Often times, the question not asked speaks more about a person’s beliefs and values then the questions asked. Likewise, the lack of questions and concern regarding the current state of affairs in the world not only speaks volumes about the current state of the Democratic Party but also of the current state of this country.

One would think honor killings, beheadings, suppression of all women’s rights, and suppression of democracy and freedom of religion by al-Qaeda and other Islamic terror networks are not occurring judging from the lack of concern, but they are. You would think people are not being killed for being Christian, but they are. One would not think that we are in a war with an enemy for the survival of Democracy. Freedom of Religion, and Women’s Rights, but we are.

N.O.W. cares more about killing babies and gay marriage then the everyday abuses of women by radical Islam. How sad is that? Read the rest of this entry »

Nope, No Irony Here

So, a film condemning a religion because it oppresses women, homosexuals, freedom of religion and Democracy might be censored in the name of human rights. Gotta love it!

IRAN WARNS DUTCH LAWMAKER’S ANTI-KORAN FILM WILL ‘BREED VIOLENCE’

THE HAGUE, Netherlands — Iran warned on Tuesday that an anti-Quran film by a maverick right-wing Dutch lawmaker would “breed violence” and said the Dutch government could ban it based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Geert Wilders, leader of the Freedom Party, has said he plans to air the film this month, though no date has been set. The government says it is powerless to ban the film before seeing its contents and is wary of breaching Wilders’ right to freedom of expression. Read the rest of this entry »

TYLER, Texas — Republican presidential hopeful John McCain mocked Barack Obama’s view of al-Qaida in Iraq, and Democratic contender responded that GOP policies brought the terrorist group there. McCain criticized Obama for saying in Tuesday night’s Democratic debate that, after U.S. troops were withdrawn, as president he would act “if al-Qaida is forming a base in Iraq.” “I have some news. Al-Qaida is in Iraq. It’s called `al-Qaida in Iraq,’” McCain told a crowd in Tyler, Texas, drawing laughter at Obama’s expense. He said Obama’s statement was “pretty remarkable,” Read the rest of this entry »

Chavez Gets Caught Stealing.

Exxon wins freeze on $12 billion of Venezuelan assets

NEW YORK - Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) has won court orders freezing up to $12 billion in Venezuelan assets around the world as it fights for compensation for operations lost to President Hugo Chavez’s nationalization drive.

The largest U.S. company sought the asset freeze to guarantee repayment should it win arbitration over the Cerro Negro heavy oil project.

The move is the boldest challenge yet by an international oil major against any of the governments around the world that have moved to increase their holds on natural resources as energy and commodity prices have soared.

Global Warming: Case Closed?

Posted by: Rob @ 9:00 pm in Environment

As I have said before, basic science and liberals, apparently the twain shall never meet. Global warming has sadly been the subject of so much hot air (sorry, I can’t resist) and become so politicized that the subject is now close to religious doctrine. My own personal theory was that since it is the sun’s radiation that powers our climate, it would make sense to study the sun and look at other planets to see if there have been any fluctuations with their weather cycle which would provide evidence on why our own is changing. And not surprisingly, there is some useful data out there that the MSM is conveniently ignoring.

Mars Melt Hints at Solar, Not Human, Cause for Warming, Scientist Says
Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars suggests that our planet’s recent climate changes have a natural—and not a human-induced—cause, according to one scientist’s controversial theory.

The Unreported War

Posted by: Rob @ 9:30 pm in Israel/Palestine

While the media obsesses over Iraq and how we treat Al-Qaeda in our
prison camps, another war that is happening daily remains unreported by
our “media” If one would believe their reporting, one might almost
think this is not terrorism, judging by their silence on the matter.

Where
are the libs and the MSM on this? Probably the same place the cowards
N.O.W. are when they have replied “no comment” when confronted with
abuses of women under Islam.

I can’t understand why Israel is skeptical on the matter and hesitant to give over more land for peace. (sarcasm)

I
really do not understand why Israel does not strike back against these
terrorists. Of course, you can predict the outcry from the pacifists
and the liberal left if they do.

And to that, I reply:

Only
liberal societies tolerate Pacifists. In the liberal society, the
number of Pacifists will either be large enough to cripple the state as
a belligerent, or not. If not, you have done nothing. If it is large
enough, then you have handed over the state which does tolerate
Pacifists to its totalitarian neighbor who does not. Pacifism of this
kind is taking the straight road to a world in which there will be no
Pacifists.

Cs. Lewis

Pacifism is objectively
pro-fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war
effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other. Nor
is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present
one. In practice, ‘he that is not with me is against me’

- George Orwell, writing about pacifists in Britain during 1942

If
we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our
rising prosperity, it must be known that we are at all times ready for
war.
- George Washington

War is an ugly thing, but not
the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and
patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much
worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight,
nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a
miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept
so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Israel’s war
is our war. The same group who wish to destroy Israel, who do not even
recognize their right to exist, are the same that hate us. Even when
Israel was willing to give back all the occupied territories for peace,
the moderate Arabs (the minority) demanded the right of return, which
would have effectively destroyed the Jewish State. The radical arabs
(the majority) continued to seek to drive the Jews into the sea or kill
them all.

People might say I am anti-Arab. I will reply I will be pro-Arab when they..

1) Recognize Israel’s right to exist.
2) Allow religious freedom.
3) Allow true Democracy.
4) Allow basic human rights and full rights for women.

Until that day I support Israel.

Two Weekend Stories

Posted by: Rob @ 9:18 pm in Venezuela, War On Terror

The Gateway Pundit reports that the Dictator Chavez claims to have won.

CHAVEZ WINS!!!
Aljazeera reports:

Hugo
Chavez, the Venezuelan president, is heading for victory in a
referendum on allowing him to remain in power as long as he keeps
winning elections, two government-linked sources said citing exit polls.
Reuters reports that “Government Sources” have confirmed that Chavez has won.

Sky News and China News are reporting the win for Chavez.
Ahmadinejad ought to be calling soon for congrats.

Daniel in Venzuela says it is not yet over- the mess is growing.
Miguel is reporting that the Chavistas have withdrawn their congratulatory ad for the papers tomorrow.

Also, we have further proof that human rights hate crime laws are a threat to free speech as they try to quiet Mark Steyn.

Canada’s largest non-profit Islamic organization launches complaints over Mark Steyn’s article, “The Future Belongs to Islam”

The
Canadian Islamic Congress–Canada’s largest non-profit Islamic body–has
launched two human rights complaints against Maclean’s and its
editor-in-chief, Kenneth Whyte. The complaints’ subject is “The Future
Belongs to Islam,” an excerpt from Mark Steyn’s book “America Alone:
The End of the World as We Know It,” which appeared in the magazine’s
Oct. 23, 2006, issue.

Complaints were submitted to Human
Rights Commissions in B.C. and Ontario on the grounds that “the article
subjects Canadian Muslims to hatred and contempt,” according to a CIC
press release. In the release, the CIC labels Steyn’s article as
“flagrantly Islamophobic.”

Faisal Joseph is the CIC’s legal
counsel on the matter. “In Canada, we have 750,000 law-abiding
Muslims,” he says. “When you read that article, it sounds to some
people [like] there’s an attack from the ‘Muslim’ world against the
‘non-Muslim’ world. We take real issue with that type of
characterization and the implications of it.”

In response, a
Maclean’s spokesperson provided the following statement: “Mark Steyn is
a thoughtful and experienced journalist, and the piece was a commentary
on important global political issues. It was not in any sense
Islamophobic, and Maclean’s is confident that the Human Rights
Commissions will find no merit in the complaints.”

I guess no one sees the irony that muslims are using human rights laws to censor a human rights. (free speech)

And I just want to remind you of this story crossposted from Conservative Thoughts

From The Midnight Sun
- Just north of the U.S., in Canada, a waitress is in danger of being
imprisoned for posting non-PC Bible verses on the net. The Canadian
Human Rights Tribunal has actually threatened to imprison 21-year-old
waitress Jessica Beaumont for posting Bible quotations online. Although
Ms. Beaumont’s home has been raided by the police, she has not yet been
criminally charged for her politically incorrect views, because she has
broken no laws. That’s why the Tribunal was utilized to keep her mouth
closed — by throwing her in prison for “human rights” violations if
necessary. Beaumont’s impermissible opinions were accompanied by two
Bible verses frowned upon by liberals:

Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable. –LEVITICUS 18:22
If a man lies with man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done
what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on
their own heads. –LEVITICUS 20:13

The
CHRT has barred her from posting similar remarks, even on websites
hosted in other countries. By simply posting biblical scripture, she
could be jailed for up to five years. How’s that for a precedent? We
might want to stop worrying about human rights in Pakistan, and pay
some attention to what’s going on just over our northern border –
especially since we’ve been traveling down the same road.

People
just love to give stuff away. Here in Maryland we vote to give away
more and more of our money. In Venezuelan way too many idiots voted
(with the help of voter fraud) to give up their rights. And here in the
US way to many Americans stand by while our very Freedom of Speech is
being threatened.

Stupid.

Is Christmas Facing A Death Sentence?

Posted by: Rob @ 10:56 am in Moonbats

ACLU Leads the Fight for Execution

Christmas is supposed to be a time of fun and laughter. A time when family and friends get together to share the joy and warmth of friendship, and remember the birth of the Christ Child in Bethlehem on a night so long ago. But, over the past several years the Grinches have been working overtime trying to destroy everything that is a part of the Christmas Holiday, and it seems they are striving to be rid of it altogether.

I can’t imagine a world without Christmas. My recollection of Christmases of bygone years has always held many very fond memories. The first that comes to mind is the yearly visit from Santa every child in our family looked forward to in the days before Christmas. Without fail, the jolly old elf would appear at the door after dark, laughing a merry “Ho Ho Ho” and lugging a huge red bag filled with gifts. He knew the name of each child in the household, and after a round of hugs, would call them one by one to step up and receive a gift from his bag. As years passed, I found that the Saint Nick, who arrived like clockwork each year, was my uncle, George Healy. I don’t know how many years Uncle George made the rounds to family households, but he certainly put a lot of joy in the hearts of the children he brought gifts to. But, I think he probably found as much, or even more delight in the yearly visits than the children. It seemed that his role as the giver of gifts brought him a sense of satisfaction, because he loved being the bearer of gifts and glad tidings. And, I’m sure all those smiles he put on so many faces was really the only present he ever wanted for Christmas.

In those days gone by, Thanksgiving was always the day that marked what I thought was the beginning of the Christmas season. There was something magical in the air on Thanksgiving morning, and by the end of the day there was a sense of anticipation.

Tom Cruise, Robert Redford and Meryl Streep were starved out of the top 10 when the three-weekend-old Lions for Lambs took in just $1.2 million from Friday to Sunday, per Box Office Mojo stats. To date, the movie has grossed $13.8 million. Cruise, for one, hasn’t starred or costarred in a film that has made less than Lions for Lambs since he was 20 and in Losin’ It.
1. Enchanted, $35.3 million
2. This Christmas, $18.6 million
3. Beowulf, $16.2 million
4. Hitman, $13 million
5. Bee Movie, $12 million
6. Fred Claus, $10.7 million
7. August Rush, $9.4 million
8. American Gangster, $9.2 million
9. The Mist, $9.1 million
10. No Country for Old Men, $8.1 million

If I may paraphrase the plot, a guy who believes aliens live in volcanoes stars in a movie whose goal is to get America to abandon a Democracy and a war we are already winning and turn it into a defeat while trying to make themselves sound moral, intelligent, and American. Apparently Saddam’s genocide and rape rooms or Al Qaeda’s mass beheadings and Islamo-fascism is not such a bad thing and not worth fighting against and Democracy is not worth Fighting for.

I just don’t understand why the movie is not successful.

Curt, if I may please steal an image from Flopping Aces for a bit……

…..There, much better.

Take a guess

Islamic advocacy groups have forced the LAPD’s counterterrorism branch to back down.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A police plan to map out Muslim
communities, a proposal that civil rights groups sharply criticized as
racial and religious profiling, has been shelved, a police spokeswoman
said Wednesday.

The LAPD planned to have its counterterrorism bureau identify Muslim
enclaves to determine which might be likely to become isolated and
susceptible to “violent, ideologically based extremism.”

Several Muslim groups and the American Civil Liberties Union of
Southern California criticized the plan and sent a letter to Deputy
Chief Michael P. Downing expressing their concerns.

“There was a clear message from the Muslim community that they were
not comfortable with it. So we listened,” said Mary Grady, spokeswoman
for the Los Angeles Police Department. She couldn’t immediately say
when the plan might resume. Grady said the remaining part of the
initiative, which includes outreach efforts to strengthen ties with
Muslim communities, would continue, and police planned to meet with
Muslim leaders Thursday.

In a statement, Salam Al-Marayati, executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, praised the
decision. “I am glad to hear (Downing) is putting the plan aside,”
Al-Marayati said. “All Muslim organizations are united in purpose to
defend the rights of Muslim Americans while developing a positive and
constructive relationship with the LAPD.”

Well, terrorists and enemies of America, you know where you can hide now. Not only are the police backing down, but it sounds they are following the tried and true liberal method of combating terrorism, denial and appeasement.

Let me ask you, if there was a rash of gang violence due to MS-13, would it not be sensible to know where illegal, oh sorry, undocumented workers, are living in your city? Well, if Al Qaeda was planning an attack at a mall, (news flash, they are) where do you think they will hide? It won’t be in the city’s Jewish community.

Like 9-11, when the next attack comes, we will have only ourselves to blame when we find out we had the power to stop it but decided to look the other way.

Victory at University of Delaware!

A victory won!

University Dumps Thought Reform Program

November 1, 2007

Late
Thursday, University of Delaware President Patrick Harker released on
the school’s website a Message to the University of Delaware Community
terminating the university’s ideological reeducation program, which
FIRE condemned as an exercise in thought reform. He stated, “I have
directed that the program be stopped immediately. No further activities
under the current framework will be conducted.” Harker also called for
a “full and broad-based review” of the program’s practices and
purposes. While concerns remain about the University of Delaware’s
commitment to free expression, FIRE commends President Harker for his
decision to immediately terminate the Orwellian residence life
education program. FIRE will have more on this development tomorrow.
President Harker’s message is reproduced in full below.

A Message to the University of Delaware Community

Nov. 1, 2007

The
University of Delaware strives for an environment in which all people
feel welcome to learn, and which supports intellectual curiosity,
critical thinking, free inquiry and respect for the views and values of
an increasingly diverse population. The University is committed to the
education of students as citizens, scholars and professionals and their
preparation to contribute creatively and with integrity to a global
society. The purpose of the residence life educational program is to
support these commitments.

While I believe that recent press
accounts misrepresent the purpose of the residential life program at
the University of Delaware, there are questions about its practices
that must be addressed and there are reasons for concern that the
actual purpose is not being fulfilled. It is not feasible to evaluate
these issues without a full and broad-based review.

Upon the
recommendation of Vice President for Student Life Michael Gilbert and
Director of Residence Life Kathleen Kerr, I have directed that the
program be stopped immediately. No further activities under the current
framework will be conducted.

Vice President Gilbert will work
with the University Faculty Senate and others to determine the proper
means by which residence life programs may support the intellectual,
cultural and ethical development of our students.

Patrick Harker

President

Yes, working together, we can make a difference.
This is a victory for freedom of speech and freedom of thought for all
of the students on our universities. Thank you Flopping Aces and all of
you for all your hard work and keep up the good fight!

UPDATE

Curt adds:

Check out FIRE’s Greg Lukianoff talking to Glenn Beck about the Socialism program at the University:

So, anyone think Christianity is not under attack?

Through thousands of military burials, Memorial Honor Detail volunteers at Riverside National Cemetery in California have folded the American flag 13 times and recited the significance of every fold to survivors of those being laid to rest.

The first fold, a narrator tells relatives, represents life, the second a belief in eternal life.
The 11th fold celebrates Jewish war veterans and glorifies the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

A single complaint lodged against the words for the 11th fold recently prompted the National Cemetery Administration to ban the entire recital at all 125 national cemeteries.

A spokesman in Washington said the complaint originated from someone who witnessed the ceremony at Riverside National but would provide no other details and declined to release the directive banning the flag-folding recital, saying it was “an internal working document not meant for public distribution.”

Veterans are furious.

“That the actions of one disgruntled, whining, narcissistic and intolerant individual is preventing veterans from getting the honors they deserve is truly an outrage,” said Rees Lloyd, 59, a Vietnam-era veteran and Memorial Honor Detail volunteer. “This is another attempt by secularist fanatics to cleanse any reference to God.”

World War II Navy sailor Bobby Castillo, 85, another member of Memorial Honor Detail 12, called the federal decision “a slap in the face to every veteran.”

“When we got back from the war, we didn’t ask for a whole lot,” said Castillo, who was wounded in 1944 as he supported the Allied landings in France. “We just want to give our veterans the respect they deserve. No one has ever complained to us about it. I just don’t understand.”

The pair, part of a team that has performed military honors at more than 1,400 services, said they were preparing to read the flag-folding remarks when workers in a staff car came up to them and stopped them.

Charlie Waters, parliamentarian for the American Legion of California, said he’s advising memorial-honor details to ignore the edict, even if it means being kicked out of cemeteries.

“This is nuts,” Waters, a Korean War veteran, said in a telephone interview from Fresno. “There are 26 million veterans in this country and they’re not going to take us all to prison.”

Mike Nacincik, a spokesman for the National Cemetery Administration, said the new policy, which was outlined in a Sept. 27 memo, is aimed at creating uniform services throughout the military graveyard system.

He said the 13-fold recital is not part of the U.S. Flag Code and is not government-approved. After the complaint made its way through government channels, Steve Muro, director of field operations, wrote the new policy.

Nacincik said that while the flag-folding narrative includes references to God that the government does not endorse, the main reason for the new rules is uniformity.

“We are looking at consistency,” Nacincik said. “We think that’s important.”

As for comments that the edict is an attack on religious beliefs, Nacincik said, “People are going to have their own views on that.”

Rabbi Yitzhak Miller, of Temple Beth El in Riverside, said he understands the government’s decision to ban the recitation but believes it is a quick solution to a complex issue.

“It is a perfect example of government choosing to ignore religion in order to avoid offending some religions,” Miller said. “To me, ignoring religion in general is just as problematic as endorsing any one religion.”

“We’re going to fight this tooth and nail, hammer and boot,” he said.
The link is here.

Here’s the banned recital: from Michelle Malkin

Flag folds

These meanings, not part of the U.S. Flag Code, have been ascribed to the 13 folds of American flags at veterans burial services:

1. Symbol of life.
2. Symbol of our belief in the eternal life.
3. In honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks who gave a portion of life for the defense of our country to attain a peace throughout the world.
4. Represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in times of war for His divine guidance.
5. A tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.”
6. Represents where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
7. A tribute to our armed forces.
8. A tribute to the one who entered in to the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor mother, for whom it flies on Mother’s Day.
9. A tribute to womanhood.
10. A tribute to father.
11. In the eyes of a Hebrew citizen, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
12. In the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost.
13. When the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, “In God We Trust.”

Fellow blogger Brujo Blanco reports:

The last government organization I would have expected to take a shot at Christianity is the Veterans Administration. However, it is a government agency and subject to the typical brain cramps of the politically correct.

There have been thousands of military burials that have included a flag-folding ceremony. Each time the flag is folded there is a religious recitation. Now because of a complaint this is no longer permitted which has been so ordered by the National Cemetery Association. They have prohibited employees and volunteers from conducting such ceremonies. The complaint regarding this ceremony is the religious content.

For those liberals that have not lost a family member or close friend to combat or simply a friend that died on activity duty let me clue you in. When a military man is buried in a national cemetery or elsewhere they generally have a religious ceremony. Now the rule is that this one ceremony can be performed at any graveyard, except for one owned by the U.S. Government.  Wishes of the family or maybe even the dead soldier be damned. We must maintain the fictitious wall of separation between church and state.

According to Action Alert, this action has the force of making anti-Christian bigotry the law of the land. The U.S. Government has surrendered to the demand of one anti-Christian secularist. From my perspective this can not be allowed to stand. I personally devoted 22 years of my life to my country and when I die I want my family and friends to talk to God even in the presence of an offended atheist. It’s my funeral and that’s the way that I want it. In fact if given the opportunity I will defy this law. The American Legion has made a decision to do so that that is the way that I like it. The Legion’s official stance is that if the family of a fallen warrior wants the ceremony they will get it regardless of what the Veterans Administration has to say about it.

I have reason to identify this situation as anti-Christian and that is because if a Muslim cleric was denied the right to recite a religious ceremony the left would go nuts. Recent history has more than suggested that Christians and their organizations have been taking it in the shorts and other religions have not. There are a number of government run organizations are installing foot washing facilities and other such facilities for Muslims. The U.S. Marines at Quantico for example are building a Mosque. Other religions have to share the chapel but not the Muslims. They are getting what amounts to special treatment.

This latest action by the U.S. Government has demonstrated that they are folding to the anti-God squad. Little by little the existence of religion is being erased one inch at a time. The Christians should stand fast on this issue and not settle for any type of compromise. They should defy this action and pray and force the issue. Our constitution guarantees a right to freely practice religion. However,  the courts are allowing religion, Christianity in particular, to be slowly removed from public view. <em>The apparent goal is to get to a point wherein government cannot officially recognize or even acknowledge the existence of religion. If government cannot acknowledge the existence of religion then government cannot protect the right to worship.</em>

And if you are angry enough, here is the link to the National Cemetery Administration

Remember to ask for Mike Nacincik.

And What Do You Say Now, Moonbats?

Posted by: Rob @ 5:45 pm in War On Terror

Bin Laden said in the video that United States was vulnerable despite its power and insisted only conversion to Islam would end the conflict.

….only conversion to Islam would end the conflict.

So, it’s not about Iraq, it’s not about Israel, it’s not about Bush. It’s about Democracy and Freedom of Religion.

So, you are wrong, Cindy Sheehan, and Code Pink, and all the pacifists, moonbats, and idiot liberals. Talking will not work, negotiation will not work, appeasement will not work, and understanding will not work.

This is a war about religion, actually freedom of religion. It is this simple.

Your choice is this: Surrender and Convert, or fight the radical fundamentalists in Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, Asia, Europe, and America until they are all dead or we are dead. There is no other alternative. Simply, In Bin Laden’s own words, Peace means surrender or death. What do you choose?

Below is the quoted article in full:

DUBAI (Reuters) - Osama bin Laden urged insurgents in Iraq to unite with his al Qaeda followers, admitting that wrongs had been committed because of fanaticism, according to an audio recording aired on Monday.

“The interest of the Islamic nation surpasses that of a group … the interest of the (Islamic) nation is more important than that of a state,” said a voice which sounded like the al Qaeda leader’s in the tape carried by Al Jazeera television.

The recording was aired as Iraq’s government reported violence had dropped by 70 percent since the end of June, following a series of U.S.-led offensives against insurgents.

Iraq’s wing of al Qaeda is one of the key groups fighting U.S.-led forces and the Baghdad government, but bin Laden’s followers have angered other Sunni groups and tribes through their hardline interpretations of Islam and indiscriminate killing of civilians.

In Anbar, a former insurgent hotbed where Sunni Arab tribes have joined U.S. forces against al Qaeda, there has been an 82 percent drop in violent deaths, the government said. Read the rest of this entry »
