Look what crap can be found on the NEA’s website:

Recommended Reading: Saul Alinsky, The American Organizer

An inspiration to anyone contemplating action in their community! And to every organizer!

Saul Alinsky wrote the book on American radicalism – two books, in fact: a 1945 best-seller, “Reveille for Radicals” and “Rules for Radicals” in 1971. The “Reveille” title page quotes Thomas Paine… “Let them call me rebel and welcome, I feel no concern from it; but I should suffer the misery of devils, were I to make a whore of my soul.”

Saul Alinsky, who was a labor and civil-rights activist from the 1910’s until he died in 1972, has written here a guidebook for those who are out to change things. He sets down what the goal is: a society where people are free to live, and also aren’t starving in the streets. A society where there is legal and economic justice. Then he sets out to say how to get there.

Alinsky spends a lot of time critiquing the idea that “The end does not justify the means.” What end? What means? He feels that there are circumstances where one can and should use means that in other circumstances would be unethical. I am not sure I agree, but Alinsky certainly speaks with the voice of experience.

Alinsky’s goal seems to be to encourage positive social change by equipping activists with a realistic view of the world, a kind of preemptive disillusionment. If a person already knows what evil the world is capable of, then perhaps the surprise factor can be eliminated, making the person a more effective activist. Alinsky further seems to be encouraging the budding activist not to worry to much about getting his or her hands dirty. It’s all a part of the job, he seems to say. Read the rest of this entry »

CNN’s Ratings Falling Faster than Obama’s

from Powerline

CNN, which pioneered cable news, now rates dead last among cable news networks. Prime time ratings are down 68 percent since last year. Of course, much of that is due to 2008 being an election year, but CNN’s fall relative to the other news networks can’t be blamed on the election cycle.

Can some of CNN’s decline, at least, be attributed to the network’s liberalism in general and its attacks on and sniggering denigrations of, normal Americans? It’s hard to tell. But sniggerer-in-chief Anderson Cooper’s ratings are sliding into the toilet. (The midsummer blip was Michael Jackson’s death.):

CNN apparently has tried to market its on-air personalities by having them participate in the television show Jeopardy, thereby showing off their superior intelligence. That hasn’t worked out too well either. If the network really gets desperate, it could consider covering the news straight. But that isn’t likely: look how many newspapers have preferred to go bankrupt rather than abandon their liberal bias.

And the fun is not limited to the Communist News Network. Read the rest of this entry »

This is why you lose elections.

GOP officials: We won’t abandon Dede

The National Republican Congressional Committee remains committed to embattled GOP nominee Dede Scozzafava in the upstate New York House special election, even as many of the party’s top names throw their support to Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman.

Two party officials tell POLITICO that the NRCC will continue to air TV ads propping up Scozzafava in the days leading up to the Nov. 3 contest and plans to keep up a near relentless barrage of press releases slamming Hoffman.

Scozzafava, a state assemblywoman who supports gay marriage, abortion rights and has a close relationship with leading labor officials in her region, has been the target of sustained criticism from conservatives who claim she is too liberal for them to support her candidacy.

Hoffman, an accounting executive, is attracting an ever-growing group of conservative backers, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.) have also endorsed the third-party candidate.

Public and private polls have shown Hoffman gaining on Scozzafava but both trail the Democratic nominee, attorney Bill Owens.

Apparently the NAACP practices the very thing it protests against. Can you imagine what the outcry would be if we said the same thing? These people should be ashamed of themselves, but they are all liberal Dems, so they don’t even see the hypocrisy, and nor will the clueless Sun point it out.

NAACP fears appointment of white or Republican mayor if Dixon is convicted

Leaders of the Maryland NAACP, worried that a Baltimore mayor’s criminal conviction could result in the appointment of a white or Republican leader who may not fully represent the majority black and Democratic city, are asking state lawmakers to strip the governor of authority to permanently fill the office.

The request, made in a resolution adopted at a state meeting of the civil rights group last weekend, marks the first time a mainstream organization has raised questions about succession should Baltimore Mayor Dixon be convicted of any of the nine charges she faces. Dixon has been indicted for theft and perjury and the first of two trials is scheduled for early next month.

“There is that possibility of a conviction, and we want to know those protocols that are in place,” said Elbridge James, the political action chairman of the state National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. “If it looks like it is going to rain, I am going to buy an umbrella.”

Still, it is not clear that the resolution or a law change is warranted. According to Dan Friedman, an assistant attorney general who is counsel to the General Assembly, the governor does not have the authority to make an appointment. Read the rest of this entry »

“Stop talking about race and racism will end”
Morgan Freeman

It is 2009, and a black man has reached the most powerful position in this country. How does this fact change race relations in America? What is being done differently among both races in this country? Sadly, very little. Unfortunately race is still very much an issue in this country, but not in the way a liberal might think. Enter Congressman Hank Johnson and race bating Maxine Waters asking the media to investigate “birthers and the tea baggers” at rallies for their “racist views.” So now any opposition to Socialism and out of control spending is labeled racist by the libs.

One of the most fundamental right of a democracy is the right to criticize your leaders. And these attempt by the Democratic Party to eradicate this and make Obama unable to be criticized is a very dangerous concept at best. Taken to it’s logical conclusion, then the only politician or group of people open to criticism will be white men. And at that point, not only will free speech be threatened, but Democracy will also be in danger. The reason why liberals are okay with this is the same reason why liberals embraced Chavez and for the same reason they embraced Stalin in the 30’s and 40’s. They believe in socialism and care more about that then in free speech or the welfare of their country.

Most of the rest of America understands the danger in this course of action and will refuse to cower. Race relations thus, in the next three years, will go downhill. For you cannot have it both ways. You cannot expect to end racism and then practice it by reminding people of your race when it is politically convenient and expect a double standard to be accepted without resentment. You cannot claim to want to have a colorblind society when you refuse to be colorblind yourself. This also extrapolates to our culture at large, as affirmative action, the BET, and King’s vision are on opposite sides of the spectrum of this debate. Are there two sets of standards of justice? Absolutely, especially in the media. Notice the different coverage of the Philadelphia swim club and the Marshall attack at Firestone Stadium. Without a doubt there is white racism and that is reprehensible. But a failure to treat all racism by the same moral code will only ensure our society is never colorblind.

The truth is, there is no end game for the race peddlers like Sharpton and Jackson and their ilk in the NAACP, and that should lead to some troubling questions. For instance: Read the rest of this entry »

Once again the GOP is licking it’s wounds from another election loss. Recovering from this loss has been the focus of conservative politicians and pundits. But what many pundits do not realize is that there is another battle raging in the country that the GOP has been losing for decades. The battle has been over the culture of America. And if you think the two battles are not linked, think again.

Conservativism and the Religious Right has been effectively demonized in the popular culture while liberalism has effectively been mainstreamed into our TV sets and newspapers. And politics is nothing but perception. The real battle is not in the polls but in the courts, schools, media, and popular culture. And the Republican party has surrendered too many of these battlefields to the enemy. This does nothing but help us to lose elections.

The Problem: Politics vs. Perception

To the surprise of many conservative Catholics, twice of many Catholics voted for obama then McCain, despite Obama’s very pro-abortion record. This trend, if it continues, could spell death for the Conservative movement. And why is this the case? Well, the image of conservatives have defectively suffered. It’s leadership has lacked the ability to define itself, and thus allowed the liberals to do it for them in a negative light and thus claim the moral high ground, This is relatively the same as having Saddam Hussein sit in the Human Rights commission. (which is not too far off from others that have been in that seat) So what is a good conservative to do? Read the rest of this entry »

Sticker Shock

Posted by: Rob @ 7:37 am in Moonbats

These days it is a safe bet guessing someone’s political affiliation by counting the number of stickers on the back of their car. A Conservative might have two or three, but it is almost always the liberals that have more stickers on their car then Imelda Marcos has shoes. And as the teletubbies only makes sense to a 2 year old and is incomprehensible to an adult so liberal pride themselves on stickers that would shock and confuse anyone with a decent value system or a rudimentary intelligence. One of my favorites is “I am already against the next war.” It is difficult to think of a stupider statement then that. So no matter what transpires to this country, these jellyfish will stand idly by and let the country burn. So if someone wants to take away our right to vote or worship as we choose, or take away all rights of women, they will not stop them. Yes, I know liberals might find it hard to believe there are groups out there like that. So perhaps a better sticker would be ‘thank you for dying for my freedom, because my cowardly ass will not fight for crap.” This goes along the lines of “War never solves anything;” a phrase ignorant on so many levels. A more accurate bumper sticker would be “War never solved anything, Save slavery, National Socialism, Genocide, etc.“ Hell, our nation, a nation dedicated to Democracy and religious freedom was founded by war…. dummy. Often times, the question not asked speaks more about a person’s beliefs and values then the questions asked. Likewise, the lack of questions and concern regarding the current state of affairs in the world not only speaks volumes about the current state of the Democratic Party but also of the current state of this country.

One would think honor killings, beheadings, suppression of all women’s rights, and suppression of democracy and freedom of religion by al-Qaeda and other Islamic terror networks are not occurring judging from the lack of concern, but they are. You would think people are not being killed for being Christian, but they are. One would not think that we are in a war with an enemy for the survival of Democracy. Freedom of Religion, and Women’s Rights, but we are.

N.O.W. cares more about killing babies and gay marriage then the everyday abuses of women by radical Islam. How sad is that? Read the rest of this entry »

Nope, No Irony Here

So, a film condemning a religion because it oppresses women, homosexuals, freedom of religion and Democracy might be censored in the name of human rights. Gotta love it!

IRAN WARNS DUTCH LAWMAKER’S ANTI-KORAN FILM WILL ‘BREED VIOLENCE’

THE HAGUE, Netherlands — Iran warned on Tuesday that an anti-Quran film by a maverick right-wing Dutch lawmaker would “breed violence” and said the Dutch government could ban it based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Geert Wilders, leader of the Freedom Party, has said he plans to air the film this month, though no date has been set. The government says it is powerless to ban the film before seeing its contents and is wary of breaching Wilders’ right to freedom of expression. Read the rest of this entry »

TYLER, Texas — Republican presidential hopeful John McCain mocked Barack Obama’s view of al-Qaida in Iraq, and Democratic contender responded that GOP policies brought the terrorist group there. McCain criticized Obama for saying in Tuesday night’s Democratic debate that, after U.S. troops were withdrawn, as president he would act “if al-Qaida is forming a base in Iraq.” “I have some news. Al-Qaida is in Iraq. It’s called `al-Qaida in Iraq,’” McCain told a crowd in Tyler, Texas, drawing laughter at Obama’s expense. He said Obama’s statement was “pretty remarkable,” Read the rest of this entry »

Chavez Gets Caught Stealing.

Exxon wins freeze on $12 billion of Venezuelan assets

NEW YORK – Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) has won court orders freezing up to $12 billion in Venezuelan assets around the world as it fights for compensation for operations lost to President Hugo Chavez’s nationalization drive.

The largest U.S. company sought the asset freeze to guarantee repayment should it win arbitration over the Cerro Negro heavy oil project.

The move is the boldest challenge yet by an international oil major against any of the governments around the world that have moved to increase their holds on natural resources as energy and commodity prices have soared.

Global Warming: Case Closed?

Posted by: Rob @ 9:00 pm in Environment

As I have said before, basic science and liberals, apparently the twain shall never meet. Global warming has sadly been the subject of so much hot air (sorry, I can’t resist) and become so politicized that the subject is now close to religious doctrine. My own personal theory was that since it is the sun’s radiation that powers our climate, it would make sense to study the sun and look at other planets to see if there have been any fluctuations with their weather cycle which would provide evidence on why our own is changing. And not surprisingly, there is some useful data out there that the MSM is conveniently ignoring.

Mars Melt Hints at Solar, Not Human, Cause for Warming, Scientist Says
Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars suggests that our planet’s recent climate changes have a natural—and not a human-induced—cause, according to one scientist’s controversial theory.

The Unreported War

Posted by: Rob @ 9:30 pm in Israel/Palestine

While the media obsesses over Iraq and how we treat Al-Qaeda in our
prison camps, another war that is happening daily remains unreported by
our “media” If one would believe their reporting, one might almost
think this is not terrorism, judging by their silence on the matter.

Where
are the libs and the MSM on this? Probably the same place the cowards
N.O.W. are when they have replied “no comment” when confronted with
abuses of women under Islam.

I can’t understand why Israel is skeptical on the matter and hesitant to give over more land for peace. (sarcasm)

I
really do not understand why Israel does not strike back against these
terrorists. Of course, you can predict the outcry from the pacifists
and the liberal left if they do.

And to that, I reply:

Only
liberal societies tolerate Pacifists. In the liberal society, the
number of Pacifists will either be large enough to cripple the state as
a belligerent, or not. If not, you have done nothing. If it is large
enough, then you have handed over the state which does tolerate
Pacifists to its totalitarian neighbor who does not. Pacifism of this
kind is taking the straight road to a world in which there will be no
Pacifists.

Cs. Lewis

Pacifism is objectively
pro-fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war
effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other. Nor
is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present
one. In practice, ‘he that is not with me is against me’

- George Orwell, writing about pacifists in Britain during 1942

If
we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our
rising prosperity, it must be known that we are at all times ready for
war.
- George Washington

War is an ugly thing, but not
the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and
patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much
worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight,
nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a
miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept
so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Israel’s war
is our war. The same group who wish to destroy Israel, who do not even
recognize their right to exist, are the same that hate us. Even when
Israel was willing to give back all the occupied territories for peace,
the moderate Arabs (the minority) demanded the right of return, which
would have effectively destroyed the Jewish State. The radical arabs
(the majority) continued to seek to drive the Jews into the sea or kill
them all.

People might say I am anti-Arab. I will reply I will be pro-Arab when they..

1) Recognize Israel’s right to exist.
2) Allow religious freedom.
3) Allow true Democracy.
4) Allow basic human rights and full rights for women.

Until that day I support Israel.
