Climate Facts Ignored Amid Hysteria at UN Summit in Doha

Alex Newman @ The New American:

To coincide with the United Nations global warming summit in Doha, Qatar, the usual flurry of hysterical press releases repackaged as “news” and a barrage of dubious “studies” from tax-funded climate alarmists have made headlines in the establishment media — all of it, critics say, aimed at creating at least the perception of support for UN goals. Notably absent from the shrill warnings of gloom and doom about human carbon emissions, however, is one important fact: There has been no global warming, man-made or otherwise, for some 16 years, according to data compiled by the alarmists themselves.

Despite the embarrassing lack of any increase in planetary temperatures, climate-change alarmists and representatives from almost 200 governments and dictatorships are still assembled at the UN Conference of the Parties (COP18). They claim their mission is to save the planet from warming purportedly caused, in part at least, by human emissions of carbon dioxide — a byproduct of human breathing, an essential molecule to all plant life, and a fraction of one percent of all the greenhouse gases naturally present in the atmosphere.

In reality, however, according to experts and analysts, the real goals of the global summit bear little resemblance to the increasingly wild claims made by the UN and its allies. Evidence of that can be found in the global organization’s own documentsand, more recently, in the fact that there has been no global warming even as the hysteria peddlers continue to demand a planetary carbon-control regime to save humanity from a non-problem. The climate models were clearly wrong, yet the increasingly irrelevant climate alarmism marches on.

Based on now-discredited computer models, the UN’s tax-funded climate “scientists” have been claiming almost since the end of the decades-old “global cooling” hoax that the Earth should have been warming dramatically. It has not. Instead, according to global temperature data compiled by the U.K. Met Office and the disgraced Climactic Research Unit (CRU) at the center of the “ClimateGate” scandal, there has actually been no observable warming for over a decade and a half. While ignored at the COP18, outside of the Doha alarmists’ bubble, that fact has not gone unnoticed.

“The wearisomely elaborate choreography of these yearly galah sessions has followed its usual course this time, with a spate of suspiciously timed reports in the once-mainstream media solemnly recording that ‘Scientists Say’ their predictions of doom are worse than ever,” observed Lord Christopher Monckton, a former advisor to then-U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and alongtime foe of bogus UN “climate science” and the organization’s increasingly brazen power grabs. “The smarter minds at the conference (all two of us) are beginning to ask what it was that the much-trumpeted ‘consensus’ got wrong.”

You’ve heard of the liberal’s, “Never let a disaster go to waist.” Or something like that. Now they are saying, “Never let the truth get in the way of our lies.”

The global warming alarmists are like entrepreneurs. They invented a product that they want to sell to the public so they can make a lot of money off of it. They are now advertising the product to try to get as many people to buy it as they can. The biggest problem trying to sell it in the USA is that we are a FREE MARKET. We don’t have to buy it if we don’t like it.

@Smorgasbord:

We don’t have to buy it if we don’t like it.

That’s not quite true anymore though, is it? With Obamacare passed, signed, and “upheld” in the SC, Congress now has the blueprint for making us purchase whatever they want us to purchase. Sell it to the people as a mandate, especially ones that the left loves to promote, then argue it in court as a tax.

Anyone think that Congress under Democratic leadership wouldn’t try to mandate the purchase of a Chevy Volt type vehicle, under the pretense of saving us from ourselves and an “impending global disaster caused by man-made CO2 emissions”, and if we didn’t purchase one of those vehicles, all they have to do is institute a tax of, say, $10,000, and it will be A-OK with the SC.

I was referring ONLY to the global warming merchandise for sale. I don’t have to buy it if I don’t want it, and I don’t want it, so I won’t buy it.

It’s already been bought—except by member of the extreme right-wing.

@Liberal1 (Objectivity):

It’s already been bought—except by member of the extreme right-wing.

Which is just more proof of the wisdom of P.T. Barnum. 🙂 As in “There’s a sucker born every minute”.

If by every member you mean liberal morons, you are correct liberal #2. The average person questions it and the science supports us, not you.
Funny how the left hates Capitalists and the rich until it’s one or their people pushing something and getting rich…like Al Gore.

Science does NOT involve arbitrarily moving the goalposts whenever a dire prediction does not come to fruition. James Hansen has done this already. Al Gore has done this already. The entire AGW believer community does this all the time, changing the terminology to fit their dire predictions.

But this is what we get from the climate “scientists”. Instead of going back to the drawing board, when their predictions and proclamations do not come to pass, they merely double down on those same predictions, extending the date of destruction into the future. Or changing what their predictions encompass, such as changing terminology from ‘global warming’ to ‘climate change’.

That isn’t science. That is fiction. That is evident of a religion seeking to control it’s flock.

And if you simply follow the money, you see that it is all a huge con-job, by a relative handful of people, to acquire wealth through underhanded means.

Yes, Hanson just move the goal posts of average Earth Temperature from 15 degrees C to 14 Degrees C since the collected data did not show global warming since Hanson announced 15 degrees C in the 1980s.

My feeling is that the corporations who own the green energy products, also own a news media company. When you own the news, you can slant it any way you want for your own gain. Fox News is the only news media I know of that isn’t owned by a corporation that can profit from the green agenda.
