For all those lefties who believe every poll out there, what do they have to say about this one?

Forty-two (42%) of Americans Approve of the way that George W. Bush is performing his role as President. Fifty-six percent (56%) disapprove.

They were falling all over themselves when it showed 29% approval and disregarded those of us who pointed out how the Democrats were oversampled by 10+ points.

Now that this poll is a bit more even:

These Bush Job Approval results are now based upon a sample that includes 36.5% Democrats, 33.4% Republicans, and 30.1% Unaffiliated.

All of a sudden the approval rating goes up dramatically….go figure.

I have to hand it to Rasmussen, that consistently do their job fairly. They track party affiliation and then base the sample percentage on that track. The last one being:

37% Democrats, 34% Republicans

April 10, 2006–Americans today are a bit more likely to consider themselves Democrats than they did around Election Day 2004. However, the Democrats are not doing quite as well as they did in March of that election year.

These results come from Rasmussen Reports tracking surveys of 15,000 voters per month. Monthly data from January 2004 to March 2006 can be reviewed here.

Either way, this is a fair poll but do you think any of the MSM papers will lead with this story?

Sure thing.

Another percentage that jumps out at me is this:

The President earns favorable reviews from 76% of Republicans, 18% of Democrats, and 35% of those not affiliated with either major political party.

If you read the Conservative blogs you would think that there would be no way 76% of Republicans approve of Bush, thankfully most of us aren’t the kneejerk “gimme all or nothing” variety that we have seen lately.

Plus, 18% of Democrats approve? Didn’t know they existed, a Democrat who thinks for himself instead of towing the party line.
