Bill Maher Says Jesus Christ Was ‘Palestinian’

Christians the world over are going to be thrilled to know that Jesus was a Palestinian.

At least that’s what HBO’s Bill Maher told CNN’s Piers Morgan Monday evening in a discussion about Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow (video follows with transcript and commentary):

BILL MAHER: You are allowed to have your opinion. You’re allowed to have your opinion that a Palestinian 2000 years ago walked on water and did magic tricks and he was really still his own father and all that stuff. That’s fine. You can have whatever opinion you want, and the fact that a billion other people believe it gives you a lot of strength and credence. But I also have the opinion that that’s ridiculous, that it’s anachronistic, this is the 21st century.

As the late New York Senator Daniel Moynihan said, folks are entitled to their own opinion but not their own facts, and to claim Christ was Palestinian ignores the immutable truth that he and his disciples were Jews.

That was after all a Passover seder they were having at the Last Supper.

Maher’s position also appears to assume that all people that lived in what Greek historian Herodotus described as “Palestini” are Palestinians, which of course is preposterous.

The reality is the first known usage of the term “Palestinian” dates to some time in the 19th century well after Christ’s time.

As offensive as Maher can be, I still sincerely pray that in his search to disprove the Saviour, he will find Him. Oh what a witness he will be. Pray for Bill Maher. No Christian should ever do otherwise.

Rent or, better yet, buy; The Case for Christ. An atheist lawyer set out to prove to his Christian wife that the Bible was in error. He is now a powerful witness for Christ. After his honest and objective search, he found the truth. Unless Maher is a demon, he too can find the truth.

    @SM Williams:

Unless Maher is a demon, he too can find the truth.

I think that you make a BIG assumption with that sentence. That is, that Bill Maher would actively engage in seeking the truth. Truth is, I don’t think that if the truth hit him square in the nose that he would recognize it for what it is.

They probably came from the same racial stock. The only difference occurred in religion when Islam began to proliferate in that area. I think that’s a little more cogent comment, rather than assaulting Bill Maher’s character.

There have been alternate histories about the land where Jesus was born and lived since the UN created the modern state of Israel.
Did you know that in the 1940’s when the mandate took effect there were only about 200,000 people who left that land to live elsewhere.
But today, mostly because no country in the area will allow those people OR their children born in their countries to become citizens, there are over 750,000 people who claim a ”right of return,” to Israel.
But given time and attrition, that real number ought to be fewer than a few thousand….tops.
These are a manufactured people for the purpose of destroying Israel.
Ever see how these people treated their main mosque in Jerusalem called the Al-Aqsa Mosque BACK when they controlled that land completely?
    It was abandoned for centuries.
