Obama’s Intelligence Policy to Stay Largely Intact (Broken Campaign Theme #53)

Loading

CLASSIC! OMG, he hasn’t even taken office yet, and Pres-elect Obama is already demonstrating that his campaign was just sizzle-not steak. It was about taking power, not CHANGE. Remember all that complaining about secret CIA prisons, warrentless wiretapping, enhanced interrogations, and so forth? Yeah, well, turns out Barack Obama (now that he’s gotten the votes) doesn’t care about those things. In fact, he’s turning a blind eye to them, and turning a deaf ear to the leftist civil liberty groups that complain.

WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama is unlikely to radically overhaul controversial Bush administration intelligence policies, advisers say, an approach that is almost certain to create tension within the Democratic Party.

Civil-liberties groups were among those outraged that the White House sanctioned the use of harsh intelligence techniques — which some consider torture — by the Central Intelligence Agency, and expanded domestic spy powers. These groups are demanding quick action to reverse these policies.

Former National Counterterrorism Center chief John Brennan, leader of Obama’s intelligence-transition team. Mr. Obama is being advised largely by a group of intelligence professionals, including some who have supported Republicans, and centrist former officials in the Clinton administration. They say he is likely to fill key intelligence posts with pragmatists.

I was/am very much against many of the promises and political persuasions that Obama had voiced as Change during his campaign.

Perhaps now that he is getting the real skinny on what is going on, he is backing off from the radical path some. That IS what we are praying for, as we have to look to him with the respect that the Office of President holds for us as Americans.

Totally agree Scott, very well-said Eileen

LOL…seeing how he is carrying on “negotiations” with the Hamas, ummm…

it is still for us, a matter of prayer. And respect for the office he will hold. As we must respect the office we pray will endure his tenure.

But it surely is tempting to say, ” I might be standing up on the outside, but inside, I am sitting down!!!” LOL

I feel that Mr. Obama is not showing the proper respect for the current president. Mr. Obama is not sworn in yet. If he conducts himself in such a way that he would create a security risk for current policies and current soldiers. I wonder if there is a procedure out there for impeaching an incoming president who is prematurely engaging in policy and diplomatic excercises before he even has the authority to act in his official capacity. I understand that he is “eager” to finally do “something” since he wasted three years in the senate and did nothing, but don’t you find it cheeky to start acting like president before you have even been sworn in? I think he should just go home to Chicago and enjoy this holiday season. My goodness, this will be the last holiday season he will be able to enjoy with his family as a “private citizen” before he comes under fire from the press and his enemies abroad. Right now, the problems are President Bush’s problems, not his. Maybe he and his wife can do another interview for Rolling Stone or Good Housekeeping or US Weekly so that the public can be reminded again how beautiful this family is and how lucky we have the Kennedy Incarnation about to enter the office.

Interesting points Tammy. I wonder if his approval will drop below the 50% barrier after his honeymoon period (particularly given that his foreign policy is the same as Bush’s, and more than anything foreign policy is what nailed GWB’s). How will a President Obama emotionally handle going from “The One” to an unpopular President? Should be interesting.

Absolutely Tammy. Keen insight. And Obama said in his COMEDY routine at the Al Smith Dinner that he was arrogant!

But word has it that the Obamas do not celebrate Christmas, so maybe some interviews would be the suggestion for him. Maybe he can be on the cover of Oprah’s “O” mag.

Yea, he IS NOT the president yet. I know the liberal illuminati make a lot of promises that they probably won’t be able to keep but let’s give the guy a chance. If after six months of him actually being the president and all this crap is still going on then we should start complaining. But think we should give him a chance first.

And no, i didn’t vote for Obama.

obama is so out of his league. this is funny, maybe the left will now see the bad choice that they made.

From luva the scissors: “obama is so out of his league. this is funny, maybe the left will now see the bad choice that they made.”

Is it really funny? We are The United States of America. Lefts, rights, and mods…And if we find humor in their delusion, it is the same leadership that they wrongly chose that we too will suffer.

I would like us all to not get mad, but get ready. Prepare with quiet confidence and with the same value for government that made us a people of vigor and resolve to preserve our freedoms and give us courage in uncertain days.

No “I told ya so’s” can compensate for what we all will endure. Let’s try to have an effectual voice of reason that gains the trust of those who will be sorely disappointed.

The press will never desert him. They banked their reputation on him and if he falls so do they. They will continue to praise him. Just look at the First of the Sanday funnies and see an exampletheir hypocrisy.

My goodness, this will be the last holiday season he will be able to enjoy with his family as a “private citizen” before he comes under fire from the press and his enemies abroad.

That will be the day. LOL

The press will turn on him in a heartbeat. It’s their nature. Like sharks in the water when a drop of blood plops. Besides, they’re already hungry and bored. Today I saw them revive the Natalie Holloway story. That’s diggin’ the bottom of the barrel.

Why gather Intel and then leak it to the NYSlimes.

Hussein and Slow Joe got their first ‘Top Secret’ military briefing and the NYSlimes had another story out designed to get American soldiers killed.

Hussein had a private meeting/converstion with GWB and immediately the Lame Stream Media printed the content of the meeting, leaked by the Hussein regime.

If you ever considered a bomb shelter now would be a good time to build one and hide the entrance real well. Don’t tell any democrat you have it or you’ll never be able to get in it. A family of 20 criminal Mexicans will be move in.

Srcapiron… lol!
I always enjoy you humorist comments.

And BHO said McCain would be more of the same of Bush? Remember Obama is a distant cousin of Dubya & Cheney, so this shouldn’t come as too shocking. I still expect that socialist edge to be crawling in to infest the carpets, but this does cause one to pause and say, Hmmm…”

Obama is not a committed, principled Left Winger.

He’s a pragmatist, of the mold of Clinton and Nixon, but hopefully without the fatal character flaws.

His ambition is not to remake America into a socialist country. His ambition is to be the greatest President in history. Everything about his career has been self-serving pragmatism. He was a South Side Chicago politician and then a Democratic Senator from Illinois. His politics reflected his situation at each time.

Now, he’s President, and he’s not going to let campaign rhetoric stand in his way. He knows he’ll be judged in 4 years by results and not by a scorecard of which campaign promises he kept and which he didn’t. One of his goals is a Red/Blue reconciliation. He’ll govern from the center to occupy this turf and push the GOP to an extreme Right corner. This will do much more to ensure his re-election than turning the USA into a soulmate of the European Union.

Underestimate and caricaturize this man at your own peril.

– Larry Weisenthal/Huntington Beach, CA

I mostly agree Larry, but I think from a different perspective. I don’t think that he’s the kinda guy who can be President and steer his own boat. I think he’ll govern from the center (even the right on some issues) out of necessity and default rather than by choice.

From your lips to Obama’s reign, Larry. This is exactly what I meant when I said I hope the new POTUS is a major flip flopper.

But renege on his campaign promises, and he’ll be a one termer…. The precious approval ratings every one seems to hang on will be low… from his own party. Read somewhere that Hillary wasn’t ruling out a 2012 run. Against an incumbent? If true, she’s banking on his campaign lies sinking him.

Larry, you are in for a big deception! All his past extreme leftists associations that launched his campaign and made him the POTUS will not tolerate that he doesn’t realize that secret agenda they were planning for this country thru him. They won’t be around in 2012. The voters who voted for him, voted mostly for his socialize health care system, his promisses of cutting taxes and for his spreading the wealth. They will be very mad at him and won’t give him a second chance. He will screw the foreign policies and the Jews will turn against him… and so will the Muslims. When you try to govern from the center (which is not governing at all), you please no one and you upset everyone.

And I want to remind you that governing from the center is not governing at all. The Center has no values, no goal, and no soul. Governing from the Center is like driving a car on the neutral shift gear. It leads you nowhere. Your car can be full of gas and very powerful but on neutral, you go nowhere, you stagnate. This is going to be the worst POTUS of all times. The Center accomplishes nothing.

And for what you call his pragmatism, that’s a too much of a nice word to describe him. In reality, he is a manipulator that just wanted to be the most powerful person in the world by becoming the President. That’s all. It is an ego trip. He doesn’t give a dam about this country; he only gives a dam about himself. America will stagnate for 4 years… 4 years lost in the History of USA. He will solve nothing, accomplish nothing, he will just press on the gas pedal with is other foot on the clutch. That is governing from the center. A waste of time that leads you nowhere.

And while the U.S. will be on the neutral gear shift, other countries will make some moves either to the right or to the left. After this 4 years of doing nothing, America will no longer be No. 1 in this world. Wow… what a fantastic POTUS! Larry, you might be a genius in your field of work, but on politics you are very naïve.
