Tony Snow Dead at 53 – Update: Videos Of Tony Snow Added

I liked Tony Snow. He was a conservative, but he also seemed to be very VERY open-minded (“liberal” is supposed to be defined as ‘open-minded’), and he seemed interested in discussion rather than debate. He seemed like one of those really really nice people you’d want to be around whenever he was in the room. I also think he was the best Press Secretary any administration has had in my lifetime.

Godspeed Tony, thank you

UPDATE by Curt

As many regular readers may know, I was a big fan of Tony’s. I made lots of videos of his press briefings because I loved how he could take on the liberal media, and do it with class.

Man….Tony is going to be missed:

This one is very special. Its his first day on the job and he became quite emotional when talking about his battle with cancer. It’s a must-see:

President and Mrs. Bush Saddened by Death of Tony Snow

Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend, Tony Snow. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Jill, and their children, Kendall, Robbie, and Kristi. The Snow family has lost a beloved husband and father. And America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character.

Tony was one of our Nation’s finest writers and commentators. He earned a loyal following with incisive radio and television broadcasts. He was a gifted speechwriter who served in my father’s Administration. And I was thrilled when he agreed to return to the White House to serve as my Press Secretary. It was a joy to watch Tony at the podium each day. He brought wit, grace, and a great love of country to his work. His colleagues will cherish memories of his energetic personality and relentless good humor.

All of us here at the White House will miss Tony, as will the millions of Americans he inspired with his brave struggle against cancer. One of the things that sustained Tony Snow was his faith – and Laura and I join people across our country in praying that this good man has now found comfort in the arms of his Creator.

I cannot put my feelings into words.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

With deepest sympathy, and America can take comfort in knowing there is one more angel above us.

My prayers are with his family.

This is very sad news. He was a great guy and a great WH Press Secretary.

Tony was a great American and a breath of fresh air both at the podium and on the boob tube. I always liked watching him. He was a man of character and quick wit who always conducted himself in a gentlemanly and professional manner. I wish I had known him personally. (Would like to have jammed with his band.)

And the Kos Kids will spew the hatred in 5…4…3…2…1…

This one is especially sad for me. Tony was my favorite news broadcaster. Never missed his radio shows, and tried to catch every one of his TV appearances prior to his WH gig. His no nonsense, direct analysis never failed to wow me, and his ever polite and good humored delivery was such that those of all partisan beliefs could feel comfortable engaging him, sans animosity.

The world is truly less bright, less blessed in his absence. He is of a calibre that is unmatched by the majority of our talking heads. I’m sure his family savored every moment they had with him…. and my thoughts and prayers are with them now.

God bless him, rest him well…my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Sadly, I have seen several incredibly hateful comments about his passing — some folks on the left are just inhuman, they really have no heart.

I am only now beginning to be able to process this as ironically, I was in a political meeting today where the meeting was stopped to announce Tony’s passing and we had a moment of silence. To say I was shocked is an understatement, an so, so sad that it was hard for me to continue in the meeting. I knew he’d been ill but somehow thought he was on the rebound and doing better. I truly felt as if I’ve lost a family member…in Spirit, I think he was/is family.

There are so many words I could say when speaking about a man who was such a gentleman and so informed, intelligent and insightful on all the issues in the political realm…well, I guess I just iterated some of the many positive words describing Tony Snow. He exuded a positive attitude no matter the situation he was in, including his health decline.

I cannot say much more right now…just I will miss you terribly, Tony. What a shining example you were to so, so many people, of how we all should live.

i think mr tony snow was one of the fineness news men ever, great achor i will miss him very much, so sad to lose these young men, thanks for being there , no need to pray for you ,for you our already there. very sincierly
