Question: When does $70 billion equal 1.25 trillion?

Answer: In Obamaworld

“You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

– Abraham Lincoln

Unless they are Obama supporters. It turns out that you can fool all of them all of the time.

Barack Obama admits to being weak at math. On Leno he said:

“The math stuff was fine up until about seventh grade. Malia is now a freshman in high school. I’m pretty lost.”

That explains a lot.

Barack Obama claims that he was re-elected to raise taxes on the so-called “wealthy.

President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner are signaling they’re open to some compromise on a taxes and spending to prevent more financial pain in the new year, but the two sides are digging in on raising taxes for wealthier Americans. Obama said Friday that his re-election gave him a mandate to pursue that position because “the majority of Americans agree with my approach.”

His approach was and still is to lie. Or else he is plain stupid.

Obama has people believing that 70 billion equals 1.25 trillion. They believe it because he told them it does. Obama supporters do not question anything Obama says.

Yes, Obama did say 70 billion equals 1.25 trillion. He spoke with the feckless Scott Pelley during an interview for 60 minutes and he said:

“And if we go back to the tax rates for folks making more than $250,000 a year, back to the rates that we had under Bill Clinton,” he continued, “we can close the deficit, stabilize the economy, keep taxes on middle class families low, [and] provide the certainty that I think all of us would be looking for.”

In an ad Obama said

“Now Governor Romney believes that with even bigger tax cuts for the wealthy, and fewer regulations on Wall Street, all of us will prosper. In other words, he’d double down on the same trickle-down policies that led to the crisis in the first place.”

Obama went so far as to enlist Bill Clinton to lie; to say that these tax rates on the “wealthy” caused the current financial mess.

“This election to me is about which candidate is more likely to return us to full employment. This is a clear choice. The Republican plan is to cut more taxes on upper income people and go back to deregulation. That is what got us into trouble in the first place.”

It’s a lie of course. It’s so false that not even Ezra Klein believes that.

“I am absolutely not saying the Bush tax cuts led to the financial crisis. To my knowledge, there’s no evidence of that.”

Yet there it is- just undo those tax cuts for the “wealthy” and the deficit will close, the economy will stabilize and Mayan apocalypse will be avoided.

The Obama administration claimed it was talking about all of Bush’s policies, to which Glenn Kessler replied

We think that distinction would be lost on ordinary people.

Lost it was. It was lost on all Obama supporters- including Scott Pelley.

The truth?

The deficit this year is projected to be $1.25 trillion.

Repealing the Bush tax rates for the “wealthy” would net approximately $70 billion per year. That’s it.

Allowing all the Bush tax rates to expire would net approximately $380 billion per year. That begins to take a bite out of the deficit. What is obvious is that the big money comes from the 98%, not the 2% or the 1%.

And still Obama supporters think that $70 billion will erase a $1.25 trillion deficit.

Because Obama said so.

Lemmings.

RE: “Repealing the Bush tax rates for the “wealthy” would net approximately $70 billion per year. That’s it.”

Exactly. The average increase in the deficit has been $3.88B per day. Yes, that is PER DAY. Even if you accept the delusion that the package of tax increases proposed by Democrats will actually yield $70B — and it won’t come close — that will fund the deficit 18 days. That’s it.

Even if you buy into the extremely optimistic view of only $1.25T ($3.43B per day), then the absolute best-case scenario for the US is $70B / $3.43B/day = 20.47 days.

This pile of crap won’t fund the deficit for a month. Not even close. Epic fail.

It’s the spending stupid.

DrJohn
remember the devil was an angel made perfect with the power of GOD
he also can change and multiply and go forward , but he will take the SOULS OF HUMANS
THAT is what the taker will have to give in return,
nothing is free,
bye

It’s never been about the actual numbers, concerning Obama’s “plan” on taxes. Hell, it’s never been his actual “plan” to begin with. All he did was co-opt the general feelings of jealousy and envy amongst the electorate, and amplify it further. To the point that OWS was “created”, railing against the 1%, and thereby furthering a general feeling of envy and jealousy by the electorate towards the “rich”.

It’s always been about “equality” and “fairness” to liberal/progressives and their useful idiots, never about the numbers. The thing is, the definitions of “equality” and “fairness” have been rewritten by the liberal/progressives to mean simply the conditions of the end result of people’s lives.

I can already see the denials and arguments from our resident liberals and liberal/progressives on this.

You *might* have a point if this were the only issue this election were about.

@Cary:

The biggest thing that the GOP attempted to make this election about was the economy, and what to do about it.

Unfortunately for them, the Democratic party was much more successful at making the election about anything BUT the economy. From women’s “rights” to illegal immigration. From getting UBL to civil rights.

There is no doubt that Obama and his team ran an effective campaign while Romney and his team couldn’t get the traction on the economy needed to win. Obama and his team didn’t let Romney and his team “define” what Obama’s presidency has been. Whatever else can be said, that is what won the re-election for Obama.

I have already written my congressman and advised that the Republicans should vote the same as odumbo did when he was in the senate…………’present’. That would make the democrats the fall guys for whatever is passed. They own it now, and whatever is done, right or wrong, is theirs to keep.

johngalt
it was easy for OBAMA, he spend half of his term campaigning ,
instead of doing the duty of his PRESIDENCY,
he neglected all and focus on campaigning only.
while the jobless where having a hard time, and the MARKET WAS CRASHING,
who care? he went out campaigning
how come his voters did not see it?

@ilovebeeswarzone:

how come his voters did not see it?

Because too many voters believe that “if only the government were in the right hands, they are infallible”. And there are, as well, some on the right who believe that too.

The thing is, the tendency of government, any government, no matter who is in charge, is to gain power over the people. Invariably, this always leads to tyranny over the people, where freedom and liberty get turned into privilege and give-aways.

Not only will the revenue raised (using static accounting) be a drop in the bucket …using dynamic accounting, I’ll bet the negative effect on the economy will in fact reduce federal revenue and worsen the debt and deficit problem. Does anyone honestly believe meaningful gub’ment spending cuts are in the offing?

@LibertyAtStake:

Does anyone honestly believe meaningful gub’ment spending cuts are in the offing?

Only the useful idiots who just see Defense spending cuts as meaningful.

@Cary:

You *might* have a point if this were the only issue this election were about.

OK, well there’s free contraception and abortion on demand……

@drjohn:

Free contraception? Really? If I pay for my health care plan and V***a (blocked because of a bad word!) is a prescription that is issued to me… you mean I get it free?! Good news.

“Abortions on Demand” is a meaningless phrase. I won’t even go there, unless it’s to point out “Mammograms on Demand” come with it.

@johngalt:

Can’t disagree with you here.

I especially love how the last midterm elections had nothing to do with turnout, but were a “referendum on Obama’s policies” – yet now, according to the GOP pundits, the results of this election are about anything but the candidate’s platforms.

And now we hear about all of these corporations, many of whom spent millions of dollars trying to buy the election, suddenly now claim that cannot afford to keep their workers because of Obamacare, and are threatening to lay off employees because of it. Forget the fact that many of these chains already offer health insurance to their employees, they need to make a political point.

“referendum” ??? How about the fact that most of the tea party is GONE?

My point is that the GOP has nobody to blame but themselves, and as long as they keep pointing fingers, nothing will change for them.

On second thought, keep pointing fingers. The rest of us “lemmings” will keep the country moving forward…

Vorwärts, comraden!

Great Leap 2: Electric Boogaloo!

Coming soon to America, courtesy the Democrat Party and it’s impotent and enabling sidekick, the GOP.

Cary, are you looking Forward to the stench of mass graves?

Cary
you mean for what?
one thing is sure that is the RICH can give their money better themselves, and they do it all the time,
but if OBAMA WANT IT TO GIVE HIS FOREIGNER, THAT INFURIATE THE RICH, WHO EARNED THEIR MONEY, THAT’S HOW THEY BECAME RICH, SO IF ANYONE THINK THEY WILL TAKE THE MONEY WHICH IS NOT THEIR OWN, they can think twice, because the RICH will go away with their money,
OBAMA IS THE OWNER OF THE DEBT, LET HIM PAY FOR IT
FROM HIS OWN POCKET

johngalt
yes and this government beat them all in suppressing the creativity,
in imposing regulation and restriction and entitlement of all sort
to this so tolerant AMERICANS,
which has never been seen before by any leader, which lead us to believe that OBAMA HATE AMERICA SO MUCH THAT HE MAKE HER SUFFER AND WANT TO GO ON PUNISHING HER WITH ANY IDEAS COMING IN HIS SICK MIND

@Taqiyy:

And the meaningless vague hyperbole continues….

@Cary:

Free contraception? Really? If I pay for my health care plan and V***a (blocked because of a bad word!) is a prescription that is issued to me… you mean I get it free?! Good news.

You asked about issues. These are really the only issues which matter to the left. They could give a rip about the economy or national security.

Tax the rich (not because it will mean a damn, but simply to cause them some pain)
Abortion, abortion, abortion
Contraception: see Sandra Flucke

That’s it.

@Cary:

“referendum” ??? How about the fact that most of the tea party is GONE?

Not gone. Producers were and are outnumbered by consumers. This is the tipping point. Those of us who pay the taxes are now slaves to those who do not pay.

Remember Obama’s REVENGE remark?
This tax hike has zero to do with closing the deficit.
It is all about getting even with those rich old white dudes.
Even as we approach the fiscal cliff business owners are gaming how they can lower their overhead.
One thing they can do is keep employee numbers under 50.
Then ObamaCare is less relevant.
And, if that’s impossible, they can cut workers they must have down to under 28 hours a week.
That’s Obama’s new definition of part-time. 30 hours is now FULL-time!
The non-taxed minorities have no idea they are strangling the goose that fed them.
They just see free stuff in their futures and don’t look past their noses.

@drjohn:

Really? If you actually believe that those are the ONLY issues that matter to the left, you’ve not been paying much attention…. to anything beyond Rush Limbaugh. That’s okay, everything else you’ve written indicates that as well. So if “that’s it,” have a great night.

PS. Affordable isn’t free… it’s affordable. I really wish you would stop spreading misinformation.

Recall that when Obama was asked in 2008 about the possibility that an increase in the capital gains tax rates would actually cause Federal revenue to decrease, he said that was fine with him, because it was about fairness, not increased revenues. Ponder that for a moment. Recall also that his top priority after winning in 2008 was absolutely not the economy. It was passing Obamacare, taxing carbon dioxide emissions, and halting oil and gas development on Federal land. It was thousands of new regulations on business. It was doling out a 800 billion dollars to prop up public employee pension funds.

The election is over and our side lost. Obama supposedly has a mandate, and can give the opposition the back of his hand and just do whatever he pleases now. So, why are the Obama trolls still coming here? Why are they not done with us?

Well, scapegoats are going to be needed to take the blame for all the horrible crap that’s about to unfold. Imaginary sabotage by class enemies must be invoked to explain the failures of the system. The scapegoating is not a simple matter of what’s good for the Democratic Party. No, it’s about the peace of mind of the drones who helped finalize this economic disaster. They must believe that they didn’t really work for their own destruction at the feet of a President and party that do not really care about them and no longer need to pretend to care about them.

The layoffs and economic contraction are just getting started, trolls. By all means keep comforting yourselves with the absurd story that the private sector cutbacks are anti-Obama sabotage and mere cheap publicity stunts rather than the easily predictable outcome of a major change in the regulatory and economic outlook. Obamacare mandates and fees are coming. Taxes are going up. Energy prices are going to skyrocket as promised. The electric grid will experience brownouts as coal plants are forced to close without replacements in place. Inflation is shooting up. The avalanche of pettifogging regulations will continue to grow. We can expect to be tested and attacked by our international adversaries, and that’s not good for business.

Is Obama going to pay for your gas and your mortgage? Is he going to extend your unemployment benefits? Not so much. He won. He doesn’t need you anymore.

@Wm T Sherman:

I’ve been coming to this site for many years. Troll? Okay, you keep the finger pointing as I said in a previous comment. Don’t let me interrupt your paranoid tantrum and delusions of the upcoming apocalypse. Carry on…

@Cary:

Really? If you actually believe that those are the ONLY issues that matter to the left, you’ve not been paying much attention

Polls said that Romney was more trusted with the economy.

It was the penny ante issues that got Obama elected. it was small ball, and it was Romney trying to be a moderate instead of a conservative. Obama was a rabid liberal and he got his base fired up- once again expecting him to furnish them a living as he did the first time.

Liberals are particularly stupid.

Liberals are particularly stupid.

You win.

Cary:

I was referring to multiple sites and to multiple persons posting, not just one. A general phenomenon. We lost, but instead of ignoring us, the opposition hates us worse than ever. For some reason you thought I was talking about you. If you would like to be included in that characterization, be my guest. I have scarcely seen you here. If you come once or twice a year then you have not “been coming here for years.” you have been coming once in a great while when you feel you have a reason, such as the victory of your messiah. In fact it was dishonest of you to claim to be a regular.

Your argument is not with me. It is with the Gods of the Copybook Headings. Whatever empty accusations you hurl will not change that, no matter how good it makes you feel for a short while.

@Wm T Sherman:

Think whatever you’d like, if it somehow makes you feel better. I come as often as I can, and I’ve been here quite a bit. Perhaps less now than I used to, because of a busy life, but still frequently. I’m not going to sit here defending myself over a pointless argument. When Curt asks me not to post, that’s when I’ll stop.

Cary:

I didn’t ask you to stop. That is your invention.

@Wm T Sherman:

Thanks for clearing that up. I look forward to a productive discussion in the future with you.

Wm T Sherman
you are right, we see a big traffic of the regular libs which have increase their visits
only after they won the election,
and all the CONSERVATIVES HERE CAN ATTEST TO IT
IT STARTED AS SOON AS THE ELECTION WAS CALL,
YES CARY IT’S TRUE.

@ilovebeeswarzone:

Bees,

You know full well I was here before the election. I have periods when I’m here more often and periods when I’m around less… but you know exactly who I am! I don’t know about any others you may be referring to, but you know I’m not new here. This is a pointless argument that distracts from the actual topic, so this is my last comment on this thread.

DrJohn,

His approach was and still is to lie. Or else he is plain stupid.

No longer in doubt, . . . it’s both.

@Wm T Sherman: #24,

scapegoats are going to be needed to take the blame for all the horrible crap that’s about to unfold. . . . . . He doesn’t need you anymore.

Rather prescient.

Wall Street now owns the White House and The Bernanke is guaranteeing more billion dollar bonuses, meanwhile, small and medium businesses are going to hurt badly. Large businesses who didn’t support Obama will regret it. This Administration has already begun its revenge on whoever didn’t support it.

Obama today pretends to “invite” business leaders for a meeting. Guaranteed no one will say a single word which can be construed as negative. This Administration has already proven it is vindictive, . . . just ask any business owner for truth, and now with a second term, a shitstorm is coming from this Oval office. It hates business, and hates capitalism.

CARY
I know you where here since many years,I was not saying it that way,
WHAT I notice is that as soon as the election was called the ones who
come on a regular time, all converse here at an increase time,
it was a remark not to insult, just noticeble
it just happen strange but real,
don’t be offended , it was notice by a few,
and why is it? we just trying to find out,
don’t take it wrong, you have your friend here outside of politic face up.
bye

@ilovebeeswarzone:

Thanks Bees. 🙂

I think we’re going to see a reduction in efficacy of the news-entertainment political complex (as David Frum calls it), like this one and many others. If they don’t start to deal with the facts, and offering some real solutions—rather than the same old drivel—then they’re readership and listenership is going to decline and be further relegated to the darkest reaching of the extremist wing of the hyper-conservative party.

@Nan G: How much free stuff have you taken? It seem to recall you saying that there was a time when you took food stamps. I’m sure plenty of free stuff has gone around the people on this site.

@johngalt: Romney couldn’t get traction because he really didn’t have a plan—other that going back to the previous administration’s plan (which caused this problem in the first place). Women’s rights and immigration are actually part of an economic plan. For example, if a woman’s right to equal pay with men for equal work were enforced—which Romney did not support—it would raise the tax base of women.

LIBERAL1
WHAT IS THE OBAMA PLAN? tell us lad,
MITT ROMNEY’s plan WAS SIMPLE for all to understand,
including the LATINOS WHO WANT TO IMPROVE THEIR LIFE,
THAT IS, BRING THE COMPANIES BACK TO THE USA,
and instead of sinking them with regulations ,
he would encourage the creation of good paying jobs that last a life time,
not those OBAMA HALF jOBS OR THOSE COMPANIES WHO BANKRUPT RIGHT AFTER THEY GET THE BILLIONS FROM THE TAXPAYER’S POCKETS
do you get it now?

@Liberal1 (Objectivity):

More of the same. Your side won, you say we’re irrelevant, but you come here anyway. A lot.

That roaring sound in the background is the floodwaters rising. You are ecstatic at playing a tiny part in the dam break, but do not connect the one with the other. Every moment you spend shouting at us contemptuously for our failed attempts to hold the dam together for a while longer is a moment spent not hearing the approaching flood. Bask in the afterglow while you can. Again: Your messiah will not save you. He doesn’t need you anymore.

I doubt rasing taxes on the “waelthy” will raise 70 billion. Such projections are usually much too high.

@Liberal1 (Objectivity):

You provided the same soundbite material that won the election for Obama, including the soundbite about the “previous administration”. Congratulations.

I gave credit to Obama for running a more effective campaign. He did. Can’t deny it.

The problem with your statements is the same, though, that Obama had when he used them. Romney DID, in fact, have a “plan”. What is Obama’s plan? Give more “stuff” away for free and sell it to the people that the “rich” will pay for it? Some plan. Might as well call us Greece right now.

Cary Thanks for all you did for those affected by Sandy in N.Y. Yours is a great story and I for one always appreciated your input. THANKS AGAIN

I just heard a good one from JAE LENO; I CAN’T UNDERSTAND THIS,
THEY ALL TALK ABOUT THE CLIFF, THAT IS IN ALL THE NEWS,
AND WE HAVE A PRESIDENT WHO WAS ELECTED FOR GOING FORWARD,

The democrats didn’t have to fool all of the people all of the time, they just had to fool enough to get reelected, and they did.

I think I’ve figured out how Obama turns 70 billion into 1.25 trillion. First he ordains that the Treasury lay 70 billion at his feet (to be later repaid with taxes on the 1%). Obama has the 70 billion converted to gold then calls the Federal Reserve. Bernanke calls up the Government Mint and orders them to print and deliver 1.25 trillion in new bills. Obama gives Bernanke the gold, Bernanke gives Obama the fresh new bills. “Wink, wink. Nod, nod.”

They both smile and announce “Voila!!!”

Obama then passes an executive order essentially saying “Quick give this 1.25 trillion to the Chinese for pay on the debt and ask them for another loan for double that.” He then calls Harry Reid so that they can deem even more entitlement spending. The two of them call the MSM and announce that they’ve reduced the debt.

When the public learns about the new debt, the Dems blame it on Bush.

@Richard Wheeler:

Thanks, Richard. I appreciate that.

about JAY LENO, QUOTE,
if OBAMA GOES FORWARD FALLING IN THE FISCAL CLIFF,
DOES THE LEMMINGS WILL ALL FOLLOW HIM IN THERE DOWN BELOW,
AS IT’S PROPER TO DO IN NATURE, WITH THEIR CONTERPART?
JUST WONDERING. IF THEY ALL FOLLOW,
HE WILL BE BURIED UNDER WITH TONS AND TONS OF LEMMINGS

@ilovebeeswarzone:

In nature lemmings don’t normally latch onto all the other creatures and drag them over the cliff too.
