Obama Official – ‘The War on Terror Is Over’

Loading

In the wake of the Arab Spring, the Obama administration is grappling with how to handle Islamists, radical adherents to Islam. Particularly, the issue has come to the fore in regards to Egypt, which, as Reuel Marc Gerecht notes, “is now certain” to elect “an Islamist” as its leaders the next time the Egyptian people go to the polls.

But some in the Obama administration are now seeing things differently.

The war on terror is over,” a senior official in the State Department official tells the National Journal. “Now that we have killed most of al Qaida, now that people have come to see legitimate means of expression, people who once might have gone into al Qaida see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism.”

This new outlook has, in the words of the National Journal, come from a belief among administration officials that “It is no longer the case, in other words, that every Islamist is seen as a potential accessory to terrorists.”

The National Journal explains:

The new approach is made possible by the double impact of the Arab Spring, which supplies a new means of empowerment to young Arabs other than violent jihad, and Obama’s savagely successful military drone campaign against the worst of the violent jihadists, al Qaida.

For the president himself, this new thinking comes from a “realiz[ation that] he has no choice but to cultivate the Muslim Brotherhood and other relatively ‘moderate’ Islamist groups emerging as lead political players out of the Arab Spring in Egypt, Tunisia and elsewhere.”

what crap…We have yet to see the collateral events from the hit on Osama. Terrorism does go away.

Has anyone old the terrorists?

Did I hear someone say “Cheeseburger Eating Surrender Monkeys?”

Considering that the various factions, such as AQ or the Taliban for that matter, have not sat down and publicly agreed to any form of cease fire this declaration by this offical is appeasement garbage that’ll fall on deaf ears on the enemy side. All it’ll translate to the opposite side of this fight is we’re going to expose softer targets in the future, and this is madness.

Bruce Hoffman, Martha Crenshaw, Robert Pepe, Waltz, Adam Dolnik have all written very excellent reviews on terrorism. They are very informative authors. Maybe John Clapper should read them. opei is too stupid to understand that the “war” will not be over in this generation or the next. Muslim idealism is to bury the West. The war is over because opie is over. Smile America 16, separate, non communicating, good old boy intelligence agencies know as the intelligence community(IC) is protecting you. A means of intelligence gathering is in the form of social intercourse-your turn. Ever wonder whey his form of intelligence gathering is not investigates? Oh! because they are not the secret service.

This is scary, very scary indeed.

OBAMA must be very close to the TERRORISTS to get that first scoop,
they are definitly engage in promises together,
but the MILITARIES ARE STILL SEEING A LOT OF THEM,
that’s why they chose to take picture and send it to NEWSPAPER,
THEY ARE TELLING IT THE BEST WAY THEY CAN
TO AMERICAN STILL ADORING OBAMA

Opie is a terrorist.

It should not surprise anyone that the current pro-Palestinian/Muslim regime in Washington would proclaim the end of TGWOT after telling us in March,2009, that it was really an Overseas Contingency Operation. Apparently the Obama team does not see the next generation of Madrassa trained Jihadis, or freshly minted Islamist middle eastern governments as a future threat. The opportunity to make that pronouncement, whether factual or not, could not be missed in an election cycle. The combination of agenda, flawed reason and naive incompetence will see my worst nightmare visited upon the heartland. There will be an American “Beslan”, in some semi-rural community with limited LEO response and poorly secured schools. The Wolves of Islam are among us it is only a matter of When. Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil. Thomas Mann spoke no truer words.

true yes to the point, I think the next PRESIDENT SHOULD take a good long look at immigration and SANCTUARIES, AND LOOK seriously at who should come and who should not come,
it is most imperative, it is even past the threshold,
bye

@bees
The liberal left had no problem condemning GW Bush for his “Mission Accomplished” statement. I doubt that they will hold Obama to the same standard. Al Qaeda has not ceased to exist. They have been sorely pressured in Afghanistan and Somalia. They have since shifted to Yemen, Mali and the Maghreb. Radical Islamist groups like Nigeria’s Boko Haram offer support and refuge. They are still present in the ungoverned tribal areas of Pakistan. Recent arrests in Spain point to an active recruiting effort among europeans of arabic descent. Al Qaeda cannot be wished away to serve Obama’s need of positively perceived accomplishments after 3 years of malaise and failed policy. Sadly this misapprehension will cost the lives of innocents whose blood will be on the hands of Obama and the cabal of neomarxists and SDS retreads that surround him.

Terror’s war on America? Not so over …

Hey, you can’t lose a war you aren’t in. … right?

@Brian:

Al Qaeda … are still present in the ungoverned tribal areas of Pakistan.

One of the things that have become apparent through the work of Pres. Bush and Pees. Obama and the Mumbia jihad terror attack is that dangerous portions of Al Qaeda are creatures of the Pakistani ISI, the Pakistani intelligence service. One must be mindful that Pakistan illegally became a nuclear armed state. One must be mindful that Pakistan illegally trafficked nuclear WMD research. One must be mindful that Pakistan has engaged in genocide as recently as 1971.

@Brian:

On February 22, 1971 the generals in West Pakistan took a decision to crush the Awami League and its supporters. It was recognized from the first that a campaign of genocide would be necessary to eradicate the threat: “Kill three million of them,” said President Yahya Khan at the February conference, “and the rest will eat out of our hands.” (Robert Payne, Massacre [1972], p. 50.) On March 25 the genocide was launched. The university in Dacca was attacked and students exterminated in their hundreds. Death squads roamed the streets of Dacca, killing some 7,000 people in a single night. It was only the beginning. “Within a week, half the population of Dacca had fled, and at least 30,000 people had been killed. Chittagong, too, had lost half its population. All over East Pakistan people were taking flight, and it was estimated that in April some thirty million people [!] were wandering helplessly across East Pakistan to escape the grasp of the military.” (Payne, Massacre, p. 48.) Ten million refugees fled to India, overwhelming that country’s resources and spurring the eventual Indian military intervention. (The population of Bangladesh/East Pakistan at the outbreak of the genocide was about 75 million.)

Strikingly similar and equally hellish scenes are described in the case-studies of genocide in Armenia and the Nanjing Massacre of 1937.

Genocide in Bangladesh, 1971

hi,
is in it a copycat reality that every so much times, I might call it
generations coming of age, in the MUSLIM MAJORITY COUNTRIES,
IT SEEM TO BE A SURGE AND FOLLOW BY A KILLING SPREE TOWARD THAT SURGE OF
PEOPLE WANTING THE POWER, WE HAVE SEEN IT WITH OUR OWN EYES THIS TIME,
if the surge succeed to grasp the POWER, you see their failure to know how to manipulate it to suit their before dream of getting a government better than the former one who stood with time,
and the same pattern was repeated in every countries which where gain by the revolution actors,
promissing the dream to inspire those new generations to fight for them and die for the cause of the head I found it so strange that the free world not all, but some big government did fall for the revolution
and took their side and their cause by sending weapon and manpower with soldiers to help them,
and now the win they had is not even better not even the same comfort they had before,
it’s a degradation of humanity compare to before, and the UN APPROVED THE PARTICIPATION OF HEAVY WEAPONERY TO ACHIEVE THAT DEGRADATION OF HUMANITY,
WHEN DOES THE LEADERS OF WHAT WE CALL FREE WORLD, WILL EVER LEARN THEIR BALANCE,
WILL THEY EVER LEARN THE WISDOM OF HOW TO LEAVE OTHER COUNTRIES ALONE TO FIX THEIR OWN PROBLEMS, TO MASTER THEIR OWN REVOLUTION,
WILL THEY EVER LEARN TO PROTECT THEIR OWN GIANT MILITARY AND KEEP THEM ALIVE
SO TO PROTECT THEIR OWN SELF CITIZENS WHEN THE HATERS WILL COME TO ATTACK AND CONQUER.

@ Mike O’ Malley
In the West we really do not understand the scale of genocide committed in the parts of the world ruled by brute force. Until 9/11 there was no compelling reason for the American people to try and make sense of the motivation behind the actions of both tyrants and radicals. The examples are manifest: Churchill and McMillan’s blind eye to Tito’s massacre of the Croats at Blieburg. The Mao’s Communist Revolution and 30 million dead. Stalin’s oppression and cleansing of the Ukranian Kulaks and others like the Chechens. The Pakistani Generals moved with the support and advice of the U.S. Military ( Gen. Yeager) against an Indian government that was in extreme disfavor with Nixon. The human cost of proxy wars in the third world has never been a concern of the majority of the American public. We do not focus on the crimes against individuals because of the sheer numbers involved. Stalin once said,” One death is a tragedy. One million is a statistic.”
In the same way the West doesn’t understand the patience and commitment of radical Islam. We do not teach the history of Jihad against the West. The battles of Tours and Grenada and the Gates of Vienna are unknown to vast majority of Western peoples, We as a people must come to see Jihad and Islam for what they are. We cannot fail.

@ Mike O’ Malley
The relationship between the Pak military and ISI is, and has been plain from the beginning of the TGWOT. Gen.Hamid Gul was directly involved in the ISI support of Bin Laden, yet he is there on U.S. network tv as a consultant and source of info. Giving someone with the agenda he has, access to the public with whatever info he wishes to plant is criminal in my mind. As Pakistan goes the same can be said of the Saudi’s who maintain appearances while professing privately that there can never be a true alliance between Muslims and any Christian people. The only value we have to the Saudis, is our willingness to fight their wars for them. To the Paks we are a funding source that they can play off against the Chinese with the threat of their nuclear inventory falling into the hands of radical Islamists.

@Brian: Thank you Brian. It is comforting to find you up to speed.

they are invited to the WHITE HOUSE, as if they where from the free world as before,
and they leave with a lot of money in exchange of their support for the PRESIDENT,
it was learned they actively supported the last one, 2008,
it’s a watch my back, and I’ll watch yours policy.
I must say that I’m worry about so many secret service OFFICERS being let go, resign or fired, this story
has a bad smell, where they frame by outside forces so to weaken the intelligence services? it look like a made up plot,
can you see who will replace those agent? how about
infiltration possibility, we where told the enemy had infiltrated the secret services last year by the MUSLIM,

It is secure to know that opie takes his quests to the “war room” when he has special events. Smile America-we pay for the wine, food and cocaine used at the parties.
