‘Operation Destroy the GOP’ … Welcome to the Republican catastrophe.

Jonah Goldberg:

If understatements were a capital offense, I’d hang for saying, “Things are not going well for the GOP.” (If some of the trolls in my Twitter feed have their way, I will hang regardless.)

So, congrats to those of you deserving congratulations. Operation Destroy the GOP and Salt the Earth upon Which It Stood is going swimmingly! Technically, that would be ODGOPSEUWIS, but let’s call it ODGOP (pronounced “Odd-Gawp”) for short.

The final phase of ODGOP kicked into high gear on Thursday. Prior to last night’s speech, President Obama had largely played along with the Clinton strategy of isolating Trump from the rest of the GOP. Obama in early August:

This is different than just having policy differences. I recognize that they profoundly disagree with myself or Hillary Clinton on tax policy or certain elements of foreign policy, but there have been Republican presidents with whom I disagreed with but I didn’t have a doubt that they could function as president. I think I was right and Mitt Romney and John McCain were wrong on certain policy issues, but I never thought that they couldn’t do the job.

But Thursday in Ohio (of course), Obama turned the knife like it was a Phillips-head screwdriver wielded by Otto von Tendorp, a fictional serial killer who kills his opponents with a Phillips-head screwdriver he turns very slowly.

“You claim the mantle of the party of family values, and this is the guy you nominate,” Obama said.

From there, it got worse.

From the Washington Post:

“But so the problem is not that all Republicans think the way this guy does. The problem is, is that they’ve been riding this tiger for a long time,” Obama said, referring to those who questioned whether he was born in the United States, those who called him “the antichrist” and subscribers to other conspiracy theories. “They’ve been feeding their base all kinds of crazy for years, primarily for political expedience.”

“People like Ted [Strickland]’s opponent, they just stood by while this happened,” Obama said, referring to [Republican senator Rob] Portman. “And Donald Trump, as he’s prone to do, he didn’t build the building himself, but he just slapped his name on it and took credit for it.”

“This is in the swamp of crazy that has been fed over and over and over and over again,” Obama said to applause. “So the point is, if your only agenda is either negative — negative is a euphemism, crazy — based on lies, based on hoaxes, this is the nominee you get. You make him possible.”

Now, I’m happy to disagree with some — and just some — of this. It’s not like the Left’s base isn’t fed its own brand of crazy from time to time either. It’s not true that birtherism is all the GOP has been about. It’s not like Obama is exempt from blame for this sorry state of affairs after spending his whole presidency trolling his political opponents and defying constitutional norms. And it’s certainly not true, as he said last night, that the “central principle” of the Republican party is to “make it harder to vote.” That’s ridiculous, irresponsible rhetoric.

But the point here isn’t to rebut Obama on the merits. Less than a month out from the election, arguing with Obama makes about as much sense as challenging my cat to a game of Battleship (first of all, she cheats, as befits her feline nature). The point is it’s all fair game.

WAHHH, THE MEDIA

But let me concede a few things. Yes, the Mainstream Media (MSM) is biased against Republicans. This has been true since, if not the Mesozoic Era, then at least 1960. Yes, the media is particularly biased against Donald Trump. But this is not quite the outrage Trump’s spinners want to make it. Not only is Trump an exceptionally unworthy presidential candidate on the merits, but he does everything he possibly can to maximize the endemic problems of liberal-media bias. Thanks to his lizard-brain narcissism, he would rather have awful headlines about himself and be the center of attention than have Hillary Clinton steal the limelight. LBJ liked to say, “Let’s not step on our d**ks” on this or that issue. Trump is like one of those Italian barefoot peasant women who make wine by stomping on grapes all day, except instead of grapes it’s d**ks as far as the eye can see and Trump is wearing very expensive shoes.

Yes, absolutely, the WikiLeaks e-mails provide countless vulnerabilities that might have destroyed Hillary’s candidacy if she were running against any conventional Republican. But it’s not liberal-media bias per se that causes the press to pay outsized attention to tales of sexual misconduct; the press always pays attention to sex. The Lewinsky scandal got a lot of media attention. You could look it up.

It was inevitable and obvious that this lecherous adulterer who bragged in print about cheating on his wife would have these skeletons in his enormous, gold-and-velvet-lined closet. But no one needed to be a master sleuth or even a run-of-the-mill opposition researcher to know this. You know why? Because this guy said so! When accused of being a sexual predator by Howard Stern, Trump said, “That’s true!” — and then he laughed (in front of his daughter, whom he has affectionately called “a piece of ass”). Trump has told little girls that he would be dating them soon. If you want to write that all off as jokes, fine. Well, he also said that he couldn’t run for political office because of his attitude toward women:

so where is whore dog billy, howard strern and all the drudge groping male actors in this country? how many actors have cock hold children by mistresses, or the rapes from actors??
discuss the real issues facing this country and not 11 year old locker room garbage. the lesbian will not last four years and the idiot kane is a monkey on a short demorat leash.

Don’t try to pin Donald Trump on Obama, Clinton, or the “lamestream media.” The GOP brought this one entirely on itself. They cultivated an environment of distrust and hostility with the intention of politically exploiting it themselves, unmindful of the risk that someone like Trump could come along and seize control of it for his own purposes.

The Republican Party now has a runaway presidential candidate who doesn’t care if he burns that party to the ground. He has convinced his supporters that they need to burn down the barn to get rid of the rats, and he imagines rats in every barn he sees, including the one he supposedly represents. His campaign rhetoric no longer bothers to give even a passing nod to real issues. It’s 100 percent polemic, 100 percent of the time, and the crowds are cheering and chanting at every full stop. I’m not sure where he’s headed with his increasingly vehement assertions that the election has been rigged against him and that his followers have to do something about it, but it’s dangerous, irresponsible talk. The fact of the matter is that he has become his own worst enemy, assuming his goal was to convince enough people to vote for him to win the election.

Well I don’t think you have to be crazed to see the election is being rigged. The whole FBI investigation was a farce from the top down and you know it. The cherry on the top was finding out the immunity deals made with the Clinton bunch. Deals that prevented anyone involved in crimes were protected from the start and then they destroyed the evidence/laptops. All of the details so carefully hidden until Trey Gowdy requested them. The length the administration went to ensure her winning at all cost is just staggering to me. I am more depressed about this than anything. Lies, obstruction of justice, collusion at the highest levels of our country. It is blatant and “people have ears but they do not hear and eyes but they do not see.” This is far, far worse than Watergate.

And it is the GOP’s fault it has all came to this. They roll over like dogs and did nothing the past 8 yrs. I am in favor of blowing up Washington myself. Those in office, and there are some good exceptions, are guilty for not standing up for the people they represent. They care only to keep their own gravy train going and the same elite, out of touch, people all caught up in the dance for power and money. They make just enough effort to keep their jobs and not ruffle any feathers. The Republican Party establishment does need to change. This big old Elephant needs to go on a rampage and clear out the house of old wood blaring the news from that trunk. Make a new conservative party that actually does something, looks at doing things in a different way, has the ability to be clear about their objectives and methods to get there. Make the party relevant for today. Make it the people’s party. They were not listening to the voters or the
surge of Trump would never have happened. The party needs some Real Leaders. Why are the politicians all lawyers now? That would be a good place to start. Change how business is done. I have no specific ideas on how to do that, but I am sure some new blood and truly dedicated current representatives can figure out something! They are stuck in the mud of their own making. Will they continue to waller in the mud like pigs for be an Elephant?

This is not a responsible message, and it’s not coming from a responsible citizen.

There’s nothing “rigged” about the election. The election process isn’t under the control of any one person, organization, or party, nor are the balloting and tabulation systems uniform. Elections are regulated and managed at a state level.

A majority of voters simply aren’t buying what Trump is selling. All of the polls have been showing that his support has been slipping for weeks. Clinton is presently 6.7 points ahead in the Real Clear Politics national poll average. It’s hard to find any recent poll result that shows Trump ahead. What he would need to do to turn that around, he’s not doing. He doesn’t show any interest in such an effort. He seems to have something else in mind. The rigged election claim is part of his transition to that.

@Greg:

Bill and Hillary Clinton profess to have always been supporters of racial equality, but anecdotes published in a new book by his ex-lover claim otherwise.

Hillary was heard calling mentally challenged children ‘f*****g ree-tards’ and caught on record blurting out the terms ‘stupid k**e and ‘f***ing Jew b*****d’, while Bill called the Reverend Jesse Jackson a ‘G**damned n****r’.

@Greg: I disagree. Yes the election process as it is supposed to operate is not rigged. It is only rigged because Hillary was protected as I said in my comment. It was a conspiracy with Obama, DOJ, FBI, and Pres. Clinton to keep her as their chosen nominee. The whole legal process was corrupt. That just disgusts me. If she was investigated honestly with integrity by all, she would not be eligible to hold office. It is the worst kind of abuse of power and has no place in our country. If she was removed from contention as the nominee perhaps someone else much better than these 2 candidates would be running. I can’t believe it has come to this.

@July 4th American. #6:

Dolly Kyle claims to be Bill Clinton’s long-term mistress, and also claims he’s had 2,000 sex partners. He was also married, the Governor of Arkansas for 11 years, and President of the United States for 8 years. Then, of course, his criminal empire must keep him very busy. There’s church on Sunday, and he still somehow finds time to play golf regularly and give speeches.

I wonder how he worked her into his schedule?

@Greg:

Clinton settled out of court and paid Paula Jones $900k for sexually harassing her.

Clinton was impeached (though not removed from office because of spineless GOP senators) and disbarred for lying under oath about sodomizing a female employee (young enough to be his daughter) with a cigar in the White House. It took his seminal DNA on Lewinsky’s dress to get him to admit the truth.

Both of these instances of Clinton’s sexually predatory nature give ample credence to the rape allegations from Broaderick, and the groping allegations of Willey. Yet dems excuse Clinton (and Hillary’s enablement and cover up actions) while shrieking hypocritically about Trump’s locker room vulgarity and demonstrably false, politically timed charges of sexual harassment coming from women who either consequently asked Trump for business help or have been shown to have ties to the corrupt Clinton crime organization posing as a charity. There is currently a young man from Arkansas claiming to be Clinton’s out-of-wedlock son, which the MSM is desperately refusing to cover. Are you going to claim with a straight face that if someone claimed to be Trump’s illegitimate child the MSM would not be shrieking from the rooftops, demanding Trump submit to a paternity test?
Hillary’s corruption makes her unfit for the Oval Office, compounded by her suspected Parkinson’s disease, and her stated intent to continue the economic, environmental, tax-increasing, medical , gun control, illegal immigrant amnesty and pro-muslim insanity of the Obama regime.

Trump’s latest unfounded charge has Clinton on drugs

Donald Trump’s latest unsubstantiated salvo against rival Hillary Clinton charges she might have been on drugs during their last debate and challenges her to join him in undergoing a pre-debate drug test ahead of their third and final clash.

Right. Maybe they should provide urine samples on live television.

The man has popped his cork.

@Greg:

Given the known health conditions of mrs clinton, a reasonable individual would not and can not rule out the possibility that she was under the influence of something in order for her to endure the time requirement of the debate. I noticed she had difficulty standing for periods in excess of two minutes or more. Always back to the chair to rest the heavy weight package at her mid level….

Reminded me of this;

Hillary’s Parkinson’s Can’t Hide – Even at the Debate

@Greg:

The Republican Party is not healthy as a political party and has been for longer than this current cycle. Their 1992 abandonment of Conservative governing principles foreshadowed this demise. Their chartered course has left the party on a path to become synonymous with the democrat party. The base has seen this for decades but optimistically felt the ship could be righted. The mid term election of 2010 and 2014 have told us otherwise and when the republican DC power structure target conservative members and in turn conservative incumbents, it is clear the representation of the party for its base has been waning.

But, all is not well within the democrat party, in a moment of actual journalism, a democrat speaks and is allowed to speak the truth……

Saturday, MSNBC political analyst and former Ohio State Sen. Nina Turner (D) discussed the WikiLeaks emails that show the Hillary Clinton campaign’s disdain for fellow Democrats, as well as recruiting “needy Latinos.” Turner said that the Democratic party will need to heal because the emails were actually written by Democrats about fellow Democrats. “I believe that the Democratic party, when all of this is said and done, will have to deal in a very deep way with the healing process, because the fact of the matter is that the hackers didn’t write the emails,” Turner explained. “We’re dealing with people who talked about needy Latinos. We’re dealing with people who said things about African-Americans and others. Heck, I’m even in the emails, as well. I can tell from you reading the ones that I’ve seen so far with my name in them, the Russians didn’t write those emails. They were by the people within the Clinton camp.”

Don’t use the word conspiracy, but think about it. Several weeks ago Hillary Clinton got on her holier-than-thou camel and announced that women who are raped should be believe. True, however, why would Hillary Clinton of all people start this hype. Consider that her husband, the former president Bill Clinton, was forced to pay $700,000.00 to one of his victims and has had many accusations of molesting women.

And this was some months or weeks ago. I believe that she/they were getting ready for the eventual tirade of lies against Donald Trump. Yes, even from way back when. Because there is no way a presumably smart woman would say such a thing knowing full well that her own husband, slick Willie, would be a possible target of her comments and Bill’s victim accusers.

And so you have here, crooked Hillary caught in the act. She is as demonic as she can be. The current Wikileaks show that she and her minions cannot be trusted. Lord help us. She will never win the election.

@AdrianS, #13:

And so you have here, crooked Hillary caught in the act. She is as demonic as she can be. The current Wikileaks show that she and her minions cannot be trusted. Lord help us. She will never win the election.

Why would anyone assume Wikileaks—an organization that makes a routine practice of stealing and distributing classified government documents and sensitive private information at the whim of Julian Assange—can be relied upon to be honest about anything?

The right has ceased to make sense. They’ve embraced the candidacy of a guy who is devoid of core conservative principles and is reducing their political party to rubble as they watch. They think Vladimir Putin is some sort of role model for world leaders, and that enemies of their own government like Julian Assange are somehow their friends. They think Hillary Clinton should be held accountable and punished for her husband’s infidelity, while another white male philanderer who has publicly bragged about his sexual misconduct should be elevated to the presidency. They hate Obama, who—if nothing else—could serve as the role model for a traditional husband and father. (A lot of people seem to have missed the fact that he’s an authentic, unpretentious, and genuinely good person. That was their loss.)

Trump is where he’s at because he reflects this craziness. He proclaims it from a podium, as if it actually made some sort of sense. I think most people recognize that it doesn’t. At the very least, Clinton is the alternative to lunacy. You can have a lot of things in the Oval Office and get by with them, but lunacy isn’t one of them.

Fears mount on Trump’s ‘rigged election’ rhetoric

“No one knows how to handle what might be about to hit on Nov. 9.
Donald Trump is laying the groundwork to lose on Nov. 8, refuse to concede the election, and teeter the country into an unprecedented crisis of faith in government. Republicans and Democrats, in Washington and beyond, fear that the aftermath of the 2016 election will create a festering infection in the already deep and lasting wound that the campaign is leaving on America.”

The only consolation would be knowing that he could have done vastly more harm as the winner than as the loser. How do people not see what is obvious, and right before their eyes? How did this guy ever make it through the republican primaries?

Donald Trump Intensifies His Claim That Campaign Is ‘Rigged’

“The election is absolutely being rigged by the dishonest and distorted media pushing Crooked Hillary — but also at many polling places — SAD,” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

Mr. Trump’s made his incendiary claim just hours after his running mate, Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana, had tried to play down the Republican nominee’s increasingly heated questions about the fairness of the election. Mr. Pence said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he and Mr. Trump “will absolutely accept the result of the election.”

Mr. Pence should tell that to Donald Trump. Trump would probably withdraw his support of his running mate. Pence is probably walking on thin ice already:

Officials Fight Donald Trump’s Claims of a Rigged Vote

WASHINGTON — Republican leaders and election officials from both parties on Sunday sought to combat claims by Donald J. Trump that the election is rigged against him, amid signs that Mr. Trump’s contention is eroding confidence in the vote and setting off talk of rebellion among his supporters.

In a vivid illustration of how Mr. Trump is shattering American political norms, the Republican nominee is alleging that a conspiracy is underway between the news media and the Democratic Party to commit vast election fraud. He has offered no evidence to support his claim.

That’s because there is no evidence to be offered.

Why else is Obama the Fink opening our borders and brining in so many so called refugees so they can keep the demac-RATS in power and in office

What? What are you saying? Maybe you need a simpler message, or more repetition.

And what was that part about pushing completely false allegations and outright lies in an effort to elect somebody president? Who would ever do that?

The demac-RATS will do anything to hold onto power and they have the lap-dog press and talking heads as their partners in crime
