement a Hate Crime

Loading

You all remember The Covington Crucifixion, and one of the insane takeaways was that wearing a MAGA hat made you a Nazi. And no, this isn’t just coming from Hollywood jet fuel geniuses like Alyssa Milano, but from NBC News itself. Yes, really, I’m not making this up:

These are just two examples – I could go all day and the good folks in the comments could spend weeks providing examples that go along the lines of “Your support for a President who I personally hate prevents me from thinking like a rational human being.” But let’s distill two basic messages from both sides. What does MAGA actually stand for? I mean, literally. It says “Make America great again.” Seriously, what is wrong with wanting your country to be great? Were we all supposed to be happy with low economic growth, high real unemployment, foreign policy that made Dubya look like Bismark, scandal after scandal, etc? I know that this slogan generated hysterical cries of “Trump is obsessed with undoing the legacy of his predecessor!’ from the people who giggled and cheered through their blind devotion to a president who was obsessed with undoing the legacy of his 43 predecessors. Which brings us to President Trump’s predecessor.

“Hope and Change” was a cute and vacuous statement that perfectly matched the man who said it. But when combined with his “We are just days away from fundamentally transforming this country!” comment, Obama’s rhetoric takes a more sinister tone. We Conservatives know that our country isn’t perfect, but we don’t feel it needs to be destroyed, either. If that sounds like an exaggeration I like to use the example of a wedding rehearsal dinner toast:

You have a buddy who’s about to get married to this girl who seems really cool, but you really don’t know much about her. Her past is a bit murky, and she seems to have a talent for making people feel good about themselves by telling them what they want to hear. At the rehearsal dinner, she throws her arm around her soon to be husband, raises her drink and triumphantly proclaims, “I am just 24 hours away from fundamentally transforming this man!” Now I don’t think like a Leftist, but does this sound like a phrase you would say about someone who you loved? Someone you respected? If I genuinely cared about this guy I would probably dive across the table, tackle her to the ground and shout to my buddy, “Forget about me, save yourself! RUN, YOU FOOL!!!

That said, where were the almost daily stories about Conservatives assaulting people repping the gear of the man who literally promised to destroy the country that we love? I wrote about this seven years ago in my “Falling Out of Love with Obama Explained in One Picture”:

Living in DC, I remember the feeling around town. Among conservatives there was a very guarded hope that electing a man with little experience and radicals in his past might somehow work. But among the left? There was a certain electricity in the air. People seemed happier, milling about, some proudly wearing their creepy baubles to proclaim their cult membership (Obama buttons, t-shirts, hats, handbags, etc). Then the messiah they had elected actually had to do something he had never been asked to do before – do his job; lead and take responsibility. And the results have been predictable. Again, how did so many fall for this act?

Read the whole thing. That was one of those fun to write posts that I’ll warn you in advance has some NSFW language in it, but I think you’ll agree that the profanity was useful in making my point. It will be part of another post I need to write regarding why Leftists were so angry during Obama’s presidency, but that’s for another day. One last piece I’ll leave you with comes from one of The Other McCain’s several reports from CPAC:

When it was exposed that Smollett had actually paid two black men to stage the attack, however, the media didn’t admit its role in this shabby fraud, instead claiming that somehow it was Trump’s fault they had been so easily deceived. On MSNBC, the Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart said the Smollett hoax proved that Trump “actually stokes the atmosphere of menace and insecurity that millions of Americans feel across this country.” This is how much the media despise the 62.9 million people who voted for Trump — even when they’re innocent, they’re still somehow guilty.

“Trump Derangement Syndrome” has been seriously discussed by Psychology Today, and what Capehart calls the “atmosphere of menace and insecurity” exists mainly in the distorted imagination of the president’s enemies. The climate of fear generated by the media’s anti-Trump obsession will require extra security at CPAC this week, because nobody knows what might be in the minds of deluded leftists.

At the end of the day when we break this down to its most basic pieces, Conservatives had no trouble coexisting with people who hate this country, while Leftists are incapable of tolerating those who truly love it. Sorry, but your mental disorder does not give you authority over me.

Liberal ideas are so decrepit that they have determined allowing any other idea to exist is a threat to THEIR ideas. Liberalism has ceased to be able to compete in the field of benefits to society. Nothing could be more obvious.

@Deplorable Me: They hate symbols, statues, flags, even institutions that dont fit their idea of fun-dumb-mental change. Cater to them or else.

@Brother Bob: Its police state, soon to come social scores.
Congress could better use their time finding the billions missing from our ABC departments. 600 billion missing from the State dept alone. Come up with effective book keeping. Cut funding amounts til the books balance.

@Brother Bob:

Funny how much our Democrats behave like The Taliban…

And the NAZI’s, Communists, and Fascists.

“We are just days away from fundamentally transforming this country!” comment, Obama’s rhetoric takes a more sinister tone. We Conservatives know that our country isn’t perfect, but we don’t feel it needs to be destroyed, either.

But someone who would like to “cut the country down to size” because they don’t like it, would definitely do that and his sheep stayed by his side the whole time.

@Brother Bob: Give me a break BB—The only other Conservatives on here who “accept differing views” folks like Word and Aqua–are gone—what’s left are reactionary screamers that post almost 24/7 the same boring tripe—Ras has DT at 47% approval RCP AVE stays around 44%–good enough for him—He’s a divider preaching to his minority choir.

@Richard Wheeler: You are almost amusing.

Do you have all the poll pages book marked?
History is happening and do you know what I dont see in history books Ras and RPC.
You can study you numbers ignore that every poll can be bought or skewed by the way they ask the questions. Spout them like they are all important, cause you think they make you sound informed.
Yet you know very little of the palace intrigue, the coup that is happening. They know Mueller found nothing there never was any huge Russian influence. Now with the committees 6 of them. 6 congressional Committees determined to find what the IC communites and Mueller failed to find in over 3 years.
Dont forget that investigation has left the top people in the FBI fired and/or running for a publisher, they may end up in prison.
Do you know what the division in the country really is?
not really the answer but…

she looks an awful lot like AOC lol

We all accept your RIGHT to have those views but that doesn’t mean we HAVE to “accept” the view. It’s your right and your business if you want to be hypocritical and support the party that historically HATES the military and those who serve and I accept that, but I don’t HAVE to accept your point of view.

Liberals who rip off people’s hats, confront them, get in their faces, scream obscenities at them simply because they express support for someone THEY don’t like is the point. This is not replicated on the right. Would you agree that we would all be better off if liberals would stop that promoting that?

@Brother Bob: Are you saying Wordsmith is a reactionary screamer?—contributes drive by snark? How bout Mata and Aye Chi two Conservatives I stayed in touch with? Agree on Larry,

Wasn’t it just a day or two ago that RW said the only poll that counts is the one from 2016?

And, as I’m sure you notice, RW looooves to ask questions of others but, time after time, refused to address questions posed to him.

RW is a hypocrite, blathering about his “Semper Fi” credentials but railing on anyone who has not worn the uniform of a U.S. military branch. Yet, again, in his true hypocritical form, admits he voted for Clinton, Obama and Bernie Sanders. He mourns the loss of Mata and Aye, two who acted in less than honorable ways here, because they leaned left and gave him support for his leftist views. Boohoo.

RW used to post in a somewhat rational manner, but he is so eat up with TDS, that he crossed the Rubicon and has become a case in point on why his state, California, is rapidly going down the drain.

@retire05: It would be unfair for me to comment or judge others whom I have not read any comment, I cannot see how he can miss them if he keeps in contact with them.
Seems tyranny and government over-reach are welcomed by certain trolls and they are not just leaning left they are commies straight up.
There may be some good news I rea the NSA will be stopping the mass collection of meta data on citizens as expose by Snowden.

NEWS FLASH: POT CALLS KETTLE BLACK!

March 3, 2019 6:52

“So I apologize for having offended you – ANY of you. It WAS fun, but no longer, so goodbye.”

So the sodomite’s promise of leaving lasted less than 48 hours. .

Seems he is not a man of his word.

@retire05: There’s no point in having forums like this if they simply turn into an echo chamber like the NYT.

@Deplorable Me:

I agree. And I am more than willig to debate issues, and differences, in a rational and logical manner. But I also don’t want someone who simply wants to shove their identity politics agenda in my face. I don’t care if you’re black, green, purple or XYZ, stop hyphenating who you are. Just be an American.

I have stated before my heritage but the bottom line is I am an American. End of story. Frankly, the “persecution” schtick grew old a long time ago.

@retire05: You wanna clarify who said that and in which post—-actually your calling George a sodomite answers the question–nasty as ever.–always the personal insults.

@retire05:

George said that. And he self identifies as a sodomite so take that up with him.
Don’t lecture me on being insulting. You wrote the book on how to be insulting. You drew first blood with me, not the other way around, and George followed in your foot steps when he first came on this site and slammed those who are straight and Christians.

I owe neither one of you any courtesy. You have not earned it. Saul Alinsky tactics work both ways, RW.

@richard wheeler: Its a dictionary term, expanded by urban lingo to also mean anyone who lives on the west coast.
If you wish to further expand it to be an insult thats your definition.
Lots of words can be misinterpreted, and the definitions changed to try to control a subject or conversation. Skeptical: not easily convinced; having doubts or reservations. When one is skeptical of Global Warming causes, they are now deniers
even if they never deny that climate changes.
Do you think a person has the right to dress as they please, wear clothing that indicates support of a political party or person?

@retire05: You and your continued Saul Alinsky meme—Never read a word he’s written and have absolutely no interest in doing so
RE—Military service and treatment of POW’S—DT’s dismissal of Mac’s.internment and torture was the final straw for me and other vets I know. Obviosly not the case for his minority base that continued to support him

@Richard Wheeler: And people here criticized him for it. You on the other hand worked on a campaign that called McCain a warmongering, white racist who was mentally unfit for office making fun of his war related disabilities in the process. Unlike you, I actually voted for McCain. This country would be far better off today if he had won in ’08 instead of the left’s ‘god’ (remember the image you all tried to create at the convention with the pillars and all?). Just like your heartburn towards people who received deferments who have an ‘R’ behind their name while fully supporting those with a ‘D’ behind their name for doing the same, it shows hypocrisy and a double standard. Pretty elitist.

The only other Conservatives on here who “accept differing views” folks like Word and Aqua–are gone—what’s left are reactionary screamers that post almost 24/7 the same boring tripe

Do you think that maybe your constant display of double standards as noted above and your reactionary posts that all have the same tripe (see your posts on the first Covington thread as most recent proof and your constant cherry picking of polls as but two examples) have something to do with that?

@another vet: Show me where Trumpeteers criticized him for statements about Mac’s internment and torture?–did see where they called him songbird quite often.

Do you agree with BB in#12 that Wordsmith is a reactionary screamer contributing drive by snark? WTF How bout Aqua, Aye Chi and Mata? Do you think those 4’s brand of Conservatism is reflected in the current crowd that posts here at FA?

@richard wheeler: Mac showed his deep commitment to free market and small government with his thumbs down on ending AHCA after he campaigned (the liar) on it, he was an ignorant globalist a big government asshole. You cant ride on the nam record forever what did he ever do for vets? or MIAs? Why did McCain vote no on all the Bills that would help Veterans?

@richard wheeler:

Go back and read what was written here when he made the statement.

Do you agree with BB in#12 that Wordsmith is a reactionary screamer contributing drive by snark? WTF How bout Aqua, Aye Chi and Mata?

Given they were all contributors here and not drive by’s, BB may have mis-written what he wrote. I’ll have to let him elaborate. I read the posts that Aqua, Aye, and Mata wrote in response to you back when they posted here and they did quite well at slamming you. I’m guessing whatever conversations you’ve had with them since doesn’t reflect your Maxine Waters’ reactionary traits that you exhibit more and more each passing day here giving them a false perception of how reactionary you yourself have become. I do notice there was no response as to you working on a campaign that was just as nasty to McCain as the ‘songbird’ accusations meaning it’s not what was said, but who said it that really matters.

Progressives. With ideas so good they’re mandatory.

@another vet: Do you agree with the crap Kitt is posting about Mac—that’s what I’m talking about–I don’t think I misread BB’S comments on Word-we’ll see.
I think Kelly and Mattis were making a CLEAR statement when they resigned from Trump Admin.

@Richard Wheeler:

You and your continued Saul Alinsky meme—Never read a word he’s written and have absolutely no interest in doing so

I would have thought that you would have a cursory interest in the dictum of the political party you subscribe to and support. Not having such simply makes you another sheeple.

RE—Military service and treatment of POW’S—DT’s dismissal of Mac’s.internment and torture was the final straw for me and other vets I know.

Not everyone viewed John McCain as a god. John McCain was not the only person to suffer at the Hanoi Hilton. His injuries were most sustained when he ejected his plane, unlike Sam Johnson who sustained all his injuries at the hands of the NVC. And unlike McCain, Sam Johnson never sold out the POWs like McCain did to cozy up to John Kerry. The videos of McCain humiliating the wives of POWs can probably still be found on YouTube. And Sam Johnson, also a Republican, never sold out his Republican Party or conservative values. There was another valiant warrior who turned coat, i.e. Benedict Arnold. Being a war hero can only sustain one for so long until their actions, after war, diminishes all glory. McCain did that when he went after the wives of POWs during the Congressional hearing on POWs. That is when he lost me. Never mind dumping the wife that fought so long, and so hard, for his release as he had a new (rich) one in the wings.

And DT (as you refer to our President) has done more for veterans than the self-centered MCCain ever did, yet you worship McCain and abhor President Trump. Perhaps you would like to explain that mindset?

Mac did more for Vets than Trump will ever do—-he was tortured and declined the opportunity to be released early–the only disabilities Trump ever had were conjured up between himself and his doctor

AV–See #29 31-33 for more of the same.

@Richard Wheeler: I really dont see how being tortured helped other vets after he was in office, it only gave him something to wave about for votes, then when it came time to cast his vote or fight for vets and servicemen he turned his back on them gave them the thumbs down. Its not BS it was his record while in the senate. He went to Europe and was so worried about the NWO, agenda 21. Wanted a China model of government for the USA. What did he actually do for vets when he had the power to do so? NOTHING On top of it he sucked as a pilot, only got the job on his daddy and grand-daddys coat-tails.
You dont have to like the truth, I sure as hell dont.
If you can prove me incorrect do it.
Do you think a person has the right to dress as they please, wear clothing that indicates support of a political party or person?

@Richard Wheeler:

Mac did more for Vets than Trump will ever do

That is absurd. Not that McCain did nothing, but Trump is dedicated to helping veterans and reconstituting the VA into something that serves veterans instead of merely and instrument to give government lifers something to do until they draw their pensions.

@Richard Wheeler:

Mac did more for Vets than Trump will ever do—-he was tortured and declined the opportunity to be released early–

How did that help veterans? How did he do more than Sam Johnson? Veterans needed help AFTER they got home and the wives of POWs did not deserve what McCain dished out to them.
