Correction to Baldwin’s house noted, rockybutte/butt… which ever irritates you the most… LOL My bad.. address is a 50 Piedmont Ave, and a suite number that I can’t ID on reverse address checks.

“Dudley”??? WTF? … as in “do-right”???

And I read the American Digest link, as you suggested. Again I’m missing what fires that hair up your “butte”….. Disagree? Fine. But it’s far from the evil dissertation you make it out to be.

Thanks to all regarding my son John.
(Keep an eye open on your e-mail Skooks, some details are forthcoming.)

Rocky. I think you need to re-read it. I won’t go so far to claim that you don’t “get it”, but maybe you need to reach a little deeper. Of course if you’re an Obama fan, I can understand your angst.

Or maybe you could overlook the style, and focus on whatever inaccuracies you feel are within it, thereby initiating a discussion. Hell, maybe I’ll get Gerard to answer them for you. I certainly don’t see it as harsh as I’ve sometimes seen around here.

Mata, I’m referring to Chris Dudley, Republican candidate for Oregon Governor, and worst free-throw shooter in the history of the NBA. Actually, I kinda like the guy. He’s pro-choice and pro-gay rights. He’s been a diabetic since adolescence and has operated a camp for teenage diabetics, which he has subsidized, in the Portland area for the last decade or so. He’s never held elective office, and comes across as an empty suit at times. John Kitzharber, his Democratic opponent, is a former two-term governor and former Oregon Senate President.

Patvann, I’d like to discuss the high and low points of the American Digest piece. I’ll need to find some time to swing by and do justice to the dialogue.

I see the possible reason Butte does not like Stephen Baldwin. Is it because of his not too recent conversion to Christianity?

That Baldwin brother is also a hard-core conservative, and was Bush supporter. He’s visited the troops quite often in theater.

Rockybutte (who seems to be the one that is anally fixated) likes a RINO. There’s a shock.

As for the article, a lot of fluff IMHO. You want hateful, look at what people like you have written about Conservatives.

Boy oh boy, Rocky.

That was one scathing point-by-point retort you posted over at A-D. I’m sure he’s considering hanging up the ol keyboard, now that you’ve put him in his place.

@rockybutte: Mata, I’m referring to Chris Dudley, Republican candidate for Oregon Governor, and worst free-throw shooter in the history of the NBA.

oh…. *that* Dudley. Dang, would have more positives to say about Dudley Do-Right. 😯

There was quite a line up in the Oregon GOP primary. Dudley’s certainly likeable if people want to vote for a “star”. I’m troubled by his lack of experience in running anything. I’m also troubled he was easily led around by the nose by the union big wigs in the 1999 NBA strike over salary caps.

These two things are related. The former because his lack of experience means, to be effective, he needs to make wise decisions in his support staff because they will be running the show. The latter shows he does not necessarily pick his sides and support groups well.

Kitzhaber? Been there, done that. “Dr. No”, as he was called for heavy veto power, didn’t necessarily leave office walking a path of rose petals thrown in adoration. Being an ER doctor, state health care has always been near and dear to his heart. He’s predictable on the issues, following the liberal lean on pretty much everything. A good man at his root – meaning not the corrupt type – but most certainly on the opposite end of the political spectrum from me on just about everything.

It will be interesting to see how Dudley grows during the campaign season. I would guess that, as a sports star with a clean (i.e. *no*) political record, he may have appeal for the independents. Then there’s the possibility that those Dems, less than enthralled with Kitzhaber before, take a leap of faith with Dudley. But right now, I’m giving him a wide spread in points on any debate. Not so good on the stump/dais where Kitzhaber is seasoned. Also, there is a benefit to Kitzhaber’s willingness to use his veto…. if he applies it to spending, that is.

For me? I think it all depends on who I see surrounding Dudley. i.e. the nation has already voted for Rahm Emanuel, Axelrod, Plouffe, Pelosi and Reid etal when they fell in love with the community organizer and his Greek columns and fireworks back in 2008. Dudley may be a pliable and appealing mouthpiece, but it all depends upon for whom, yes?

I’m bothered that some background powerhouse picked him out of the sea of unqualifieds to catapult him to the candidate position. I don’t know who they are yet, or what their agenda is. This is Oregon. Republicans here are not much different (or worse) than a MA Republican. i.e. can you write RINO in humongous print?

@Patvann… so that’s where one of our trash bin commenters, Arthurstone – self defined urban eco warrior and mass transit/critical city mass advocate – now resides post FA. Usually all the rejects go over and cling to MikeA’s cyber knees at his blog…. 😆

@Mata

Yup…Although it sure is fun watching Gerard smite him!

-Although I feel a little guilty for having led any of the rejects over there, even though I know he only uses 1% of his brain to smash them into bone-free jello.

Patvann,

Thanks for your recognition of my post at AD. I’ll return to this site to post my basis for discussion. I don’t have much time to spend on the net. I probably won’t find myself in front of a keyboard again until Tuesday, the 8th. Thanks for your interest.

@Rocky.

3 strikes and you’re out dood. Twice here now, and once over there you’ve had the opportunity.

Next batter up, please.

In my travels through the web this morning this came to my attention. Wilder Publications is now putting warning labels on copies of the Constitution, Federalist Papers, Articles of Confederation, Bill of Rights, etc:

A Warning Label — on the U.S. Constitution

© Wilder Publications 2008

This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today. Parents might wish to discuss with their children how views on race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and interpersonal relations have changed since this book was written before allowing them to read this classic work.

Then I noted this article, picked up my spirits a bit, of course the WaPo journalist reporting on Mr. Taylor’s classes spared no spin, regardless, you get the message, more and more people are motivated to study the Founding Fathers and the Constitution.

Conservative class on Founding Fathers’ answers to current woes gains popularity

Two years ago, Taylor, who is president of the National Center for Constitutional Studies, made about 35 trips to speak to small church groups and political gatherings. This year, he has received so many requests that he enlisted 15 volunteer instructors, who are on pace to hold more than 180 sessions reaching thousands of people.

After attending a number of Tax Day rallies, these tea partiers put together a song and video that honors our country, the Founders and our people. We can be so thankful to all, the tea partiers, Mr. Taylor and his team, many people participating at FA and most of all our Warriors that have fought and are still fighting. They are all the glue that is holding this country together, facing off all sorts of our country’s enemies in many different ways. Thank you all!

Power of the Dream song and video:
