What a difference a term makes
:)

On November 7th, 2006, a very good friend called with great pride and a new found sense of representation. Democrats had taken Congress, and as a fervent Bush-hating, anti-war Democrat, he was thrilled. When asked what he’ll do if the Democrats failed to provide their New Direction In Iraq, he said they would have to either Put up or Shut up. Perhaps it’s time to ask those elected Democrats to either Put up a real change in the direction in Iraq, or to shut up. Either the Democrats need to barter and get the votes they need to create a New Direction In Iraq, or they need to shut up. Either protesters need to protest the people who control the direction of the Iraq War, or they might as well shut up. Maybe that’s why there’s only a few thousand protesters 4 years into the war as opposed to the millions who protested before the war; millions of people who already realize the reality of the New Direction In Iraq lie.

Eight years ago, the American destroyer, U.S.S. Cole was on its way to aid in the “containment” of Saddam Hussein’s regime via a naval blockade/U.N. sanctions in the Persian Gulf. It stopped for fuel in the port of Aden, Yemen, was attacked by Al Queda, and almost sank. Only extremely brave (desperate) measures taken on the part of the surviving crew members saved the ship. What lesson(s) did those 17 sailors give their lives for us to learn?

-Did you ever notice that no one in the government was ever fired for “letting” Bin Laden escape in Tora Bora?
-Did you ever notice that no one in the government was ever fired for the pre-invasion intel failures in Iraq?
-Did you ever noticed that no one in the government was ever fired for failing to implement an occupation plan for Iraq back in 2003?
-Did you ever notice that no one in the government was ever fired in the aftermath of the 911 attacks?
-Did you ever notice that no one in the government was ever fired in the aftermath of the U.S.S. Cole attack?

There’s a common denominator here, and aside from the world economic crisis, this common denominator is, in my opinion, the biggest problem facing the United States of America.

Sorry to make you have to clean your monitor as I’m sure that title made many a reader snarf all over. Yes, you read that correctly, but (sit down, swallow hard, and prepare…) Alec Baldwin blamed the Democrats like Barney Frank for the financial crisis while he was on the Bill Maher show.

Ok, there’s someone out there who just snarfed again. Clean it up, and check this out…

American Thinker:

NBC has pulled the video off the internet and is deleting comments on its message boards asking about it.
Seems as if the players over at Saturday Night live might read American Thinker. This weekend they ran a skit that mentioned the fall of Wachovia, the finance crisis and the roles of Herb and Marion Sandler and George Soros (who they identified as the owner of the Democratic Party).

Michelle Malkin has a theory as to why the video was pulled.

The skit is funny because there’s some actual underlying truth to the humor:

In the past, I’ve seen Senator Biden and Senator Obama talk about the cost of the war in Iraq as being $8bil a month, $10bil a month, $12bil a month, back to $10bil a month, $1trillion, $2trillion, everything shy of saying a $gazzilion. Last night was just another installment in a political marketing display of either gross ignorance or very serious distortion of the truth.

We’re spending $10 billion a month while Iraqis have an $80 billion surplus.

Look, we have spent more money — we spend more money in three weeks on combat in Iraq than we spent on the entirety of the last seven years that we have been in Afghanistan building that country.

Let me say that again. Three weeks in Iraq; seven years, seven years or six-and-a-half years in Afghanistan.

According to the Congressional Research Service (I believe Senator Obama and Senator Biden are members of Congress) as of July of this year the war in Iraq has cost $444.2billion over the past 66 months (an average of $6billion a month-not $8, $10, or $12bil, but…what’s a few billion among Democratic Party senators?). The problem here is several fold.

Most ethical Congress EVARH. Can I get a “CULTURE OF CORRUPTION!” anyone? Please?

The ethics committee approved a trip Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) took to an Antigua beach resort late last year — an excursion that critics say was paid for by lobbyists.

Last November, Rangel, his son Steven and a top aide, George Dalley, attended a business conference at the Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa for a foundation affiliated with a weekly New York-based Caribbean newspaper.

No people, the recent financial crisis in America is NOT a bi-partisan one. It was created by Democrats (some of whom have already had the integrity to admit they were wrong in their well-intentioned actions that created it). We’ve seen it on YouTube, and now the Wall Street Journal has called out the Democrats who have the most responsibility.

It’s time for some accountability. To paraphrase Sen Obama (who took the second more amount of money from Freddie and Fannie)…

I just saw Glenn Beck on CNN, and he said that America is on the verge of another Great Depression. Others have used similiarly scary language to describe the financial crisis on Wall Street resulting from the failure of the housing industry. Whether one believes it or not, I’m inclined to think that if lawmakers saw the issue as this dire, then they’d be oblidged to work on Christmas, Easter, or any other religious holiday. If you’re in the military, do you take the day off and leave the frontline because it’s Summer Solstice? I don’t think so. How many times have we heard Democrats complain about Bush going on vacation (as if he’s ever far from the nuclear football or out of communication and not getting daily briefings)?

How do the Democrats get away with this? Leaders always want the ball. They don’t run from it.

I’ve posted this concern of mine in other threads, and the depth of my financial confusion (hey, I very humbly admit it) compels me to do a full post on it.

Senator Barack Obama has come out in support of the $700billion dollar Wall Street bailout plan that was caused by a failing housing market. At the same time, he says he wants to do a bunch of other things if elected, he recognizes they’ll cost hundreds of billions of dollars, and he wants to pay for these things by increasing taxes on the wealthiest 5% of Americans (people who own and run major corporations, employ the rest of us, and do the most investing in the country; anyone making more than $250k a year). I just don’t understand how he wants to give those people and organizations money, then pledges to tax them.

Here are his promises per his DNC nominee acceptance speech:

Cry havoc, and let slip the bears of Wall Street! That’s what the American people want. That’s what (according to many sources) are filling Congressional switchboards with constituent calls at a rate of 1000:1 against supporting the bailout bill (expect some serious variance depending on the member and district). Still, ya gotta hand it to the American people who FINALLY spoke out with one voice!

As I’ve said elsewhere, whether one believes the nation is on the brink of financial collapse or not, American political leaders, financial leaders, financial legends, and media all claim that is the case, and are all acting as if it is. In response to the crisis, Congressional Democrats-at the urging of the Bush Admin which did not do enough to detect, warn, or prevent the situation, have suggested throwing money at the problem. House Republicans and many Senate Republicans have suggested alternative solutions. So why isn’t anything getting done?

People need to be reminded (apparently) that the Republicans in the House are moot. The Democrats control the House of Representatives-where there is no filibuster rule, and they can pass a bill that throws money at the problem if they want. There are enough Republicans in support of the Democrats’ proposal in the Senate as well. Additionally, President Bush has already endorsed the Democrats’ proposal. Democrats do not need the support of House Republicans to get their way.

In the past few days-since we’ve been all of a sudden told how dire America’s financial situation has become-I’ve wondered why we didn’t hear about it earlier. The Fed’s been warning about it for years. So has the SEC. So has the Bush Admin. In all those cases, I didn’t pay attention. Economics is boring, and when I hear doom/gloom I just droned out. Then, when everyone went into freakout mode, I wondered why it went from routine complaining to freakout mode? What? Wasn’t Congress watching to make sure agencies were doing their jobs? Where was Congressional oversight? Where was Sen Dod, Congressman Barney Frank? Where was all that oversight the Democrats said they would do when they took Congress?

What exactly IS this financial crisis?

Well well well…imagine everyone’s surprise when we found out last night that Congressional Democrats tried to use the emergency financial bailout bill to fund illegal voter registration groups as a means of keeping them in power. Gosh, who would ever have imagined such a culture of corruption in the Democrats’ Congress?

Apparently it was not Senator McCain and the infusion of presidential campaign politics into the debate over the financial bailout bill which caused the uproar last night. Nope. It seems the Democrats wanted 20% of any profit made by this grant to go to the very groups that time and time again turn out to be corrupt tools for voter fraud. Both parties have examples of voter fraud, but only one tried to take a financial “Pearl Harbor”, the worst financial crisis in the history of mankind, the biggest crash since the Depression…and use it for partisan advantage.

Senator Lindsey Graham pointed it out last night.

Doubt him? Is he making a partisan claim? Well, here’s the section of the bill:
