The Moral Rot at the Core of Planned Parenthood Is on Full Display

Ian Tuttle:

Forget Limousine Liberals. Mary Gatter is a Lamborghini Liberal. Or wants to be.

Gatter, medical director of Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles, is the subject of a second video exposé, released Tuesday morning, by the Center for Medical Progress. At the end of an hour-long conversation, a not insignificant portion of which involves Gatter haggling over prices for “specimens” — fetal remains — with two actors posing as interested buyers, Gatter says, “Let me just figure out what others are getting, and if this is in the ballpark, then it’s fine, if it’s still low, then we can bump it up. I want a Lamborghini.”

To quote a Twitter wag: “Lamborghini. It really does cost an arm and a leg.”

Acknowledging that Lambos are harder to price out than Nissans, Gatter is looking at a cool $200,000 — minimum — for the “affordable” 2014 Gallardo LP550-2 Coupe. But, as Gatter says of her fetal financing plans, “It has to be big enough that it’s worthwhile for me.” Which suggests that she’s not the type to settle.

So perhaps Gatter should go for the high end (she is against “lowballing,” after all): the Aventador LP720-4 50th Anniversario, a limited edition — only 200 of these beauties rolled off the line — created in 2013 to mark a half-century of high-octane art. MSRP: from $497,650. Stability control, self-leveling headlights, gullwing doors, 0 to 60pm in 3.1 seconds. This is a prime machine for leaving all vestiges of moral decency in the dust.

Which — setting aside the moral questions that attend slaughtering children in utero and retailing their organs — Planned Parenthood seems eager to do. Note the astonishing admission Gatter makes mid-conversation:

Let me explain to you a little bit of a problem, which may not be a big problem. If our usual technique is suction, at 10 to 12 weeks, and we switch to using an IPAS [manual vacuum aspirator] or something with less suction, in order to increase the odds that it will come out as an intact specimen, then we’re kind of violating the protocol that says to the patient, “We’re not doing anything different in our care for you.” Now, to me, that’s kind of a specious little argument, and I wouldn’t object to asking Ian — who’s our surgeon who does the cases — to use an IPAS at that gestational stage, in order to increase the odds that he’s going to get an intact specimen.

Since, according to federal law (and several state codes), “no alteration of the timing, method, or procedures used to terminate the pregnancy [may be] made solely for the purposes of obtaining the tissue,” this would seem something more than “a little bit of a problem.” Not to mention that Planned Parenthood’s shtick about putting women’s health first would seem to be undermined by the organization’s lying to them for its own material gain. Then again, is it any shocker that an organization happy to hawk baby livers is willing to go wobbly on its contract obligations? Of course not. Whatever other good work Planned Parenthood may do — pap tests, HPV vaccinations, urinary-tract infection treatments, etc. — the moral rot at its core has become inarguable.

If it wasn’t such a gruesome subject, it would be entertaining just hearing the spin and lame excuses offered up by leftists defending one of the cornerstones of their ideology; death for convenience (not to mention making a profit off it).

And these are the people that love to lecture on sympathy for others.

@Bill: And these are the people that love to say “lives matter” Seems as if the ending of lives is important to their pocketbooks.
