Illegal Immigrants Protest

Loading

So tomorrow is the day that the criminals in our country will rally to demand the rest of us accept them:

In Los Angeles, Eun Sook Lee will march on behalf of Korean illegal immigrants, at least 50,000, living in southern California. On Boston Common, Punam Rogers will join other Indian ?migr?s, as well as business clients and students from China, Germany, and Britain. In Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Ivalier Duvra will take to the streets to draw attention to Haitian newcomers who he says need refugee status.

Coming on the heels of demonstrations in several larger cities, a National Day of Action on Immigrant Rights Monday is expected to involve people in some 90 US municipalities, well above organizers’ goal of 10. Described as the biggest social movement of Hispanics since the United Farm Workers of Cesar Chavez, the plans for protests, vigils, and marches include a less-visible tier of people stirred to action over American immigration policy: non-Latinos.

“If you watch TV and read the papers, you would think this [immigration reform] is primarily an issue only for Latinos or only illegals or only poor immigrants. [Monday] will show differently,” predicts Abdul Malik Mujahid, a Chicago-based Islamic cleric who says 7,000 Muslims will march there Monday to protest the “climate of fear” since 9/11. “Latino organizers have done a big favor not just to themselves but to all other immigrants, as well as America itself, by standing up and saying this country’s immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed. Now the rest of us must join in.”

The national day of action seems to have expanded exponentially with the organizing power of the Internet. Besides demonstrations, speeches, processions, and assorted performances (from drumming to skits), groups are planning work-walkouts, product boycotts, fasting, and other measures.

Smaller cities where events are planned include Bakersfield, Calif.; Fort Myers, Fla.; Hays, Kan.; and Oxford, Ohio, and include groups as diverse as Ukrainians, Palestinians, Irish, labor, and antiwar coalitions.

[…]While organizers say a big turnout and a broad diversity at Monday’s events will send a signal to politicians in Washington wrangling over immigration reform, others see possible down sides.

“Each time immigrants have these giant rallies, the more they infuriate the rest of the American population with the idea that those who break the law get to march and somehow be rewarded,” says Ira Mehlman, L.A. spokesman for Federation for American Immigration Reform. “We have seen in France what happens when you try to bring in millions of people … in many cases who are hostile. We saw there that it didn’t work, and it won’t work here.”

This last part is an excellent point. The problem is assimilation, or lack thereof by the immigrants in our country. At the last rallies they showed their true nature by flying the Mexican flag while protesting in the United States. The organizers have seen the backlash to this and have told everyone to fly the American flag. Big deal. None of us will believe they flag our flag because they want to, we saw what happened when given the choice last time.

Mark Steyn weighs in:

In Michelle Malkin’s book Invasion, she recounts the tale of two fellows who in August 2001 pulled into a 7-Eleven parking lot in Falls Church, Va., in search of fake ID from the illegal-alien assistance network that hangs around there. Luis Martinez-Flores, who’d been living here illegally since 1994, took them along to the local DMV, supplied them with a fake address and falsely certified they lived there. The very next day, the two guys returned with two pals of their own, and used their own brand-new state ID on which the ink was not yet dry to obtain in turn brand-new state ID for their buddies. A couple of weeks later, all four of them used their Virginia ID to board American Airlines Flight 77 at Dulles Airport and plowed it into the Pentagon.

Think about that. From undocumented illegal alien in the 7-Eleven parking lot to lawful resident of the State of Virginia in just a couple of hours. Wow. Say what you like about Luis Martinez-Flores, but he runs one efficient operation.

[…]How about “the jobs Americans won’t do”? Most of them would be more accurately categorized as the jobs American employers won’t hire Americans to do — that’s to say, in a business culture ever more onerously regulated, the immigration status of one’s employees has become one of the easiest means of controlling costs. I see no reason why this would change, and given that, as a matter of policy, U.S. illegal-immigration law is not enforced by the U.S. government, it’s hard to know why private employers should do it.

As Mark noted there are 298 million American citizens in this country as opposed to 10-20 million illegal immigrants. Yet those 10-20 million are pandered to by our government, the MSM, and organized labor. they are pandered to so much they are now defiant to our institutions, demanding services paid for by the taxpayer because they “do jobs that Americans don’t want”. Bull. Business doesn’t want to pay a decent wage so they hire illegals…that’s it, period.

So what does the illegal immigrant bring to the table other then importing poverty and crime? Should we be thankful for them?

Strange Women Laying In Ponds has a few things to thank illegal immigrants for:

  • to the illegal immigrants who kept my wife (the 1st) and me awake until all hours of the night in our first apartment in L.A., playing loud mariachi music in your front yard and smashing beer bottles in the street, I thank you;
  • to the illegal immigrants whose rudeness and disregard for anti-littering laws have made it impossible to take my family to Miami Beach for several years, now, I thank you;
  • to the illegal immigrant who leeched off of our friend and neighbor for years, not doing a lick of work around the house, until the neighbor finally became so fed up that she moved out of state, I thank you;
  • to the illegal immigrants who flout our laws by purchasing black market green cards and other fraudulent identification papers, I thank you;
  • to the illegal immigrants that have brought vicious, criminal gangs to our country, I thank you;
  • to the illegal immigrants whose children have made several of our public schools so dangerous and disorderly that many parents will pay any price to avoid sending their children there, I thank you;
  • to the illegal immigrants who dump trash all over our neighborhood park every weekend, I thank you; and,
  • to the illegal immigrants who side-swiped my car (back when I was very poor), then fled the scene because (a) they were afraid of the cops; and (b) because they very likely didn’t have insurance, I thank you.

UPDATE

Michelle Malkin has some pictures from today’s protest:

Looks like the kind of people we should let slide on doing things the right way huh? Give em all amnesty…..sigh.

UPDATE II (4-10-06)

As many of us already know, a large chunk of the Hispanic population does not support illegal immigration:

Contrary to scenes of hundreds of thousands of united Latinos marching across the country in support of immigration reform, a sizable number of the ethnic group opposes the marches and strongly objects to illegal immigration.

But their voices have largely been muffled by the massive protests, which will continue Monday as tens of thousands of demonstrators are expected to take to the streets of Tucson, Phoenix and other cities nationwide.

[…] “That’s the objective of the marches — to give the impression that all Latinos are for allowing the illegals to become citizens,” said Phoenix resident Lionel De La Rosa. “Well, I’m not.”

The 71-year-old Texas native and Vietnam veteran said he favors punitive measures more in line with the immigration bill passed by the U.S. House in December that would have made it a felony to be in the United States illegally.

“I’m for that 100 percent,” he said. “As far as my Latino friends are concerned, they all agree on this.”

A 2005 survey by the Pew Hispanic Center found that Latinos in general have favorable attitudes toward immigrants and immigration.

But when it comes to illegal immigration, significant numbers have negative views of illegal immigrants.

Immigration has been the cornerstone of our Country since the beginning and most everyone supports LEGAL immigration. What has me pissed off is that a majority of the immigrants coming over no longer yearn to become American. They don’t play by the rules and follow the law, they don’t learn how to speak English and they actually demand free services.

At The Corner Jack Fowler passed on a email he received that reverses the situation:

Enter Mexico illegally. Never mind immigration quotas, visas, international law, or any of that nonsense.

Once there, demand that the local government provide free medical care for you and your entire family.

Demand bilingual nurses and doctors.

Demand free bilingual government forms, bulletins, etc.

Keep your American identity strong. Fly Old Glory from your rooftop, or proudly display it in your front window, or on your car bumper.

Speak only English at home and in public and insist that your children do likewise.

Demand classes on American culture in the Mexican school system.

Demand a Mexican driver license. This will afford other legal rights and will go far to legitimize your unauthorized, illegal presence in Mexico.

Drive around with no liability insurance.

Exactly!

As far as the protests today, look at those who are aligning themselves with the illegal immigrants: (via Michelle Malkin)

Many interesting characters are showing up at the illegal alien demonstrations against immigration enforcement. Black Panthers. A.N.S.W.E.R. agitators. And…America-bashing Muslim activists.

Via the Christian Science Monitor:

“If you watch TV and read the papers, you would think this [immigration reform] is primarily an issue only for Latinos or only illegals or only poor immigrants. (“Climate of fear” flashback from Al Gore.)

Here’s Mujahid’s bio:

Mujahid is the President and Director of Sound Vision Foundation Inc. He is an Imam in the Chicago area. A graduate of Darul Uloom Shah Waliullah in Islamic Studies and the University of Chicago in Political Science, he has learned television production as director and producer at the Chicago Access Corporation. He is the producer of Sound Vision’s programs. He was also responsible for the concept and design of Al-Qari, the leading Quran learning multimedia software. Mujahid has served as the National Coordinator of Bosnia Task Force, USA. It was in this capacity that he initiated the formation of the Islamic Shura Council of North America. He also serves as National Coordinator of Kosova Task Force, USA, an alliance of 10 national organizations of Muslims in America. Mr. Mujahid also serves at the executive committee of the Council for a World Parliament of World Religions.

LGF has lots of background on the militancy of SoundVision’s audience. See also Daniel Pipes: “SoundVision.com Visitors Applaud Jerusalem Suicide Bombing.”

CAIR and friends have opposed immigration enforcement, border security, and national security profiling initiatives vigorously since 9/11.

Insist that Mexican law enforcement teach English to all its officers.

Good luck!

Good luck is right. The Mexican authorities wouldn’t put up with that kind of behavior for a second. As they shouldn’t. As we shouldn’t. And yet we do. In this one way, it would be nice if we were a little more like Mexico.

With friends like these.

UPDATE III

Now this makes sense:

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff yesterday said the tentative agreement, which would let the U.S. deport Chinese illegals as they are arrested, will act as a deterrent to other foreign nationals contemplating illegal immigration. ?We can?t be in the position any longer where we are paying the burden and bearing the burden for countries that won?t cooperate with us and take their own citizens back,? said Mr. Chertoff as he completed a weeklong tour of China, Japan and Singapore to discuss security and immigration issues.

So lets round up those running from Communist oppression but at the same time allow those who only wish to get as many free services as they can while never attempting to learn english, never attempting to assimilate, and openly flaunt our laws

Nineth Castillo, a 26-year-old waitress from Guatemala who joined the Atlanta march, said she has lived in the United States for 11 years “without a scrap of paper.”

Asked whether she was afraid to parade her undocumented status in front of a massive police presence, she laughed and said: “Why? They kick us out, we’re coming back tomorrow.”

to stay. Makes sense huh?

UPDATE IV

From Michelle Malkin and Instapundit comes this blog (Random Numbers) writers story about covering his local protest:

For the most part, the protest was peaceful. The organizers were smarter than the idiots who set up those disgraces last week, and they passed out US flags and suggested that Mexican flags be less prominant. On the march from the Virgin of Guadelupe to City Hall, I got a lot of pics of really cute babes young women and thought that this one might do these folks some good in the PR department.

Then came the ugliness. There was a very millitant group holding provocative signs and loaded down with very angry looking young men. Some were shouting ?Gringos go back to Europe!? and waving fists. Che was all over the place and the reconquista theme was all over them.

I was trying to get a good shot of a sign with Che Guevera on it when my camera was slapped out of my hand and kicked down the street. I turned to the asshole who decided he didn?t like me and found myself facing about a half-dozen Latino males approx 19-25 years old and looking like trouble.

?You got a problem, white boy?? said the thug closest to me.

UPDATE V

So the illegals are doing jobs that Americans don’t want to do?

An Alabama employment agency that sent 70 laborers and construction workers to job sites in that state in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina says the men were sent home after just two weeks on the job by employers who told them “the Mexicans had arrived” and were willing to work for less.

Linda Swope, who operates Complete Employment Services Inc. in Mobile, Ala., told The Washington Times last week that the workers — whom she described as U.S. citizens, residents of Alabama and predominantly black — had been “urgently requested” by contractors hired to rebuild and clear devastated areas of the state, but were told to leave three job sites when the foreign workers showed up.

“After Katrina, our company had 70 workers on the job the first day, but the companies decided they didn’t need them anymore because the Mexicans had arrived,” Mrs. Swope said. “I assure you it is not true that Americans don’t want to work.

“We had been told that 270 jobs might be available, and we could have filled every one of them with men from this area, most of whom lost their jobs because of the hurricane,” she said. “When we told the guys they would not be needed, they actually cried … and we cried with them. This is a shame.”

Yup, a huge shame

here is a thought: my mother is an illegal immigrant.(of European orgins, not hispanic thank you) She does not work and never has worked in the US. She came here legally (via visitors visa)to be here with my father and not to mention to get married to him. She met him back in ’83 while my dad was in the US military- well she ended up pregnant with me blah blah really not important. Well when he was done in the service, he was going back to the US, with her obviously. BUT WAIT: the US government said she would have to wait about 3 years for all the paperwork. Her dilema: She couldn’t take care of me and work at the same time alone in Germany- and my father couldn’t find work because of various reasons (couldn’t speak German that well…etc)So he told her to file for a temporary/vistor’s visa- and then she arrived to meet my father at JFK in the summer of ’86. Her visa expired, but she married my father. So they began the long process to file for my mother’s citizenship- apparently, the INS denied it- and then tried to tell her that she couldn’t become a citizen by just marrying my father- it has been 14 years now. And still my parents are still struggling with this issue- My mother hasn’t commited a crime, nor any public disturbance, or any treachery while in Germany or US. Not to mention- things have gotten a tad bit more expensive with the process (my dad owns a small business, has no insurance, and we can barely make ends meet and oh-we don’t ask for state aid, thank you). My father doesn’t have the money it takes to legalize her. NOW BUSH wants to fine any illegal immigrant- wow – we don’t have $2,000-nor will have anytime soon. My mom didn’t do anything wrong, she just wanted to be with my father and take care of her children. She is not a pest on society, you asswipe.

The American National Anthem

Oh Jose cant you see, we’re tired of supporting thee.

When you snuck acrossed the border, it began an illegal plight.

Over broad stripes and bright stars, We’ll continue to Fight.

Mexican Flags we did watch, that were so sadly streaming.

Our tempers did flare, with Mexican’s everywhere.

Gave proof to the nite, we must send them back there.

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave.

For the land of the U. S. Citizen and the home of the American’s.

written and produced by U.S. Citizens

Amen! Here’s some other information about illegal immigration as it pertains to driver’s licenses and road and highway safety. Get this, they can take their driver’s license exam in any language they want, it seems!

In the name of the good mexican people that are here only to work and do pay taxes ,I (a 21 year old mexican) ask
for MERCY for them;
not gona ask for laws or rights that i know they
dont belong to us,so thats why i just ask for mercy,i feel thats my only right 🙁

Ok this is the thing some signs tell us to return to europe, most of the Mexicans are half Spanish, lets recap spain is in Europe, for heavens sake they speak spanish, that was 1, 2 we are here by conquerors rights no it does not sound good but it is the truth we paid for that land with blood, therefore it is ours so to all you little chicanos out there who think that this land is yours by right, try paying for it in blood, because if you want it that is the price.

Curt: Whatever happened to your Islamofanatic apologist Hassan? Bet he’d like to weigh in on the desire for Muslims to assimilate.

P.S. Found a great piece today

Curt, Mike,

Don’t pay attention to the left, they illustrate their weakness on this issue by the fact that they cannot come up with a compelling argument and instead just reflexively cry “Racism”. We have the strong position on this. Just talk to any of the millions of immigrants who come here legally, obey our laws, pay thousands to have a immigration lawyer move through their paper work, and truly desire to fit in. It is this group that the Donks are slapping in the face with their demand for full amnesty for the illegals, the Donks know it and can’t come up with a good argument to cover their asses.

LUCK WHAT YOU ARE SAID: IN AMERICA THE HISPANIC COMUNITY IS THE BIGGEST MINORITY OF THIS COUNTRY. AN THE US CITIZEN YOU SAID YOU HAVE TO COUNT THE US CITENZEN WHO ARE HISPANOS. BEFORE YOU MOUTH IS OPEN YOU HAVE TAKE SOME RESEACRH ABOUT THIS TOPIC DON’T PUT FALSE INFORMATION.

eh?

Commenting on a trackback?

That’s kind of like batting away imaginary moths flying around your head.

Honest-to-goodness real Americans are dying in Iraq everyday. I say this: send the reconquistadoras over there to do some “fighting” for America. Then, after they take a couple of thousand casualties, then, maybe, we could consider that they have paid their way here…….

Those are some nice pics. I love moonbat signs. They’re like little reminders of why I am aligned to the right.

That one sign about “We are not terrorists like Bush” is funny to me, in that I don’t see how President Bush has been anything but moderate in his approach, and seems to have a soft spot for Hispanics.

In the matter of racial comparisons
the media shouts to the moon
about all the historic achievements
of the redskin, the spic and the coon.
Yet strangely when strolling museums
the white man’s creations stand thick
but all we can find of those others
are a blanket a bowl and a stick.
No telephones, time clocks or engines
no lights that go on with a flick
no airplanes or rockets or radios
just a blanket a bowl and a stick.
Not one sioux indian submarine
no african ice cream to lick
not a single mexican x-ray machine
it’s a blanket a bowl and a stick.
So remember when history’s the subject
and revisionists are up to their tricks
the evidence tells quite another tale
of a blanket ,a bowl and a stick.
