General Petraeus: It Wasn’t Me Or Anyone Else At The CIA

Too Little Too Late

Apparently, no one at the CIA signed off on saving the lives of our diplomats in Benghazi. Now, that leaves just one other guy and he has a major problem with the truth. President Obama had no problem claiming responsibility for launching the attack to kill Bin Ladin from a golf course, but owning up to the truth about the death of four Americans in Benghazi is another matter entirely.

General Petraeus, Director of the CIA, has stated categorically that neither he nor anyone else at the CIA denied the requests for help from our former SEALs who were fighting to save the lives of over thirty Americans at the consulate in Benghazi. From an official spokesman of the CIA:

“No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to

the contrary are simply inaccurate. ”

Too Little Too Late

Unfortunately, General Petraeus, by maintaining his silence, has participated in the presidential coverup of the Benghazi assault for six weeks. It is unfortunate for Petraeus to end his career with this tragedy, but when you participate in a coverup, you are as guilty as the perpetrator: it is time for Petraeus to resign. An officer who compromises his honor, in the guise of political loyalties will be considered to be without honor, if he decides not to resign.

Dithering:nervous indecisiveness: nervously confused indecisiveness in the face of alternative possible actions.

Our president's notorious proclivity for dithering has cost the lives of an ambassador, a diplomatic aide, and two heroes. The president's overwhelming grief over his responsibility for allowing this tragedy to take place was to attend a celebrity fundraiser in Las Vegas and party with Beyonce and Jay-Z. The president managed a pretense of hilarity and gaiety as he and Jay-Z cavorted around an ostentatious display of champagne.

Since the president falsely claimed a video was responsible for the attack and murders, the honor and integrity of President Obama is not in question; however, now that Americans have died unnecessarily in the service of their country after pleading for help from our government three times, America wants and expects honesty and integrity from the Commander in Chief.

Next time someone is drowning in a pool, you’ll need several hours to assess the situation and then another day or two to decide what is best. In the meantime, the person that drowned is dead.

We will not forget that Obama had the opportunity to show his metal. Obama showed his worst, is the worst kind of rat, and does not deserve to be in the position of responsibility he has abdicated.

@retire05, #48:

Now, it does seem a little odd that we have conflicting stories from Panetta, who claimed Ham signed off on the plan to NOT send in reinforcements, yet Ham tells Jason Chaffez that he was never consulted on that decision.

Have you got a reference to any statement confirming that’s what General Ham told Representative Chaffez? Because Chaffez is a republican politician who is decidedly hostile to the President, and one who might also have some small interest in seeing a fellow Mormon replacing him in the White House.

I will go easy on Petraeus. He turned the war in Iraq around. Whenever a general turns the tide in a war, ie. Grant in the CW, Patton in North Africa, Ridgeway in Korea, they go down as one of our successful generals. Before history gets too far revised here, it was the dems and the left who referred to him as General Betrayus. Any attempts by them to try and stick up for him now is really an attempt to stick up for Obama. By stating no one in the CIA denied a QRF, it throws the decision onto the WH or DoD. When you think about it, he put Obama on the spot even more to own up to what happened. He could have come out and been very blatant about it, but normally folks in that type of position avoid public confrontation with the WH. Powell disagreed with the Bush administration yet he kept his mouth shut until after he was SoS. I don’t think Gen P did the WH any favors with his statement. The only thing he could have done more damaging would have been to call bullshit on Obama and step down.

@another vet, #54:

You apparently heard some entirely different statement from General Colin Powell concerning his opinions regarding Barack Obama and Mitt Romney than anyone else did.

To catch a wild animal, study its behavior carefully before setting the trap. Chances of success increase exponentially.

Can I prove that General Ham told Jason Chaffez what Chaffez reported on Greta Van Sustern’s show? No, no more than you can prove the claims now being made by the White House that the president didn’t order the former SEALs to stand down. Yet, if you were to admit reality, you would admit than only the president has the authority to make that call. But you won’t; no, you won’t, Greggie, because you are so deep in the tank for this corrupt administration that you will never be able to pull your head out of your ass. Permanent analcranial disorder is what you suffer from.

And surprise, surprise, you accuse Chaffez of nefarious reasons because (hold on, wait for it) religious reasons. Obviously, you apply no such nefarious deception to Harry Reid, also a Morman, although one who seems to have no problem with shady deals in real estate.

Poor blind Greggie, your powers of reason have eluded you. You can only think the worst of anyone who is to the right of Obama. But never would you accept that it was the President, and only the President, who held the power to withhold aid to our FSO in Benghazi. Every dictator in the world has depended on useful idiots like you, Greggie. Without people like you, they could never come to power.

I feel sorry for you, Greggie; you have a very dark soul.

@Skook:

I can tell you how to trap feral hogs. It takes a few days, and it is done slowly. It is the same way that politicians like Obama trap people like Greggie.

@Greg: Where did I make any reference to Powell and anything he said about the race between Obama and Romney? I said that Powell while SoS never said anything publicly against the Bush administration even though it was pretty well known he didn’t agree with Cheney or Rumsfeld. Please cite where Powell came out and publicly disagreed with anyone in the Bush administration while he was SoS. How you managed to inject Romney into what I said is beyond me.

@Skook:

I don’t like to set myself up as a seer, but when the general took the position with this administration, I thought to myself, this is not going to go well for this man, but that matters less than a hill of beans.

We are on the same sheet of music with that one. I always felt he would be used as a means to an end for this administration. The most obvious role for him would have been as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. Hopefully whatever comes of this won’t tarnish his stellar career.

I concur about Nixon and Clinton. The only difference between them and the current lair is that they actually had somewhat successful presidencies. Nixon had quite a few foreign policy and domestic policy successes. Clinton, for all his faults, was more fiscally responsible than our last two Presidents. Even though he had help from the Republican congress and the peace dividend compliments of Reagan, I still give him some credit.

As for the truth about Libya, don’t hold your breath. We still don’t have the truth about the intel leaks and how many months ago were those “investigators” appointed?

I have nothing against Mormons. All the Mormons I have personally known have seemed like perfectly good people–better than average, in many ways. I am, however, admittedly uncomfortable with idea that a president of the United States would believe that a living human being–presently, Thomas S. Monson–is quite literally a Prophet of God, and–as a Temple Mormon–would have sworn an oath of allegiance to his church. Temple Mormons must formally reaffirm their belief that the current Prophet is the Seer and Revelator of God each year to renew their Temple Recommend.

So, does it bother you to think that a Commander in Chief might be subject to the authority of the President of the Church, who he apparently sincerely believes has the power to reveal the will of God? Is this the same as wondering about JFK and the Pope, or is it something different? I don’t believe it’s a case of religious prejudice to wonder about that.

Whatever. If they play “If You Could Hie to Kolob” during inauguration ceremonies next January, don’t say you weren’t warned.

My chief reason for distrusting anything Chaffez says at this point is because he’s a right-wing republican. Mormon or no, they openly admitted shortly after Obama’s election that their primary concern and objective–even with the nation’s economy in shambles–was to get rid of him. I’ve always taken them at their word on that, and at no point have they done anything to suggest otherwise.

If there were truth to your conspiracy theory about Republicans ruining the economy to cost Obama the election…. Ohio should be a basket case.
Gov. Kasich’s model of economic recovery there makes Obama look good!
Bi-partisanship is the order of the day in Ohio!
Ohio’s unemployment rate ticked down to 7 percent last month — its lowest in four years — after three consecutive months of holding steady at 7.2 percent.
It remains below the national rate of 7.8 percent.

Ohio has 18 electoral votes, seventh most in the nation, and no Republican has won the White House without carrying it.

How’s this for ”conspiracy?”

Obama supporters have pointed to his administration’s auto bailout as a reason for Ohio’s unemployment rate being below the national average.

House Speaker John Boehner, who is from the Cincinnati area, has noted the political predicament in his home state. He’s said that Kasich’s success fixing government regulations and attracting new businesses as governor may be working against Romney in Ohio.

“I don’t even like this discussion,” Kasich added. “People are going to work and I’m happy about it. Let the chips fall where they may.”

@Greg:

Greggie, the fact that Romney is a Morman holds no more importance for me than Kennedy being a Catholic or Nixon being a Quaker or Jefferson being a Unitarian. And for you to even make it an issue, as the Obama campaign has tried to do, is simply you parrotting the Obama campaign’s bigotry against someone who does not belong to a main stream Christian faith. It is disgusting and I do not remember you making any such objections when Obama said that the Muslim call to prayer was the most beautiful sound in the world.

And so what if an elected official stated that they intended to help rid this nation of a man who is the most unqualified, left leaning, shady character to ever occupy the Oval Office. It is the same vow I made on election night in Nov., 2008. You don’t abdicate your rights as a U.S. citizen when you take public office, nor do you abdicate your First Amendment rights, although you on the left would most certainly like to curtail them, for all of us.

You contineu to sink into the mire, now playing the “religion” card while your fellow progressives play the “race” card. You on the left have those cards so worn that have lost their value, yet you are too dimwitted to realize that. As I said before, your soul is very, very dark.

@Skook:

Obama is arming the Syrian rebels. Ayman al Zawahri just came out in support of the Syrian rebels. Seems Al Qaeda and our president are on the same page.

@Skook: We will eventually get to the truth on this matter. With only 10 days until election the way the polls are shaping up, barring any unforeseen circumstances, there is a real possibility that Obama will be a one termer. Should he lose, there will be lots of finger pointing as to why and the bungling of the Benghazi terrorist attack will no doubt figure into it. People will most likely start throwing each other under the bus in order to salvage their reputations. Once that happens, we will find out who knew what and when and who the decision makers were.

Retire:

Obama is arming the Syrian rebels. Ayman al Zawahri just came out in support of the Syrian rebels. Seems Al Qaeda and our president are on the same page.

There is a proverb in the ME “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” It is logical, but Americans can take a dim view of a president running arms to our enemies; especially, when those same arms mill probably be turned on our own troops in the near future.

I think some guys will be going to prison over this. It is a little more serious than Scooter outing a seat warmer at the CIA or lying about BJs in the Oval Office. I will be on this like a pit bull until they cut off my computer or put the rifle barrel next to my head. I don’t like the idea of arming the enemy to kill more American troops.

We will be trading a tyrant for a Muslim Fundamentalist who wants to spread terror in the world, quite a trade off. Again we are left wondering what side our president is actually on. Oh and being that Valerie is an Iranian proxy, could that be why she didn’t give Obama the go-ahead to light up the terrorists at Benghazi.

This is starting to smell worse than before, the more we learn the worse it gets.

SKOOKUM
HI,
the more we learn the more it get, the enemy of my enemy is my friend,
how about me going further, we know Obama was pissed of with the SEALS WRITING A BOOK AND TELLING HIM TO SHUT UP, because he was making them in dangerous situations,
and A SEAL IN ARMS WAY IS ASKING AGAIN AND AGAIN FOR HELP SUPPORT, EVEN FOLLOWING DEMANDS FROM THE AMBASSADOR FOR SUPPORT.
what if he thought the enemy of my enemy is my friend, there is my chance to give them a lesson.
don’t bother me, I don’t want nothing to do with THE SEALS, THAT WILL TEACH THEM NOT TO MESS WITH ME AND MY RE-ELECTION, I HAVE THE ONLY POWER AND THEY WILL REMEMBER

Bees, these men were former SEALs. I doubt whether the president was aware of their status, except as CIA operatives with guts and honor. I suspect these traits are foreign to Obama.

Most former military men feel a profound sadness at the loss of these heroic men who stood up to tyranny, unlike many of our leaders who deserted them. This is a disgrace and stain upon America, that will not be forgotten. Whether it was cowardice on the part of our executive or misplaced loyalties will be determined relatively soon, not many of us are content to sit back and be spoon fed lies over this tragedy.

SKOOKUM
yes, of course, but by not answering questions to the PEOPLE, LOOKING TO UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WHERE LEFT TO DIE ALONE WHEN THEIR COUNTRY HOLD THE MIGHT AND ASSETS TO GIVE THEM THE SUPPORT THEY PRESS BEFORE AND AFTER IN EXTREMIST,
WE ARE LEFT TO THINK ANYTHING MILD OR TO THE WORST, BECAUSE THERE ARE NOTHING TO BLOCK OUR PROBING FOR THE TRUTH AND AS YOU SAY, IT GET DEEPER IN OUR MIND AS WELL THE LONGER
IT STALL.

THAT’S WHY HE WILL NOT BE A WINNER, HE DID IT TO HIMSELF. the only one voting for him are those not informed of how far he will go in the gutter to get the votes, nothing will stand in his way,

Our enemy was certainly following that admonition while there were plenty of Americans to target.
Al Qaeda leader (Zawahiri) wrote to Iraq al Qaeda leader (the LATE Zakiri) that they should STOP all sectarian violence and band together against the ”great Satan, America.”
LATER, he wrote, they would go after all alternate forms of Islam that are not in line with al Qaeda’s version of Shariah.
But, we see that sectarian bombings in al Qaeda/Taliban territory is on the rise.
And, yes, they use the very same weapons they once used on us!
So, we might sell to our tentative/temporary allies, but with tracking devices, like Fast and Furious was supposed to do.
Later, we can target their weapons’ stores via those tracking devices.

Nan G
OBAMA said: WE HAVE GONE TOO FAR TO STOP,
YES OBAMA YOU HAVE GONE TOO FAR TO HOLD YOUR SECRET ABOUT YOU ARE GUILTY OF THE DEATH OF THE HERO LEFT ALONE TO DIE WHILE YOU WHERE WATCHING THE VIDEO PLAY UNRAVELING THEIR COMBAT TO THE END OF THEIR LIVES,
TELL THAT TO THE WORLD WAITING, TELL IT TO YOUR SUPPORTERS, IF YOU HAVE THE GUTS LEFT IN YOU.

@retire05, #68:

Greggie, the fact that Romney is a Morman holds no more importance for me than Kennedy being a Catholic or Nixon being a Quaker or Jefferson being a Unitarian.

Of course it doesn’t. The conservative passion for religious tolerance is well known. Particularly with regard to Islam.

A devout Temple Mormon’s first allegiance is to the LDS Kingdom of God, whose current head is literally believed to be a latter day prophet of God. It’s not Mormon beliefs that I’m uncomfortable with, so much as the thought that an American president would recognize some higher earthly authority.

If people are comfortable with that, fine. In all honesty, I’m not yet entirely comfortable.

BTW, have you ever heard of David Twede? He’s a Mormon who has stated he was recently threatened with excommunication–after writing political articles critical of Mitt Romney.

@Greg: I’m still waiting on your proof that Romney cheated on his taxes as Reid stated on the floor of the Senate. How’s that coming along?? Of all people to demand the truth you are the least worthy. You have made false accusation after false accusation on this site and when confronted with a request for proof you never-never comply. Crawl back in your hole.

@ilovebeeswarzone: Poor Greegie is getting more and more desperate!!

As usual, the ultra-right-wing turns on one of their heroes (David Patraeus)—eats their dead so that there is no further evidences of them—when his statement of fact disagrees with their opinion.

Sunrise, thanks for the link, we are learning more and more about our military, CIA, and diplomatic protocol; it is also becoming overwhelmingly obvious that our president or his puppeteer froze at the switch or had other reasons to let our country be attacked and let our men die.

The reasons as to Why our President refuses to protect Americans is now wide open and fast becoming an issue of possible treason; who can blame the public from wondering whether the attackers were actually Iranians and Jarrett was behind the attack, the conspiracies and possibilities are limitless, but nothing can detract from the fact that our president refused to protect our diplomatic personnel and America wants to know Why.

Petraous’ statement of fact confirms our suspicions: the president either froze or refused to protect our diplomatic mission in Benghazi. His reluctance to come forward with the truth and let the president deflect blame for six weeks by blaming his department is his shame and what he must live down.

@Greg:

It’s not Mormon beliefs that I’m uncomfortable with, so much as the thought that an American president would recognize some higher earthly authority.

I’m wondering, do you mean like when a President BOWS to the leader of another country?

Or perhaps one that is mentored by an avowed Communist, Frank Marshall Davis? Befriended by Bill Ayers & Bernadine Dorn? Nurtured by Jeremiah Wright? And sponsored by George Soros?

That’s a pretty notorious bunch, that your Coward-In-Chief answers to (perhaps), no?

You’d have to be mighty hypocritical not to point the same accusations toward Obama, or fail to conclude that Romney looks very good in that comparative light.

@Nan G:

Nan, good point, but one not-quite-minor clarification…

So, we might sell to our tentative/temporary allies, but with tracking devices, like Fast and Furious was supposed to do.

The predecessor of Fast & Furious, Operation Wide Receiver, had American guns with tracking devices embedded in them. That was a program began (and eventually scrapped) under Dubya’s watch.

The point of F&F was NEVER to track those weapons, but to simply get them into the hands of Mexican criminals, and have them “discovered” at the scenes of drug cartel violence.

Operation Fast & Furious should never be thought of as a “failure” or botched operation. It did exactly what it was designed (by Holder & Obama) to do, which includes killing Mexican civilians and American Law Enforcement personnel.

The only thing that was botched, from Obama’s perspective, would be the lack of complicity by those ATF whistleblowers.

you got it right,
there is nothing wrong to show the respect to one selected as the chief holding the responsible rank
in any religion, which is normaly a wise person who earned the rank by having wisdom to lead and inspire the believer in GODLY SPIRIT.
and the young who has been following the teaching of the 10 commands are having a greater advantage to not get in trouble when they reach the teen ages where if they are left alone are able to say no to corruption
tempting them on all sides, bombarding them with so much wrong to get them to fall in false friends, as they grow up to adult ages they have more likely conquer their soul and have acquire the good solid ability to have a judgement clear and wise and balance, making them the best leader one country the size of AMERICA IS DESERVING TO HAVE SERVING THE PEOPLE WITH HUMILITY ALONG GRANDIOSE VISIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF ALL,
VISIONS TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE THING WORK AND TO PROMOTE AND APPLAUD THOSE WITH IDEAS TO CREATE FOR ALL TO PROFIT, AND GROW IN HARMONY WITH THEIR POSITION AS GREAT AS IT COULD BE, AND AS POOR AS THEY ARE BUT WITH ALWAYS THE HOPE TO REACH THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN
WHICH IS GIVEN TO ALL, WITHOUT ENVY FOR OTHER RICHER THAN THEY MIGHT BE,

Greg, First of all, thank you for the respect that you show for my religion and my fellow believers. In reference to your statement;
“A devout Temple Mormon’s first allegiance is to the LDS Kingdom of God, whose current head is literally believed to be a latter day prophet of God. It’s not Mormon beliefs that I’m uncomfortable with, so much as the thought that an American president would recognize some higher earthly authority. “,
The Mormon leadership does not (generally) get involved in politics, save where politics touch upon Church affairs.
There is no possibility that the Church leadership would in any way attempt to play puppetmaster should Mitt Romney be elected as President.
The only influence that the Mormon religion would have on a President Romney is the influence that it has had in shaping his moral certainties and character .
Hope this helps.

@Greg:
“Of course it doesn’t. The conservative passion for religious tolerance is well known. Particularly with regard to Islam. ”

That’s right, we feel no tolerance whatsoever for any religion that has death, violence, intolerance, bigotry and hatred built into it’s foundation, written in the words of it’s prophet, and acts on those beliefs every day whether it be Islam, Catholicism, or Bahai.
Yes, most religions have had violent eras in their pasts. They’ve stopped, Islam hasn’t.

Just because he was a Roman Catholic.
What’s the worst that could happen?
A president Romney might encourage all families to store a years’ worth of food supplies?
Might not be such a bad thing.

It’s sad that this blog has been turned into a site where a contrarian minority can’t debate issues without being subject to viciously personal attack from certain members of the majority, who appear to relish cyber-bullying.

Who needs this s—? I’ve been active on this blog for more than 4 years, and I’ve never seen it close to being this bad. If some drive by liberal comes here and starts shooting his mouth off about Bush being a fascist or Republicans being troglodytes or whatever, then those people deserve to be treated in kind, but that’s not what is happening here. People politely express an honest difference of opinion, using respectful language, and they get pelted with tomatoes.

Do people really want Flopping Aces to be an exclusive social club for people who think exactly alike? I mean, if that’s what it’s supposed to be, why not post a “mission statement” right below the masthead; so that the unwelcome can look elsewhere for challenging discourse?

@openid.aol.com/runnswim:

You cannot know how ironic/hypocritical I find your comments. For 50 years, you on the left have been bashing, smearing, denigrading, mocking, and lying about the conservatives/Republicans in this nation. You have applied Saul Alinsky’s rules as if they were put on steroids. And for all those years, Republicans played offense, not really adopting the same tactics of the left.

In the late ’90’s, we saw the advent of the blogging world, almost exclusively on the left side of the aisle. DailyKos made its debut in 2002, with a clear mission statement of “dispelling” every conservative point. HuffingtonPost, which you seem to read with frequency, debuted in 2004, which seems to be one of those “social clubs for people who think exactly alike. The left cornered the website reading audience. It has only been in the last 6-8 years that conservatives have taken to the internet to counter what was basically left wing controlled media source. Perhaps if HuffingtonPost and DailyKos would have allowed the voices of those who disagree with them to stand, instead of banning those posters, you would have a better argument. But that was never their goal, was it, Larry?

So now you feign shock that after all these years, conservatives have decided that trying to play by our rules, while allowing the left to play by theirs, doesn’t work. We have studied the enemy (you) and know that the only way to end the vitriol is to deal it right back to you, in spades. I, and millions of Americans, are no longer going to let the left play school yard bully without picking up a brick and slamming you with it. The days of cowering conservatives fearful of being labeled a racist, a homophobe, an Islamophobe, haters of women and children, has come to a screeching end. You have worn out the cards. It’s a new game with a new deck.

I noticed you did not request of your liberal friends to stop their lies about conservatives/Republicans. You simply directed your ire at those who have decided to fight back. Nor did you accept the truth that our current president has done more to divide this nation than any president in modern history, going all the way back to Woodrow Wilson, who was truely evil. You want comity? Start encouraging your fellow leftist, not complaining about others. Of course, I am sure you will say that your complaints were generic, but any rational thinking person knows that is just more b/s. I also remember how the left demanded more civility in the public debate when Gabby Giffords was shot. Remind me again how long that lasted before Obama started bashing Republicans?

And while I am at it: have you seen the new Michael Moore commercial against Republicans? It is one of the most vile, disgusting videos, exceeding the “First Time” ad in trash factor. That is the party you support. Remember that while you demand civility.
