“…And another great day in this, the greatest country on God’s green earth.”

Loading

That is the opening and closing tagline to the Michael Medved Show. And it annoys some people. Whether true or not (and it’s true), apparently taking pride in one’s country and expressing it so blatantly and unapologetically is an offensive “no-no”. At least to some. And those “some people” I am talking about are most assuredly somewhere left of center.

While I did not find the Super Bowl Coca-Cola commercial offensive nor “un-American” like some Americans (remember the old “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” Coca-Cola commercial?), I do find this deeply un-American, idiotic, asinine, and blockheaded:

Students and parents at a Colorado high school are outraged after administrators turned down their request for a spirit week day honoring America because it might offend non-Americans.

“They said they didn’t want to offend anyone from other countries or immigrants,” a 16-year-old member of the student council told me. “They just really did not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.”

Um….”not offend anyone from other countries or immigrants”?! Say what?!? If I’m visiting another country, one of the things I look forward to is that country celebrating its own culture. I find beauty in a people who take pride in their customs and express love for the land they live in. I don’t go to Japan to eat KFC and be made to feel at home by my Japanese hosts by taking me out to a Japanese McDonalds. I want to be immersed in the local culture and customs of the place I am visiting. And I would be no more “offended” by Japanese taking pride in Japan than I would an American in his own backyard celebrating the beauty of the United States.

Furthermore, how can these school officials fear offending “immigrants”? If they are immigrants, wouldn’t you expect that they are immigrating to this country to become American and would have a love of American culture and celebration? Why would you immigrate to a country whose culture and customs offends you?

The student council at Fort Collins High School had proposed having a day to celebrate the United States during next week’s Winter Spirit Week. The young people pitched “’Merica Monday” – and invited their classmates to dress in patriotic colors. Their proposal was promptly shot down by administrators.

“They said they didn’t want to be exclusive to any other country,” a 17-year-old member of the student council told me.

So in America we can’t celebrate “Americanism”? What happens at this school during the 4th of July? Multi-National celebration?

In an act of appeasement:

After the administrators rejected the day to celebrate America, the teenagers offered a compromise – “My Country Monday.”

“We opened it up to everyone – no matter what country you are from,” the 17-year-old student told me. “That got declined, too.”

~~~
The irony, said the students, is that they are required to participate in Cinco de Mayo celebrations. One member of the student council pointed out the hypocrisy – and noted that students were not being forced to dress in red, white and blue for “’Merica Day.”
“We were confused why we couldn’t do one day that was for America,” the student told me.
The parents said they are “so tired” of political correctness.
The principal at Fort Collins High School did not return my phone calls and neither did the assistant principal. A spokesperson for the Poudre School District sent me a statement acknowledging that they rejected the “’Merica Day” celebration.
“Building administration met with the students to discuss the inconsistency of this day versus the other planned theme days including PJ day and Twin day,” the statement read. “The students then suggested changing the first day to My Country Monday and administration agreed. This theme day allows students to showcase their pride in America and for international students, their country of origin.”
However, parents and students said that’s not accurate. They said My Country Monday was originally rejected last week and was only reinstated midday Monday – shortly after I called the school district and began making inquiries (a coincidence, I’m sure.)
I asked the district spokesperson to clarify their statement. The spokesperson did not return my message.
“They said they didn’t feel comfortable having a day celebrated where students might feel uncomfortable with the patriotism that students are showing,” one of the students told me.
Unbelievable. This is the United States of America. We welcome the huddled masses yearning to be free with arms wide open. But if you come to our land and take offense at our values and traditions, then as we say down South, “don’t let the door hit you where good Lord split you.”
And shame on the administrators at Fort Collins High School for treating American school children like second-class citizens.
Like the “War on Christmas”, the misguided, convoluted thinking of those crammed full of political correctness would culturally impoverish the whole world for fear of being exclusive and risk offending anyone.
If Michael Medved were, say, Canadian, and regularly expressed his love of Canada with a tagline for his radio program that “Canada was the greatest nation on God’s green earth”, why should I be offended? How does that do me damage what this person thinks? When someone expresses that “My dad is the greatest” or “My mom is the best mom in the whole wide world”, what on earth is to be gained by taking offense and arguing the point? It makes my heart glad when I hear people express such love for their own father and mother. Same holds true for a patriot for his country.
With that said, quite frankly, America is indeed the greatest, most indispensible, significant nation of consequence and the last best hope of the world. Why do I say this? Because I am an unapologetic American; and because it’s true.
As I expressed in a comment section before:
it’s also the case that conservatives are misunderstood by liberals when we rail against the concept of multiculturalism and embrace the idea of American exceptionalism.
I love celebrating the diversity and beauty of other cultures; but when it comes to being an American, I value the concept of an American melting pot and not a salad bowl where all cultures are created equal (they are not, even if it sounds like an ugly, pompous, and self-centered thing to say. Think Michael Jordan. He and I were not created equal when it comes to cultural significance to the world of basketball; yet the multicultural-type of mindset will have you believe we are both equally significant and important in our contributions to the world). I don’t want separate mini-countries (other cultures) segregated within a country (the U.S.). I prefer assimilation into established American culture. Yes, add your own unique cultural flavor to the mix; but don’t replace what’s already there with your own brand.
Celebrating America as “the greatest country on God’s green earth” isn’t about being arrogant and putting down other countries as lesser than us by doing so. When those from other countries express pride and patriotism and love of country, I think it’s a beautiful thing. It’s wonderful when people are in love with where they came from- their home, their neighborhood, their city, their school, their state…their country. It’s sad when they are not. When someone says, “my dad is the best!”, why must I argue “No he’s not” then start pointing out all of the man’s faults to prove to the son what is otherwise not the case? Those who believe in American exceptionalism aren’t denying the sins of our country; but we choose not to dwell on them- something that Howard Zinn liberals and blame-America firsters hand-wring over or over-magnify them. Not without balancing it out with what’s great about our country.
What multiculturalists want to do, as I understand them, is to claim that all cultures are created equal, have equal significance to American history, and deserve equal recognition. This goes back to my Michael Jordan analogy. It may be an idea that makes some people feel good so as not to experience hurt feelings and feelings of being “left out”; but it’s misguided. It’s the same sentiment that drives liberals to want to update American history books with a more “balanced” text by including the contributions to American history by ethnic minorities, gays, and women. What’s next? Fat people? Short people? The inclusion of a person’s role to general American history should be based upon the significance and size of their actual contribution to it- not in order to magnify the role of some and minimize the role of others just so special interest groups can feel good about themselves by who they identify with. How about identifying with Americans regardless of ethnicity, sex, and sexual orientation?
I’m sorry, but Islam had very little to do with founding this country. I’m sorry if that makes Muslim multiculturalists uncomfortable, but it shouldn’t. They should take pride in George Washington and identify with him and embrace him if they are Muslim-American. American textbooks don’t need to be updated by searching high and low for some obscure Muslim founding father and claim he had equal significance to the nation’s beginnings as Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, etc.
But this is what multiculturalists want. 13-15% of the population may be black; but if that is reflected in, say, Hollywood, they complain about lack of equal representation on tv and on the big screen (news to me that non-white actors aren’t starring in leading roles). Diversity happens naturally. It should not be forced, however. Whites, blacks, yellows, reds, Thais, Irish, Samoans, Presbyterians, Mormons, etc. did not all contribute equally to the formation of our country. The lament that most of America’s presidents have been a whites-only club is a ridiculous argument. I’ve heard some use the point as proof-positive of America’s racist attitudes! Good grief!
“Clearly, a civilization that feels guilty for everything it is and does will lack the energy and conviction to defend itself.”
Are you kidding me? Is this a community of wusses? The students and parents need to say “screw these politically correct globalist principal and school board members” and celebrate on their own in open defiance. Wear your patriotic-shirts and colors proudly and to hell with these little Hitlers.
Students and parents at a Colorado high school are outraged after administrators turned down their request for a spirit week day honoring America because it might offend non-Americans.
How many non-Americans are attending that high school on the American nickel and why are they even there?
“Why would you immigrate to a country whose culture and customs offends you?”
This is a great question. This is why liberals are how do they say “intellectually DISHONEST”
Another problem in AMERICA is, there must be plenty of people who do not travel. For if they did, and they actually embraced the ‘locals’ and the ‘culture’ in these far away places….they just may start to embrace their OWN COUNTRY…more.
A friend of a friend of mine, American, background Italian/German – went to Turkey some years back. Long story short although she did get a taste of another ‘culture’ and enjoyed her stay (she stayed with some friends and family of her husband). These people lived further away from the ‘city’ . One thing she absolutely did not like, and was so happy ‘to be back home’ to enjoy…wait for it… her BATHROOM. Why? Because they use a basic hole in the ground….and I know there are some wayward places in Italy for instance, where they do the same.
People who do travel…(most) travelers do not see the gritty (local) side of life in other countries. And yes, some ARE dangerous if you do not know the area… or know someone who could be your guide..and yes, you could become prey…So, travelers stay in “nice” or the “best”‘ hotels their money can afford. See all the “sights” and all the niceties that country has to offer…and then go home
Americans of the liberal persuasion could be so much happier being AMERICAN in AMERICA if they ONLY KNEW, could only SEE how others live in other countries and what they have to do to ‘just’ get through life everyday…it would wipe that liberal smile right off their faces….
Europe countries embrace a lot of their history…seemingly without a lot of ‘shame’ the good and the bad…they hold on to their history…and it also helps tourism..
I am unapologetic and stand behind America, being American our Great History and of course Michael Medved 300%…
GOD BLESS AMERICA -Unapologetically!
“Why would you immigrate to a country whose culture and customs offends you?”
People are Greedy and will do so in order to live off the dole of Americans (Government) for liberal/demon-cratic votes of course…that’s why…
Self loathing liberals don’t care… after all, it’s not “their” money…dumbasses
There used to be a time before liberalism bull shit…immigrants and visitors ’embraced’ being American…they LOVED AMERICA….but, thanks to liberals that even turned to shit.
I think our schools have been infiltrated, just like our government has been. That is one of the steps to brainwashing kids to be ready for a socialist type of government. You are supposed to be loyal only to your government.
“Why would you immigrate to a country whose culture and customs offends you?”
To turn it into a country that has the culture and customs they want. A lot of the illegals didn’t come here to emulate into Americans. There are immigrant protest to take back land that had been taken from Mexico. Known terrorist have been caught entering America from Mexico. How many terrorists weren’t caught? We have no idea how many people are in the USA who want to change it into something else.
Wow. I pulled my kids out of public schools about a dozen years ago for FAR LESS and much more subtle multicultural anti-American crapola than what these Colorado dope smoking ‘educators’ are doing. It’s all on the parents whether they subject their children to this passive child abuse or not.
America may not be best, and may be stumbling around because of the leftist contamination, but it’s still light-years ahead of whoever’s in second place.
@Jim S:
You haven’t looked at the recent numbers:
This year the United States ranked 26th in mathematics, 21st in science, and 17th in reading, while Asian countries and regions – such as Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea – topped the list. For the United States, there was no measurable change in scores since 2009.
Out of 60 countries participating The United States education systems results are nowhere near 2nd place. Our educational standards have consistently gone down hill since President Carter created the US Department of Education and Democrats have essentially taken full control of our national education system.
This dumbing down of our children seems to be another part of the Democratic party’s War on Children.
It didn’t take long…..
Administrators reverse ban on American celebration at high school
After a day of righteous Rocky Mountain outrage, the principal at Fort Collins High School reversed course and apologized.
Principal Mark Eversole sent a letter to parents announcing that next Monday would in fact be America Day.
Here is the entire letter:
“We apologize for our recent decision regarding My Country Monday and that it was seen as not patriotic.
This could not be further from the truth.
The original intent of Spread the Love week at Fort Collins High School was to unify the student body.
When students first proposed “Merica Monday,” we felt that it was against this unifying theme and disrespectful to our country.
Merica is a slang term that is often used in a negative stereotypical way to describe life in the United States.
This is what led us to discuss alternatives with students.
We were surprised that our community interpreted our actions as anti-American.
We are a proud public school in America and support many activities to celebrate our great nation.
Due to this outpouring of sentiment and misinterpretation of our intentions, we have decided to rename the first day of Spread the Love week to “America Day” as opposed to “Merica Day.”
We look forward to enjoying the creativity and energy of our students as they celebrate their patriotism next week.”
And it annoys some people. Whether true or not (and it’s true), apparently taking pride in one’s country and expressing it so blatantly and unapologetically is an offensive “no-no”. At least to some. And those “some people” I am talking about are most assuredly somewhere left of center.
Isn’t one major difference between America and a totalitarian state the simple fact one doesn’t have to pay faux lip service to the State? This argument seems to imply the opposite. I’m a pretty patriotic guy, but I’m sure as hell not going to modify my thoughts or behaviors to impress the ultra-Patriot guy next door like I’m in North Korea and the expressed fervor of my Patriotism is inextricably tied to my life expectancy.
Like the “War on Christmas”, the misguided, convoluted thinking of those crammed full of political correctness would culturally impoverish the whole world for fear of being exclusive and risk offending anyone.
Weird. I’ve lived in this country for my entire life and I’ve never seen a War on Christmas, except on Sarah Palin’s Facebook. Is this the thing where Right Wing Conservatives pretend that legitimate concerns about the separation of Church and State are really just lame-o Librals crying about the town green creche? Anyone who lives in America between Thanksgiving and Christmas knows this alleged war isn’t going well for the opposition. So is one a crazy Liberal for being concerned that thousands of taxpayer funded schools are teaching Creationism? Should we put faith our leaders, such as: “Republican congressman and member of the US House of Representatives science committee Paul Broun dismisses evolution, the big bang theory and embryology as ‘lies straight from the pit hell’. Speaking at a Baptist church last month, Broun says that ‘as a scientist’ he has found data that shows Earth is no older than 9,000 years“? I suppose America hasn’t fallen far enough behind the rest of the developed world in science education.
The Right complains about a “war on Christmas” because they want to make their aims seem innocuous and push back seem ridiculous. But as history has shown time and again, religious fanatics, whether in Iran or here, are never satisfied with private celebrations of their faith. No, they think it’s their holy mission from God to stick everyone under the same yoke. The Mullahs and the Paul Brouns of the world may see each other as diametrically opposed in God’s eye, but they both look the same to me.
You haven’t looked at the recent numbers:
All that may be true, and if so, it’s the leftist contamination I mentioned…. but we’re not talking superior in any quantifiable numeric sense, assuming there even is some kind of thing. 😉
@Tom: Isn’t one major difference between America and a totalitarian state the simple fact one doesn’t have to pay faux lip service to the State?
Oh, the irony, Tom.
The students in that Fort Collins public school are FORCED to participate in Cinco de Mayo!
Forced.
Anyway, the school is going to allow the students to have their America day this Monday.
@Nanny G:
Yeah, Nan, being forced FORCED to participate in Cinco de Mayo one day a year is somehow comparable to thousands of schools teaching children Creationism instead of science every day. I can’t imagine which would have a more deleterious effect upon these impressionable minds. Maybe we should ship them all to the FLDS where they can receive a proper religious upbringing.
TOM
@Ditto:
Out of 60 countries participating The United States education systems results are nowhere near 2nd place.
Ditto, I have visited 42 foreign countries and America is far ahead of who is in second place in those 42 countries. Probably the closest is Australia. Those test results that you mention are meaningless, because of who is being measured and what they are being measured for. Testing a 6 year old black kid that has a welfare mom with 10 other siblings and doesn’t even know his father’s name does not accurately measure the effectiveness of a school. It measures many things other than education. Compare that to a 6 year old Japanese kid that has been in school since he was 3, has a mother and father, both well educated and with a normal standard of living where education is a primary focus of the family. That testing is not a measure of his education system either. In both cases, the family, educational environments are being measured. There is no question what the results would be, but it is not a measure of the quality of the school. Then, when you do consider the schools and children are old enough for it to make a difference, everyone is taught to the dumbest level for political correctness, not to educate the children, but to indoctrinate them to the progressive, marxist agenda. Very few countries use that standard, because they don’t matter. You take the average child, with a good family and put him into a great school and he will learn comparably with anyone. I’ve seen that happen where every graduate from the school went to college and about 75% graduate from college. That’s not the norm for public schools, but is close on most private schools.
@Ditto: a quote from you link:
Van Roekel said. “It’s time for our nation to face up to that challenge, and we must start by acknowledging that the effects of poverty are pervasive. Children can’t learn in school if they lack nutritious food, a safe place to sleep or access to health care, and our society must address those needs.”
He notes that high-performing nations fully fund all of their schools and make teaching an attractive profession, and suggests the United States embrace the Common Core Standards, which 46 states and the District of Columbia have already adopted.
Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, also suggests learning from the top performing nations, where they ensure that students with the most needs get the most resources.
“The crucial question we face now is whether we have the political will to move away from the failed policies and embrace what works in high-performing countries so that we can reclaim the promise of public education,” Weingarten said.
Notice that he’s saying, more money, more liberalism (common core) is what will cure the problem. Getting the damn Dimocrats out of educating children is what we really need.
That “common core’ is pure crap. Our state has dumped it already.
@Nanny G: Ohhhhh, it’s the STUDENTS fault. They wanted to call it Merica Monday and that’s disrespectful……. Ahhhh, now I get it. The admin was stupid and now they want to blame it on the students. All righty……
@Tom:
Weird. I’ve lived in this country for my entire life and I’ve never seen a War on Christmas,
Well Tom, I’ve been living in this country longer than you, and I’d suggest you open your eyes or leave the Liberal community for a day. Nobody, certainly no conservative would want to require you to ‘be patriotic’ if you don’t choose to do so, but not choosing to do so is not the norm for Americans. But those same conservatives would tell you that while they don’t want to force you to hold your hand over your heart when the Star Spangled Banner is played, they damn sure WILL NOT allow you to tell them that they CAN NOT hold their hand over their heart in that same situation. If you don’t like patriotic displays, close your damned eyes, but don’t tell patriotic Americans that they can not have a patriotic display in the United States.
@Nanny G:
The students in that Fort Collins public school are FORCED to participate in Cinco de Mayo!
Forced.
Nanny, I’m not disputing what you say, but how/what is required of a student for Cinco de Mayo that would be ‘forceful’ on a patriotic American? I’m only asking because I really don’t know, but can’t believe anyone would be ‘forced’.
I remember when I was in elementary school we did a MayPole celebration, but no one connected that to politics in any way, but it wasn’t call Cinco de Mayo either (back in the 40’s.)
@Redteam:
It must be terrible to live in a country where disaffected Liberals wage a war on Christmas and support secession from the United States of America. Oh wait that’s conservatives. Jeez, now that I think about it, it’s conservatives who are always b*tching about America and fantasizing about running around in the woods with camouflage on, shooting people, because they hate the government. But Christmas.
If you don’t like patriotic displays, close your damned eyes, but don’t tell patriotic Americans that they can not have a patriotic display in the United States.
I promise I won’t tell you that, just like I never have. And just like I guarantee no ever has. Believe it or not, no one cares what you do. But feel free to be outraged about these slights that have never transpired. You’re a right wing conservative. Outrage about things that never happen is the oxygen you breathe.
@Tom:
It must be terrible to live in a country where disaffected Liberals wage a war on Christmas and support secession from the United States of America.
Guess you missed what I wrote above, that the US is way ahead of 2nd place. No, it’s an honor to be an American citizen. I wish more liberals felt that way and didn’t want to destroy the very fabric of the country, but they do and we’ll just have to live with that. Stupid can’t be fixed.
@Tom:
it’s conservatives who are always b*tching about America and fantasizing about running around in the woods with camouflage on, shooting people, because they hate the government.
give me a link to that.
@Tom:
And just like I guarantee no ever has.
Do you know the subject of this thread. Something about a school admin in Colorado telling patriotic Americans that they COULD NOT be patriotic. Never?
@Tom:
b*tching about America and fantasizing about running around in the woods with camouflage on, shooting people,
the only reference to those things at the link you provided was where you said it. I know you’re gonna be surprised, but you don’t qualify as a conservative.
@Redteam:
I wish more liberals felt that way and didn’t want to destroy the very fabric of the country, but they do and we’ll just have to live with that. Stupid can’t be fixed.
Liberals do feel that way about America. There’s only so much they can do to remedy the damage done by ignorant people such as yourself.
Do you think I average more comments a day than you?
you should try reading what others’ write.
What do you think I didn’t read? It’s not that I don’t read it, it’s that you don’t like what I say about it. You’ve spent at least an hour on this thread and apparently still don’t know that it’s about a school in Colorado telling the students they couldn’t be Americans for a day. And I don’t read it?
@Redteam:
The irony, said the students, is that they are required to participate in Cinco de Mayo celebrations. One member of the student council pointed out the hypocrisy – and noted that students were not being forced to dress in red, white and blue for “‘Merica Day.”
The students describe it as ”required.”
I also recall the May Pole celebration on May 1st in grammar school.
It was exactly like the square dances we had on rainy days…..you participated IF you wanted to.
Otherwise you watched.
We never had Cinco de Mayo in our school.
Or 4th of July (because school was in summer recess.)
But Flag Day was big.
So was Memorial Day and D-Day and Washington’s birthday and Lincoln’s birthday.
@Redteam:
Ditto, I have visited 42 foreign countries and America is far ahead of who is in second place in those 42 countries.
Your statement makes no sense. The only way to be “far ahead” of second place is to be in first place. If you think the average American student is comparably in first place, you are deluding your self. How many foreign countries you visited is irrelevant to the issue unless you were the person evaluating the test results.
You take the average child, with a good family and put him into a great school and he will learn comparably with anyone. I’ve seen that happen where every graduate from the school went to college and about 75% graduate from college. That’s not the norm for public schools, but is close on most private schools.
Which is the crux of the problem. The PISA report isn’t about what type of school is the best, it is about how the aggregate of nations students perform as a whole. Public schools are no where near matching the quality of education of private schools, which is what the results of the PISA testing indicate. It isn’t denouncing private schools at all, it is simply that when you factor in the results from our public schools, it throws off the the sample. because public school students test so poorly. The “best of the best” of our students may perhaps be number one, but that is not what is being measured here. Nor is the report meaningless as you claim.
We are agreed on National Education Association President Dennis Van Roekel, who not only wants to continue with the current pathetic educational status quo, but intends to double down by pushing Common Core which lessens the standards even further, which will end up dumbing down US children in participating school systems even more.
[NOTE: The reason I added the link was simply to show where I found the latest PISA results (which were not at all easy to find), not to indicate support for any of the commentary from those who are part of the problem.]
My kids are grown and have kids, so I only worry about my grandkids being brainwashed. I understand that homeschooling is much easier than it used to be. There are courses from the Internet now. There are even some religious based courses to choose from.
For those who think that both parents have to work to pay the bills, so neither one can stay home and homeschool their kids, there was a show on a long time ago that had families keep track of expenses, then file their tax returns the usual way, but then they filled out the same forms as if only one parent was working, and they would have more money after taxes with only one of them working. When a family totals up the extra cost of daycare, the extra expenses of a second car, and other things, the extra money earned by the other partner working just disappears.
@ilovebeeswarzone: Well said Bees.Ditto
YOU CAN COOL DOWN A FEW NOTCHES,
@Ditto:
Your statement makes no sense. The only way to be “far ahead” of second place is to be in first place.
Where it counts, we are. That is the advantage of having been to 42 foreign countries, I’ve seen the competition.
If you think the average American student is comparably in first place, you are deluding your self.
I don’t, but I know for sure that the BEST in this country are on a par or better than the BEST in other countries. No, the AVERAGE here is not comparable to first place in other countries.
The PISA report isn’t about what type of school is the best, it is about how the aggregate of nations students perform as a whole.
and that is where you get to you’re not comparing apples to apples. In Japan, you are comparing Japanese to Americans, In France, you are comparing French to Americans. In America you have anything from people that have never been to school, to people just arrived over the border to Mexico, and on and on, every race, every intelligence level. We don’t have an American, we have a member of a melting pot from the poorest to the richest. It is not apples to apples.
The “best of the best” of our students may perhaps be number one, but that is not what is being measured here.
BUT, that is who is being measured THERE, and what I’m still saying is, you are not measuring the same thing HERE that you are THERE.
It’s OK to celebrate Mexican culture, and Muslim culture, and who knows how many other cultures. I hope the parents make sure the school board fires the ones who originally banned AMERICANS CELEBRATING AMERICA, otherwise, the ones who are trying to pull the kids away from American patriotism would still be working there, and still working on the children’s minds.
The students in that Fort Collins public school are FORCED to participate in Cinco de Mayo!
Forced.
Anyway, the school is going to allow the students to have their America day this Monday.
Are the Mexican’s going to be FORCED to celebrate it to?
If one belief in how we came to be is taught, then all of the different beliefs should be taught, but it should be taught in a way that states that there are different beliefs, and some people believe one, while others believe another, and not suggest that either one is right or wrong.
I still don’t know what is meant by “Forced to participate in cinco de mayo celebration’.
@Redteam:
It was a statement by the students of the school.
Ask them.
A group of students also said that America Day participation (this Monday) is voluntary.
He might like a follow-up from some of you.
