Well it seems our MSM was a little remiss in not reporting the fact that another human being was killed when those media empoyees got themselves killed. You remember the story don’t you?
CBS News correspondent Kimberly Dozier remained in critical but stable condition Friday, four days after she was severely injured in a Baghdad car bombing, hospital officials said. She is expected to return to the United States on Sunday.
According to the hospital, Dozier has been off a ventilator and is talking.
At the U.S. military’s Landstuhl Regional Medical Center since Tuesday, Dozier hasn’t lost her sense of humor, said CBS News President Sean McManus.
She “was disappointed that we had to meet in Landstuhl, Germany, instead of over a drink in New York City,” he said in a message to CBS employees.
Meanwhile, Dozier’s mother, Dorothy, said in a CBS interview that when she walked into the intensive care hospital room on Wednesday, she realized “how closely we came to maybe losing her.”
Doctors in Baghdad fought to save Dozier’s life, stopping severe bleeding after she suffered shrapnel wounds to the head and severe injuries to the legs. Her British cameraman and soundman, an Iraqi translator and a U.S. soldier were killed. Several other troops were wounded.
Yes, those poor journalists. They got themselves killed while trying to make a name for themselves.
But did you know a young man, a soldier who was actually serving this country, not himself, had died with these journalists….not trying to become rich, not trying to become the next Walter Cronkite. But serving this country because he loved this country.
He died and the whole world couldn’t be bothered because hey, a freakin talking head got herself hurt.
Capt. James A. Funkhouser, 35, of Katy, Texas, died in Baghdad, Iraq, on May 29, of injuries sustained when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during reconnaissance patrol operations. Funkhouser was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
