So the Sotomayor confirmation hearings begin and we now get to see if the Republicans will just roll over and wag their tail, as they have proven to do over the years, or actually grow a pair and take her and her racist beliefs head on. Technically it won’t matter, since she has the votes anyway, but during the tenure of the last Democrat President we got Ginsburg and Breyer. Two horrible, ultra-liberal, justices and how many Republicans voted no on them? 3 and 9 respectively.

With Sotomayor there is no reason for any Republican to vote yes on someone who doesn’t value the Constitution and on someone who is obviously a activist judge. But apparently they’re hoping to get 23 no votes out of 40 Senators.

Pathetic.

Sessions came out swinging today thankfully:

Republicans came out firing at this morning’s confirmation hearings for Sonia Sotomayor, as Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, accused Sotomayor of being prejudiced.

Citing a controversial racial bias case in which a fire department discarded the results of a qualifying test when black firefighters scored too low, Sessions said Sotomayor was biased in favor of the minority employees. Read the rest of this entry »

Catching up with CPAC

Posted by: Skye @ 8:23 pm in CPAC2009, Joe The Plumber

Macho Sauce entertained the crowds with his conservative message. He is a down to earth approachable individual, it was a pleasure to chat with him in the lobby of the Shoreham.

Sarah Palin ruled CPAC. Although this remarkable Governor could not attend the conference, her presence at this event was tangible. Two exhibits were dedicated to her: Team Sarah and Sarah 2012, and she was featured in the John Ziegler film Media Malpractice.

The moral relativism idiocy is alive and well in our MSM. Take a look at this doozy:

In the few seconds it took Iraqi journalist Muntather Zaidi to wing a pair of shoes at President George Bush, the Middle East got its own version of Joe the Plumber.

Just as Joe Wurzelbacher’s gripes to Barack Obama during the U.S. presidential election catapulted him to fame, Zaidi’s burst of rage toward Bush during a Baghdad news conference Sunday has made him a household name across the Middle East.

To many, Zaidi is a hero for engaging in the ultimate Arab world insult — hurling his shoes — at Bush, who ducked to avoid being slammed in the head. To others, Zaidi is an embarrassment for a society that prides itself on being hospitable to guests, even those who are not much liked. Whichever way his act is viewed, there’s no question that Zaidi, like Wurzelbacher, is no longer just another Joe.

Comparing a man who dared to ask Obama a simple question while he was running for President with someone who physically assaulted a sitting President is just plain, well…how do I say it? Retarded. With a capitol R. Read the rest of this entry »

Talk about a strange personal vendetta by the media…. Maureen Dowd goes on vacation, and sitting in for her is a petty and/or menopausal Timothy Egan, lashing out at Joe the Plumber for having the audacity to write a book.

Huh?

The unlicensed pipe fitter known as Joe the Plumber is out with a book this month, just as the last seconds on his 15 minutes are slipping away. I have a question for Joe: Do you want me to fix your leaky toilet?

I didn’t think so. And I don’t want you writing books. Not when too many good novelists remain unpublished. Not when too many extraordinary histories remain unread. Not when too many riveting memoirs are kicked back at authors after 10 years of toil. Not when voices in Iran, North Korea or China struggle to get past a censor’s gate.

I’m not sure why Egan’s got a problem with American entrepreneurialship, but I daresay Joe Wurzelbacher will not be the first citizen to cash in on his reluctant public 15 minutes of fame. Gennifer Flowers did well with Passion and Betrayal about her affair with Bill Clinton. Anita Hill has done an effective job changing from law professor to authoress… all starting with her sexual harrassment accusations against Justice Clarence Thomas. No doubt they have had ghost writers in tow.

****************UPDATE*******************

Joe indeed does credit his ghost writer, Thomas N. Tabbock. H/T to Newsbusters’ Warner Todd Huston for the extra details on this same op-ed.

****************END UPDATE*******************

It can be said that if you sleep with the right people, not only publishers, but all of Hollywood will kneel at your feet for the rights to a juicy movie of scandal. At least Joe’s book isn’t founded on a leap to 15 minutes of fame based on sexual interactions with a famous partner….

One more from Alfonzo Rachel before the election:

Now the director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Helen Jones-Kelley (a Obama supporter who gave the maximum allowed to his campaign), has changed her story on the record check of Joe the Plumber.

She first said it was a routine check to see his status on child support payments, if any, because well….they do it for all the people who get publicity…wink wink.

Now the record checks turned out to be a bit more in depth: Read the rest of this entry »

Shocker!

The Ohio Head of Job and Family Services who approved a child support search on Joe Wurzelbacher immediately after the third debate is a max donor to Obama. (h/t Ace)

And we’re supposed to believe her excuse for the invasion of privacy, which was “we always do that” more or less:

Ohio’s inspector general is investigating why a state agency director approved checking the state child-support computer system for information on “Joe the Plumber.”

Helen Jones-Kelly, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, confirmed today that she OK’d the check on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher following the Oct. 15 presidential debate.

She said there were no political reasons for the check on the sudden presidential campaign fixture though the Support Enforcement Tracking System. Read the rest of this entry »

Election Day is only two weeks away, and as John McCain and Barack Obama make their final pitches to “close the deal” with voters, a stunning new ATI-News/Zogby poll shows a clear majority of undecided voters disagree with Obama’s plan for wealth redistribution in America.

1214 likely voters were surveyed Oct 17-20th, and resulted in larger than a 2:1 margin of undecideds stating that they disagreed with the concept of distribution of wealth. 57% against, 24% for, and 19% just can’t make up their minds.

The gap was only slightly narrower for Independent voters, 52% against, 39% for, and 10% dazed and confused.

Clearly, the McCain campaign has an issue decidedly in his favor. Will Obama, the DNC and their media continue to “distract” the American electorate from Obama’s own words to Joe the Plumber?

Or will McCain refuse to let them get away with this utter nonsense, and drive home the documented membership of Obama in the New Party?

Is this the same as the Democratic Socialists of America? Officially, no. But the New Party was always included in the DSA’s newsletters updates. Why? Because philosophically, they are closely aligned.

From the Chicago Democratic Socialists of American website in July 2007

Ask a question of a liberal Presidential candidate that allows his true Socialist dream to spew forth from his lips and the next thing you know you get run through the mill by the MSM. How dare you ask a question of The One.

Because of that question the MSM vetted Joe The Plumber more then they EVER did with The One. We find out that the guy has a tax lien on him. We find out he doesn’t have a license: Read the rest of this entry »

Economics 101 is being taught all over the nation, thanks to Joe the Plumber!

The ‘I am Joe” mantra trickled down into a McCain Victory Center as some volunteer callers identified themselves as ‘Jane or Joe Plummer’ when calling voters in Philadelphia.

Obama wins and we’re all gonna get hosed….except for those already on the welfare nipple of course:

One man in particular questioned Obama’s tax plan, telling him that he is about to buy a company that makes more than $250,000 a year.

“Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” the man asked.

Obama responded by telling the voter that his business would get a 50% tax credit for health care, but that his taxes will go up from 36% to 39%.

“I want to give all these folks who are bus drivers, teachers, auto workers who make less, I want to give them a tax cut,” Obama explained.

The man wasn’t convinced, telling Obama that he has been a plumber for 15 years and doesn’t believe that he should be taxed more.

After explaining that the tax rate would be the same as under Bill Clinton and that 95% of Americans make less than $250,000, Obama made one last pitch to the voter.

“I’m gonna cut taxes a little bit more for the folks who are most in need and for the 5% of the folks who are doing very well – even though they’ve been working hard and I appreciate that – I just want to make sure they’re paying a little bit more in order to pay for those other tax cuts,” Obama said.

It’s not that I want to punish your success – I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you – that they’ve got a chance at success too.

Sounds like the very definition of Socialism.
