Yes, I know The Daily Show is a comedy. My cable guide specifically says, “A humorous slant on recent news stories.” The point Joe makes here however is that across the board, there is a liberal slant that isn’t based on kickbacks from the DNC, but (to quote his guest New York Times journalist John Harwood),
I don’t think they are hacks for the Democratic Party. People write about what’s funny to them. And the stuff that’s funny to them is, is the stuff that comes out of what they see that they want to make fun of from Republicans.
The point Harwood mistakenly makes is that yes, people in the media (from Harwood to Stewart) only see Republican “stuff” as worth covering.
Joe’s point of course is that we should all look at both sides-not just the “Republican stuff” or the “Democrat stuff.” Americans need to open their eyes, and see which side is selling the worst used cars.

Americans need to open their eyes, and see which side is selling the worst used cars.
Americans need to stop looking at everything as “sides”. It’s the us versus them mentality that’s the real problem.
The slant from The Daily Show is obvious and I don’t believe they’ve ever even tried to hide it. But Scarborough is completely wrong about them “never speaking truth to power” when it come to Democrats. Anyone who believes that doesn’t watch the show very often. Balanced? No. 100% one sided? No to that too.
Fitfit, I agree w your idea about “sides” completely. However, I don’t think the point about The Daily Show was “100%”…just predominately as is the case w Harwood and the NYT (which endorsed McCain, but is a grossly left-leaning source).
Check out this NY Times piece:
What bias? Where? Obama’s a seriously dignified, cerebral candidate with nothing to poke fun at. He never makes gaffs. That’s all. No bias.
These guys reveal the same lack of self-knowledge that jounalists have, when they claim they are non-partisan and non-biased in their reporting.
Charles Krauthammer points out just one out of many aspects of Obama worthy of lampooning:
The whole piece is a good read.
Also check out Laugh Obama Laugh.
Wasn’t that merely a primary election endorsement, with them also endorsing Hillary for the Dems?
The Daily Show jokes “he is running for coin” with the high-chinned serious pose he likes to strike while sitting on stage with someone praising him (yes, that same show we were discussing earlier).
Somebody should tell Krauthammer it’s already been announced he’s giving his Berlin speech in a different location…
Joe Scarborough, whom BTW I like, tried to make a joke about Obama and it was hopelessly sophomoric. For at least two days running, he would run the video of BHO rollling gutter balls over and over again and accompany it with a high-pitched girlish “Whe-e-e.” Give the Daily Show a chance; they’ll get to Obama.
BTW, what happened to that conservative answer to the Daily Show Fox was working on? Guess they decided their comedy roster was already full with O’Reilly and Hannity.
Krauthammer thinks Obama is narcissistic. That’s rich coming from one of the world’s most pompous men.
Scott typed:
‘Joe’s point of course is that we should all look at both sides-not just the “Republican stuff” or the “Democrat stuff.”’
That is Joe’s point and what a feeble point it is.
There are, in this great country, fortunately, more than ‘both sides’. The nation and the world is a more complicated place than your dream of a choice between ‘Republican stuff’ & ‘Democrat stuff’.
Joe does understand how important it is to keep things simple.
Very important in TV land and in far too much of the blogosphere.
Ya know, Fit… I thought it was odd you said that as I read the Krauthammer piece last night, if I remember rightly. Today was kinda a blur… But what I read was in the Investment Business Daily. That was titled “Obama hasn’t earned a place at Berlin Gate”. He mentioned in that one that the Germans were diplomatically steering him elsewhere.
Lo… behold. The Townhall piece Wordsmith linked isn’t the same. But has today’s date on it. The IBD piece seems to be more up to date, despite the previous dateline. You may enjoy that read more. He’s really in fine form on that one.
In the 7th paragraph of the IBD article
Add me to those that agree with you on the quit-with-the-sides bit. Then again, that’s why BHO and his different classes of constituents gets on my nerves.
Look, Fox tried to put on a right wing comedy show but no one wanted to watch it. QAAnd only about 10% of Americans choose to watch the only rightwing slanted news Fox during the prime time news hour. People have choices.
ROFLMAO…calling Fox News right wing slanted is a joke in itself. People who see it as a biased network are coming at it from the left so, naturally, they think it’s right wing. It’s the same perspective as Stalin calling Hitler and Mussolini right wing when, actually, they were both socialists. Fox IS balanced. No other network has as many opposing points of view on their talk shows. ALL of the FOX news analysis talk shows have more liberals as guests than any of the other networks have conservatives as guests. I watch them all and it’s frustrating to watch the MSM try to stack the deck against conservatives. The reason they do it is because liberals can’t win in the battle of ideas, as Rush likes to say. And have any of you libs seen the report that said that the Fox News employees contribute more to the democRats than to Republicans? Guess you missed that one, huh?
BTW, libs, how’s the “War on Poverty” working out for America? What’s the timetable for withdrawal? How many benchmarks have been met? How many billions, or is it trillions, are we spending on that never-ending war?

Can he back up his general advice with specifics (that make sense)? Not likely. He never has before.
