Oh maaaaaaaaaaaaan, here I was buying pine tree seedlings by the hundreds online, and now you’re telling me I should be buying hair spray?

rofl!

Mixed blessing, huh? We finally get to disprove the global warming hoax but it is going to come at tremendous expense to humanity, and in all likelihood the hoaxers are going to convince a number of marginal idiots that global cooling is our fault too. Darned thing about the climate is that it tends to change over a matter of years and decades, and the young and the foolish are easily subject to the next chicken little hoax.

I myself, am in my 30s and I have no recollection of the Global Cooling hoax, but by the time I was in High School they had started to sell the Global Warming Hoax as they were transitioning away from the hole in the Ozone layer and acid rain. Make no mistake, when Global Cooling comes, which it will, the same army of James Hansens and Al Gores are going to be lining up to blame human industry and first world nations for the coming Ice Age.

Hopefully whatever happens, will be quick. A quick cool down to disprove Global Warming then a quick balancing act to temper public alarm and minimize human suffering. Nature tends to be a fickle beast and could not careless about us little men and our best laid plans, but with any luck we will be able to realize a decade of sanity out of this deal.

Hey Mike, check out page 35 of the GOP 2008 party platform.

The same human economic activity that has brought freedom and opportunity to billions has also increased the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. While the scope and longterm consequences of this are the subject of ongoing scientific research, common sense dictates that the United States should take measured and reasonable steps today to reduce any impact on the environment. Those steps, if consistent with our global competitiveness will also be good for our national security, our energy independence, and our economy. Any policies should be global in nature, based on sound science and technology, and should not harm the economy.

I’d suggest you look to the Constitution Party platform:

We reject, however, the argument of the perceived threat of man-made global warming which has been refuted by a large number of scientists. The globalists are using the global warming threat to gain more control via worldwide sustainable development.

“We finally get to disprove the global warming hoax”

What are you, a goldfish ?
You can’t possibly have forgotten that the only context in which you’ve seen sun spots cited, in the side of the climate change debate you support, has been as an alternate explanation for why there are rising temperatures.

The search function here works. Here’s what you get if you search for sun spots.

GLOBAL WARMING CASE CLOSED?

Global Warming: Case Closed?

Can we assume this is the type of hoax you’re declaring now disproved ?
Somehow no, I’m guessing. And no doubt there’ll be no need for the kind of honest reassessment you would expect to see for such evidence if it was cited as a core cause of temperature increases as we see in that link. Just like there would be no need for explanation from the IPCC if worldwide CO2 levels were recorded dropping, you know, undercutting their cited cause for temperature trends. Right ?

Meanwhile, it seems dramatic global cooling has been instantly embraced as inevitable and planning is already underway for how best to deal with it, long-term temperature trends be damned. Awesome comedy.

Exactly. Because these scares are not about saving the planet but lining the pockets of Al Gore and his fellow scaremongers. Billions are taken in every year by the environmental movement due to their continuing campaign to frighten the American people.

And Fit Fit: Do you agree with every plank of the Dem Platform or will you now be voting for Ralph Nader?

Not to worry. Our models predicted this long ago and we made the proper and necessary adjustments. Global Warming will resume in no time at all. I remain confident in our ability to foresee these events, and all other events, in the future. Steady men, steady — doom is still in our collective futures.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Jim

Funny thing… it’s been on average for the past several months 10 degrees below average in the Northwest. There was August snow at Mt. Baker and Whistler-Blackcomb had August snow, which is very unusual. Earlier this year, the moonbats proclaimed that the north pole would be ice free this summer, but that is clearly false. During the winter, spring, and summer in the Northwest there were not only record lows, but record low highs. Not much of a sign for global warming.

I’ve heard all this global warming hysteria before in the 1980s. In Florida, they proclaimed that Florida will be underwater and that beaches will disappear, but over 20 years later that is not the case. As far as I can tell, Florida is still there (at least the redneck riviera still exists, thank goodness).

AL Gore says “see! I told you we would make a difference!”

Kilo, if you do your homework you would know that CO2 levels are dropping right now, as they do every year at this time. They will bottom out around November and work their way up through April where they will peak again, then work their way back down. Kinda makes me think that maybe CO2 causes the seasons to change. (sarcasm)

Anyhow given that Global Temperatures are cooler now than they were back in 1988 when Hansen gave his infamous speech to congress that we were going to reach a “tipping point” by 1998, I would reason that his past performance does not inspire a great deal of confidence. After all, Hansen was one of the kooks behind the global cooling scam back in the 1970s.

Regardless, kilo the experiment to prove or disprove the relationship between CO2, Sunspots and global climate is running right now, and there is nothing that anyone can do to stop this experiment from running its course. If it fails to get cooler, then you global warmists get to call all of skeptics fools for not being able to understand your voodoo science, but when it cooler how are you going to explain that?

Maybe you could try something like “Global Warming means Global Cooling which means Climate Change.” Oh wait, you guys are already trying that one. It might work too, there are plenty of really stupid people out there. As P.T. Barnum said, “There is a sucker born every minute.” Honestly, I give you guy about 30% odds of getting away with your hoax, but you are going to be facing a very serious problem this year of an unusually cold winter. People are pretty stupid, but they tend to remember things like Winter is Cold. Last winter was cold and the winter before that was cold. This winter is going to be even colder, and our friends in Western Europe shall not be spared this time and get to enjoy a traditional European Winter. Faced with higher fuel costs to combat a non-existent problem during a global economic slow down, what issue do you think might be the first to come under fire?

Mike,

I’d probably vote Libertarian before I’d vote Nader. I’m somewhat surprised you can shrug this off so well. I guess you’re still in denial. No pun intended.

Sorry to tell you, the article is wrong. I am a solar observer/archivist and on my site(which is the most comprehensive collection of daily solar activity on the web), a picture from the 21st shows what was a short lived active region with well defined sunspots: http://www.seemysunspot.com/solar_pics2/0821_rapavy1.jpg Paval Rapavy took the picture using a white light lens.

Stephen “Darkstar” Ames

You mean there was a teensie weensie sun spot?

OK, toss out the entire thesis that the sun’s variability has any impact on the Earth!

Stephen Ames shows a link to a picture of some spots on the sun but I don’t believe these were offically recorded as sunspots. I may be wrong but I believe I read someplace they didn’t last long enough to be officially classified as sunspots for the record.

Maybe the US government is holding off the supernova of our Sun under my direction and I decided to bring on a good old fashioned winter last year. The no sunspots is bothering me though. I think that indicates something is going very wrong with the chemistry of the Sun.

By the way I invented hurricane control several years ago. Strontium hydroxide sprayed into the clouds of a hurricane by air tankers cause the hurricane to drop to a level 1. I thought they were going to back hurricane Gustov up and run over Cuba several times. On September 1, 2008 my solar program for incoming supernova blast wave was being tested and hurricane Gustov almost fell out of the sky. The thousands of men with the marshal law plan for the United States were disappointed. Maybe next time fellows. They were hoping hurricane Gustov would strengthen to a level 5 and on another time line that would have happened. Hurricanes are a beast twice conquered by me. And I am the man of wisdom right out of the book of Revelation. The Apocalyse is 11 years old this year.

I just read a new article by David Hathaway via SC24 homepage. He said that an increase in sunspot activity does not produce any significant solar irradiation. The variation in watts per square metre is very low. I think most of us uneducated dummies know that. What he avoided to mention was the indirect affect of low sunspot numbers, i.e. more cloud cover sheltering our planet as it did in the Maunder Minimum (dark ages).

Satellite Global temperature anomalies (not the GISS rubbish) have showed a cooling trend since 1998, despite the fact that we have done nothing to reduce man made emissions. 1998 was the tip of the GISS “Hockey Stick Graph”. Our politiicans and media have been shelterd form the figures beyond 1998 for good reason.

If you look at the historical sunspot cycle pattern it is clear that the sun is overdue for a rest. The affect caused by the lack of current solar activity appears to be kicking in and is very likely to make our next few winters ones to remember. There are 32,000 very worried tax payer funded GW scientists out there at the moment

Daniel: I hope you are on our side.

I just returned from visiting Yellowstone and was struck by the devastation of the 1988 fires, which were preceeded by acute drought and record setting dry lightening. I began to wonder what solar activity occured leading up the 1988 fire storms. Solar cycle 22 started just a couple of years before that summer of drought and dry lightening. Check this out. Relative to other cycles, that solar cycle had 1) a very fast rise time – 2.8 years, 2) a very short cycle length – 9.7 years, 3) a high minimum sun spot number – 12.3, and 4) a high maximum sun spot number – 158.5
more:
“Cycle 22 certainly provided us with many highlights. Early in the cycle the smoothed sunspot number (determined by the number of sunspots visible on the sun and used as the traditional measure of the cycle) climbed rapidly; in fact more rapidly than for any previously recorded cycle. This caused many to predict that it would eclipse Cycle 19 (peak sunspot number of 201) as the highest cycle on record. This was not to be as the sunspot number ceased climbing in early 1989 and reached a maximum in July of that year. Whilst not of record amplitude, Cycle 22 still rated as 4th of the recorded cycles and continued the run of recent large solar cycles (Cycles 18, 19 and 21 were all exceptional!). A very notable feature of Cycle 22 was that it had the shortest rise from minimum to maximum of any recorded cycle.”

Not to tear you away from your reality, John A…. but all that dry lightening that may or may not have been the result of maximum high/maximum low sunspots in Yellowstone? Wouldn’t do a thing today.

Strike a match in an unkept, overgrown underbrush and it burns. Now there’s no fuel to burn in northern Yellowstone.

Mother Nature’s being using fire as a forest clean up long before man came around with his little red truck and water hoses. I rode all thru Yellowstone in 1990 (coming back from Sturgis 50th – a biker tradition is to run the park and stay for awhile if you’re headed west). Yes, the fire damage was there. But it will regenerate. I’m quite sure the “devastation” you saw recently was not nearly as striking as what I saw just years after the fire. Oddly enough, even that had an odd beauty.

Sometimes man becomes too fixated on our little miniscule spot in time, assuming all is catastrophe… when actually it is nothing more than nature, doing her thing.

If we have Global warming going on, per Al Gore, and you add to the mix a mini ice age, what will be the outcome?

I say right now, we start calling this the Al Gore Minimum! I do think it’s funny that many scientists are now hedging their bets and chaging from the Global Warming mantra, to Climate Change, because they don’t want to be left out in the cold….so to speak! And I agree with some that in a few years, old Al “the debat is over” Gore will just take his 2 CO2 and Temp graphs, that are shifted by 800 years……and he’ll just flip one of them backwards and say “See, greenhouse gasses cause global cooling!”

Question…if I had unquestionable proof that the world would end as we know it in 20 years, would I:

a) share the knowledge openly and freely to save mankind
b) make the knowledge proprietary and keep my models in a “black box”

Just curious.

Anyway, as Jimmy Doolittle said of a “climate scientist” of his day: “His assumptions exceeded his scientific abilities.”
