Michael Moore’s latest blockbuster lacks luster. After languishing in theaters for two months, Michael Moore’s anti-capitalism movie, Capitalism: A Love Story, has officially bombed. In its painfully short run of two months, the movie grossed 14.2 million. Approximately 55% of sales make it back to the studio, that leaves eight million to cover production costs and advertising costs, in other words the film has finished in the Red, how appropriate.

Moore scored big with Fahrenheit 9/11, it had a 120 million domestic gross. Since then his films have been falling faster than a fat man on ice. Sicko made a fairly respectable 24.5 million. Then Moore made an ego trip movie, Captain Mike Across America; vanity movies are not well received by the public and movie patrons seemed to be on to the greed and poor dollar value of Moore’s Socialist Propaganda. He had to give the movie away to get exposure and save face.

It’s become painfully obvious that Leftist propaganda movies are boring, even for die hard Marxists. It has been estimated that approximately two million people viewed Moore’s latest propaganda effort, that represents less than 3% of the Leftists who voted for the Hope and Change mantra, indicating that Obama voters are losing interest in the drab austere life of universal poverty that Obamamania promises.

For the fashion conscious politicos Marxism, Moore, and Obama are fast becoming so yesterday, the new mantra seems to be No Moore Obama!

By Glenn Garvin McClatchy/Chicago Tribune News (Hat tip: NoisyRoom.net):

Imagine this. At a time of political turmoil, a charismatic, telegenic new leader arrives virtually out of nowhere. He offers a message of hope and reconciliation based on compromise and promises to marshal technology for a better future that will include universal health care.

The news media swoons in admiration — one simpering anchorman even shouts at a reporter who asks a tough question: “Why don’t you show some respect?!” The public is likewise smitten, except for a few nut cases who circulate batty rumors on the Internet about the leader’s origins and intentions. The leader, undismayed, offers assurances that are soothing, if also just a tiny bit condescending: “Embracing change is never easy.”

So, does that sound like anyone you know? Oh, wait — did I mention the leader is secretly a totalitarian space lizard who’s come here to eat us?

Welcome to ABC’s “V,” the most fascinating and bound to be the most controversial new show of the fall television season. Nominally a rousing sci-fi space opera about alien invaders bent on the conquest (and digestion) of all humanity, it’s also a barbed commentary on Obamamania that will infuriate the president’s supporters and delight his detractors.

“We’re all so quick to jump on the bandwagon,” observes one character. “A ride on the bandwagon, it sounds like fun. But before we get on, let us at least make sure it is sturdy.”

I remember the old mini-series (not so much the subsequent tv series).

Apparently, the parallels to current events are striking enough, that the show is being “softened”. By way of MidnightBlue, another columnist, Tom Jicha, notes:

The teasers running on ABC offer a hint of this. “They gave us hope. We gave them our trust.” Who does that bring to mind? Of course, the Visitors (hence the title), after promising things like universal health care and peace in a one world government, turn out to be totally evil. They attempt to seize control of the media, favoring those who don’t challenge them or ask probing questions about their real agenda, which turns out to be the annihilation of humanity. The heroes are everyday people, who form a grass roots resistance movement. Supposedly, the show is being slightly re-conceptualized to soften or remove events some might interpret as negative parallels to today.

“Subtle” is fine. But don’t water down the political allegory!

Hopefully by “softening”, it just means they changed the acting role of the lead lizard from a black male actor to that of a white female (Hillary?).

“V” for “Vendetta”? No! “V” for “Visitor”? Sorta…..”V” for “Victory”? In 2010 and 2012, yes we will!

The show airs on ABC, Tuesday nights.

Only in America can the lecherous leanings and extra-marital shenanigans of a dirty old man result in ratings gold and a national conversation.

The David Letterman Show scored its highest ratings yet as he aired his sexual proclivities in public under the guise of apologizing to his wife for betraying her with a variety of casual sexual partners. Partners, who, by the way, could have lost their jobs on Letterman’s whim if they somehow displeased him. Or if Letterman ran out of Viagra.

Under the new rules implemented by self anointed elites, if a person is a celebrity, the normal rules of decent conduct are suspended. Unless, of course, the celebrity is a conservative. If only former Senator “wide stance” Craig was a Democrat, he’d have an honorary key to the White House intern’s restroom. And probably his own personal peephole to boot.

Instead, as a member of the left, Letterman is accorded membership in the most valued and largest growing group in America. He is now an official ‘victim.’ And shame on those little tarts who used him in order to advance their own careers or merely to scratch a transient sexual itch.

Letterman’s only sin appears to be his timing. He should have waited another week or so before stealing the headlines from pedophile rapist Roman Polanski. Whoppi Goldberg was right in the middle of convincing America that rape isn’t rape and Hollywood had already garnered over 100 celebrity signatures calling for his release before Letterman rudely shifted the national conversation to his own sexual peccadilloes. Poor Roman.

The groundswell of elite support in favor of excusing Polanski for drugging and raping a 13 year-old girl 30 years ago could very well have resulted in freeing Polanski. Now, the fickleness and short attention spans of elite leftists may mean that Polanski may actually have to face the consequences of his past actions, instead of just getting his own star on Warsaw’s ‘walk of fame.’ Life just isn’t fair.

Former Boy President Bill Clinton can attest to that. After all, even though he was re-elected President after he made his historic seminal deposit on intern Monica Lewinsky’s blue dress, he knows in his heart that the all the fuss was merely the result of a vast right wing conspiracy. The same right wing conspiracy that is now demanding that Roman Polanski be held accountable for the crime of which he was convicted. What meanies!

The vast right wing conspiracy just doesn’t get it. Sex, anywhere, anytime, and with anyone, is now defined as ‘empowerment.’ Parading naked through the streets of San Francisco as cops stand idly by is considered a right. A right exclusive to gay men, but a right, nonetheless.

Pesky conservatives are only showing their ignorance when they object to the public swapping of spit between two men, or the sexual harassment of sweet young things by powerful men. And dirty old men have the right to express themselves sexually and publicly, without censure. As long as they continue to parrot the leftist agenda, that is.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama’s advisors are currently suggesting that he engage in sex with a subordinate. After all, that would immediately shift the nation’s attention to the left’s favorite topic instead of focusing on why Obama is ignoring our young fighting men in Afghanistan. But maybe, just maybe, Obama is more scared of Michelle than he is of the vast right wing conspiracy and the Taliban. Ya think?

….. bummer. Word, da man, missed the best part (IMHO). So to bracket his post, I’m adding Rush’s record breaking performance for the worst race time and most penalizations in Leno’s infamous electric car race.

Then again, that was Rush’s quest… so did he lose? Or win? It’s all a matter of perspective.

Lorie writes in her post:

Tonight driving my nine-year-old daughter to a school event, we passed a new community center that has not opened yet. We started talking about whether or not it might have a pool, or a gym or what else might be hidden behind the cool modern glass facade. My daughter asked if it would cost a lot to go to it. I told her since it is a community center (it is adjacent to a city park) that it would most likely be free, like the park is.

My daughter told me it was not free — that if the city built it then we all paid for it with our tax money. I asked her how she knew that and she said last year her third grade teacher explained to the class that their families all paid her through their taxes and that when the teacher paid her taxes she was even paying part of her own salary.

Too bad the school officials at B. Bernice Young Elementary School in New Jersey seemed to give a big “EFF-U” to parents who questioned how their tax money was being used (After watching the video, who says liberals don’t got no religion?)- Kevin McCullough:

Several personal phone calls to the school’s administrative office this morning have produced the following results.

1. The school refuses to acknowledge that the events on the tape even occurred.
2. They refuse to admit whether or not information concerning the activity, and the right of a family or child to opt out of it, was made available.
3. They refuse to admit whether or not the children were offered other options, as opposed to being forced to memorize the words, “Hello, Mr. President, we honor you today! For all your great accomplishments we all do say “hooray!” Hooray, Mr. President, you’re number one!
4. But the spokesperson I talked with at B. Bernice Elementary school did say the school was aware of, and considering taking actions against, the persons “who illegally taped and distributed a video recording of a private class activity.”

Message to the genius public educators at B.Bernice Elementary school in Burlington Township, New Jersey: devise a better public relations strategy.

You might also be mindful of the fact that as a public school, your accountability is to the people of your district.

Obviously no conspiracy is at work here. The source of the video recording is easy to narrow down — this isn’t an ACORN style sting operation. This was likely made by a parent, someone either proud or concerned, who taped the children singing. They were most likely in plain sight of the teacher and the children in attendance. This is their right as a tax-paying parent.

But to the geniuses at B. Bernice elementary school, I want to further add that you might also be mindful that parents do have a say in what you do or do not expose their children to in your attempt to “educate” them. In fact it might be more helpful for everyone if you would stick to teaching 4-6 year olds that “2+2=4,” that “A-n-d is “and’,” and that “yellow and blue make green.”

There is a reason we do not allow kindergarteners in this nation to cast votes in elections. Political philosopohy, worldview, and worship of dieties are something they have not yet quite gotten a handle on.

Raising hands of praise to President Obama’s “accomplishments” is not just inappropriate it’s entirely premature.

Those at the B.Bernice Elementary School in Burlington Township, New Jersey, may be unable to overcome their sycophantic Obama obsessions, but the children of America should not be required to chant his name, raise their hands, and repeat dogma that may not be exactly based in reality.

But what do I know? After all, I’m just a tax-paying parent.

Apparently, Charisse Carney-Nunes, an Obama supporter, posted the video (and has since removed the link in wake of the firestorm). Michelle Malkin has some details:

Via ModernConservative, Carney-Nunes is senior vice president of The Jamestown Project, “the award-winning author of the children’s books, I Am Barack Obama (2009),” and according to her biography, “a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was a schoolmate of President Obama.” I have e-mailed Carney-Nunes for comment as well.

The Obama school song video that she taped shows her book featured on an easel next to the children hailing Dear Leader. She promotes her book as a tool that “allows children to see themselves through the inspirational story of President Obama growing up as an ordinary child asking, Who will change the world? Ultimately, he realizes that he will.”

She has spread this creepy cult message to schoolchildren across the country.

Scared Monkeys:

A message from the school, and yes this was a sanctioned public school activity:

    Dear Burlington Township Families:

    Today we became aware of a video that was placed on the internet which has been reported in the media. The video is of a class of students singing a song about President Obama. The activity took place during Black History Month in 2009, which is recognized each February to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country. Our curriculum studies, honors and recognizes those who serve our country. The recording and distribution of the class activity were unauthorized.

    If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me or Dr. King, Principal of B. Bernice Young School, directly.

    Sincerely,
Dr. Christopher M. Manno,
Superintendent of Schools

“Have you considered the meaning of that word ‘worthy’? Weigh it well….I had rather you should be worthy possessors of one thousand pounds honestly acquired by your own labor and industry, than of tens of millions by banks and tricks….I had rather you should be worthy makers of brooms and baskets than unworthy presidents of the United States procured by intrigue, factious slander and corruption” - Letter of John Adams to his grandson

“It is an idea of the Christian religion, and ever has been of all believers of the immortality of the soul, that the intellectual part of man is capable of progressive improvement forever. Where then is the sense of calling the ‘perfectibility of man’ an original idea or modern discovery….I consider [this idea] as used by modern philosophers [e.g. French Enlightenment thinkers] to be mere words without meaning, that is mere nonsense.” – Letter of John Adams to Benjamin Rush

The last month or so, I’ve been enjoying the Pulitzer Prize-winning book on John Adams by David McCullough. [It was recently turned into a highly acclaimed HBO miniseries starring Paul Giamatti with McCullough serving as consultant.] It’s pretty LARGE in more ways than one. It’s funny how examining ‘roots’ helps us figure out what feathered ‘wings’ we’ve got fluttering around our ears these days. There are several correlations between then and now I would like to point out.

JOHN ADAMS

Adams:  Clear-sighted & Accurate Predictor

One thing that has become clear to me is just how far ahead of the curve Adams was in several important ways. It is almost breathtaking how much Adams saw and predicted things correctly, but the flip side of that is just how unappreciated this was at the time. He foresaw that Washington would be THE leader because of his character, morality and determination, and his unique circumstances, despite his lack of experience as a general. He foresaw that the Navy would be the critical factor in the coming War and beyond. Almost alone, he sensed that help should be gotten from France, Holland, Prussia and Portugal without becoming entangled in their political battles; just about everyone else wanted to back some horse or another. Looking back, he was almost certainly THE key figure in pushing “independency”, in getting financial help from Holland and in providing the theoretical backdrop for the New Constitution. He saw that human nature demanded the bicameral legislature and strong executive with an independent court system and that the unicameral model was fraught with enormous danger. He was right about the good outcome of the first in America and the violent, chaotic outcome of the French Reign of Terror in the second. He predicted what happened before it did because his analysis was dead on. And yet, he was smeared as being a little crazy, much too old, a closet royalist (!) and hopelessly out of touch!

John Adams was almost a sitting duck for criticism in that his ethic precluded his benefiting from what he saw as his duty. Adams was a very unusual diplomat and politician in that he was almost apolitical in certain ways. He consciously battled his own ambition and made love of country and heroic virtue his standard. He lamented the standard view of diplomacy as deception, deep compromise and double-mindedness in favor of polite but spirited preaching of the attractiveness and power of true principles coupled with an ingenious insight into human character and motivations.

Oh, he had his faults. The musical “1776” lampoons his famous lack of sensitivity to others and his own oversensitive nature. His writing was sometimes slap-dash, not organized and not well-expressed. His thoughts seemed to others at times to come out of nowhere in ways that were strange and weird. But lack of perseverance, charity and regard for others were certainly not among his faults. His character and capacity for deep friendship were recognized even by his enemies.

Adams vs. Jefferson: Faithful Realism vs. Ambitious Idealism

This brings us to a second great theme of this book: the love-hate relationship Adams experienced with Thomas Jefferson. They were the two key collaborators on the Declaration of Independence. They had become bosom friends in the many years they spent together in Europe, to the point where even Abigail Adams helped Jefferson with his daughter and corresponded with him on a regular basis in an impressively deep way.

They grew apart in the first years of the new Republic. Jefferson, surreptitiously, became the main moving force of the Anti-Federalist Party. He stopped writing to and visiting the Adams family. Adams, meanwhile, deplored political parties and angered people of both parties. Though he often spoke ill of the character of Hamilton from his own Federalist Party, he rarely spoke publicly about Jefferson. He made several overtures of regard toward Jefferson and, at the beginning of Adams’ Presidency, for a fleeting moment, it seemed they were going to work together, but Jefferson drew back again.

Privately, Adams worried about the character flaws he saw in his old friend. The one amazing thing McCullough hits on is that Adams was more correct about his appraisal of Jefferson’s character and motivations than Jefferson was about himself! Adams saw that despite Jefferson’s brilliance in linguistic expression and his sharpness of insight in things impersonal and mechanical, he was, unbeknownst to himself perhaps, truly driven by ambition and a theoretical idealism which did not fit reality. He trusted in his own persona and tended to think anything was justifiable because he was right about his pro-French stance. He even wrote, after most were horrified by the Reign of Terror in France, that all the violence was entirely justified! ‘Let only an Adam and Eve be left in every country if that is the way it has to be.’ Such an ‘ends justifies the means’ attitude seems to betray a disquieting self-centered radicalism that anticipates the Marxism of our day.

Jefferson eventually came to admit implicitly much that Adams had seen long before. He was ashamed of some of the political underhandedness to which he had resorted. He was so scarred by his experience as President that he deliberately did not mention it on his gravestone. His secret rationalism and lack of personal faith warmed in later years, I believe. Though he had criticized declarations of days of prayer, intercession or thanksgiving being declared by Washington and Adams, he ended up doing such things himself when he became President.

In fact, the two great Founders would become intimate friends again by the time they both died on the same day, amazingly the Fourth of July 1826, the fiftieth anniversary of their Great Collaboration. Adams said, “Oh, yes, it is the glorious fourth of July. God bless it. God bless you all…Thomas Jefferson lives.” And Jefferson said, a few hours before, “I resign my spirit to God, my daughter and my country.” Despite his complicated personality, Jefferson seemed to die with a laudable faith and a renewed regard for the insight of Adams.

[By the way, I am not condemning Jefferson. I admire and honor him. The Revolution would not have happened without him and his work on the Declaration. He was absolutely right in a great deal of his thoughts and was brilliant in expressing them. We wouldn’t have key elements of our common political faith without his further emphases on the Bill of Rights, for instance. Everyone, including Washington and Adams, had notable faults, too. However, there can be little doubt that Adams’ laser-like insight was right again about Jefferson in that he wasn’t very consistent about practicing what he preached and this affected his politics.]

Contrast in Leadership Styles

The big lesson here is about leadership attitude. Washington and Adams modeled a serviceable humility as opposed to ideology and ambition. We can’t presume to decide what the mission is; we have to find out what the Lord’s mission is for us on the basis of submission to human nature and nature’s God. The law has to be greater than the man. John Adams understood that; Jefferson didn’t, though he sometimes professed it. That’s why Adams accurately predicted the outcome of both the French and the American Revolutions and Jefferson was dead wrong. Like his friend Washington, Adams routinely appealed to Providence and grace in regard to the nation’s destiny and purpose. Jefferson earlier tended to worship his reason as a god; Adams worshipped God for good reason.

(By the way, the one big rap on Adams’ Presidency was the Alien & Sedition Acts. McCullough concedes it was public relations fiasco, but points out that the context was imminent war. EVERYONE thought war with France was GOING to happen, and the XYZ Affair indicated the espionage threat, so some radical measures had to be taken.

OBAMA

Obama et al: Ambitious Idealists

Now what about Obama, Reid, Pelosi et al? Can there be any doubt that theirs is well-concealed but rabid ambition matched with blind far-left idealism that is also driving them, that they are the antithesis of what was good about Adams? Because their orientation is not a humble faith attitude and realism, their ability to see what’s really going on and to predict what will happen is seriously crippled. Their expectation of ‘perfectibility’ or constant progress is nonsense.

It seems very clear to me that Obama, like Jefferson, has enormous faith in his own reason, charm and personal appeal. Meanwhile, the founding principles are sloughed aside. We are NOT a Christian or religious nation, he says, we are secular in origin (although Turkey is a Muslim nation!). He can sometimes talk a good game about democracy and the founding principles on the surface, but many of his other words and all of his actions betray the Marxist marination he undoubtedly has experienced in his life. So, he waits for long agonizing days as the pro-democracy demonstrators in Iran suffer, then he jumps on the perfectly legal deposing of a Marxist dictator in Honduras. Like Jefferson, his vision is skewed by his secular faith.

The new Triumvirate seems to want to overpower, circumvent and frustrate the checks and balances the Federalist Founders Madison, Adams et al so wisely put into the Constitution. As Obama let slip early on, he sees the Constitution as a barrier to his purposes. He is setting up “Czars” beyond the reach of appeal, responsibility or reason at a record-setting clip while he relies heavily on the Presidential pen-wielding he criticized so much in his predecessor. They mouth the catch-words of “bipartisanship” or “no politics as usual” while brutally overpowering any remonstration or even thought; we can’t even read the bills. It is a violent legislative Reign of Terror rationalized because the ends will justify the means.

How are Those Promises and Predictions Going?

Obama said he would be able to ‘talk’ with North Korea and the Iranian despots. Things are not going quite as he said they would, are they? He stood at the Caterpillar plant and said they’d be hiring very soon. They’re firing. He made many promises about levels of taxation. Any and all of those promises have now quite obviously and laughably gone up in smoke. He promised to close Guantanamo and then accepted the status quo. He heartily criticized Bush’s Iraq Policy and then did the same. He rejected Presidential directives as imperial and now is doing more of them than ever…and on and on and on.

Jefferson was totally blindsided by the violence in France but still predicted they would defeat England and spread ‘democracy’ throughout Europe within a very short time. Adams predicted the violence and said a dictator would surely follow. Jefferson was totally shocked by the rise of Napoleon; Adams said ‘I told you so’. Who does Obama resemble more?

CONCLUSION

We can only hope that these people, like Jefferson, will come to their senses before they, too, meet their Maker; let them change like Jefferson before all the likely economic chaos and loss of freedom they might cause!

Obama fails to see as John Adams did that “our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people”. An American President should take Washington or Adams as models. It wasn’t all about them, their genius or their persona; it was about humble but strong service. Adams would feel shame that the founding vision is being so abused. If Adams’ words and example cannot melt Obama’s pride, it’s a damned shame.

Liberals are giddy over revealing photos of Miss California, Carrie Prejean (good Lord! She’s still in the news cycle?!), surfacing on the ‘net, with the first of six released, thus far:

With partially nude photos of her popping up on Web sites questioning her Christian credentials, Miss California USA Carrie Prejean has fired back, claiming the racy pictures are just modeling shots and vowing to continue her battle against same-sex marriage.

“I am a Christian, and I am a model,” Prejean said in a statement released overnight to the media. “Models pose for pictures, including lingerie and swimwear photos. Recently, photos taken of me as a teenager have been released surreptitiously to a tabloid Web site that openly mocks me for my Christian faith. I am not perfect, and I will never claim to be.”

~~~
The Web site thedirty.com… claimed that it had six pictures of Prejean. As of Tuesday morning, it had posted one on its site. The picture shows Prejean wearing nothing but a pair of revealing pink panties and smiling over her shoulder at the camera. Her breasts are covered by her arm.
The picture was deemed too racy to be shown on the TODAY Show.
Too “racy” for the TODAY Show?  Give me a break!  A year ago, the Today Show had no issue with showing a “racy” photo of influential teen star, Miley Cyrus.  Make no mistake:  They’re only feigning the photo is too risque for their viewing audience, because they share an agenda with like-minded liberals, out to nail another conservative to a cross.
They’re dragging Prejean through the mud for saying the following:
“I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage; and you know what? I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”
Oh, how outrageous that was!  That she expressed a personal opinion!  That she exercised the freedom of speech liberal “progressives” so love to champion.  Oh, wait…I see the problem:  She expressed a conservative opinion and viewpoint.  Hence, the indignation and attempt to ridicule and slime her.
Meanwhile, we have a PotUS who also claims to read the Bible and who has stated a similar view.  To the Chicago Tribune:
“I’m a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.”
Where is the lefty outrage?  Oh, I get it:  Prejean was contesting for the highly exalted Miss USA distinction.  Obama, on the other hand, campaigned to be elected to the lowly office of President of the United States of America.  It all makes sense to me, now.  He doesn’t really mean it.
Maybe liberals are giving now-President Obama a free pass on his hate-filled, anti-gay, hurtful and insensitive comments because they believe that in his heart, he does sympathize with the plight of gay marriage; that he is merely expressing what is politically necessary and expedient for him to say.  Supporting the traditional definition of marriage is the position and belief of the mainstream majority in America.
Of course, if this is the case, then it makes President Obama a weak, moral coward for not standing up for core beliefs and principles; and Prejean a hero for standing up and defending her beliefs amidst a hailstorm of criticism from the liberal elites in the media.  Obama saying anything to win the presidency; Prejean saying what she believes, even if it costs her the crown.
And if you truly think it scandalous that Prejean posed for “racy” photos prior to running for Miss USA.  May I remind you of the “racy” photos of Obama before he ran for president.  These were leaked to us at Flopping Aces, through a simple Google search, and are highly graphic and tastelessly tabloidian.
Flopping Aces had serious reservations  over whether or not to republish these well-known topless Obama photos, as they are deemed inappropriate for our younger readers; and deemed “extremely racy” even by FA standards.   But after careful deliberation through long hours into the night and much hand-wringing, we feel it important enough that these be published in a responsible manner and not merely to drive-up our readership and FA merchandise sales.  Our objective isn’t sensationalism and agenda-driven right-wing propaganda; but an honest desire to expose mainstream media hypocrisy and liberal elitism  (<blink>Warning!</blink>:  Graphic photos- may be inappropriate for all ages):
These topless photos of the PotUS before he knew he would become the dignified leader of the free world have been floating around out there for a couple of years now….and the media uproar today is all but silent on them.
Quite revealing….
