According to a NY Times article Barack Obama eventually roused himself from his usual daily narcissistic haze to realize that America was shaken by the terrorism attack in San Bernardino:

And that set off a flood of criticism. Barack Obama. Insensitive. Callous. Doesn’t watch enough cable TV.
As we know, the NY Times is the official state newspaper of the Obama White House and anything that might besmirch The One is not to be permitted. So they rewrote it- stealthily, so it no longer would embarrass The One. Apparently they don’t want anyone to think that he doesn’t watch enough cable TV. That’s not the real story.
Although he denies watching cable TV, he watches plenty. No it’s not that he doesn’t watch enough cable TV. It’s that he really doesn’t give a shit. In the Obama universe, the is only Obama. There is nothing else. Only the One.

Minutes after speaking with the parents of James Foley, who was beheaded by ISIS, Obama was teeing off on Martha’s Vineyard. He’s got his priorities.
So come on. It’s only 14 dead in San Bernardino. That’s nothing.
It’s nothing for the guy who said we could easily absorb another 9-11 attack.
Cable TV? Obama watches lots of cable TV. Thin skinned as he is, he’s keenly aware of what they say about him on Fox News. And he always has those NCAA brackets ready come March Madness.
It’s not that he doesn’t watch cable. It’s that he doesn’t give a shit.

As for a few dead here or there, he looks upon all that from an actuarial viewpoint.
More Americans die from X or Y than from terrorist attacks —- so shut up.

When this dimwitted narcissist actually stated those words when blabbing about ISIS, he was evidently addressing his ignorant horde with a completely insane and obvious statement, to justify his lethargic and deaf strategy.
Americans aren’t afraid that ISIS will render America “Extinct.” But feeling unsafe in your own country lays the culpability in the lap of this Administration. Government’s first responsibility is keeping its citizens safe. This uninterested golfer didn’t particularly care for his country when first elected, and doesn’t care for it now. He’s yawned through the whole evolution of ISIS. What is it that he’s proud of?

Once again, the actual telling fact is buried in the minutia. Obama didn’t realize people would worry about more terrorist attacks until someone did a survey and and revealed it to him. Didn’t see it on the news? Maybe if he (and the rest of the liberal clown college) stopped watching only the media that they can be assured will reinforce their already established wrong perceptions, they might LEARN something. But, knowing they won’t like what they would learn, they maintain their willful ignorance.
But why would the NYT worry about deleting Obama’s weak and stupid excuse for not anticipating that most Americans would be anxious due to his failure to address a threat to citizen’s safety? All they have to do is just deny he said it… the lemmings will be more than happy to believe yet another lie.
