Obama has been backpeddling quite a bit lately on all sorts of gaffes but this one is a doozy. I wrote yesterday about the latest scandal to hit Club Obama. This latest one? The fact that he has a person WORKING for him to find his VP who has a shady past with the company that was deep into the subprime collapse. Mr. Jim Johnson. A man who made 21 million in one year from Fannie-Mae, and received over 2 million in reduced rate loans from Countrywide.

How did Obama respond to having a corporate fatcat in his employ?

SEN. BARACK OBAMA: I am not vetting my VP Search Committee for their mortgages. You’re going to have to direct – it becomes sort of a – this is a game that can be played – everybody, who is tangentially related to our campaign, I think, is going to have a whole host of relationships. I would have to hire the vetter to vet the vetters. I mean at some point, we just asked people to do their assignments. Jim Johnson has a very discrete task, as does Eric Holder, and that is simply to gather up information about potential vice presidential candidates. They’re performing that job well. It’s a volunteer, unpaid position. And they’re giving me information, and I will then exercise judgment in terms of who I want to select as a vice presidential candidate. So these aren’t folks who are working for me, they’re not people who I have assigned to a particular job in a future administration. And ultimately, my assumption is that this is a discrete task that they are going to be performing for me over the next two months.

So lets see. They are not “tangentially” related even tho they were asked to pick your future VP?

Because they volunteered for the job that allows you to distance yourself from their shady past?

Puhlease.

And when your campaign attacked Hillary over the Penn connection to Countrywide there was never any memo that said she was planning to install him into her administration.

Weak man….weak.

The fact of the matter is you are using the services of a man who nearly ran Fannie-Mae into the ground and then received sweetheart deals from the subprime fiasco sugardaddy. He represents everything you are “supposedly” against but you see nothing wrong in using him to help pick your Vice-President candidate.

That’s swell….

McCain doesn’t think its all too swell tho:

It’s preposterous for Senator Obama to claim that the leader of his VP selection committee isn’t working for him. Barack Obama has castigated Countrywide Financial, but now that Jim Johnson has been exposed for taking sweetheart deals from Countrywide’s CEO – Obama is in a state of denial. It’s that brand of weak leadership and hypocrisy that shows why Barack Obama has no record of taking courageous stands or making change in Washington.

Watch as he tries to weasel out of his latest scandal:
