A former fetus, the “wordsmith from nantucket” was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1968. Adopted at birth, wordsmith grew up a military brat. He achieved his B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles (graduating in the top 97% of his class), where he also competed rings for the UCLA mens gymnastics team. The events of 9/11 woke him from his political slumber and malaise. Currently a personal trainer and gymnastics coach.
The wordsmith has never been to Nantucket.

I notice a lot of cartoons ridiculing stereotyped conservatives ‘saving’ their kids from o’bama’s “stay in school and work hard” schtict — nice rewrite of the intentions there – that speech was what it was ONLY because of the outcry from the conservatives — otherwise it was going to be an enslavement message — SUBMIT to ME!!
As much as I usually like Michael Ramirez’ work, I have to say that I found his cartoon with the aircraft about to hit the white house to be in extremely poor taste. I know some may disagree, but I ask you to think about how you reacted when DDB advertising created the 9-11 inspired ad for the World Wildlife Foundation recently.
@Formerly known as Skeptic:
I have to agree with you although I think that the focus and intent of Ramirez was much different than that of DDB in that DDB was actually making light of the deaths which occurred on 9/11.
The use of planes headed toward buildings in any sort of work, whether it be cartoons or advertising, should be avoided.
There are other ways to get the same point across.
@budvarakbar
I agree with you, although I am hardly surprised. This has become a standard trick of this administration. Propose something fairly outrageous, wait for the outcry, go the the “vanilla” plan B and act confused by the original outrage, as if it were targeted at the vanilla option. It only works when you have as much media control/cooperation as they do. (Although I find them overestimating that aspect time and time again.)
Ya know, don’t you just love it when the lying, yapping, wee weed up person gets in your face and tries to sell you on his argument no matter how circuitous and demented it is?
Don’t you want to just shout, will you please go away?
Had no business over taking the school day with any kind of a speech. Every one let our kids be kids, just teach them how to read and write and do math, the rest is none of their business.
A number of the country’s larger school districts hadn’t even started their school year at that point, yet one Florida superintendent of schools was cutting points for students not attending. I think it was a “manufactured” Obama administration mess.
Oops, forgot to comment on the two that startled and saddened me. I was also uncomfortable with the plane flying into the WH and then the “Uncle” GW “Sam” cartoon missing September 11 on the calendar left an impact on me.
On another note:

… we know the drill that defines his leadership, for better and worse. When trouble lurks, No Drama Obama stays calm as everyone around him goes ballistic. Then he waits — and waits …
This is Presidential leadership ? We might as well have Chance Gardener as President.
Hmmm, haven’t been able to edit lately, tried to add:

At first glance Uncle Sam looked like a costumed President Bush, had to put my glasses on and take another peek.

@Lightbringer
I think you make excellent points here Lightbringer. There is a deviousness to this administration that many Republicans are not considering in their opposition. Obama and his crowd are using political magician tricks, to distract conservatives and the people and get “knee-jerk” reactions. Then while the opposition is responding to what they see and hear, the tricksters work to complete their actual machinations hidden by the distractions. The Republican leadership are too used to the well recognized traditional partisan warfare of typical congressional Democrats like Pelosi and Reid, that they have become myopic. They seem to be so close to what is going on, that they can’t fathom beyond their own experiences.
It’s like Wilson’s getting upset and shouting out the Obama was a liar. With all the lies Obama threw out there, it was bound to get a reaction from Republicans and they got a better response than they probably expected. So the news is not about the examinations of Obama’s Lies, but about a Wilson’s shout. The next day, they started claiming that his exclamation was racists. It’s bS, but it’s a tactic that has so far worked for the Dems because most of the press simply will not call foul on it. Obama get’s a pass, and another Republican gets roasted in the press.
Republicans leaders need to wise-up and hit the Democrats calmly with the facts. not with theiremotion and temper. Otherwise they’re just going to get played like harps.
