Apparently, no one at the CIA signed off on saving the lives of our diplomats in Benghazi. Now, that leaves just one other guy and he has a major problem with the truth. President Obama had no problem claiming responsibility for launching the attack to kill Bin Ladin from a golf course, but owning up to the truth about the death of four Americans in Benghazi is another matter entirely.
General Petraeus, Director of the CIA, has stated categorically that neither he nor anyone else at the CIA denied the requests for help from our former SEALs who were fighting to save the lives of over thirty Americans at the consulate in Benghazi. From an official spokesman of the CIA:
“No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to
the contrary are simply inaccurate. ”
Too Little Too Late
Unfortunately, General Petraeus, by maintaining his silence, has participated in the presidential coverup of the Benghazi assault for six weeks. It is unfortunate for Petraeus to end his career with this tragedy, but when you participate in a coverup, you are as guilty as the perpetrator: it is time for Petraeus to resign. An officer who compromises his honor, in the guise of political loyalties will be considered to be without honor, if he decides not to resign.
Dithering:nervous indecisiveness: nervously confused indecisiveness in the face of alternative possible actions.
Our president's notorious proclivity for dithering has cost the lives of an ambassador, a diplomatic aide, and two heroes. The president's overwhelming grief over his responsibility for allowing this tragedy to take place was to attend a celebrity fundraiser in Las Vegas and party with Beyonce and Jay-Z. The president managed a pretense of hilarity and gaiety as he and Jay-Z cavorted around an ostentatious display of champagne.
Since the president falsely claimed a video was responsible for the attack and murders, the honor and integrity of President Obama is not in question; however, now that Americans have died unnecessarily in the service of their country after pleading for help from our government three times, America wants and expects honesty and integrity from the Commander in Chief.
A professional horseman for over 50 years, Skook continues to work with horses. Skook has finished an historical novel, Fifty Thousand Years, that traces a mitochondrial line of DNA from 50,000 years ago to the present. The story follows a line of courageous women, from the Ice Ages to the present, as they meet the challenges of survival with grit and creativity. These are not women who whimper of being victims, they meet the challenges of survival as women who use their abilities without excuses or remorse, these women are winners, they are our ancestors.
Fifty Thousand Years is available in paperback and e-book, it is getting great reviews. You can purchase a copy here; Visit me on Facebook.

It was Obama who gave the order to stand down and not offer the Benghazi embassy help.
Who else stood to gain from the politics? Now Obama is sliding downward. People have their answer about what a SLIME Obama truly is.
If you had asked if Obama was a Muslim; you got your answer. No red-blooded American or Christian would even wait to help his/her fellow Americans/Christians.
Vote Romney/Ryan 2012. A new President Romney.
Unfortunately I doubt this will have any impact at all on Obama voters.
Based on the last 4 years I don’t think this administration could do anything hideous enough that liberals might switch their votes to a candidate other than Obama, they are simply in that deep and any wrong doing is overlooked.
I’m certainly not a huge fan of Romney, and honestly the only way he was able to secure my support was by picking Paul Ryan, but I still have the ability to recognize when somebody is doing a piss poor job and this admin is without a doubt morally and intellectually bankrupt.
If we look at the Osama order we see that Valerie Jarrett is the real foot dragger on doing anything against Islamic terrorists, even if their name is Osama bin Ladin!
Obama is a ditherer, that is for sure.
But he defers to Valerie, Michelle’s best friend and the only source of either Michelle’s or Obama’s jobs before they hit the White House.
How did others get a kill order from Obama in the Osama case when Valerie had three times said NO?
Apparently Hillary threatened to go public with his dithering causing Osama to slip away…..again (and Hillary knows because Bill did the same thing!)
There wasn’t time for that level of gambit during the Benghazi disaster.
People were under fire….OUR people.
Obama had to make a decision.
He proved once again that he doesn’t know how to do that.
Someone has to go under the bus in this instance.
It can’t be Petraeus.
Gen. Ham (of the African command) has said Panetta is lying if he claimed he pinned his order to do nothing on Ham.
Hillary’s mea culpa was a blame me BUT I didn’t do it, so don’t fire me.
That leaves Panetta or Obama.
Nan: Apparently a C-130 was overhead or the spotter on the roof of the CIA would not have sighted in the mortar battery with a laser. The C-130 can literally unleash holy hell with pin point accuracy, we are talking about a target the size of an outhouse hole or every square foot of a football field in a matter of seconds.
It is time to start impeachment.
Yesterday, the Clown in Chief when asked a question about Benghazi stated “This election is not about Benghazi” “It is about Trust” in another statement. Well, Skook, he is wrong! It is about Benghazi as well as “Fast and Furious, the lies as to the job numbers, the lies as to the economic recovery and on and on.
In our lifetimes I cannot remember any political party, administration or member of the U.S. propaganda industry known as the MSM so openly lying to the electorate! Yet even now the lies continue unabated! How can this be? Is the elctorate really now that brain dead and at the point that they believe the big lie as Goebbels and others said they would?
Those of you who follow this site know I pretty much hold most politicians in disdain, especially when it comes to “stretching the truth”. Still, I can’t remember anything like this. And as usual, the coverup is always worse that the initial screw up. But in my memory, I can’t remember people getting killed in the other instances as in this case and the Fast and Furious fiasco.
A while ago I penned the following in regards to the tea party that really seems apt here as I follow it with a question.
“For those of you who prefer to live in a cave, the Tea Party from my view is not just about returning to conservative principles. The people who are aligning themselves behind this movement are looking for so much more. We are looking for men and women of principle! We want representatives that obey the will of the people, not their leaders or their own power lust! We want a return to the bedrock principles this country was founded on!”
As one looks at the last 3 sentences above, I have to ask the following. Is the American electorate either completely numb to the lies or ignorant? Is it now accepted by the public that lies are truth, that in fact there are not any more honorable people in government so we can in fact live with the lies? This in fact could be the most important question facing us in this coming election.
Openly blatant lies by our officials that are proven as such yet such a high percentage of the electorate that choose to believe it! A percentage that apparently no longer believes in the basic principles of not only our country but in fact basic moral principle we all should live by! Where are the men and women of honor if no where else that in the supposed profession of the press, you know, the Watchdogs?
In the Lybia case, officials from the highest levels of government have lied to their employers, the American Citizens. Yet this clown speaks yesterday of TRUST! Throwing folks under the bus (and I wish Patreus had stated the obvious sooner) isn’t the answer.
The answer is an electorate that somehow once again take pride in their country and it’s bedrock principles and in fact cleans house come election day. anything short of that can and probably will bring the end of the Great Experiment (Franklin, wasn’t it?) that is our country. The ramifications of that prospect are really to dire to contemplate at the moment.
@Skookum:
What we do know now is that there were TWO drones, one armed and one unarmed. Were those laser coordinates being sent to the armed drone? Ty Woods would not have been trying to pin-point the mortar locations for non-existant air support.
What I find really interesting is how this Key Stone Cops administration cannot seem to get their stories straight. Leon Panetta now claims that the decision to not send reinforcements to Benghazi was made by him, General Casey (who I hate with a passion) and General Ham. Yet, Jason Chaffez told Greta Van Sustern that when he was in Libya, with General Ham, General Ham told him that no request for force relief had come into AFRICOM, which he commands. So Panetta is claiming Ham was consulted, Ham told Chaffez an entirely different story. Then we have the statement released from the CIA that no one there was told what Panetta is claiming. (my opinion of Panetta is no better than my opinion of Casey).
The trouble with all of this is that a) no low level State assistant deputy (Charlene Lamb) would have been in a position to make the decision on Benghazi security as that decision would have gone higher up b) the decision to withhold In-Extremis Forces would be made only at the very top because the attack was a simple act of war against American personnel on U.S. soil.
One other thing I would like to correct: Benghazi was NOT a consulate. It was a U.S. Diplomatic Mission. Consulates have man power, called Consular Officers, who are in a position to grant visas to Libyan citizens or to assist American citizens with their visas to Libya. What we are learning is that Benghazi was simply a “diplomatic” front for CIA operations in Benghazi. Now, why would the administration want to protray the compound as something it is not? Did Obama cut a deal with the new Libyan government that there would be no CIA presence in Libya? We know that Charlene Lamb said that while it was understood that the Libyan situation was precarious at best, dangerous at worst, the the host nation is always responsible for security for our people and that we were training Libyans (Sept. 17th Martyr’s Brigade, no less) to guard our FSOs. She also said that the U.S. government (meaning State) did not want to give the impression that the Libyans were not trusted to provide that security. Well duh! lady, the reality was that Libyans could not provide security and this administration’s political correctness just cost the lives of four Americans.
Retire: Apparently, there were thirty “diplomatic employees” who made an escape because of the actions of the former SEALs and perhaps several others in their group; they disobeyed orders and traveled the one mile distance to help the diplomats make their escape. Otherwise, we might be looking at a much higher death toll or a hostage situation.
There is something dreadfully wrong with this situation, other than our president’s dithering. It is almost as if our CIA heroes stepped up to the plate and ruined an inside job. A hostage situation and the trading of the blind Islamic nut case for American hostages might have been seen as leverage in a reelection strategy.
Being ordered to stand down and refusing to support our mission with accurate fire on a coordinated and lasered position is outrageous.
Thanks for the correction on the status of the Benghazi mission.
When General David H. Petraeus issues this statement, “No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.” he obviously hides much more than he divulges, and yet . . . .
He might be saying, “The CIA was ordered by the Admin. to stand down,” therefore he didn’t ask anyone down the CIA line not to “help.” The CIA just did nothing.
He might be saying, “The CIA is leaving the Administration to explain.” He long ago learned that to pass the buck is less harmful to one’s career than taking responsibility. That does not clarify anything, however.
He might be saying, “The CIA, ME, was told to hang back, and the only person who could have given me that order was the President who is my boss. I don’t take orders from anyone else and certainly not the State Department.”
This last translation may well be what Petraeus intends, and if he is grilled further, he might have to really throw the President under the bus.
JR, people were understandably shocked when Petaeus took the position under the Obama Administration, but these General Grade officers draw the civilian leadership they draw, and that is the luck of the draw. Petraeus chose to obfuscate for 6 weeks; unless, he wants to share in the shame and guilt of the cover up, he should come clean and resign. Most officers take the oaths of loyalty (to country not to politicians) and integrity very seriously, and Petraeus is stepping in a steaming pile.
Most men don’t lose their honor by circumstance, they give it away willingly. This is a matter of honor and integrity. Clapper is an idiot: Petraeus has no such excuses.
Skook, agreed, . . . . Petraeus should be reminded of why he is where he is, and why he has had the good fortune of having been blessed with such a successful career of leadership in the greatest country on Earth.
What comes to mind is the powerful, intelligent and profound article which the late Flopping Aces writer Major Chris Galloway wrote some years ago titled My Iraq.
Even though he is now in the CIA, Petraeus spent 37 years in the armed forces and should never allow himself to be used and abused to foist lies, particularly to those he once would have called his “brothers in arms.”
@joetote:
While I am just as disgusted at the apathy shown by the American voter in knowing about their own government, it is nothing new. During the days of Watergate, when it came time for the election in November, 1972, which put Nixon back into the Oval Office, half of Americans said they had never heard of Watergate, although it had been in the news for over a year. The apathy you see has been creeping over our nation for over a decade.
The TEA Party did one thing; it gave people a voice and the ability to seek redress, all in the vein of peaceful protest. Wisely, the TEA Party did not get into social issues, but rather the sorry state of our nation’s tax and spending policies. It also caused people, who had never read the Constitution in their lives, to pick one up, read it and start carrying a pocket copy. Books about our Founders, the “originial intent” of the the government flew off the shelves.
But for all of us, the work is not done. We have to make sure that civics, our Constitution and our form of government is taught in every school in the nation because at this point in time, it is not. You have to ask; if our kids have more teachers and small class sizes, along with plentiful teacher’s aides, why do they know less about our nation than our grandparents learned in a one room school house that had one teacher who taught all grades.
If my kids were school age, I would be home schooling them or sending them to a Christian school where I had some control over the curriculum.
JR thanks for the MY Iraq reference, it was published before I signed on. It is one of the best articles I have read on the computer.
Here is my belief…first shot fired or first explosion of RPG sends e-mails to 400 plus…EVERYONE order to the SIT-ROOM…they watch everything at REAL-TIME…questions by just about everyone “Commander BULL-SHIT” what do we do…answer” NOTHING-JUST SIT THERE AND WATCH THEM DIE”…”PUT WHY” ????
Remember what Bill Clinton said about the Bin-laden RAID…” IF ANYTHING WENT WRONG…OBAMA’S CHANCES OF GETTING RE-ELECTED GO DOWN THE TOILET ” (something to that effect) “But what about our Seal team 6 “…screw them…they are EXPENDABLE ”
Fast forward to 9/11/2012…shots fired…RPG’s exploding…terrorist on the wire…THIS IS A JUMBO CRAP-STORM going on in REAL-TIME…Answer from Urkel to the question of “what do we do”…NOTHING !!!!…sit there and watch them die…because if anyone thinks that I’M going to jeopardize MY re-election chances….your out of your F@#K-IN mind…I would have to send in a small to medium size ground force…choppers…jets and a few Spectre’s…” As “I” said before…watch them die…will call it COLLATERAL DAMAGE….”I’M going to bed ”
When Romney/Ryan come into office in Jan 2013…bring alot of NEW and CLEAN brooms…EVERYBODY HAS TO GO !!!!
@Skook:
I certainly agree with you on the position Petreaus should take. His loyalty is to the Constitution as it remains, while presidents come and go. Nothing like being a hero and then remembered in the way Benedict Arnold is.
As to your theory of why our SEALs were told to stand down, I’m not so sure that is far fetched. There was a reason the Administration did not want to try to aid Stevens. Was Stevens turning? Why was Stevens meeting with the Turkish liason to Libya? What was the purpose of the two additional building at the Benghazi compound used for? Were they for weaspons storage until those weapons were transferred to Syria through Turkey?
Now it is being reported that a spox for the White House is saying the administration did not make the call to not sent help or to tell the SEALs to stand down. After Panetta went on national TV and lied about who did, is the Oval Office getting ready to throw Panetta under the bus? No one can tell me that anyone who works for this administration doesn’t know they are only as secure as the president wants them to be at any given time. First we have Hillary saying it’s all her fault on security, next Panetta saying he, along with Casey and Ham, made the decision to not send reinforcements. These people have been warned: protect the integrity of the president at all costs, or when Obama is re-elected, they’re out of a job and a reputation. What you are seeing is patronage on steroids.
SKOOKUM
I would be surprise that GENERAL PETRAUS IS LYING,
REMEMBER OUR OLD TROOPER SAID SO MANY HIGHLY IMPRESSING THINGS ABOUT HIM,
AT THE AFGHANISTAN WAR HE WAS PRESIDING AND VERY WELL ADMIRE BY THE MEN AND WOMEN SERVING UNDER HIS COMMEND,
even that he is in charge of the CIA, DOESN’T MEAN HE COULD GO OVER
THE HEAD OF OBAMA AS PRESIDENT, MOST SURELY WHO DID START THE NEW LIBYA HIMSELF,
WOULD DEFINITELY NOT DO ANYTHING TO ATTACK IT IT IS HIS BABY REVOLUTION WHICH
HE USED HIS POWER TO ACHIEVE AND GET GADAFI TO RESIGN AGAINST HIS WILL,
OBAMA EVEN GOT THE FRENCH PRESIDENT TO JOIN HIM IN THE UN DESISIONS TO OKAYED THE NATO HELP FOR THE REBELS, SO NOW, YES HE WOULD RESIST ANY ONE TO ATTACK HIS PROUD ACHIEVEMENT CITING A NEW DEMOCRACY, WHICH IS NOT AND WILL NEVER BE WITH THEIR MENTAL MINDSET. NOW OBAMA IN CHOCK STILL CANNOT BELIEVE BEING PERSONALY TARGETTED BY HIS SO CALLED ALLIES.
IT TELL US THAT HE PROBABLY MENTAL LY ACCUSE THE AMERICANS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HIM BEING TARGETED AND HIS FACE BURNED THE ULTIMITE OUTRAGE,
THE AMERICANS WHERE DENYED THE HELP BEFORE, TAKE NOTE ,
THE AMERICANS WHERE DENIED HELP DURING THEIR BEING ATTACK, TAKE NOTE
THE AMERICANS WHERE DENIED ANY FURTHER ACTIONS FOLLOWING THE ATTACK TO SEND A STRONG MESSAGE TO THE LIBYA , LIKE A RETALIATION ACTION, LIKE BOMBING THE WHOLE
MILE AROUND THAT PLACE NO MATTER WHO IS THERE, TAKE NOTE,
AND BACK IN THE USA ONLY LIES AND LIES, AND STILL COVER UP LIES. TAKE NOTE AMERICA,
and the fact that OBAMA HAD PREVIOUSLY FEW DAYS BEFORE SEND A DRONE TO ONE OF THE ALQUAEDA TOP GUYS,
MAKE HIM THE RESPONSIBLE FOR HIMSELF HAVING ANGERED THE MUSLIMS, THERE FOR PUTTING THE 4 HERO IN DANGER WITHOUT PROTECTION,
OKAY NOW follow me on what I THINK,
HE DOESN’T WANT TO RELEASE HIS VIDEO FROM BENGHASI AND SOME MESSAGES,
WHAT IF THE AMBASSADOR HAD TOLD HIM WHAT HE KNEW OF HIM KILLING THE ALQUAEDA, AND WAS ANGRY WITH HIM,
FOR BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT WAS COMING AROUND HIM, HIS CONSULATE
@retire05:
I fully agree this goes back so much longer than one cares to admit. In fact you are correct about Watergate. Another example, one only has to look at countless politicians that get re-elected over and over after having caught caught at something. Rangel ring a bell or Frank? The list goes on and on.
I fully agree as to the education aspect you mention. my grandkids are being home schooled and already know more about the history and ideals of our country than they will ever be taught in the schools. but again, that is part of the “tell the big lie” agenda in my book. Change history or don’t teach it.
As things are coming out so quickly as to the lies in this case, maybe there is a chance that even the most leftist biased of the folks have enough moral compass to reject open dishonesty. We can only hope.
An aside here on that. As we all know George McGovern died this week. A liberal Democrat whom which I rarely agreed with, but from all accounts an honorable man who loved his country. Senator Moynihan, Dirkson, Stevenson and a few others from the past also come to mind. Their policies drove me crazy (Tip O’Neil also) but they were sincere and for the most part honest politicians! You on the left should ask yourselves (and those on the right also who keep voting in entrenched political whores) what happened to those kind of men and women in your party? Are you so berift of morals there are in fact no people that can stand up for honesty in governement? or is it just the power and the entitlement mentality?
It hasn’t been established that anyone “signed off on saving the lives of our diplomats in Benghazi.” That’s only what FOX News is alleging, and they’re not saying where they got the information. The fact that the CIA has flatly denied anyone in their organization did so doesn’t automatically mean that someone else did.
There were not thirty Americans at the consulate in Benghazi. Nor were there thirty diplomatic employees at the consulate, unless the number of contracted local security forces there has been massively understated.
The C-130 is another story from unnamed sources. There’s absolutely no proof of that. A laser pointer could have been used simply to direct the eye of a surveillance drone to something on the ground. It doesn’t prove that there was any weapon on-site that could have been used.
The bullshit is piling up around FOX’s story faster than it can be shoveled away to see if there were any new facts there to begin with.
@Greg:
#1, Benghazi was NOT a consulate. It was a U.S. Diplomatic mission. For someone who trys to pretend to be so smart, you sure seem pretty stupid to me. Consulates have employees that deal with visas, both those granted to the nationals of what ever nation they are in, and handles visa problems for U.S. citizens. Where have you found any information that tells you that any Consulate Officers were assigned to Benghazi?
As to the number of people employed at the compound, perhaps you can provide a link to that? We do know that at least nine people escaped the CIA annex, prior to the final assault that killed Ty Woods and Glen Doherty. Odd that we have not heard of any Libyan compound guards that were killed. Seems I read a report that they were advised, as well as their families, by AQ to become very, very scarce that night. I also remember reading how they deserted their posts.
So tell us, Greggie, just how many were at the compound?
Oh, one other thing, Mr. Stupid; a unarmed drone would not have laser capabilities. Gee, I thought you had been in the military? Get busted out for stupidity?
It’s for sure we are not going to get the MSM to report or comment on Benghazi, until after the election, and since the head of CIA is only telling us enough to cover his own ass, but he is probably telling us the only truth we have heard from a politician. Yes, he is now a politician; especially, now that he has elected to only tell us a limited version of what happened.
If Fox has mistakes in their reports, it is now impossible for those mistakes to be as large as the mistakes (lies) we have heard from the Obama Administration, beginning on the first morning.
Somewhere out of this fetid swamp of whores and pimps, a man with integrity will stand up and give us the whole truth, but for now, we know that practically everything the administration has told us is an outright lie. Whether the SEALs saved 9 or 30 is immaterial; we know they would be dead or captives if the (former) SEALs would have obeyed orders. Those orders were from higher than Petraeus and that only leaves our celebrity president, unless you know of someone else with that authority.
Our troops don’t laser in mortars for practice when they are about to die. They used the laser because assets, either drone or C-130 were in the area.
Bees: Sometimes telling part of the truth is almost as bad as telling an outright lie.
@retire05, #19:
That was how it was referred to in the post I was responding to. That’s how half of the news stories are referring to it. I’m aware it was a diplomatic mission. We’ve been through all of the semantics in connection with the lack of a U.S. Marine detachment, haven’t we? I don’t know why you persist in turning every comment into an insult or personal attack.
Perhaps you would cite your source for thirty. Nine sounds like quite a reasonable number. It was after 3 o’clock in the morning. There weren’t 30 people living on-site.
A Predator drone’s imaging capabilities aren’t dependent on whether it’s carrying a missile or not. A Predator has night vision and can see laser light. So can night vision glasses and a night vision-equipped rifle scope. As pointed out in another thread, if a laser designator was in use on the ground, it could have been used either to direct the lens of a surveillance drone overhead, or to direct fire on the ground from someone with a night vision scope. Both seem likely possibilities.
Lots of words that make various important points. But the truth be told, many from Obama on down say there was not enough information to act but why the hell does anyone need to chew the fat when THE AMERICAN EMBASSY WAS BEING ATTACKED! THERE WERE CALLS FOR HELP.
Is there hope? Yes. Over the past few days Obama’s approval rating has dropped precipitously. Obama still refuses to say why the urgent calls for help were turned down and why he made a feakin’ fool of himself and his staff by making up a story about protesters spontaneously attacking the embassy due to a bad video.
I can only have pity for foolish Obama as a gutless, cowardly lame duck.
@Greg:
To begin with, I never said thirty. If you were not such an a-hole, you would admit it was not me so said that, but then, you went ahead and attributed it to me anyway. Damn, you’re a jerk, Greg.
Also, if you do a little research, you would learn that drones carry Hellfires. That has been the big complaint about them as they just bomb the shit out of everything in a large area. Now you are trying to convince me that Ty Woods was directing a laser for a drone that was going to simply send video back to command while he was in a fight for his very life? Man, do you ever require the willing suspension of disbelief.
And why do I continue to insult you? Because you make yourself such an easy target. This Administration has FUBARed the entire Benghazi assault and your only purpose here is to defend the indefensible, The Won. Now we are learning that General Ham, head of AFRICOM command, has been replaced for “non-compliance.” Why would that be? Is it because, like Ty Woods, Gen. Ham was going to disobey orders to stand down and sent his QRF to try to save the Americans in Benghazi?
Wake up, Greg. You are supporting a man who is guilty of negligent homicide.
@retire05:
That’s nothing more than the latest of a long list of increasingly extreme assertions we’ve been hearing from the far right about Obama for over four years now. Apparently they’ve decided to bet everything on this final one throw of the dice during the run-up to the elections.
It’s interesting to watch them. Romney latched onto Benghazi as a politically exploitable event before the bodies were even cold. His initial effort was so appallingly inept and inappropriate that members of his own party openly criticized him. Those people were all whipped back into line within 48 hours. Allegations about Benghazi have subsequently been fine-tuned on the roll. Now, during the final days, they’re spinning out details from anonymous sources, and building scenarios on them as if they were established fact.
Do you think it’s going to work? If it does, you’re going to replace an effective Commander in Chief with a guy who hasn’t got a friggin’ clue about foreign policy or a shred of experience dealing with international or national security issues, and who’s simple-minded claim is that the economy has gotten steadily worse since Obama took office, and I know how to fix it. (Details to be provided later.) It’s absurd the extremes you have to go to, to get people to vote for Romney.
GREG
WHEN YOU SEE THE TOP GENERALS POINTING FINGER AT OBAMA, AS THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF
MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, THAT TELL YOU A LOT MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE YOU ARE WAITING TO LEARN, THEY ARE VERY ANGRY, ANGRY AS HELL
@Greg: Actually, Romney was correct to bring this up. It would have been wrong not to mention it. Now that he has mentioned it, the reason he keeps silent is that (1) he realizes that the press will use any utterance of his to change the subject from “the Administration’s criminal negligence” to the subject of “Romney / oh how inappropriate /squirrel!,” as you just did, and (2) the Administration is destroying themselves so quickly that it can’t really be improved upon.
@ilovebeeswarzone, #27:
But they aren’t. A bunch of talking heads on the FOX News payroll are.
Romney is keeping his mouth shut because his handlers have at last identified his tendency to insert his foot into it whenever it’s opened. He has done so again and again. They dare not let him go off script during these final days before the election. And Ryan? Ryan who?
@Greg: The Press has attempted to portray every word other out of Romney’s mouth as a gaffe. That doesn’t make it so. In the first debate, the public got to see Romney, unfiltered by the MSM/Democratic Party complex, for ninety minutes, and it demolished the entire Romney caricature that had been constructed. I can see you long for the days before that, but those days are gone and they not coming back. The contrast between Romney competently plugging along and the current orgy of failure and recrimination in the Executive Branch is stark.
Speaking of delusional gaffe machines, I notice you didn’t mention Joe Biden. Any thoughts?
Many thanks again Greg for your lack of service and the lives saved because you were not behind any decisions…It still amazes me you’ll shill for someone even after the facts have been presented, first they blame the video, then that’s shown to go against what happened, you continue to shill, a lack of intel is given as an excuse, that’s shown that was untrue, you continue to shill, proof is shown that an aircraft was on target, you shill, proof is shown that a terrorist attack was in progress, proof is shown capabilities are in place to respond, you shill, RDF is in place for the CIF (not that you would ever have the slightest clue about a CIF), you shill and when push comes to shove, it doesn’t matter if four Americans were murdered, just as long as Dear Leader (PBUH) gets no flack…..You’re just all butt hurt that your mom jeans wearing, women’s bike riding, non baseball throwing messiah is not what he’s cracked up to be and therefore you can’t live vicariously through him..
@Skook:
Patraeus might have kept his credibility if he hadn’t gotten on the “it’s the video” bandwagon from the beginning. A buddy of mine served under him as an NCO, he told me the other night that Patraeus was a political animal from way back… no surprise there.
@Wm T Sherman, #31:
Portray? Please. The guy is a walking contradiction. His campaign staff has had a full time job clarifying what he actually said or meant to say. Gaffes aren’t the issue. Everybody commits those. Romney’s problem is a total lack of specifics set against a background of constant position reversals, and a basket full of campaign promises that simply don’t add up.
@Sua Sponte, #32:
Yes, yes, we all know how pleasant you can be when you turn on the winning charm. But did you have something relevant that you wanted to say?
Has General Carter F. Ham, commander of U.S. Africa Command, been fired for defying Leon Panetta on Benghazi?
http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/p/37144547/Interesting-Rumor-Concerning-General-Carter-Ham-and-Stand-Down-Order.aspx
General Ham was told to stand down from sending aid to Benghazi, that General Ham on his own decided to proceed, and that he was then relieved of his command.
On 18 October 2012, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta participated in a “DOD News Briefing on Efforts to Enhance the Financial Health of the Force.” In his introductory remarks, Mr. Panetta said: “Today I am very pleased to announce that President Obama will nominate General David Rodriguez to succeed General Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command . . .”

So, not the fall guy, not ”under the bus,” but out of his top job at age 61.
Panetta did not want back-up to go in and aid our brave men in Benghazi!
@Greg:
Why ? Greg, you ask why as if you are an offended purveyor of the “truth”. Please let us all apologize in advance for having formed a an image of you as the forever obamination WH spy sent to draw out our ire at your BOHICA apologist posts.
From the Far Right playbook:
If a former Conservative saint like Gen Patraeus steps out of line, don’t try to understand his perspective given the situation, or – God forbid – give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows more than we do (being the head of the CIA and all):THROW HIM UNDER THE BUS! Don’t think about his service; attack his character. Recommended terminologies includes traitor, politician, socialist. Make sure you sound hysterical and uninformed for maximum Far Right authenticity.
How to deal with a Democratic President: impeach him!!!!! (duh!)
@Greg:
Please go ahead and provided us your next political ad to convince us that our obstinence is due wholly from our not enjoying the orgasmic experience with our first exposure in 2008 to the Chicago “bath house wonder”. I was not fooled then and remain un-fooled today as obozoland denigrates the good names of the multitude of women who made this nation what it is. They did not have their first orgasmic experience in voting for the village idiot in 2008.
I appreciate the explanation. One might have mistakenly concluded that some people simply don’t know how to engage in polite, issue-focused discussion, or childishly lose control of their tempers when confronted with facts or opinions that they dislike.
I remember a time, not that long ago, when the Left referred to Petraeus as General Betray Us.
Scott in OK, I can’t blame a general or anyone from going into politics, but it’s kind of like being a pimp in a whore house. None of the officers I knew, ever expressed an interest in politics or working in a whore house.
@Nan G: Well, General Ham, Commander of AFRICOM, is no more; he refused to stand down when he heard requests for assistance repeatedly; he said ‘screw it’ and, wanting to save these mens life was 30 sec later arrested by his 2nd in command, General Rodriquez. He relieved him of his duties.
Obama and, Panetta are promoting Rodriquez to commander of AFRICOM.
Panetta and Dempsey lied during the press conference, when stating that Gen Ham and these two duds decided not to risk troops.
@ Skooks,
So your point is that you’re no different than the farthest fringe of the Left? Maybe this political spectrum thing ultimately is just a circle.
Not exactly, I think you have read my posts in this article and commentary. In the military, the phrase, “An officer and a gentleman” distinguishes a man with higher expectations or at least the military expects a higher level of performance from the man. Those higher levels of performance include honor and honesty. I did not accuse the general of lying, but I have accused him of covering his ass and not telling us the entire truth. If General Ham would have sent a team into Benghazi and saved one to four men, he would have disobeyed orders and that would have been the end of his military career, but he would have saved some of our best. If you go along with the pols you get your pillow stuffed: if you say, “To Hell with the pols, I am going to save those Americans” it will be the end of your career. I pray I would have had enough integrity to bring those men out alive and be ready to look for a job washing cars or maybe running for president.
@cali, #42:
Even the blogs carrying that story repeatedly state that it’s a rumor.
Like all of the bullshit that’s suddenly being treated by the right as credible information, the original source is anonymous.
Here is the point where it was originally injected. Refer to the post at the top of the page, from an anonymous forum user posting under a pseudonym, quoting an unidentified person they claim to be “entirely trustworthy.”
I’m not sure if what’s coming up on the 6th of next month is an election, or a national pass/fail intelligence test.
@ Skooks,
So you’ve insulted one of the most accomplished military leaders of the last several decades, and based on what? A Fox news story? And why? Because of your desperation to believe Obama is such an evil villain. Evidence for the charge you’ve been making for four years now workout evidence. So under the bus goes Gen P. Classy.
Insulted? I think he did that on his own. He kept his quote on the Benghazi Debacle under wraps for 6 weeks and then it was only a skim milk version of the truth. Americans and the families of the victims deserve the truth. Do you believe that all our people in the ME should participate in the lies or should they tell the truth: if they are expected to go along with the lies, they will all need radios to keep up with the current set of lies from the administration. Obama and company are only owed loyalty to a certain point, participating in a cover up is way past that point.
@Greg:
I see your reading comprehension has failed you again. The AT article was simply thinking outloud about the reasons for Gen. Ham’s release.
Ham will stay as commander of AFRICOM until the Senate approves Rodriquez. If the Senate doesn’t approve Rodriquez, then the CIC will have to pick someone else. Now, it does seem a little odd that we have conflicting stories from Panetta, who claimed Ham signed off on the plan to NOT send in reinforcements, yet Ham tells Jason Chaffez that he was never consulted on that decision.
The bottom line is this, Greggie: the attack on the compound, a U.S. Diplomatic Mission, was an act of war by a nation that is responsible for its citizens. There is only one person who can order troops into a foreign fray, or require them to stand down; THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
So no matter how you try to twist, spin, obfuscate, detract, or outright lie, it does not change the fact that the President is the ultimate say in any event like Benghazi. And the more you try to do your little dog and pony show, the more pathetic you look.
@Greg:
Oh, Greggie, Greggie, what effort you waste in trying to bring down a man whose shoes you are not fit to shine. Instead, you claim that anything said about the son of a Kenyan Marxist is just, let me see, how did you put it? Extreme assertions?
Here is a constitutional fact for you, Greggie; only the president can sent troops into battle without a declaration of war. Only the president had the authority to send QRFs into Benghazi; not Panetta, not Petreaus, not Clinton; the president, Greggie. See if you can allow that to sink into your very think skull. The decision to send, or in this case, to NOT send, troops to rescue American FSOs lies strickly with the president, and no amount of your bullsh!t changes that.
Now, if you think that the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of State or the Director of the CIA has that power, provide the law that permits that action by those people. Otherwise, STFU.
@ Skooks,
I agree. Of course we still don’t know what happened. The idealistic ham in me still thinks it’s best to wait for facts before passing judgement and unloading both barrels. Not that there’s any accountability for anything written on the internet.
