Trayvon Martin’s killer showed signs of injury: neighbors

Neighbors of George Zimmerman say he had bandages on his nose and head the day after he shot dead Trayvon Martin, supporting statements by the neighborhood watch volunteer that he was beaten in a confrontation with the black Florida teenager.

The extent of Zimmerman’s injuries could be crucial to his legal defense under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” self-defense law, which allows the use of deadly force when someone has the reasonable belief he could face death or great bodily harm.

Police said Zimmerman, who has been charged with second-degree murder in the racially charged case, was bleeding from the nose and the back of his head and was treated by medics before being taken to Sanford police station after the February 26 shooting.

But public doubts were later raised by the release of a grainy surveillance video from the police station in which no injuries were readily visible.

Zimmerman later sought medical treatment for injuries including a broken nose, his former lawyers have said.

Jorge Rodriguez, Zimmerman’s next-door neighbor, told Reuters that when he saw Zimmerman the day after the incident, “he had two big, butterfly bandages on the back of his head, and another big bandage…on the bridge of his nose.” He was talking to a police detective in his driveway.

Rodriguez’s wife Audria also said she saw the bandages and a third neighbor, who spoke only on condition of anonymity, agreed with the Rodriguez couple’s account. “I saw two bandages on the back of his head, and his nose was all swollen up,” said the witness, who had watched from a nearby second-floor window.

The neighbors spoke to Reuters on Sunday and Monday, saying they felt they owed him their public support after he was charged with second-degree murder.

I thought that the law required that exculpatory evidence be taken into account.
Seems this special prosecutor sent a flag up a political pole to cool things down.
But even if she hasn’t got a strong case Zimmerman could wind up behind bars for years through jury nullification.

Timing is everything.

This case now in the legal system—let it stay there.

Notice how even this report plays the race card with a race neutral “George Zimmerman” who shot a “black” Florida teenager?

And I have only read one opinion that says the affidavid submitted by the Special Prosecutor was sufficient. Most, from the far left Dershowitz to the far right Mark Levin, have said that the affidavid showing “probable cause” was a disaster, bordering prosecutorial misconduct. No one has said that the affidavid meets the burden of proof for a 2nd degree charge.

But Obama needs a racial scandal to feed the troops. With 14% unemployment amoung young blacks (16-30) he has to give them some red meat to chew on, so enter Al Sharpton, and the head of the Department of Just-Us, Eric Holder who praises Sharpton for Sharpton’s “partnership” in race relations.

The only “opinion” that matters as to the sufficiency of the Affidavit of PC is that of the judge. Game over. Other legal analysts opinions serve no tangible value. It goes to trial and is run thru the justice system. It’s now up to the prosecution to prove it’s summary conclusions. If you’re all so confident that’s impossible, then you may celebrate Zimmerman’s freedom with a contribution to his FB funding, or whatever he ends up setting up. And I’m so sorry that so many conservatives now find our judicial system a moral inconvenience.

There is no “alleged” about it. Zimmerman killed, and admits to killing Martin. In case you all need a reminder, Martin is the victim in this case, not Zimmerman. Martin is dead at the hands of Zimmerman, and now it’s up to the prosecution to prove that the killing was tantamount to second degree murder. He’s not a “victim”. He’s a man on trial for committing a possible crime in the eyes of the State of Florida. Happens all the time, all over the nation, daily.

Tho I’m sure many will come back with emotional pleas that Zimmerman has been a “victim” of the media.

First, that’s unrelated to the specifics of a possible criminal killing and the trial. But I’m sure many will find that a sufficient “straw man” to cast Zimmerman as the victim, and not Martin.

Secondly, Martin has also been a “victim” of the media, with assaults made on his character as well. Need examples? Check the FA archives…

Thirdly, the entire nation has been a “victim” of those attempting to play this for politics and power. And that includes the right as well as the left. Also plenty of examples right here on this forum and blog posts.

Lastly, gun rights and self defense will be the most hapless victim, not even getting legal representation when it goes “on trial” with Zimmerman, as the feds seek to get involved in state’s self defense laws.

This case is in the hands of the judicial system, just as it should be. Quit the hand wringing, celebrate our system, and get over it.

Shouldn’t that be “alleged killer”?

Shouldn’t that be “alleged killer”?

Based on what?

Is there any doubt or dispute that Zimmerman killed Martin?

who is protecting their protector, they let him down because
they listen to their color only, they deserve to be mug and rob by their own kids,

MATA
IT’S NOT THAT EASY TO DROP ZIMMERMAN, BELIEF OF INNOCENCE, WHEN ONE FEEL IT IN THE GUTTS THAT HE IS THE VICTIM BY BEING CHARGED, AND YOU ARE TALKING LIKE A PROCECUTOR LAWYER
WHICH YOU ARE A LAWYER YOURSELF,
BUT I keep thinking of his release from the first logic of police officer finding him innocent from the first questionning, and hell broke loose when the BLACK ACTIVIST WENT ON A BOUNTY INTIMIDATION
WEIRD IS IN IT, THAT EVERY THING SWICH FROM THAT POINT INTO THAT PEACEFULL TOWN,
THERE IS NO WAY TO SEE WHO INFLUENCE THE DISRUPTION AND WHO INCITED THE YOUNG BLACKS TO COMMIT OTHER CRIME SHOUTING FOR TRAYVON REVENGE.
AND SUDDENLY YOU KNOW THAT ZIMMERMAN IS BEING TAKEN AS A SACRICIAL LAMB
TO CALM DOWN THE HUNGRY BEAST
