You must admit, The View is dependable. It’s dependable for sheer idiocy and hypocrisy. Today one of the Bwitches of Eastview, Joy Behar, pretty much insisted that the US go to war with the Russians.
Today on ABC’s The View, the panelists had a lot to say about Donald Trump and his relationship with Russia. As other public figures have proven in the last few days, there was certainly plenty to discuss, given his reported Secretary of State pick is a good friend of Vladimir Putin‘s and the CIA has now said that Russia absolutely attempted to sway the election by hacking into various email accounts and databases.
The Russians “absolutely attempted” to way the election? Let’s have a look at that WaPo report. It reports:
The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, according to officials briefed on the matter.
Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances.
Now for the fine print:
The CIA presentation to senators about Russia’s intentions fell short of a formal U.S. assessment produced by all 17 intelligence agencies. A senior U.S. official said there were minor disagreements among intelligence officials about the agency’s assessment, in part because some questions remain unanswered.
For example, intelligence agencies do not have specific intelligence showing officials in the Kremlin “directing” the identified individuals to pass the Democratic emails to WikiLeaks, a second senior U.S. official said. Those actors, according to the official, were “one step” removed from the Russian government, rather than government employees. Moscow has in the past used middlemen to participate in sensitive intelligence operations so it has plausible deniability.
So, to be clear, they really don’t have anything. The echo chamber known as the NY Times jumped in as well:
WASHINGTON — American intelligence agencies have concluded with “high confidence” that Russia acted covertly in the latter stages of the presidential campaign to harm Hillary Clinton’s chances and promote Donald J. Trump, according to senior administration officials.
They based that conclusion, in part, on another finding — which they say was also reached with high confidence — that the Russians hacked the Republican National Committee’s computer systems in addition to their attacks on Democratic organizations, but did not release whatever information they gleaned from the Republican networks.
Now everyone is wetting their depends, including two of Donald Trump’s most vocal GOP critics:
A secret CIA assessment uncovered by the Washington Post on Friday concluded that Russia intervened in the U.S. presidential election to help Trump win the White House.
The revelation prompted a Sunday statement from Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.) and Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), that seemed designed to cool partisan fighting.
Their call for an investigation said the recent cyberattacks “have cut to the heart of our free society.”
But hang on a second. Didn’t obama say there was no interference with our elections? Why, yes he did.
The Obama administration said it has seen no evidence of hackers tampering with the 2016 presidential election, even as recount proceedings began in Wisconsin.
“We stand behind our election results, which accurately reflect the will of the American people,” a senior administration official told POLITICO late Friday.
“The federal government did not observe any increased level of malicious cyber activity aimed at disrupting our electoral process on election day,” the official added. “We believe our elections were free and fair from a cybersecurity perspective.”
The RNC denies, despite what the Slimes says, that it has been hacked and no evidence of hacking has been offered. The FBI disagrees with the CIA about the motivation:
The political world has been shaken by the reports about the CIA’s apparent determination that Russia intervened in the election to help Donald Trump. However, an FBI official reportedly gave a presentation before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence this weekend, and said the CIA’s claims were “fuzzy” and “ambiguous.”
John Brennan is the CIA director and he has a history of lying. In fact the very same WaPo that places all its eggs in the CIA basket was calling for Obama to fire Brennan two years ago. So color me skeptical about CIA claims.
But there are a couple of other issues. First- why are we so bothered by Russia? According to obama, the Cold War is over
Second, Behar and democrats are worried about Trump being friends with Putin and Russia? They seem to have forgotten how obama promised to bend over for Putin:
“Mr Obama says: “On all these issues, but particularly missile defence, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space.”
Mr Medvedev replies: “Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you …”
Mr Obama retorts: “This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.”
I don’t recall democrats screaming about the hammer and sickle on our flag back then. I don’t recall democrats complaining about obama being too chummy with Vlad.
Third, is it really hacking if you willingly give out your password? clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta willingly gave out his email account password in a phishing expedition:
The Podesta spear-phishing hack was instigated with an email that purported to come from Google informing him that someone had used his password to try to access his Google account. It included a link to a spoofed Google webpage that asked him to change his password because his current password had been stolen. The link to the spoofed webpage included a long chain of seemingly random alphanumeric characters that looks like gobbledygook to most people. In fact the gobbledygook contained a Bitly encoded string containing Podesta’s name and email address that was inserted into the spoofed webpage to make it look authentic.
Podesta clicked the link and changed his password. Or so he thought. Instead, he gave his Google password to Fancy Bear and his emails began appearing on WikiLeaks in early October.
So why all the fuss? Didn’t democrats tell us no one cares about clinton’s emails? Huffington Post said no one cared:
The American people are sick and tired of hearing about her damn emails. There’s no smoking gun in the report. If that makes you unhappy, blame the liberal media.
Newsweek called it a “nothing burger.”
And yet now they do care- perhaps because they lost and need some excuse for that loss other than their candidate was highly flawed. As for hacking, the solution is simple: if you want to stop this “hacking”, choose a better candidate with a better campaign chairman. Stop sending emails with incriminating information that makes you look so criminal. Don’t willingly hand over your email passwords. And perhaps it would be appropriate to care more about jobs than putting men into toilets with little girls.
People got more information about hillary than the DNC banked on- they got the truth. That’s what has the left wing panties in a twist. The voting was not interfered with, the Cold War is over, obama promised to be flexible with Vladimir Putin.
There is nothing to this story, other than donkey dust.
The guests who appear on these liberal talk shows like The View,Bill Maher and such other are as bright as a 10 watt bulb and has all the intellegence of a ant
Well done DrJ.
As insane as Obama looked during that “open mike” moment above, the MSM gave him a pass. Fear of being accused of racism is a powerful deterrent.
As to Russian ‘hacking — I’ve known a number of Russian software/programming engineers, . . . and they are absolutely brilliant and as creative as any we have here. IMHO, just like our best and brightest, if they do NOT want to be “traced” you will not be able to detect where the hacking came from.
PLUS, there is no evidence of “hacking”. There is only evidence, so far, of reaching into a server, or servers, and pulling information, . . . not changing or otherwise corrupting it.
The Admin, that includes CIA/FBI and anyone appointed, launched this meme since Trump represents a complete slaughter of Obama’s legacy.
The sliminess from the left on this is dumbfounding. The Clintonistas want everyone to be upset about an alledged hacking possibly influencing voters…but want everyone to ignore the actual substance of what was allegedly hacked and became public knowledge.
They are the vehicle by which the hard left gets their message out, and they attempt to have them placed above criticism……
You’re right, James. There is zero evidence that any data was altered in any way.
If the CIA, or whoever will actually do the technological analysis, do the job right, they will uncover that a senior member of the Clinton circle (likely Podesta) made a serious error such as getting sucked into providing his passwords, etc., to a fake page.
AND they will also discover that those same senior people, including clueless Clinton and her server managers, DID NOT effectively protect their servers and their data.
The Clinton server will prove to have been a bigger problem than the community-organizer-in-Chief will want to admit.
If these whiny babies had the same distrust and animosity against Russia when they occupied Crimea, we would have kicked them all the way back to Moscow.
I guess bending over low and placing big, sloppy smooches on Putin’s ass is not the same as being “friends”.
The Perfect Weapon: How Russian Cyberpower Invaded the U.S.—and turned a presidential election in favor of their preferred candidate.
@Bill… Deplorable Me, #7:
As if Trump supporters actually cared. They just elected new president who either didn’t know the Russians had already taken over Crimea, or didn’t know that Crimea was part of Ukraine. Take your pick. Either choice demonstrates they’re putting a guy in the White House who hasn’t got a clue.
Outside the context of his corporate offices, the man is an idiot. He should have stayed where he knew what he was doing and where he wasn’t a serious danger to the safety of the nation.
@Greg: I guess I can take comfort in our choice for the new President when so many of the whiny, crying opposition argues without a point, a clue, a fact or integrity. Nothing but weak, thin accusations and excuses so numerous and varied, it is as if they come, daily, from a spinning dart board.
Obama has recently stated Trump ASKED the Russians to hack Hillary… an outright, boldface lie (the final of his term? I doubt it). Really, Greg, this is very unbecoming of an adult.
The electoral intervention effort is lead by a couple of real morons. Van Jones, a dirtbagm and the daughters of Pelosi and franken Feinstein, two more dirtbags…..
What are you snowflakes going to do after 20 January 2017?
BTW, your link to this tripe from the left wing rag the atlantic was a colossal example of the ignorance of the left when it comes to the Constitution. You morons have not a clue as to the intent of the Electoral college..
Remind me again.
How did Russia convince Hillary not to bother campaigning?
She didn’t hardly go to many states that could have made a difference.
And she kept to very small venues unless she had a ”free” band to bump up her crowd numbers.
Hillary’s own email issues were cascading down on her favorability numbers LONG before the DNC leaks via Podesta came out.
Has everyone forgotten the Blumenthal email hack?
And Hillary’s Foundation issues were also eating away at her support as blacks saw fellow blacks from Haiti reaming her every day in NY.
Even her own words were an issue.
She would close all the coal mines and put all of the coal miners out of work.
Oh, gee, thanks…..NOT!
Although union leaders voted for her and forced their members to donate to her, the union membership voted Trump overwhelmingly!
In CA, long before the Russian hack, we learned that the SEIU was one of the biggest donors to the GOP!
Because the law there makes it mandatory that members get a say in which party gets their union dues donations.
The signs were everywhere that Hillary was in trouble.
Her health was seen as an issue when she sent out surrogates and stayed home so often.
The “Russian hack” had nothing to do with that, either.
The fact that she couldn’t handle daily campaigning indicated she, in no way, was capable of a 24-7-365 job.
Read this and tell me how Russia had anything to do with it:
How Clinton lost Michigan — and blew the election
Across battlegrounds, Democrats blame HQ’s stubborn strategy.
SEIU had wanted to go to Michigan from the beginning, but been ordered not to by the Clinton team.
The anecdotes are different but the narrative is the same across battlegrounds, where Democratic operatives lament a one-size-fits-all approach drawn entirely from pre-selected data.
They had their model, this is how they’re going to do it. Their thing was, ‘We don’t have to leave [literature] at the doors, everyone knows who Hillary Clinton is.’
There’s this illusion that the Clinton campaign had a ground game.
The deal is that the Clinton campaign could have had a ground game. They had people in the states who were willing to do stuff. But they didn’t provide people anything to do.
Hillary’s headquarters was interested in how many volunteers they had BUT never gave them the hand-held devices to input how people leaned….otherwise they would have learned just how popular Trump was with white working, even union men.
ALSO Hillary’s headquarters trusted polls that favored Dems in their proportions (thus leaning unfairly toward Hillary.
WHAT part of this was Russia’s fault?
None of it!
Question: if there was no literature, not many paid workers, only volunteers, where did the $1.3 BILLION go??
Lining Hillary’s pockets?
A nice party for the million dollar donor club is coming.
Doesnt matter Trump won Hillary lost, We know China and Russia have hacking experts, and with open borders seems we have open data bases this admin has failed at every turn. The RNC and DNC responsible for securing their own systems, now lets look at what these hacks show as the emails were made public.
Whoa! the DNC fixed the primary for Horrible Hillary, thats election tampering naughty naughty. Oh and these cheaters also got questions and were allowed to input question to debates for the opposition hmm doesnt seem fair.
Guess Trump isnt the only genius to lose a billion dollars seems Hillarys campaign spent 1.3 billion dollars and lost.
Trump, regarding the CIA’s conclusion that the Russians conducted targeted hacking with the specific intention of helping Trump be elected:
I can certainly understand how putting this guy in the White House could turn out to be Vladimir Putin’s master stroke.
Did you know the President of the Russian Federation can personally issue any secret orders to the SVR RF without consulting either of the houses of Russia’s Federal Assembly? He has that legal authority. The entire apparatus of the enormously sophisticated SVR espionage system is at Vladimir Putin’s personal beck and call.
I’d bet dollars against doughnuts that president elect Donald Trump doesn’t know what the SVR RF is. I guarantee you, Barack Obama knows. The CIA most certainly knows.
Do you think for even a moment that Donald Trump and his business empire haven’t been targeted by Russian hackers? If there are goods to be had on this guy that could be used to influence him to Russia’s advantage—and it’s a virtual certainty that a multi-billion dollar financial empire has some serious secrets—the Russians have either got at them already, or very soon will. Meanwhile, Donald Trump evidently believes our own intelligence community is worse that useless. He has demeaned and alienated them before even taking office. Give that some thought.
@Greg: I wonder why the CIA won’t brief Congress on their dead-nut, locked-tight evidence of Russian involvement? Any guesses?
@Bill- Deplorable Me, #16:
According to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, “senior administration officials have regularly provided extensive, detailed classified and unclassified briefings to members and staff from both parties on Capitol Hill since this past summer and have continued to do so after Election Day.”
They have declined to provide House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes with an opportunity to take control of the story for the purpose of media spin. Nunes recently became a member of Trump’s transition team. A member of the foxes’ team might not be the most objective person to investigate the robbery of the hen house.
What the intelligence community wants is an objective, bi-partisan investigation. That’s what team Trump doesn’t want. They want the story to go away.
Quite interesting amid the revelation that the Secretary of States office in Georgia was hacked by DHS.
Brennen is behind the CIA leak. He is a moslem stooge for obama. He should be arrested for trying to start a coup d’etat.
@kitt: @kitt: America lost when these two got nominated.
July 4 Where do you come up with this stuff–You been hanging with Sterling Plover?
@Greg: No, the left does not want to provide any substantiation for their wild-ass claims. It appears they HAVE no smoking gun and had their bluff called.
So now, the intelligence agencies that work for THE PEOPLE refuse to answer to the representatives of THE PEOPLE. Obama has ruined these agencies.
@Bill- Deplorable Me: Do you think Repubs., like you, will blame Obama for as long as Dems blamed Bush? Does either serve any purpose?
Putin can’t wait to test wits with Trump.
@Rich Wheeler: Its all in Wikileaks just because the info was taken, and they never denied any of it was untrue, doesnt make the emails not news, yes quite ignored by MSM and it wasn’t the Russians that hacked it was a stupid phishing email that Podesta opened, the other theory is an inside job, someone in the DNC itself seeing the corruption and deciding it needed exposing. There are multiple news people that show up in wikileaks working with the DNC to try to influence the election, create fake news and cover for Hillary and her server by not reporting about her recklessness with security.
Seems Slick is down to about 117 lbs he must be ill or something. Wikileaks was te sweetheat of the Dems when they were releasing stuff on Bush, now not so much.
The House bill H.R. 5181
Countering Disinformation and Propaganda Act” was quietly included in the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This was passed in Senate December 8. Did your news station advise you of these attacks on the constitution? No there is no difference between Rs and Ds they just hate the rights we have.
@Rich Wheeler: Obama blamed Bush for the economic downturn when, in fact, it was liberal social engineering that brought about the housing and lending crash. Obama blamed Bush for the war in Iraq when, in fact, the intelligence that led to that war was collected under Clinton, who ignored his responsibility to take bin Laden out when he had multiple opportunities.
Meanwhile, the lethargic economy, low labor participation rate, lack of jobs and enormous debt is of Obama’s making. The horrific global situation is of Obama’s making. The racial strife is of Obama’s making. The assault on the electoral and transfer of power process is of Obama’s making. It would be well to hold Obama accountable.
However, excuses are for those who cannot perform and this is why Obama needed so many. Let us observe Trump’s performance, then judge.
@Bill… Deplorable Me:
Quite simply, the bar has been lowered so much by the Obama that an Orange juice can would be an improvement in the Oval Office.
The Obama has been a cataclysmic disaster in so many respects it will take a generation or more to unravel the damage that has been done.
On the surface there is the obvious; the debt, labor participation, education, unconstitutional actions, public office corruption(DOJ), public confidence in government and the purposeful racial divide.
Then there is what we do not know that hopefully will be revealed over time…..
