Garland mayor blames Pam Geller: “She invited an incendiary reaction”

Allah:

Even in Texas. Even in Texas.

This is the essence of the “fighting words” logic that Chris Cuomo got ripped for defending this morning, no? Geller picked a fight. She, not just the degenerates who attacked the event, is responsible for creating the threat insofar as a breach of the peace was foreseeable. It’s a logical next step from there to saying, “And therefore we should stop her from picking these sorts of fights, as they put innocent people at risk.”

Even in Texas:

Mayor Douglas Athas said he wished Ms. Geller, co-founder and president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, hadn’t picked Garland as the site for Sunday’s event, the Dallas Morning News reported.

“Certainly in hindsight, we as a community would be better off if she hadn’t,” he told the paper. “Her actions put my police officers, my citizens and others at risk. Her program invited an incendiary reaction. She picked my community, which does not support in any shape, passion or form, her ideology.

“But at the end of the day, we did our jobs,” he added. “We protected her freedoms and her life.”

Her actions were the dangerous ones, huh? You would think this guy, if only in the spirit of solidarity with a fellow citizen who’s now been marked for death by ISIS, would insist on some moral distinction between drawing irreverent cartoons and trying to bomb a community center, but that’s hard to do conceptually if you don’t assign jihadis their own moral agency. To some segment of the population, Islamist nuts are almost part of the weather, not people who consciously undertake to do harm to others. And in a sense, that’s true: If it wasn’t Geller’s cartoon event that got the two Garland savages excited, it would have been something else. Lightning’s going to strike somewhere, whether or not you put your lightning rod out. And you don’t blame lightning for doing what lightning does.

By the way, this makes twice today that I’ve seen someone suggest that Geller’s real crime was organizing an event that required security. Larry Wilmore made the same point last night on his “Daily Show” knockoff, calling it “horrific” that Geller was “intentionally putting innocent, unarmed security guards in danger so you can make some bullshit free speech argument.” Why her free-speech argument is “bullshit” is unclear except that it serves the purpose of a show like his to delegitimize a right-wing villain they might otherwise feel obliged to side with.

In Norway all rapes for the last 7 years have been by Muslim males perpetrated mostly on Norwegian females.
Why have we heard much about that?
A study done by a prominent Norwegian criminologist was published recently.
A case was made in court that the study was ”hate literature.”
The criminologist just LOST that case!
He was found guilty of hate crimes for publishing a truth, what statistics show!
No wonder we never hear about the truth in lands where Islam’s blasphemy laws have been incorporated.
The TRUTH IS NO DEFENSE.
Soon to be the case here, too.

Craven cowards, all of them. And bullies, picking on a woman whose ideology that Mayor Athas goes to great lengths to insist he doesn’t support is….. plain old Constitutional Freedom of Speech. Exact same people who so weepingly tweeted Je suis Charlie now pretend Ms Geller’s courage “was nothing like that”. Honestly, I think they are mad at her for not causing a riot or even a protest, for showing up the European massacres and winning against the murderers. Even in our world–shaking protests, American conservatives are mannerly and well-organized.

Ummm, hypocrite much, Mayor Athas? Never read how you objected to the Muslims holding an event at the very same venue in Garland just a short while back. An event that the Muslims would not allow the press entry to.

Oh, wait, while there were protesters at that Muslim event, none of them were carrying weapons in order to kill Muslims. None of the issued death threats or were tied to radical groups that want to slaughter Christians and Jews.

Say good by to your office, Mayor. Election season is right around the corner.

Actually, perhaps what should be done is to set up more of these events in areas that lend themselves to defending against attack and lure terrorists into a fight. The, simply kill the terrorists or use the lack of terrorist response as an indication of their cowardice.

@retire05:

Not hypocritical; no one expects non-Muslims to visit violence upon Muslims. It is mainly Muslims visiting violence upon others. Therefore, Muslims are allowed to say and do what they like while non-Muslims have to deal with the threat of violence.

@Bill: In my previous comment was gonna “joke” about putting innocent citizens out front in a dangerous position to draw out terrorists. Then along you come.lol

@rich wheeler: So, you are just fine with having an open, un-regulated border where even though evidence of potential terrorist traffic has been found, nothing is done to protect citizens but think taking actions to draw these terrorists out in order to control where the fight occurs and make sure we have superior fire-power and a tactical advantage is unreasonable?

I don’t know if this will come as a surprise or not, but these terrorists are not here for jobs or tourism. They are here to terrorize.

@Bill: You got me confused with somebody else.
FYI I am not for open borders-I’m not voting for HRC.

Draw these terrorists out by putting citizen’s in harm’s way??
They never taught that tactic at Marine Corps Officer’s Basic School in Quantico.
I’d say it needs ALOT more study
Jim Webb for POTUS.

BTW I’ll never vote for Ted Cruz, Who do you like

@rich wheeler:

Jim Webb for POTUS.

Jim who? Is that JIm Harem Webb? Same guy?

@Redteam: Yeah They’re all voting for him. .

@rich wheeler: I guess you would have to show me where I specified putting civilians in harm’s way. I don’t believe I did and, by the by, Hillary is not the only liberal supporting trading open borders and terrorist access for votes. Your buddy Obama is a major proponent of this lunacy. In fact, Hillary was against it before she was for it.

@rich wheeler: Draw these terrorists out by putting citizen’s in harm’s way??

There is no corner tiny enough into which an infidel (like yourself or me) can paint himself so as to be ”safe” from Muslims who insist that sharia be obeyed.
Should I ”cover?”
Should you give up music, sports, shaving, freedom to talk with a female (not family), alcohol?
All of these things have been excuses Muslims have used to loot away homes of infidels, to murder those infidels.
We had a girl get a Nobel Peace prize simply for surviving being shot in the head on her way to school!
Sharia has no limits to its excuses for taking your stuff and killing you.
There is no protection except setting a red line in the sand and saying no, not past this point.

@Nanny G:

Draw these terrorists out by putting citizen’s in harm’s way??

Would that be like drawing out rapists by having a wet t-shirt contest?
Or like drawing out pedophiles by having an Easter egg hunt for children?
Or maybe it would be like drawing out the KKK by having an Al Sharpton rally?

Speech, in this country, is either free or it’s not. And there is no part of the Constitution that says people have to speak with caution, or politically correct or even with respect for another’s feelings. But it does say that speech is free, without placing limits on that speech. And when one is willing to move that bar, in order to not offend, then it is only a matter of time until the bar is moved again, and again, and again.

Excellent retire05

@Bill:

I wonder if Rich Wheeler would blame the promoters of a wet t-shirt contest for bringing out rapists? You noticed, I’m sure, that RW never addressed that.

@retire05: Here’s the thing. The talk here is to specifically have these Mohammed bashing rallies “to bring out the terrorists.” To me that seems foolish.
Wet tee contests to bring out rapists, etc. Equally foolish.
Wouldn’t you agree? RT?

@rich wheeler:

Here’s the thing. The talk here is to specifically have these Mohammed bashing rallies “to bring out the terrorists.”

No, the idiocy is that there are those, like you, that seem to think that because you don’t agree with Pam Geller’s “free speech,” that she, and those who attended the “Draw Mohammed” cartoon fest, were responsible for “drawing” out two radical jihadists that wanted to kill people due to their perceived insult.

That is no different than saying because someone promotes a wet t-shirt contest, and women participate, that the promoters and the women are responsible for what a rapist might do.

It is part of your liberal mindset that seems to think the criminals are the victims and the victims are the criminals. Nothing, and I do mean NOTHING, gives someone the right to retaliate against incendiary speech, no matter how insulting it is considered. Would you take the same position if Malik Shabazz was shot at by KKKers because he called white people devil crackers? I doubt it.

If you think that exercising your right to free speech, no matter how insulting, gives others the right to retaliate, you are beyond help.

The best part of the whole event were the drawings. No, not of Mohammed, but the chalk outline of the two jihadis on the concrete.

@retire05: See #4 First sentence
#16 You really enjoy ranting– comedic.

@rich wheeler:

Nothing is more comedic than an aged man trying to look like a 30’s something in a muscle t-shirt with arms that have long ago seen their best muscle days. It is not only comedic, it is pathetic.

As to ranting, you seem to have written the book on it. And since I consider your calling my free speech “ranting” does that give me a right to violently retaliate against you since if I consider that insulting?

You’re a joke, RW. A left coast liberal who really has no argument and resorts to pejoratives when shown up. Did you learn that in tactic the Marines?

@retire05: You are not only stupid but stubborn. Did you even bother to read Bills comment in #4?
I’d match my fitness against your decaying old body.A sad old fool you are 05.

You can hide your aging self behind your computer

@rich wheeler:

You are not only stupid but stubborn.

Ah, yes, the ever constant insults thrown when you have nothing of value to say. No surprise.

Did you even bother to read Bills comment in #4?

His comment represents ONLY his opinion, not mine, or any other person who comments here. Nothing like holding everyone liable for the comments of one person, is there, RW? You’re so damn predictable it is no longer humorous.

I’d match my fitness against your decaying old body

Well, to be honest with you, RW, you simply just don’t have that much to brag about. As to my body, you have no clue. Just running your mouth as usual.

.A sad old fool you are 05

.

Most insults, RW? Why am I not surprised?

You can hide your aging self behind your computer

I guess everyone here, but you, hid behind their computers. Are you going to chastise your liberal cohorts for that, as well?

I understand your ego is out of control, RW, but really man, do you think you can hold back the hands of time by trying to look like you are in your 30’s?

@rich wheeler:

Wouldn’t you agree? RT?

uh, no. Sorry for the delay but I was out of town and didn’t check FA. That’s like blaming the policeman when the criminal is running away and falls down and is injured. As it it is the policmen’s fault for chasing the criminal. If a terrorist is attempting to kill a law abiding citizen and the police takes the terrorist down for attempted murder, it’s hardly the fault of the law abiding citizen.

Geez, and you’re only in your early 70’s? Must not have used your wrinkle cream when you should have.

@retire05: Those are some ‘great’ photos of those animals out there in California. Wouldn’t you agree?

@Redteam: RT and 05 Thank you both for checking out my FB page It’s great to have my favorite old FA couple on board..
