A Stupid, Fact-Free Accusation from a Stupid, Fact-Free Candidate

Jim Geraghty:

Behold, ladies and gentlemen, the Republican Party frontrunner:

Donald Trump on Tuesday alleged that Ted Cruz’s father was with John F. Kennedy’s assassin shortly before he murdered the president, parroting a National Enquirer story claiming that Rafael Cruz was pictured with Lee Harvey Oswald handing out pro-Fidel Castro pamphlets in New Orleans in 1963.

A Cruz campaign spokesperson told the Miami Herald, which pointed out numerous flaws in the Enquirer story, that it was “another garbage story in a tabloid full of garbage.”

“His father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald’s being — you know, shot. I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous,” Trump said Tuesday during a phone interview with Fox News. “What is this, right prior to his being shot, and nobody even brings it up. They don’t even talk about that. That was reported, and nobody talks about it.”

“I mean, what was he doing — what was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death? Before the shooting?” Trump continued. “It’s horrible.”

The Miami Herald notes, with almost comical understatement, “The explosive suggestion that Cruz’s father would have had any affiliation with Oswald is not corroborated in any other way.

Where are the Republican elected officials willing to say, “this is stupid”? This is a stupid argument from a stupid man, too stupid to support, too stupid to serve as commander-in-chief and the leader of the free world. And if you believe that Ted Cruz’s father was tied to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, in the absence of any corroborating evidence, you’re stupid too.

Hey, remember when we were going to see the new, mature, more presidential Donald Trump? Good times, good times. As noted before, you can’t change the style of a man with the impulse control of a toddler.

If this is the best we can do when someone tosses out horseshit like this, you’d better hope God will help us.

THREE MONTHS before Oswald killed Kennedy he and Rafael Cruz were both in New Orleans, LA.
Cruz (the elder) admits to being involved with the same org that’s papers Oswald is holding; the Fair Play for Cuba group.
Somehow, Cruz, the elder, didn’t know that Castro was a commie in August 1963?
there’s the unbelievable part.
I had friends in Huntington Park CA at that time from Cuba and they (and their parents, since I and they were teens) all knew Castro was a commie well before then!
Cruz, the elder, claimed he left the group, Fair Play for Cuba, AFTER finding out Castro was a commie.
After August of 1963?
It makes more sense that Cruz was a spy in their midst than that ignorant.

There are sure some uninformed persons writing on this blog. When did anyone prove who killed JFK. No one, for damn sure, has ever proved that Lee Harvey Oswald did. People forget this was a Dimocrat run coup d’etat to remove Kennedy and put the war machine, with it’s vast profits to work. A secondary, but triggering event would have been Lyndon Johnson’s impending incarceration and vacating the VP.

Not sure who else, and how many were in New Orleans in 1963, I might have even been there that year, I know I was in 67, but having been in New Orleans is/was not a prerequisite for the killer of JFK. I believe he was killed in Dallas, so looking at who was in Dallas in Nov 63 might yield better clues than who was in New Orleans earlier that year.

@David: “impulsive control of a toddler.” “a stupid argument from a stupid man.”
What do we say about the stupid people who support him?
