Sarah Palin Resigning – Updated

Loading

Quick post while at work….Sarah Palin is resigning as Governor.

Guess that’s it for her.

UPDATE

Todd to FNC: Sarah to concentrate on doing things for Alaska and the country she can’t do as governor.”

UPDATE

She brings up the slams against Trig as being a reason her kids wanted her to do something. “It’s been in the works for awhile.” Said that her trips to visit the troops was a factor.

Nice finish. “Don’t explain – your friends don’t need it, and your enemies won’t believe it anyway.”

Not sure I get it. She could be planning to spend 2010 campaigning for true conservatives for 2010, forcing the party back to its roots and then onto 2012. Or she could be tired of the lawsuits and crap she takes from the media and the left.

Confused.

UPDATE

Sarah’s brother said that “the amount of time she (and her staff) was having to spend on defending herself against all the charges (80%) wasn’t fair to Alaska. Couldn’t effectively govern.”

UPDATE

Dan Riehl:

Just listened to the video. My take – she’s not done and will look to go national in some way setting up for a possible 2012 run.

Others:

She was being sued into oblivion. It worked.

Bill Kristol says the more he thinks about this the more he thinks it might be a bold move by her.

We know we can affect positive change outside government at this moment in time on another scale and actually make a difference,” she said, adding that politics had become a “superficial, wasteful bloodsport.”

UPDATE

A Republican source close to her political team told CNN that it was a “calculation” she made that “it was time to move on.” The governor’s “book deal and other issues” was “causing a lot of friction up” in her home state, the source said, adding that he believes that she is “mapping out a path to 2012.”

UPDATE

Presser on FOX right now…sounds like she is stepping down due to ethics complaints she has to defend. she said there are 15 of them and they have all been dismissed. said it cost $2M and thousands of hours in work to respond. She has become a distraction for state business.

Or at least that is what I read between the lines.

she said she had to respond to ethics complaint about wearing a logo on her jacket and a picture of her holding a fish…really?

UPDATE

From Sarah Palin’s twitter account:

We’ll soon attach info on decision to not seek re-election… this is in Alaska’s best interest, my family’s happy… it is good, stay tuned

UPDATE

Tape of the announcement:

UPDATE

Glenn Beck on Twitter:

True about Palin dropping out and stepping down. GOOD. Get out of the system. Be a CREATIVE extremist as MLK said.

UPDATE

Andrea Mitchell says her sources inside the Palin camp are saying Palin is done with politics. Video here.

UPDATE

TBogg photoshops this picture of the Palin family: (h/t Dan Riehl)

Sarah Palin has been hounded by the MSM, which has intruded on her, and her staff’s, ability to effectively do the job she was elected to do.

She should get a job for a few of years, running a mid to large corporation, then come back into the fray with a vengeance. Her track record running Alaska would stand her well in business. It will give her time to brush up on most issues that have become critical for national office contenders.

She hasn’t deserved the abuse. Good luck to her.

bastards.

She let them beat her.

Damn MSM with its freedom-hating demand of transparency.

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Obviously, she can’t handle the pressure of being a high-profile politician. When she was just an anonymous governor of a sparsely populated state, she had free reign to do whatever she wanted. Now she’s under the microscope, and she can’t handle it. You need to be thick-skinned to be a politician. No one would use those words to describe her. All the constant whining, getting into wars of words with comedians. It’s unbecoming of someone who wants to lead the free world.

Could you imagine if Obama had to respond, like she does, to every perceived slight or insult?

@Hurricane Katrina: Hunh? Surely you are talking about Obama who has already stiffed any transparency and accountability in office.

Heck, we don’t even know how much his date night in New York cost taxpayers.

@Ed: I don’t see it the way you do. In fact, I see it 180 degrees opposite.

Perhaps I could understand your point of view better if you gave me a list of Republican women on the national level you thought had more going for them?

In terms solely of shock factor, she did something I didn’t think could be done….out weirded Mark Sanford.

Governor Palin is a fantastic governor. She has had 15 ethics complaints — everything stupid you can imagine (she wore a jacket at the Iron Dog competition, etc) and they’ve all been dismissed. They’ve had people watching gifts she receives (to make certain she claims them) so they can raise another ethics complaint against her. She can obviously stand the heat — however, her time as governor has been reduced to these complaints (which have cost Alaska over $2 million) and left the Governor and her family in debt. They are not wealthy — they work. No family not made of millions can handle the attacks the governor has.

It is a sad day for Alaska. She has been an awesome governor. Accomplished things that others have tried to for years. Governor Palin has great common sense and ability.

Whether she plans for a future in national politics or not, Alaska has benefited from her leadership and ability.

Challenge anyone in current politics to go through what Governor Palin has. President Obama & Vice President Biden certainly haven’t. She can pass the mustard and definitely could have represented our country far better then they.

This is a sad day for Alaska.

Now I know why I’ve started thinking for the last two days, being intuitive, of putting my ‘Keep the Change, Sarah Palin 2012’ bumper sticker on my car…

GODSPEED TO YOU, SARAH!!!!!!!!!!

Ahem, that’s why I think she made the announcement today…the day before INDEPENDENCE DAY!!! :):):) Now, I have something to celebrate tomorrow!!!

She’s also putting Alaska first, NOT running from problems there. She knows all the falsely accused ethics complaints are not good for Alaska, as she said in her speech, and she didn’t ask for all the attacks she’s received. Nothing Sarah does follows conventional methods, which is why millions love her. And, why her opponents are scared to death of her. She’s not quitting America, just going in a different direction…;)

Palin has neither the wealth, the goon squads, nor power, of Obama in fighting lawsuits and media assaults. da big Zero just delegates his woes to various law teams and community activists like ACORN, writes a check, then goes back to spending everyone else’s money. Apparently Ed hasn’t sorted out financial realities when he makes his not-even-close comparison between the two. But then the brain power of the O’faithful hasn’t exactly bowled me over.

Considering that media and pro-Zero forces have been piling on since she returned to the Capitol dome after the campaign, and she doesn’t have the financial resources to delegate like Obama, I’d say that the distraction for the State is a very valid reason.

I also wouldn’t blame her for telling the political world where to shove it. Does that mean, like Ed thinks, that she can’t take the heat? Contrary to his “No one would use those words [thick skinned]to describe her flippant comment, she and her family have taken an extraordinary amount of personal abuse. I’d bet on them having far tougher hides than Obama, who gets irritated and huffy when his fawning press criticizes him. But I’d have to ask… why bother? Whoever inherits the economic disaster and social experiment from the Eunuch in Chief… assuming he doesn’t figure out a way for no term limits with his pal, Chavez… has one serious uphill battle to reverse the damage. *If* it can be reversed at all.

Tell ya what, Sarah… if you want to be a private citizen activist, and enjoy life with your family, I say go for it. However she’s not gone… she’s a fund raising magnet and anyone she tosses her support to will reap beaucoup bucks. And she’s retiring with a record she can be proud of.

Two weeks notice? Announcement on the July 4th holiday before a weekend? Stop kidding yourself- that’s someone who is trying to sneak out of town.

REMOVED BY MATA… if you planning on accusing a US Governor of being a drug dealer, do it elsewhere, Lois… like for example take it to the FBI? But then you have no such proof of this but blind hatred.

Oh yes…. welcome to the moderation filter

I’m confused, while watching her speak, I kept wondering. Where is her teleprompter?

Three of the top conservatives have become unelectable in the last month. Blame the MSM ? yeah sure whatever but that excuse has been really overworked, I’d try something new

Yo John Ryan… as usual, you just blow out words and facts be damned.

The three top GOP runners are Huckabee, Palin and Romney.

As to what’s electable, depends on how many more get wise to the bozo in the WH inbetween. ’tis early yet.

V? Must stand for the vaginitis you lefties suffer from.

She’ll be back…

Speaking of vaginitis, john ryan has oozed out of hiding for another whipping.
Sanford a top prospect? Hahahahahaha. Funny, I don’t recall anyone saying the MSM is to blame for his fall. Oh, that’s because they didn’t. You’re just showing that liberal “logic and tolerance” the left is known for.

Sarah is NOT gone – she’s changing tactics. She’s gonna campaign for our candidates (what a boon that will be for them). She’ll keep her face in the news and she will get the experience that she needs (not that obama has or will). Don’t count her out!

We shall see how much “thick skin” Mr. I-Have-A-Gift demonstrates when the questions begin to turn on him over the next few months.

I understand Palin’s timing. I resigned an important position several months before running for a county-wide circuit/county judgeship. This shocked my politically-connected husband, but the timing was about getting ready, settling down my family and myself for the run. It was the right decision, as I had adequate time to give attention to the children in schools, contact and develop financial donors, get everything else ready, etc. I then ran, unopposed, because the public perception was that I was independent, and not relying on the previous job/position for leverage.

I served fourteen years as a judge in Florida, without any ethics issue being raised. Palin knows exactly what she is doing. The male-dominated MSM does not get it.

PALIN 2012

As for the ethics issues, the issues the left has complained about are things that previous Gov’s have done. Both Dem’s and Rep’s. Now all of a sudden, these things are bad?

If you can’t see the politics of destruction behind this then your pretty blind or biased.

Good luck Sarah!

Just heard commentary on CNN that this was a flat-out BRILLIANT move so I’ve had to lie down for a while to recover from hearing something positive on CNN about Sarah Palin (it was at the Gym so I had no choice but to watch the text on the screen).

I’ve been saying the same thing all afternoon.

Another state, another time, perhaps she stays.

But, in this case, she was unable to leave AK for more than a day without generating howls and inquiries and complaints and screeches from those who have become accustomed to screeching no matter if she starts her day on her left foot or her right (either being wrong in some quarters).

It carries its risks, sure. But 2010 is too late to start a presidential campaign. If she was going to be lashed to the Alaska State Capitol until then she had NO CHOICE but to saw through the chains and free herself to do what she needs to do, which is criss-cross the country and show people the real deal.

With great risk can come great reward.

One thing this lady has, is cojones/chutzpah. She makes just about every other politician on the horizon look like girlie men, including the empty suit currently playing the part of POTUS in the tragi-comedy currrently on stage in Washington.

Definitely a Cuda move.

We’ll see how it turns out but I expect we are about to see Sarah Palin unleashed. People in Alaska tell me it’s something to behold and nothing like what we saw when she was tangled up head to foot in McCain’s puppet strings.

Time to rock ‘n roll.

Correction: The END of 2010 is too late (as in 2011).

Don’t count Sarah Palin out! She is a fighter and just what this Country needs!

Now, she is free to take on the MSM, the GOP Moderates (liberal Democrats) and all those “Mooseburgers”! So look out “little Barry” – she’s going to be the main topic of the MSM.

Why? The answer is simple – the MSM are afraid of her and they are in the tank for president Obama! “The Messiah’s” news coverage will be in the toilet, but the MSM will attempt to give him cover. The MSM (MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, NYT, LAT, ect.) will continue to worship “The Most Merciful One” – “The lord president Barack Hussein Obama” – the empty suit!

I’m glad you asked. What is an empty suit? This is the definition. Does it fit – president Obama?

An empty suit tends to refer to a non-important person – perhaps someone puffed up with his own importance but really having little effect on the lives of others. It is often used as an insult to disparage others who really don’t deserve the title. The true empty suit, which conjures up the image of a business suit of clothing without a person, really doesn’t know what he or she is doing. He or she is ineffectual, perhaps a phony, and is about as relevant or helpful as a suit hanging on a rack.

For complete reference go to > http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-an-empty-suit.htm

“The One” is no longer to be the talk of the town!

This is what the America needs. Someone who will stand up for America! She will be good for America because she’s not going to trash America – like the “Trash man Obama”!

The weeks to come are going to be exciting! Happy 4th of July!!!

The Daily Beast says it may be an embezzlement scandal that’s forcing her hand:

Though Todd Palin told Fox News he built his Lake Lucille home with the help of a few “buddies,” according to Barrett’s report, public records revealed that SBS supplied the materials for the house. While serving as mayor of Wasilla, Sarah Palin blocked an initiative that would have required the public filing of building permits—thus momentarily preventing the revelation of such suspicious information.

Just months before Palin left city hall to campaign for governor, she awarded a contract to SBS to help build the $13 million Wasilla Sports Complex. The most expensive building project in Wasilla history, the complex cost the city an addition $1.3 million in legal fees and threw it into severe long-term debt. For SBS, however, the bloated and bungled project was a cash cow.

Alaskan bloggers are saying there are rumors of an oncoming investigation. This is going to be interesting.

herman: The Daily Beast says it may be an embezzlement scandal that’s forcing her hand:
…snip…
Alaskan bloggers are saying there are rumors of an oncoming investigation.

Still desperately seeking a scandal, eh herman? And by “Alaskan bloggers”, you mean Progressive Alaska and Mudflats? Yeah… overwhelming with love and truth those two were during Troopergate. But they, like Andrew Halco, rode to dubious fame attracting losers like you, desperate to believe anything slimey about the Palin’s.

Oddly enough, nothing seems to stick. Funny, you all loved Clinton for his qualities resembling teflon…. wonder why not Sarah? snicker…

Where Palin goes, an investigation *always* goes. Since she popped onto the scene, she’s been barraged by the likes of the O’faithful media and Dem thuggery, bent on running her into the ground. This is not a woman who goes quietly.

And won’t you be disappointed that it’s just going to be a lot more mud slung…. all for naught?

Suggest you all be careful…. we’ve been learning your Alinsky “ad hominem” tactics well over the past year.

BTW, how’s that William Jefferson trial going? True scandal there… not interested, eh? And how about that John Murtha? Don’t care about Dem scandals, right? Prefer to make ’em up and hope for a future scandal?

@Ed: You know what! I bet “That one” would if Letterman said the same thing about Malia or Sasha or If they had a mentally challenged kid and the media was making fun of her or him.. I bet he would put an end to that Chicago style and Rahm’s thugs would be kicking their sorry arses! But nobody stands for Sarah, afterall she is woman, a conservative women in politics..oh my! the clown senator of Minnesota gets more respect than Sarah! Heck, Kerry wanted her to “be missing”! and nobody says anything…
Sarah Palin stands for everything that democrats hate. Yes, she has principles! Damm the liberal media and the pathetic democrats!

Herman just think how mad your going to be when you have to call her President Palin!

Don’t count Sarah Palin out! She is a fighter and just what this Country needs!—–JIM

A fighter who lost. Now matter how big a fan you are of hers you have to admit that press conference was awful. It made no sense and was incoherent. I have no ideas what her plans were but if it’s a life on the political stage, this was not the way to go.

If she can’t handle attacks now how could she ever handle being leader of the free world? All N.Korea or Iran has to do is post pictures making fun of Trig or her daughters and she will be twittering and quitting the next day.

Bad move today. If she would have not bailed on her state and waited till her term was over maybe, but this shows weakness emotionally, which sounds sexist but gives ammunition to her opponents. If Bush, Obama, Clinton and every other politician who has been attacked relentlessly could handle it how come she can’t?

Herman, that makes no sense. Such a supposed juicy scandal would had been brought up in 2008. Think about it. The DNC and MSM would had been all over it.

Secondly, simply resigning wouldn’t make this go away. So your first sentence is a non-sequitor.

We’re now going to source liberal blogs? The same ones who said Sarah was not the mother of Trig? The 15 ethics complaints that got dismissed? The sick, tasteless jokes?

i have lived in alaska over 35 years and live near wasilla.

speculation about why palin left that suggests scandal are empty speculations. the daily beast is manufacturing a senator ted stevens-like story about the house. nice try.

she has done well as gov. her cabinet and #2 are still in charge. she is now unencumbered by the title and position of governor. this move gives her options and will save alaska $$ from these b.s. ethics complaints. (the left is 0 for 15, though they got their headlines)

another blog post had it right in recognizing the similarity of her resigning the gov. position from her resigning from the alaska oil and gas commission when changes were not made after she exposed ethics violations of a fellow republican and party chairman, but saw that then gov-murkowski ignored the ethics violation and made no change, she made the wise decision to not be bound by that position, saying no to the $100K plus commissioner salary she had been receiving.

good move on resigning as gov. not sure if she will run, but any conservative needing a boost in fundraising would be wise to have her along side over the election cycle.

as an alaskan familiar with alaskan politics to those beltway pundit-know-it-alls–palin does not follow the standard formula–she does not have to. i worked on a campaign for a former alaska lt. gov who almost lost to her in his republican primary. she came within 1200 votes of beating him and had no where near the sophisticated campaign machinery he had. when she chose to run for gov. the next go around we referred to her as the palin juggernaut. murkoswki and binkely thought they had her good. the primary was not even close and she crushed the democrat/former gov. tony knowles.

the massive numbers that came to see her during the mccain campaign 20,000 here, 15,000 there are a testament to her national appeal. despite what insiders/columnists/bloggers claim to know about politics. the standard rules don’t apply to her because her appeal is so strong.

resigning as alaska’s gov. will not affect her political viability down the road despite opinions to the contrary. in fact the opposite is true, she has increased her viability.

This is stunning. She is done. No one likes a quitter.

Call me old fashioned.

Winners never quit.

Quitters never win.

She had people who donated their hard earned money to elect her.

She had people who worked their butts off for her.

She had people who voted for her, thinking that she’d finish out her term.

She reminds me of Bobby Petrino.

Walked out on a contract at the U of Louisville. Leaves kids he recruited in a lurch.

Walked out on a contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Stiffs owners, fans, players.

She had a contract and she walked out on it.

Sure, Democrats have done this sort of thing, also. But it’s wrong.

– Larry Weisenthal/Huntington Beach, CA

Larry W: She had a contract and she walked out on it.

Sure, Democrats have done this sort of thing, also. But it’s wrong.

You mean like how Obama walked out on his IL Senate contract immediately after getting elected for his second term? Or perhaps how he served in the US Senate 140 some odd days before declaring his POTUS candidacy and leaving for the campaign trail?

Funny… never heard you say Obama “had a contract and walked out on it”.

Waiting, waiting, waiting….

After listening to her speech, this is my take…
An old Chicago, Nobama trick — clear the playing field of any and all rivals. If you have followed Nobama’s career, it’s obvious, Palin is receiving the same bombastic treatment (ie Jack Ryan and others). The Left spin meisters HAD her in check but not checkmate.
The Left has been assaulting Palin with verbal harassment and frivolous ethics charges. The charges have cost her and the state time and money – this is hamstringing her ability to optimally perform and could have ultimately severely diminished her political record.
She wants to take a different approach to be the most effective in influencing the country’s direction. Furtther, she does not want to start this journey on the tax payer dime (ie Nobabama — while in Illinois & US Senate was absent as he eternally campaigned for the next office — as he still is)
She will get her book out, roll her sleeves up, and grow stronger as an advocate for turning the country back to fiscal/common sense responsibility. Whether she runs for another political office, becomes a commentator, and/or activist…she CAN make a difference — and that my friends, is what I believe she said over and over again in her speech this afternoon.
She wins…she has an ability to draw crowds with her no-nonsense approach, is not afraid to speak up, and has the potential/time to do nothing but grow more influential, savvy, and polished politically…..her potential is why she has been absolutely harassed/smeared by the left….Sarah just put the Left Spin Meisters in Check–Go Sarah!!

Wow, the sexism just can’t stay put for long, can it.

She quit because she can’t take it? Really? You slobbermouths out there really believe that, or is it wishful thinking? I know it’s a DEM talking point. Girls can’t play football. Girls can’t play soldier (tell that to the girls in Tel Aviv). Girls go home crying when the going gets tough (tell that to Golda Meir or any number of other world leaders). Sarah Palin can’t take the heat (have you people ever actually been in this woman’s presence — seen how she handles the Baby Letterman’s and his ilk)?

All I can say is, you want her gone, you need to catch a few Jason movies (Friday the 13th).

You have no idea what you’re in for.

And if you think what she’s doing is not good for Alaska, well that’s their business but if you look at the political landscape up there (effectively three parties, two Republican parties and one Democrat party) and what’s likely to happen in the upcoming election cycle (this is IF Palin were to be thinking Presidential bid — leaving after 2010 — and leaving a wide-open primary), you’d know better.

Enough. Got to go. And, as with all things, we’ll know soon enough. Time trumps prognostication every time.

But, for my two drachma, Sarah Palin ain’t going anywhere. Your worst nightmare is about to come true. Or, if you care about what’s happening to your nation, perhaps your answered prayer.

MataHarley @ comment 11 —
Excellent commentary and insights.

Here’s one for fun and enjoyment…anyone remember the 2008 RNC Convention?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKgNrb3baNM&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fgopconvention2008%2Ecom%2Fvideos%2F&feature=player_embedded

Something else I realized tonite…today it is exactly 10 months to the day from the night of Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech for her VP nomination on Sept. 3, 2008.

MataHarley, you cannot compare what just happened with a declared candidacy of a presidential contender and one resigning the senate to be president elect. I have not heard much on Gov Palin, but this is out of the blue and seemingly unjustified. Many governors have run for higher office without quitting far in advance. Clinton was Gov when he was elected Pres, GW Bush was Governor when he ran, and had to resign to take on the larger role.

There is more to this story. Something does not add up. A Friday announcement on a holiday weekend to bury the story. Thank god for Michael Jackson coverage to cover up the angles.

Excuse me? Why can we not compare “a failed contract”? Is that inconvenient for you?

Just because you think it’s “out of the blue” and “unjustified” doesn’t mean it’s so. A resigned position, ending an electoral contract, to pursue another goal is just that… an unhonored contract. What difference does it make that you know what office they seek, as opposed to what they will do? I repeat: an “unhonored contract” is just that… an “unhonored contract”.

Horse manure. Try harder with your BS

Have a post I’m working on the groundwork research. But maybe you should know in advance that the political assault on Gov. Palin has… to whit… cost the Alaskan citizens over $300K in goverment costs for dismissed complaints. And there is no end to it.

Now… if you were not planning to run for re-election and would be a lame duck, PLUS costing the taxpayer unnecessary cash that distract your staff and yourself from the gig, just what would you do?

“Could you imagine if Obama had to respond, like she does, to every perceived slight or insult?”

Did you forget your sarc tag?

How could you miss Prez Man-child’s repeated whining about Fox News, Hannity, Rush, et al? Oh, he sounds soooo presidential when he whines that only 98% of the media swoon at his feet. That weenie couldn’t take 1/10th of the vicious attacks that have been leveled at her and at her CHILDREN.

@Indie Dogg

Why is calling Palin a quitter sexist? Who cares what her gender is. Using the sexism card is as boring and predictable as some Obama supporters would use the race card. Doesn’t an elected official have a duty to serve their full term? If she is going to turn her back on Alaska – then surely a reason for this (whether she is quitting politics or planning to run) would be the minimum thing she could at least do.

I wish Sarah nothing but the best and will support her for any elected office in the nation. The constant barrage of false accusations, insults and assaults on herself and her family is something that the jackals of the press should be ashamed of. I doubt if anyone could have handled that with the grace and civility that she did.

In regard to Letterman’s comments, I would have gotten several pounds of flesh, literally, had he spoke about my daughter in that manner. Anyone who was not offended by his comments has some serious moral issues. Her treatment by the Press was absolutely despicable. If the clowns in the McCain camp had issues with her, they needed to be up front about it then and there instead of the way they handled their complaints. Seeing how well they handled McCain’s campaign was obviously beyond their skill level. Slinging mud now is just how losers act.

She has every reason in the world to choose when she stepped down from being the Governor of Alaska. Everyone has their prerogatives for serving in any capacity at State or National level. I believe that she is putting her Family first and there is no shame in doing that. Anyone that thinks otherwise is speculating and would be best advised to mind their own damn business. She and her Family have been treated shabbily and America should be ashamed of that. When personal attacks are considered proper American Politics that reflects poorly on the Nation.

Comments about “taking heat” are neither appropriate or prudent. There is no justification for that trash talk. If anything it is indicative of a lack of values and character on the part of those that made that reference. The political process in my country has reached an all time low in my opinion. I would never consider soiling myself by running for elected office in this climate. I doubt if any of you would want to be subject to your lives being put under the microscope to the degree that the Palins were abused. The Palins showed America their face. The press shamelessly showed America their collective asses. Thats my take on it.

@Blast — maybe politicians SHOULD resign their office to run for another position — when they are out campaigning, they are not concentrating on the people’s business and not fulfilling the duties of their office. I personally think office holders SHOULD RESIGN to run for another or have an official proxy step in….especially with multi-year campaigns being waged.

As far as Nobama — he lived on the Illinois taxpayer dime while running for a 2nd State Senator term, US Senator, and then for POTUS…he didn’t resign. He just continued his MO of not showing up (too busy campaigning, traveling overseas–that is why people some Illinois taxpayers want to see his passport records.) When showing up either state or federal level, he too often voted present, or changed his vote to reflect the winning side. As an Illinois taxpayer, I signed multiple petitions to try and get some of his tax paid salary — returned — to the state for non-performance of duties as sworn to by an oath of office.

As far as Palin announcing her decision today — to bury the event in the news cycle??? Are you kidding?? Do you know how many tea parties/4th of July events are scheduled for tomorrow…do you know how many people (all political persuasions) will be talking about this mono e mono and en masse tomorrow???

Additionally, the announcement today gave a future date for the office hand over — there will be a lot of chatter about this for the next 3+ weeks. . .this was a courageous move, done her way and not dictated by any Spin Meisters/News Media. Truly, this was for the good of the Palin Family, Alaska, and the future of our country — Again, please read her non-teleprompter announcement…

Happy 4th of July!!!!!!! And hopefully, Many, Many, Many MORE….

“As far as Palin announcing her decision today — to bury the event in the news cycle??? Are you kidding?? Do you know how many tea parties/4th of July events are scheduled for tomorrow…do you know how many people (all political persuasions) will be talking about this mono e mono and en masse tomorrow???”

Actually, no they don’t. They’ve convinced me that they live in a parallel universe and have no idea what we really think, plan or care about. I’ve never felt the Dems to be more alien than during this past election and on. It’s almost as if the savaging of the Clintons by the Republican party has given them license to pay back and Sarah is the closest target. And yet, the “New Democrats” don’t even really like the Clintons and blame them for all their past troubles. Skitzo.

So guys, it really isn’t PMS, Post Partum Depression, or Menopause. It’s perfectly sensible. Sarah Palin just upped the ante.

I’m confused, while watching her speak,

Palin was also confused:

“No productive fulfilled people determined where to put their efforts choosing to wisely use precious time to build up — and there is such a need to build up — and fight for our state and our country and I choose to fight for it.”

If you take comments out of context from ANYONE”S public speeches — you can make any one sound confused….we knew to what she was referring. There was no teleprompter there to cue card her words.

How do you explain our Teleprompter-in-Chief, Nobama’s comments, “our constitution was written “20 centuries” ago, the “57 states with more to go” comment and “speak Austrian,” welcoming an audience twice, referencing use of a Breathalyzer for an asmatic treatment comment, his fuzzy math, his history re-writes — among his many gaffes/comments while reading from a teleprompter? So many between Nobama and the Biden Meister, someone should write one of those horrid books that used to be published every 6 months on GW’s gaffes….but then the left can’t see past the blinding halo of their Messiah…instead everyone else is fair game to the point of it being a blood sport.

Why don’t you find a REAL, honest issue to tackle? Life is too short and we are all human!!

Who said Palin “quit.” If I’m a pilot in the middle of a storm, I’d land the plane before I’d risk killing all my passengers. Does anyone doubt it was the “big machine” that was behind all of the money and time wasting mean spirited law suits?

I see Palin as being smart enough to outsmart the enemy, a move the sordid hating left didn’t see coming while they all smooze in their cozy Nantucket beach houses over the 4th.
I STILL predict if she runs, she will run as an “Indie.” In any other time it would be political suicide, but it won’t be after Obama and 3 more years of tea parties. I just can’t see her going back into the divisive Republican arena. It’s no secret that she isn’t “loved by all in that party.”

But who knows, maybe she really is calling it quits, but I tend to take people at their word. She said it was “all good.” Maybe “good” is just being a stay at home mom, and working on her book, but I doubt it.

Let’s face it; anyone who can bump Michael Jackson off the “news” is a major player for something. I’m quite certain there is more to this story. Stay tuned, this is going to be “good.”

I guess some will say the media won they hounded Gov. Palin out of office, not by attacking her policies but by shamefully attacking her family. I guess RINO McCain’s supporter(s) will say “Sarah Palin was not and is not ready for higher political office”….They are, I sincerely hope, dead wrong Sarah Palin has simply changed tactics to protect her family and at the same time levelled the playing field, she is now free (4th July is the perfect time to annouce and celebrate your freedom) to talk, travel and raise as much money as she can and at the same time gain that experience they all say she needs and if the media keeps abusing and insulting her family I hope she sues them for slander and libel….its not like they don’t deserve to get sued …right ?
Good Luck Sarah….”Sarah Cuda” is a fighter she will be back with a vengence. 🙂
.

Since she popped onto the scene, she’s been barraged by the likes of the O’faithful media and Dem thuggery, bent on running her into the ground

Oh – you forgot to mention the Republicans too…y’know the people who worked with her – those aides who called her a ‘whack-job’, a ‘diva’ and a ‘little shop of horrors’. Palin best take the knives out of her own back before we hear the usual blaming of the media etc.

Yep, way to go libbies. Everything you obviously hate in America has just resigned as Govenor of Alaska. Let’s see how she compares to your messiah:

Sarah’s husband Todd Quit 17-year BP oil job when BP became involved in natural gas pipeline negotiations with wife’s administration.

Barry’s wife Michelle was promoted and given 160% pay raise by UofC hospitals within months of husband’s election to U.S. Senate and her employer received $1,000,000.00 federal earmark, requested by husband, after her promotion.

Sarah resigned in protest from position of Ethics Commissioner of Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in order to expose legal violations and conflicts of interest of Alaska Republican leaders, including the former state Attorney General and the State GOP Chairman (who was also an Oil & Gas Commissioner), who was doing work for the party on public time and supplying a lobbyist with a sensitive e-mail.

Barry is blocking investigation into ACORN.

Sarah upset sitting Governor in GOP primary due to public support for her efforts to clean up corrupt government establishment.

Barry had his Republican opponent, who was leading in the polls, forced to leave race after unsealing of divorce records exposed a sex scandal.

Sarah gets rid of the chef.

Barry flies in a pizza chef from Chicago.

Sarah gets rid of the jet.

Barry flies one of his to New York for date night while the rest of America gives up going out for date night thanks to the economy.

Wow, you guys should be so proud. Larry, says Sarah left a contract? She ran Alaska pretty well, with many accomplishments. Barry voted PRESENT over 100 times in his short stay as junior senator from Il. Spin it however you want to libby. Sarah’s not done. Her stepping down as governor didn’t change the way I feel about her, nor many others from what I can tell. Now you idiots can’t file any ethics complaints against her and she’s free to kick your asses on a daily basis. I’m thinking win/win.

Adios Trailer Trash

Mata Note: Spoken like a true O’faithful bigot. Thanks for the demonstration of an “empty headed” and “shallow” member of the “love the one you’re with” party

@Ed: It’s not a matter of her being thin-skinned. She could not effectively respond to MSM, Dem, and RINO criticism because she was subjected to ethics complaints whenever she travelled, spoke to reporters, etc.

Her voice was silenced. And from her remote location she could not effectively act on the national stage. The most telling illustration of that is that her press conference was not even covered live by the MSM.

openid……

Sure, Democrats have done this sort of thing, also. But it’s wrong

==============================================

Kind of like Barry winning his senate seat in 2006 the immediately started campaigning for POTUS.

Isn’t that jipping the voters in IL? Wasn’t that lie by Barry?

Just a thought. The level of mobility required to begin a serious run for President in 2012, including fundraisers and interviews, would be impossible to maintain from Alaska considering the travel distance. The Governor of Alaska has difficulties in that regard that mainland governors don’t share.

I see this resignation as a definite signal of an impending candidacy. Meh, I love Sarah Palin as a person and I respect her intelligence, but she’s still behind the power curve as a national politician. I’m chagrined that Liz Cheney couldn’t overcome the drag her sexual orientation would put on her political career. I’d just love to see her as America’s President.

And Larry, I’m terribly disappointed in you. I’ve become accustomed to a higher quality of political debate from you. That comparison to a coach quitting mid-season is so lame as to qualify for a term I don’t believe fits you… stupid.
