This Week’s Events 3/27/2011 [Reader Post]

Egyptian television people are beginning to say that the Muslim Brotherhood have taken over the Egyptian revolution, and the revolutionary youth have been replaced by bearded men with guns.

A group of Muslims attacked Ayman Anwar Mitri, a 45 year old Christian Coptic man in the Upper Egyptian town of Qena, cutting off his ear. The Muslims claimed they were applying Sharia law because Mr. Mitri allegedly had an illicit affair with a Muslim woman. Mr. Mitri, a low grade administrator at a secondary school, from elHasweya, in Qena, 492 KM from Cairo, had rented his flat to two Muslim sisters, Abeer and Sabrin Saif Al-Nasr, through an agent. After nine months he learned the sisters had been indicted for prostitution, so he asked them to leave and they did.

What did the President know and when did he know it? [Reader Post]

“The Fast and the Furious” was a gun-running program that allowed thousands of AK-47′s to enter Mexico from the United States ostensibly to allow tracking of their movements. At the same time it allows the AK-47′s to go into Mexico, it is the policy of this administration to arm border patrol agents with bean bags as their first line of defense against AK-47′s.

Such policy got border patrol Brian Terry agent killed in December. Terry was killed with one of the assault rifles that this administration sent into Mexico.

If hypocrisy was a crime, Democrats would be looking at the death penalty [Reader Post]

The words uttered by Democrats over the last few weeks are nothing short of mind boggling in their flaming hypocrisy and the more they speak the worse it gets. Some are on the edge of comical, but many are worth revisiting.

Let’s start with Howard Dean:

The next Afghanistan? [Reader Post]

In 1979 Afghanistan was in the middle of a civil war when it was invaded by the Soviet Union. The Russians found a most formidable adversary in the Mujahideen. Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan referred to the Mujahideen as “freedom fighters” and both Presidents covertly supplied the Mujahideen with arms and aid in effort to help them defeat the Red Menace. The Russians were unable to conquer the Afghans and finally withdrew in 1989. Most of us applauded the defeat of the Russians. During the war, the best of the Afghan fighters- the Taliban- gained control of the country and instituted strict Islam in the wake of the war. One of the Mujahideen-Taliban was named Osama Bin Laden. Bin Laden got around to thanking the US for its efforts in liberating Afghanistan in September of 2001.

Why you’re an idiot to believe anything Barack Obama says [Reader Post]

Jim Geraghty said that all of Barack Obama’s statements come with an expiration date, and frequent readers of FA know I cite that all the time. Truer words were arguably never written. There is simply no question that Obama is an inherently dishonest man and events prove it time and time again. In a previous post it was shown that Senator Obama would have sought the impeachment of President Obama. This could be called Part II but it’s more than that. It just keeps getting worse.

Harry Reid [defending federal funding for NPR]: “They had a great piece on public radio before the race started; it was really very, very good, about why the [sled dog] race takes place.”

Nancy Pelosi: “Democrats have long fought for fiscal responsibility as a top priority of this Congress.  We won’t go into the history right now, but it’s well known.”

Obama’s Surge in Foreign Oil Dependence Program [Reader Post]

As Glenn Reynolds might say, “They told me that if I voted for John McCain the US would become even more dependent on foreign oil and they were right.”

Following the Deepwater Horizon disaster, Barack Obama put a moratorium on deep water drilling. Then he extended the moratorium and delayed the sales of oil leases in Alaska.

Federal Courts overturned the original moratoriums and Obama went ahead and issued another moratorium and has ignored the Court rulings since then.

It’s 3 A.M. Do you know where your President is? [Reader Post]

Finally.

Barack Obama finally got around to taking a position. Now that the dust is settling in Libya, Barack Obama is taking a position. This is exactly the same as he’s done for his entire career.

And the position he’s finally gotten around to taking is Sarah Palin’s. She got there on February 23.

Say What? 3/14/2011 edition [Reader Post]

News reporter Chris Matthews on the Japan disaster: “Was this sort of a good opportunity for the President to remind everybody that he grew up in the United States and Hawaii?  That’s the first thing that I thought of.”

Senate leader Harry Reid on the Republicans budget which cuts too much from the budget: “The mean-spirited bill, H.R. 1, eliminates National Public Broadcasting.  It eliminates the National Endowment of the Humanities, National Endowment of the Arts. These programs create jobs. The National Endowment of the Humanities is the reason we have in northern Nevada every January a cowboy poetry festival. Had that program not been around, the tens of thousands of people who come there every year would not exist.”
