For Conspicuous Gallantry Above and Beyond the Call of Duty

Medal of Honor

Greyhawk, at The Mudville Gazette provides the circumstances:

On 21 June 2006, SFC Monti, then a staff sergeant, was the assistant patrol leader for a 16-man patrol tasked to conduct surveillance in the Gowardesh region. The patrol was to provide up-to-date intelligence, interdict enemy movement and ensure early warning for the squadron’s main effort as it inserted into the province.

As nightfall approached, the patrol was attacked by a well organized enemy force of at least 60 personnel. Outnumbered four-to-one, SFC Monti’s patrol was in serious danger of being overrun.

The enemy fighters had established two support-by-fire positions directly above the patrol in a densely wooded ridgeline. SFC Monti immediately returned fire and ordered the patrol to seek cover and return fire. He then reached for his radio headset and calmly initiated calls for indirect fire and close air support (CAS), both danger-close to the patrol’s position. He did this while simultaneously directing the patrol’s fires.

When SFC Monti realized that a member of the patrol, Private First Class (PFC) Brian J. Bradbury, was critically wounded and exposed 10 meters from cover, without regard for his personal safety, he advanced through enemy fire to within three feet of PFC Bradbury’s position. But he was forced back by intense RPG fire. He tried again to secure PFC Bradbury, but he was forced to stay in place again as the enemy intensified its fires. Read the rest of this entry »

As much as CNN tries to cover for the Obamessiah, even they acknowledge at the end of the report that is what he is doing. And while the story is couched in terms of “both candidates are changing,” the fact is McCain has not, and is not, changing.

Maybe Obama read this Washington Post editorial last week suggesting he would have to change his position on Iraq because (dammit) we are winning the freakin’ thing. Read the rest of this entry »

In terms of protecting the American people in the Global War on Terror, George W. Bush is pitching a no-hitter. We hear that our global enemy, al-Qaeda, has effectively been defeated and there is ample news that the war in Iraq is a smashing victory.

From the Washington Post.

Less than a year after his agency warned of new threats from a resurgent al-Qaeda, CIA Director Michael V. Hayden now portrays the terrorist movement as essentially defeated in Iraq and Saudi Arabia and on the defensive throughout much of the rest of the world, including in its presumed haven along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. From the New York Times

Iran’s alleged research into designing nuclear warheads remains a matter of serious concern and needs “substantive explanations”, the U.N. nuclear watchdog said on Monday.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) also said in its latest report on Iran that Tehran had 3,500 uranium enrichment centrifuges working at its Natanz underground nuclear facility, a slightly higher number than earlier this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Last week those paragons of tolerance and harmony at Daily Kos published an image of the KKK torturing Michelle Obama. When the blowback became too much to bear, they pulled it. It’s like a suspect eating the telephone number of his drug dealer when the police arrive. The problem is, there is no paper on the internet and the guys at Little Green Footballs captured the evidence.

Well, they have been at it again. According to Kos, if you don’t vote for Obama, you deserve to be mutilated and die in the war. Read the rest of this entry »

Why The Democrat Inaction On FISA?

Posted by: Curt @ 9:09 am in NSA Wiretap's

In this post yesterday I helped show the various shady dealings going on between Nancy, Hillary, and Obama with big pharma….that evil scourge, as they enjoy likening it to. But even worse is the shady dealings going on between some Democrats and the trial lawyers that are putting our country at grave risk.

The Protect America Act FISA enhancements expired last week and now we are back to the 1978 bill that was so out of date it took special action by congress to allow it to even recognize things like email and cellphones. Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve been posting on my blog for sometime the many reasons why I will support McCain in the General election. Two big reasons. The Supreme Court and the War on Terror. today Hugh Hewitt wrote about the very real danger of a liberal President on SCOTUS:

There are seven reasons for anyone to support the eventual nominee no matter who it is: The war and six Supreme Court justices over the age of 68.

Folks who want to take their ball and go home have to realize that even three SCOTUS appointments could revolutionize the way elections are handled in this country in a stroke, mandating the submission of redistricting lines to court scrutiny for “fairness.”

McCain’s Speech On Iraq

Posted by: Curt @ 5:06 pm in John McCain

My god! What a speech by McCain today on Iraq:

While I disagree with this man on many political issues, feeling the McCain-Feingold act was something for which he can never be forgiven, on Iraq and the war on terror I have no disagreement with him.

Bill Kristol made the statement on John Gibson’s show today that McCain should suspend his campaign and go out and push for victory in Iraq, at least until after September, and then re-start his campaign. It may very well invigorate the campaign that is imploding. (h/t Hot Air)

That jackass message needs to be said over and over and over again. The same Senate that unanimously voted for Gen. Petreus, who wanted a new strategy and received a new strategy, who decided September was a good date to pick for an update, now wants to pull the plug in July.

Why?

For politics.

Republican cowards who will never measure up to Bush are running for cover to save their hides. They have no backbone, no courage, no conviction. They have to understand that cutting and running will be a disaster, just like McCain said of Vietnam above, for Iraqi’s and Americans alike.

The one thing that I respect the most about Bush is that no matter what the political consequences are he does what he feels is right. He doesn’t waver like the wind with the polls.  While I disliked his stance on immigration I understood what I was getting on the issue in 2000 and respect that he stuck to his guns. I respect any politician like that.

Sadly, some Republicans in the Senate are once again proving that you cannot trust them….they will sell out any cause, or any person to save their jobs.
